I find it just extraordinary that one of the most innovative and professional teams of RUclips sailors are not having to ask the worlds numerous boat builders, with special offers/deals of sponsorship, to form an orderly queue along the quay. But hats off to you for remaining so independent, it makes it all much more 'realistic' for us normal beings.

Imagine these two tied down to a contract like the pair you’re thinking of, that was a one off deal to be guinea pigs, they had a hell of a lot more issues with that cat than was ever put on RUclips plus they still had to pay for it, the deal was basically a certain amount of content to advertise the boat for supplying the finance, they just got lucky with time and location... and no insults intended but look at them, they’re the angels of RUclips sailing... BTW these guys do get things to appraise just they keep it real.

I recommend storing things in labeled containers, in numbered locations and creating a file system on your computer so it can be found easily when/if you need it. Maybe even include an expiration date on the computer to let you know that something is about to become unusable, so you can toss it at the next port. Organizing is worth the time!

That has been explained in several of their videos. One end wall of the barn will be knocked out to make an opening, then it will be taken out upside down. They will rotate it right way up, then return it to the barn for work to continue until ready to go out on a trailer to the sea. It is being built upside down...hence the two stage build process. This is normal, except commercial builders have a shed with a roof crane built in to rotate the boat. Taking it outside gives space to use a mobile crane to rotate it.

Part of the joy to watch you, is how you have managed to turn a pretty worn out lady to become an almost explorer yacht. And particularly your creativity in terms of improving the whole vessel to accommodate you as a couple. A good friend of mine recently died. He was an architect like you, and relatively late in his professional life he won a major architectural competition. A public building that took many years to construct. Very advanced in terms of environmental specifications. When he finished, he decided to use all the money he had earned to design a sailing boat for circumnavigation. He was an experience sailor/racer and competed for many years in his X-79. In 1998 he contacted the Hansa Yard in Germany and together with an architect friend and the naval designer Judel/Vrolijk they made the Hansa DS 37. The vessel is now for sale in Norway. You should take a look. Had it not been for the fact that you have decided to go ahead with a renovation, I would have recommended you to seriously give it a consideration as a candidate for UMA II. Immaculately maintained where only the best will do. As we Norwegians are so used to due to the tough weather, rugged coastline and maritime heritage.

I am happy to hear that the new update gives your motor the ability to travel at 3.6 knots using 1.2 KW of power. That means that your range has been extended to 3 nm for each KWH expended at the quite reasonable speed of 3.6 knots.
I am glad to see that you have started removing your possessions and easily removed structures from Uma. How wonderful that this new marina is allowing you to do this kind of work. What ever you decide to do, this work would still have to be done and it certainly helps clears the way so that you can more quickly start the structural rebuild if you can get a good opportunity. Best of Luck, and much respect for your progress.

I’ve watched you on these island or at sea it’s like I’m right there with you during those scary sails to diving to walking on the island and meeting other people. Keep up the great job and thank you for letting us sail with you.
    Safe Sails.

And I don’t ever remember it looking “cluttered” either, but that’s like a two bedroom condo, except for furniture. I thought the first update made it look like a brand new boat, so I can’t wait to see all the things that bothered either of you and how you change them, like the shelving in the V-Berth. I hope it goes fast & easy! 🍀

Maybe do one plywood sheet that will allow You to open the whole storage under the V-berth assisted by a couple of gas-struts and not having to mess with the berth each time.
    Good luck guy’s it’s a huge task.

@@stopthephilosophicalzombie9017 It's unbelievable how many people are working on their own fiberglass boats lately. RUclips has provided a LOT of good knowledge on what was once almost voodoo. Dan and Kika are good examples of this. Two young college kids fixing up their own bargain basement wreck of a boat on a budget. What's not to like?

Don't buy a couch... Buy a boat and fill it with loads of stuff! 😀
Quite impressive amount of stuff you've managed to pack in her.
When I lived on a boat I had damp mattress problems, so I built a frame a couple of inches high out of an old futon base to give an airgap underneath, with holes drilled though to the storage lockers & a couple of 12volt computer fans built in the bulkhead to give airflow through everything, which solved the problem.
    Good luck with this project!
