When we first started this journey on RUclips we wanted to create films we love and somehow miss on RUclips. Something new, something more cinematic and something we are proud once the video is out. Big dreams, big boat and our own little big story. Putting out a video that fulfills our own standards is a challenge each and every week. So the schedule is always tight, weeks are stressful and the weekly videos are always dangling on a string. So we’re sorry that you had to wait a bit longer for this video and we can only hope that you see the extra time we put in each and every video to make it „good enough“.
What an immense amount of work! You are both dedicated to saving this historic ship and that comes across. I just finished watching all the first episodes (binge). Most of us don't have the drive to do what you are doing. I am looking forward to watching your epic journey both in and out of the water and over many years.
I think it's key to not know what's awaiting you when buying a project boat. 🤣 But most of the time the restoration is fun and also making this videos is fun. But it's a big project, much bigger than we have expected it to be and we want to share all the ups and the down. Thank you for watching and thanks for the comment!
You are both legends! It's hard to realize this when your muscles and back are aching but the sense of achievement you will have when complete will be astounding! And you will have an exquisite boat that you know inside out!
Thank you! We never felt so exhausted in our entire lives. The hardest part was not knowing when it will be over. Now we're happy again and can't wait to be back on the boat and start refitting again.
We have a dry sense of humor you said? Your sense of humor is drier than the Sahara Desert. But having said that and you having gotten me with your dry humor twice already I now understand and you really are quite humorous. The two of you have put in a tremendous amount of work and effort but you will get there sometime in the next century and your boat will be beautiful. Good luck.
The challenge is to get the refit done before the next one starts. The important thing about our humor is that it's not there to hurt anybody. We make fun of everything including ourselves.
About 20 years ago I bought a 1950’s 50ft tassie (Tasmanian) cray boat which was the first steel cray boat to fish the Tasmanian waters. By the time I bought it it was about 85% steel and 15% rust. I had a lot of fun working on it and to this day it is still floating around somewhere in northern Australia with a new owner. I look at your fantastic videos and it brings back the memories of all the hard work but also the satisfaction restoring a piece of maritime history. We’ll done to you both. Cheers Luke
Hi Luke, I just looked up the taste cray boats and I can absolutely understand why you restored on of those beautiful fishing boats. Since the modern fisheries are so commercialized with huge ships the only choice we have is to restore and preserve old boats because they simply don't make them like this anymore. It seams it was a more reasonable time.
As a life long boater in my 70's, I am following your journey with emense interest. I only wish I were your age to undertake the task that you have. With all of that work, you will shortly look back and say you did something that no one has ever done and will be able to sit back, relax and enjoy Sailing Coney. I am envious....keep it up you will never regret it!
Overall we're really enjoying the refit project. Not many ships like Flying Coney are still around and right now many old ships from that period are being scraped. On the one hand that's really sad but it means we're really conserving a piece of history and we're probably one of the last people do be able to make a conversion like that.
Please keep going on RUclips. Don't let haters guide your decisions. Many of us out here love what you do and really look foreword to the videos. If it gets to tough, just do a video every two weeks. Trust me we many of us will be willing to wait a little longer between videos if we get to watch that beautiful ship come back to life. Thanks for what you do. Keep up the good work.
@@FlyingConey By the way you should look at camera remotes. They are cheap and may reduce your running up and down the platforms in order to start and stop the recording. Hope it helps to save a bit of energy.
To take on a project like this , you must have a big dream and an even bigger heart for the outcome of it . Take pride in what you have achieved . Remember a beautiful pearl starts life as a piece of grit .
Just focus on the good comments, ignore the bad ones. The people who mock your efforts are just sad people who don’t have the nerve to try it them self. I think you are doing a good job bringing the old lady back to life.
You and the lads from the yard have my biggest respect. Barbara also loves to do the physical jobs. I would focus more on the project management and filming aspect and I think I've done enough hard work to be able to know what it means to work.
