Ive got a ball python and he feels like a harder less squishy version of those cheap fake snakes, except you can feel slight ridges where one row of scales ends and another begins, it's pretty cool!
Seeing the giant bag of Aspen fibers made me curious : what do you guys do with all the used bedding? Do you compost it or have some special way of disposing of all of it?
Probably compost. With all the snake waste on it, it would compost very well. Or make good mulch if you garden. The waste products serve as nutrients for the plants. You could even just dump it out in the woods and it would be beneficial to the plants around it.
@@Macachee very true! aspen fibers would be carbon so add some food waste and you've got a great compost recipe! Plus it being broken down into fibers would make composting breakdown go so much faster

One of my snakes decided to brumate this year, but he kept moving around this whole time, just refused to eat, I'm not use to brumating snakes so I'm trying to understand the term "wake them up" better
Generally they will have lower temperature! So after three weeks ish without food every couple of days they slowly lower then temp until about 55F where they stay for a few months. From feb to March. Where they slowly raise the temp in a similar way. Once there hear is back on they feed them again! This simulates the winter months they usually go through! So the waking up is them getting warmed up! Your snake refusing to eat is going through a similar process, but without the lower temps. So removing his heat Matt if he does the same thing next year might help him out!
@@kallarae927 Hi! I did turn his heat mat off once he stopped eating, he hasn't eaten anything since September, should I turn his heat mat back on and start offering food? he came out a couple of weeks ago and still looks the same, I didn't notice any weight loss
I'm a decently new fan, so this is my first year being part of the breeding plans audience and I am SO excited! I watched all of the videos back until over a year ago (I'm still working on watching all of them). As I watch the older ones, I find myself wishing I could have been part of things like suggesting egg drawings, or naming, or even just getting excited when the eggs I have been following finally hatch, and it's finally time that I get to actually be part of this, I can't express with words how excited I am about it! BABY SNEKS! WHEEEEEEEEE! YAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY! WAAAAAH SO EXCITED! I wish you guys the most successful of years! I'm hoping you get to see results from things you've been working toward for a long time and that you get to breed little ones that are a new species for you, and, wah I'm just so excited for breeding season!!!
Get Better Wishes for Brad!!! I hope she heals up nicely and has no reoccurrences. We love Brad! And I too have the urge for you to have snake bags with the merch snake artwork on them. Perhaps that's another merch idea! I mean, a snake bag and a drawstring tote aren't too different... cross marketing? Legit... I would buy snake bags with cute snakes on them to use for things other than snakes because I don't own snakes.
*Emily and Ed* Can the breeding plans video be tuesdays video? Please? I can’t wait to see what you are planning up there in snake discovery facility. How dose it feel to be honorary Canadians? Will you make some merch of Drax? SaBell would look really nice on some merch… maybe a sable version of the “Food?” Design? I LOVE what you guys have been doing, and I am so sorry about Brad, and the Stillwater female. Would you do a video on all of your rat snakes in the future? I have been dying to see the Vietnamese blue beauty’s, and maybe the Taiwan beauty’s? When did you get the Japanese ratsames? Will you make a Tinley video? I hope that you are well, and I hope that everything goes better than wonderful this year with everything and anything that you do at Snake Discovery!

the sheer volume of aspen substrate you guys must have gone through setting up bins boggles the mind. as does the number of noodles now in the snake discovery fam lol i'm so attached to y'all's snakes i'm happy whenever one who hasn't showed up in a while makes an appearance, surprised whenever a snake you've had for a while who hasn't appeared on the channel yet does for the first time, or sad when you lose a snake or one is going through health issues. i wish brad a very get well soon, and rest in peace fergalicious
i've probably held a snake before in a zoo or something but i don't remember so i'm watching emily in this video hold several snakes and intensely wondering what it's like haha
Ive got a ball python and he feels like a harder less squishy version of those cheap fake snakes, except you can feel slight ridges where one row of scales ends and another begins, it's pretty cool!
@@TotallyARealPerson thank you for telling me! god i want to hold a snake and know what it's like hahaha
This is never boring. I’m always fascinated. Thank Emily and Ed.
It's been months, but I still can't get over you two not having dyed hair :D looking amazing either way!
I kinda wish they would do it again, it was a staple!!!
Am I the only one who loves to watch the snakes move in time lapse
YAAAAY they’re back!!! Can’t wait to see the babies, and I hope the breeding plans come out soon!
Dog: I'm your biggest fan!