Hello Daniel and Barbara. I love watching you perform this monumental task. I am involved in restoring a steel 158ft WW2 US Navy Landing Craft in Oregon USS LCI713, (a non profit museum ship). We have some You Tube videos if you want to check it out. A few years ago, the LCI713 had almost as much rust as your beautiful ship! Our volunteer restoration crew has been working on this ship since 2004, but in comparison, you two have done more work in 1 year than is humanly possible! You two seem to have so much energy and dedication it is encouraging to see your continuous efforts at restoring Flying Coney. I think we want to try using that rust removal machine (Terco?) that you have, since we have tried several different machines but yours appears to work the best. Anyway try not to get too discouraged you are doing a great job! I cant wait to see how much progress you make every episode. Thank you for making such inspiring videos. I am glad the FC is back in the water now, and looking great! Jerry
Thats a great idea! However the downside is that you end up climbing up and down the ladder all the time to adjust the system. The tercoo made good progress so we had to move the platforms quite often. There are harness solutions with an arm holding the tool. But that's very expensive.
Excellent work guys. We love watching your overall progress, and remember, there are two kinds of progress - actual and visual. Sometimes you achieve much AP but little or no VP, which is very disheartening, while VP always looks and feels good. You two have achieved a lot of AP, so keep going! We live on a 40 foot catamaran in Queensland, Australia. Who knows but one day we may cross paths "out there". Best wishes, E&M.
A while back when Austria still had a Navy the Ship "Saida" circumnavigated the world. I think her third stop was in Australia and maybe we can replicate her journey once we're finished with the project. It's very true what you've said about the visual and actually progress.
I'm blown away by your perseverance. 😮 I admire your tenacity😅 I'm so glad you are bringing Flying Coney back to life. Good luck, fair winds and happy days to you both. 😊😊😊
11:39 Humour - the only true way to save your sanity. I'm always laugh at myself. Usually before someone else is too. Great job and you'll be pleased one day you did it. Yes you'll look back and laugh at even the darkest of days 😎😎
It means a lot for us that you say that! Our feeling is that RUclips got a lot harder during the last year. Also Leo is experimenting a lot in his last episodes to get more views. Actually I've no idea why that is.
Congratulations, you guys are doing a fantastic job with an enormous amount of hard work. I can feel the aching in your arms wrestling with those grinders for hours at a time. The end result will all be worth it. Thanks for also sharing your journey with us - your channel is a winner.
It made me realize I'm not 20 anymore. But the mental side was probably more challenging than the physical. I don't know what I would do different but I do know what we will make different in the next shipyard time. There must be times for proper weekends...
Hi Daniel and Barbara Let us introduce ourselves... Our names are Willem and Yoka (Joke) van den Brink and we live in Australia on a 65ft Ketch that we built from scratch (from the beginning) just over 30 years ago.. We have been following your channel right from the start and love the fact that your boat is in the Netherlands as we were both born there. We know exactly how you feel as we now are dealing with the massive task of maintaining our boat after a few years of neglect due to our health. You are doing a fantastic job taking on such a mammoth task.. We are writing today to encourage you both to never give up on your dreams, no matter how hard it gets, you will get through it. We have had a lot of negative comments as well. But what is the essence of achievement? Many years ago I was in a restaurant and saw a quote by President Roosevelt on the wall. I grabbed a napkin and wrote it down so I could share this with many people, including you two. It said: "The credit belongs to the man who is actually in the arena, who know the great enthusiasms, the great devotions to a worthy cause; who at best know the triumph of high achievement, and who at worst, fail while daring greatly... so that their place shall never be with those cold and timid souls who know neither victory or defeat" God Bless you, we hope this encourages you both, Kind Regards, Willem and Yoka van den Brink sailing the 'Crystal Jane'
Mostly tiered and exhausted faces unfortunately. But it just took us some time to realize what we've achieved and be proud. Now we're happy and looking forward to the next steps. The most important lesson we've learned is that the human body needs time to relax and simply pushing forward comes at a cost. Next time we plan for at least two weekends in one month 😉
What a massive task you two have taken on. This is something that you will remember the rest of your lives. You should be very proud of what you have accomplished so far. I look forward to seeing more to include once she's sailing once again.
My back certainly will remember me 😂 But luckily no big injury. I think this first shipyard time was an important step in growing into the project. We do know now what we can and what we can't do and how to approach future project much better.
People that are still asking about sand blasting are dense. Love what you two are doing and I'm enjoying watching the progress. Keep the faith and don't feed the trolls.
Of course it's a joke that we mention the sandblasting in every video but people are really asking because of it. This time three people asked why we don't sandblast the hull.
You are preserving a piece of history that others may have scrapped. You have worked on this ship with your hearts and your muscles and your backs. You have taken on a task many would not even think of taking. Thank you for sharing this journey with us.
Please don't let negative comments deter you. You're doing a wonderful job. You are an inspiration to lots of people in that you are willing to put in the effort to get things done. Thank you for including us in this adventure!!!!
Don't take any notice of the negative comments. Just concentrate on the positive and encouraging ones. You are doing a brilliant job and you will have such enormous pride and satisfaction when it is all done. A beautiful sailing ship.
Really enjoy all of your videos and appreciate the effort you put into them. Your production and story telling is really inspiring. You are now an important part of the history of this beautiful sailing ship. You both are an inspiration to anyone who has a dream to accomplish great things. Looking forward to your next video and can’t wait to see her in the water and sailing. You both should be very proud of what you have accomplished.
I love your guys sense of humor! So glad you were able to smile and power through the hard parts on the rebuild! Isnt it ironic the last part we always fix on a boat is its butt! Thank you for the videos on the rebuild. I realize what a difficult task it is editing and producing them. Cant wait to see Flying Coney when you finally get her done and back to her old glory. Have fun in the camper and hope to see you back on Flying Coney in the not so distant future!
The future is now 🤣 We've shot the intro to next video on deck of floating Flying Coney. The stern of the ship really is hard to reach and if you have the slightest fear of hight it's problematic. Everywhere else you have the boat right in front of you. But at the stern you work under the boat, so the platform is free standing.
Just a short comment: Just forget about the grumblers and doubters, they always comment, even on the best projects. Ignore them and carry on. Great work!
We tried to make the video not too negative especially with the conclusion at the end. It just took us some time to figure our what our role is here on RUclips. We're not master shipwrights nor do we have a huge team making massive progress each and every week. But what we can offer is a detailed insight in how it feels for ordinary people to takle a huge project (so you don't have to 😁)
Yes, you should be VERY proud of your achievement so far!! What an awesome achievement. I look forward to seeing Flying Coney progress through the coming years. 👍👍👍👍
Well done guys, don’t let the negative comments get you down. I am currently repatriating a vessel that has been in storage for 6 years and often wonder if I have bitten off more than I can chew. Watching your inspiring work renews my faith in the project. Keep up the good work, the rewards will be amazing.
When I first started to take the rust off her stern I was thinking, "well let's see how many holes we'll find." It was a big surprise that it was "just" a lack of maintenance since this spot is so hard to reach. Also the prop was a big relief since this things are really really expensive.
All big projects require perseverance. It can be exhausting and stressful, but in the end the satisfaction of accomplishment is worth it. Everyone who has done this understands. You are doing well.
What a beautiful ship, you are both doing a fantasic and very admirable job in restoring this lovely lady, you have the hearts of lions. I wish more people would save these wonderful treasures. You are both heroes. Thank you.
Thank you! I think the important step was to realize that we're making this videos for people like you. To realize that this channel is more about the experience of how to run a ship not a "how to" restore a ship. What I wanted to bring across is that it really was a tough time but it was worth to get the work done and to keep producing the videos.
yes you took on one hell of a big project but you two have shown the strength and fortitude to accomplish any project you take on. Quitters you are not and can be proud of what you are accomplishing. thanks for taking us along
You guys are doing a fantastic and through job in fixing the hull. It does look a little bit scary when you ground down all that rust and you can see all those indentation but she was built with a very very thick hull and there is still a lot of the metal left. I love her lines and can understand why you wanted to save her. You both have a final vision of how she will look and sail which many of the people who say scrap her do not have. A vision of a beautiful sail ship that would cost 1/2 million dollars to build brand new. Keep up the good work you both work well together and really support each other. Great teamwork. Each person doing the job that they are most suitable for. Great planning and organization and I liked that you had the hull thickness checked too. With your excellent derusting and coating with zinc primer you should have no further corrosion issue. Lots of zinc anodes would help too. Great job. Keep up the excellent work!
The scale of the work is amazing. I think you have done a fantastic job so far with so few resources. Really enjoyed watching all the videos......and as a Brit, I get the humour
Thank you! When I was younger I spend a few months in Oxford and I love the British humor. Can't wait for Flying Coney to be operational and sail over and have a nice summer there.