Everyone else including me: NO I AM
Emily.... You sound so tired... You and Ed have been on the go, non-stop, since you were building the facility... Then opening it, running it, running around the country for reptiles, going to conventions (and while some of those things are enjoyable for you guys... i cant imagine it's all restful :/ ).... Please take it easier on yourselves; we love you guys and want you to be at your best... Please consider a mini vacay for you and Ed... nothing too long, if it worries you... but something away from the facility, from making videos, etc.... Please consider recharging yourselves and getting some rest.
Take care! loving the videos! been watching you for about 3 or 4 years now? love you guy! :)
~~
I always inhale sharply in excitement when there’s a new Snake Discovery video
Bucks scales near his eyes made him look like a spider for a second haha
That is very long-
I love watching your videos and you even inspired me to get a gecko!! They are funny and educational!
Can we talk about how GORGEOUS Buck is!!! 🤩🤩
Brumation is always a hard thing to deal with for me personally.
I love the on screen text commentary! Several had me chuckling! 😂😂😂 May I have some more? MORE?
It must feel so weird to have the snakes back in the house.
Also I am so ready for more baby snakes 🐍.
You should do a video where you educate us about all of your pets in the zoo
Ed's lil boop was so cute!!!!
This was a great way for me to Finnish up my birthday, watching a Snake Discovery video.😃
Is that the little patternless at 3:14? Has he really gotten that big? It feels like you guys just got him.
I love that ed is so much more comfortable on camera. You guys are amazing 💕
I really hope you manage to breed Lavenders this year, just so I can see lots of lavender babies!
Hi Emily.. my daughter love all your videos she is 6 yr old and she learn a lot from you and she wanted become a nature conservationist. She takes lot of inspiration from this channel. Please say hi to LAYA from India. This will make her much happy. Thanks..
Yesss! Getting ready to see the little bebesss
I like how they just weren't bothered about the dog 🤣🤣🤣. Coolest people! ❤️❤️❤️
Oh man, seeing everybody looking all cute together in their brumation bins makes me so sad that hognoses aren’t a social species! GUYS, BE MORE LIKE THE GARTERS!
Arizona native here! We had one of these guys live on the edge of our property growing up and boy was he HUGE. Coolest thing I've every seen, they really are neat animals! My mom named him Henry and gave him a chicken once that never ended up hatching. Totally would get on if they weren't venomous. 😅
12:33 Emily calls Ed “sweetie” 💕
“Plain Jane” is now “diarrhea Jane.”
Glad Brad is doing better.
Sorry about Fergie.
When I watch your videos all my sadness melts away.
i can’t wait to go to the facility this weekend
Lucky! I’m cross continent from them… I have almost no chance of visiting them…😢
They are all so cute! They all have the best names
In @Kamp Kenan most recent Video, he mentioned Emily from Snake Discovery! So cool that people in the Reptile hobby know each other!
It's amazing how you can remember most of the snake's names and appearances. And it also reminds me of teachers, like how they remember most of the students they teach, even though there's a lot of them! So you're like a snake teacher, and the more I think about it, you really give me teacher vibes (in a good way!).
Have you guys ever considered doing breeding with your large snakes like the burms? The video of the rescues had me curious!
I love your local corn snakes! So different and pretty!
I would like to see the false water cobras. Haven’t seen them in awhile.
I'm really lucky to Find such great snake channels on RUclips cause I just got a snake So it's really helpful To learn about them!
Aaaaah! The Japanese rat snake is so tiny! I have an adult male and I can't even imagine him that small.
I would like to respectfully request snake bath footage lol. I can't believe all of those snakes you have, it's so awesome!
I wanna go work there so bad!! 🤩 all the snakes and wonderful personalities man I just wish I didn’t hate the cold so much 😅
don't worry it's only cold 5 months a year! 😂😂
Every time she says "Busty Rhonda" I sing it in my head to the tune of "Help me Rhonda". .
Seeing all the breeding snakes , i am wondering how is Peanut. Haven't heard from him in a while
I can't wait until reading season I just can't wait and so excited
Are you thinking about setting up so you can do brumation at the facility so you don't have to move them?
Nothing in your videos are boring will watch whatever you put up
The more weight Ed looses the more he looks like Chris Pratt. I hope it's an intentional weight loss and that he is feeling good!
Too bad Chris Pratt is a jagoff
Love that you have a snake called dropkick Murphy. Ah the good ole days.
Emily: ok I think its official we have a lot of snakes
Me: and a lot of pillowcases
My snake just had some huge abscesses removed from his abdomen and is really poorly :( seeing all these babies cheered me up :)