Another great video. I've been busy and missed the last couple, so I'll go back and watch. I have found, that monumental tasks, create monumental people. Perseverance isn't enough, you become more steadfast and build a will of steel. It will serve you both well in future. You aren't just rebuilding a ship, you are building character. You will never get up in the morning and look at the world in the same way. Congratulations. Your humor is imaginative and funny and keeps us coming back. Remember, in everything you do, keep an eye out for slips, trips and falls. When you're tired it's a biggie. At least a day a week for rest. We want you two to remain healthy and sane. One day on the ocean blue, Far from the lights and youtube, You'll be recognized by huge smiles, Though miles away, Sailing sweet Flying Coney
I got a chuckle from the little finger toggling the big rudder - which is small compared to the massive ship. Look at the ships also: though they are so large and are driven by strong winds, they are guided by a very small rudder wherever the will of the pilot directs. So also the tongue is a small member, yet it boasts of great things. How great a forest is set ablaze by such a small fire! Don't let the small members with ill will distract you from your course. Thanks for sharing this unique project. I love work. I can sit and watch it all day.
Major respect for you two, I have owned a 38 ft steel sailing yacht and know what hard work it is to maintain, let alone repair it. You both got the right attitude and love for the ship to pull this through 👍
You have taken on a monumental task and you are only 2 people! Don't be so hard on yourselves! Good work, good luck and follow you with great interest!😍
You are both amazing, the discipline and fortitude you both showed is truly amazing. Without you Coney would not have survived and you are bringing her back to life. Ignore the negative comments they are made by people who could not have achieved a tenth of what you have. I look forward to seeing your videos for months to come, now the fun begins for you both.
As an old guy with hearing problems, I love to see you using your ear protection. You both seem to work safely. I hope things get a little easier for you, once the ship is back in the water. You have earned a little reward. Thanks for the videos. They are inspiring.
Marvelous, you both are truly amazing. She looks perfect painted black. Thank you so much for sharing your immense project and we pray you both receive the credit you deserve.
Thank you! I have to say in the last weeks and months the comments got more and more positive. It feels like finally we have a community and that's really great. I think it took us some time to find our place here on RUclips. It's funny but it took me some time to understand that we're making videos for people who enjoy the project and the videos and we're not making videos to convince people who question everything we do. Hope to see you next Friday.
Well we had no choice but thinking back I still think it's worth it and somehow you've to learn how to maintain the ship. As always we picked the hard way.
I’m not sure why people need to be that way but it’s not cool to say things and not know anything about it , I’m sorry that all of the comments are not positive or helpful but know this allot of us are here because we like what your doing ! I can’t donate because I’m retired on a fixed income but I do tell people about you as much as possible !
You telling people about us is more than we can ask for. Thank you! The comments are way more positive ow than they were back then. We also had to find our role. I mean you have Leo this incredible craftsman and a trained shipwright and we can only do our research and trust in people we think know more about than we do. I think on this channel it's more about the experience and not too much about the knowledge. We're growing into the project and we're quick learners but I don't know enough to argue with a surveyor. So all I can to is telling you what he told me. But it's okay since it's more about running this ship and on the long run not too much about structural repairs. (Hopefully)
Thank you! It's amazing to be able to share the videos and seeing all the positive comments and reactions! Dealing with the algorithm is the part we don't like that much.
Much respect, for those that don't get how a tool can get heavy, just hold you hand out 90º to the floor, even just that will be heavy in a few minutes. She looks good painted and the black paint looks good, Pirate Ship savvy.
You can see Barbara’s biceps are really filling out that sweater. All that arm work will make you buff. I can empathize with Daniel’s back pain. I couldn’t do any of that work now, but would be good for fetching water and tools. 😊
Thank you! We needed to realize that we do run this ship but we're both not tough enough to be industrial workers. But I do think it's important to have done the work yourself before you're able to delegate work. But in the future it's important to build a team and it's also more fun.
@@FlyingConey we’re all cheering you on. The people who are criticizing are only letting you know what they are not willing to attempt themselves for whatever reason.
I think it came across too negative in the videos. It was what we felt in that situation. We had no income, didn't know how much we still have to spend and had no possibility to take a few days off... In this kind of mood the seed of doubt fell on very fertile soil. Generally I do enjoy the conversation in the comments and I do think about inputs and considerations people are telling us. Sometimes it's hard to distinguish people who want to help from people who think they just know everything. Usually people who know their stuff also do know that there are different ways to skin a cat. 🐈⬛
Hey Daniel and Barbara: You have my sincere admiration for all the hard work you've done. I've built and remodeled houses and know how much work that can be and many times I've had to, as you call it "push through". I really like the finishing of the big brass propeller. I'm sure that was very gratifying. Yours sincerely, Thor
Hi Thor, it really was satisfying to get rid of all the rust. Especially after we knew that there's no new hole underneath. Also finding out the the prop is in good conditions was a very big relief. I can whisper, these things are very pricy.... All the best, Daniel.
You two are doing something both difficult and amazing. I've enjoyed every video you've put out, and it will be a joy to watch this beautiful ship restored as time goes on.
I'm glad to see you've got the boat out of the water. Now I am seeing you have pure beauty of the hall and topside's. Good progress, good-looking boat.
Actually that is what we love on RUclips. It's amazing and a privilege to be able to share this journey with you. It's more the Algorithm and marketing thing on RUclips that drives us crazy sometimes.
We hope we get the structural repairs done this year and then we can finally built up. We can't wait to do the woodworking projects like the wooden deck and the interior. Currently we're researching were to do it. Maybe Bültjer in Germany.
Very well done, usually with a boat this big you need at least 2-3 full-time helpers more or a lot more time and you didn't have both, hats off to this achievement!
You guys took on a massive project and doing the job properly on this magnificent ship is the way to go. I agree with Ron that you are right up there with Tally Ho, Yaba and Ship Happens.
Thank you! Now we have to find a way to tell RUclips to give us the same views. The strange thing is that we have many loyal viewers and long time commenters. People like you commenting almost every video. But somehow RUclips is not showing our content to new viewers. Don't know why...
Hello from central Illinois,USA. I wanted to thank you for your content. I really enjoy watching you put her back together little by little. Please don’t get discouraged there will be a day when you stand on the bow arm in arm and know it was all worth it.
1st time I caught your video's! I'm Old now but I've refitted quite a few classic yacht's in my lifetime,Loved finding your channel! IT WILL ALL BE WORTH IT WHEN YOU UNTIE THOSE LINES FOR THE 1ST TIME! HAPPY SAILING 🥰🥰🥰
As you said, cleaning the propeller wasn't really necessary, but it must have felt really good to see it all shiney. Especially after so much grinding the rust off the rest of the waterline and hull. Unbelievable job the two of you have done, so happy for you both as you continue your journey. And I also appreciate your dark, dry and ironic humor 😏
You both are doing a fantastic and obviously very difficult job. There’s an old music hall saying - you can never please all the people all the time. That’s just the way they are. We love what you and in the way you do it. Hope you’re having a good break. Thank you for all your hard work in producing wonderful videos.
I have been following your vlog from the beginning! I am happy to say, I plan to follow this journey to its concussion!! Thank you for your time & effort you put into each episode.
Thank you for commenting almost every video and following this journey right from the beginning. Looking back now the first videos had much more cringe factor so following from the beginning is much harder than starting to follow now 😂 We did know that it's hard to start a RUclips channel but nothing prepares you for the ups and downs.
You two are amazing! Incredible amount of work for two people, you should be so proud. Can't wait to see you racing Tally Ho through the North Atlantic!
Hello! I love to watch boat's refettings. I have seen your videos from the begining and it has been exhausting sometimes watching you guys work so hard. I admire all the work you are doing. Sometimes I don't know where do you get the strength from. Thank you for sharing your journey! I know that Flying Coney will end up to be a beautiful vessel. 👏💕
I can feel your pain just watching your video. My method when having to do large areas of grinding or sanding is to just look back at what I have achieved so far rather then looking ahead at what's left to do and eventually it gets finished. You have achieved a lot together as a team.
Nothing great is easy! When it gets tough just step back, close your eyes and see Flying Coney beating up the channel with all canvas flying! I can see every wonderful step ahead of you (and so ahead of me) I know you will enjoy this journey of hard work! As we say in NZ - Kia Kaha! = Stay strong in Maori language.
A beautiful and worthy ship and project. Outstanding! The rounded stern of Flying Coney is gorgeous, btw. I love the lines, beautifully crafted out of steel. A thing of beauty.
Klasse!
I wonder when you will realize that you might miss something, I mean the fullfilling and devstating moments and how you get through all the mess, those ups and downs in a row. Maybe once the waves are hitting the hull again and you lay in your cabin no longer fearing that water can get into a leak cause you know that you had done the job right. Once in a lifetime achievement. Chapeau.
Thanks! Before we sail on the open ocean we will have the boat hydrojet blasted. For now it's good enough and usually holes don't open up just like that. And what the fisherman of the boat that was taken out in this video told me was: "I don't care if the bilge pump runs from time to time, it's when they don't stop anymore when I get nervous!"
You all are doing amazing I love watching you two restore Flying coney I look forward to your videos you two are a inspiration keep up the amazing work
You two are doing amazing Taking a big job like that. You do so well working as a treat. It be nice to see some volunteers to help you. If I was near you I would love to come and give you a helping hand.
We weren't able at these time to set everything up for volunteers. Like finding a place to sleep and organizing dinner and all that. Let alone making a to- do list... But next shipyard time will be more organized and it will be way more fun to work together as a group and as a team.

You and the lads from the yard have my biggest respect. Barbara also loves to do the physical jobs. I would focus more on the project management and filming aspect and I think I've done enough hard work to be able to know what it means to work.
I was told most of my life I couldn't do the things I've done, keep up the good work, she is worth it and will make you proud.
Вы просто великолепны! Очень здорово смотреть за вашей работой, особенно когда знаешь, сколько старинных пароходов распилили у нас за последние 30лет
Jerry
Use a tie down strap from the deck above with a bungee cord on the grinder as this takes a lot of weight off you but you can still orbit about.😊
Thats a great idea! However the downside is that you end up climbing up and down the ladder all the time to adjust the system. The tercoo made good progress so we had to move the platforms quite often. There are harness solutions with an arm holding the tool. But that's very expensive.
I am very impressed by your project selection and adjusting to fix new problems...Hats off !...
Thank you so much Pete! We do our best to bring the boat back to former glory. ⛵
11:39 Humour - the only true way to save your sanity. I'm always laugh at myself. Usually before someone else is too. Great job and you'll be pleased one day you did it. Yes you'll look back and laugh at even the darkest of days 😎😎
FC is right up there with Tally Ho & Yaba.
Your videos are very much appreciated!
It means a lot for us that you say that! Our feeling is that RUclips got a lot harder during the last year. Also Leo is experimenting a lot in his last episodes to get more views. Actually I've no idea why that is.
I to love your work. Hang in there. I click as fast as i can when a new video comes out. 😊
Well done both.
Thank you Darren!
Hi Daniel and Barbara
Let us introduce ourselves...
It said:
"The credit belongs to the man who is actually in the arena, who know the great enthusiasms, the great devotions to a worthy cause; who at best know the triumph of high achievement, and who at worst, fail while daring greatly... so that their place shall never be with those cold and timid souls who know neither victory or defeat" God Bless you, we hope this encourages you both, Kind Regards, Willem and Yoka van den Brink sailing the 'Crystal Jane'
Thank you Willem!
I thank you for taking us along on your journey. I am looking forward to seeing your proud faces on splash day!
I am refitting an 1930 wooden vessel 52 foot long it’s hard work keeping up the good work 🎉
You guys are great ! Australians love your kind of low, slow, dry self deprecating humour. I admire you guys and what you are doing.
Awesome job guys keep going it will be so worth it in the end
We can't wait to go sailing with her and also we can't wait to approach the woodworking projects.
You guys are doing an OUTSTANDING job with your videos. As an American from Florida, I love your Austrian humor! Don't change a thing.
You have big hearts. This is a mammoth task. How do you reach the end of a journey - one step at a time. Easy to say, I know.
Please, please ignore the Trolls and naysayers, your doing a fantastic job and I can't wait to see the old lady back to something like her best
A job done right is a job well done and will last the test of time.
I want to see flying coney in person some day . To see all the hard work to what it will soon become. Thank you for taking us along the journey.
@@FlyingConey awesome! Now I have to count the days till the next video comes out. Hope you both are doing well and have a fantastic day
You guys have done an amazing job .. looking forward to seeing her all painted.. ❤
Thanks for still taking the time to make this videos - I bet it takes a thick skin now and then. She's looking better every time!
Just a short comment:
Just forget about the grumblers and doubters, they always comment, even on the best projects.
Ignore them and carry on.
Great work!
We tried to make the video not too negative especially with the conclusion at the end. It just took us some time to figure our what our role is here on RUclips. We're not master shipwrights nor do we have a huge team making massive progress each and every week. But what we can offer is a detailed insight in how it feels for ordinary people to takle a huge project (so you don't have to 😁)
Humour is far better than anger. All you can do is be you. Great update 2x👍
I de-rusted my (small) 9m long boat build in 1962 with the same tools as you used on Flying Coney. What a challenge! Very much respect to you guys!
Yes, you should be VERY proud of your achievement so far!! What an awesome achievement. I look forward to seeing Flying Coney progress through the coming years. 👍👍👍👍
Hopefully it will take us not too long to get her operational and then we can maybe welcome you aboard for a sail 😎⛵️ Thank you for your comment!
Well done guys, don’t let the negative comments get you down. I am currently repatriating a vessel that has been in storage for 6 years and often wonder if I have bitten off more than I can chew. Watching your inspiring work renews my faith in the project. Keep up the good work, the rewards will be amazing.
The prop looks great, and the other stuff is good too.
Thank you.
Thank you for the care you put into restoring that old lady.
Another great episode. Don’t let the know it all’s and knockers get you down, you’re doing an amazing job. Well done
One day on the ocean blue,
Far from the lights and youtube,
You'll be recognized by huge smiles,
Though miles away,
Sailing sweet Flying Coney
I got a chuckle from the little finger toggling the big rudder - which is small compared to the massive ship.
Look at the ships also: though they are so large and are driven by strong winds, they are guided by a very small rudder wherever the will of the pilot directs.
So also the tongue is a small member, yet it boasts of great things. How great a forest is set ablaze by such a small fire!
Don't let the small members with ill will distract you from your course.
Thanks for sharing this unique project. I love work. I can sit and watch it all day.
NEVER let anyone rent space in your head!!! What your doing is for the ones who enjoy what you do.
Thanks for your honesty. I always love your content.
To Hell with the haters, you two are awesome and I'm really enjoying watching this processes.
Glad to see your spirits lifted by your dogged tenacity. 😁
Well we had no choice but thinking back I still think it's worth it and somehow you've to learn how to maintain the ship. As always we picked the hard way.
Making the propeller shiny and looking bright and beautiful! I get it. The cherry on top is never amiss. Thanks 🙂
(Hopefully)
hang in there guys I'm enjoying your journey thanks
You are doing a great job with your RUclips. Keep going and enjoy life to the full.
Thank you! It's amazing to be able to share the videos and seeing all the positive comments and reactions! Dealing with the algorithm is the part we don't like that much.
You should be very proud of yourself , you deserve the all the praise very well done 👍👏👏👏👏
Thank you for sharing your story with us 😍👍
Actually that is what we love on RUclips. It's amazing and a privilege to be able to share this journey with you. It's more the Algorithm and marketing thing on RUclips that drives us crazy sometimes.
Congratulations on getting back in the water. My favorite mantra is “perfect is the enemy of good”.
The team work and determination is amazing! Flying Coney will be the ship of your dreams soon. You will know every rivet and seam of her.
Good job and thanks for your honest video. To retain tradition isn't easy. For such a nice Flying coney is it worth. Be proud of yourself.👍🏻Thorsten
@@FlyingConey Ask them.
Well done! You guys are the greatest. I do appreciate your humor 😉
= Stay strong in Maori language.
you did a good job
take a rest and look to the future
A beautiful and worthy ship and project. Outstanding! The rounded stern of Flying Coney is gorgeous, btw. I love the lines, beautifully crafted out of steel. A thing of beauty.
Really fantastic to give life again to this great lady congratulations 👏👍😊
So glad Barbara is the optimist!
That fisherman is hilarious, but likely very accurate. Lovely saying that needs to be on a plaque
