- Today we unpack and setup two new ARS racks! One of which is for some bullsnakes (and others), and the other is for our hognose snakes!! We love how they turned out, especially the newly-launched clear bins to allow more light into the enclosure! :D

I like that you guys just explain things viewers might be confused about if it’s their first video, like “don’t worry they don’t live in here, it’s just a travel bin” instead of whining about having to explain and going “well I talk about this in EVERY VIDEO, wahh wahhh wahh”. You understand this might be someone’s first video and they’re not trying to be annoying, they’re just concerned. I appreciate that calm, positive demeanour.

If you guys want the stickers off the old bins you can use a low temp heat gun to heat up the adhesive and then you can get them off easy and re stick it again.

To my understanding ARS sells their snake racks to things like venom Labs where they may have hundreds of snakes in there, or I'd imagine some zoos might have ARS racks for breeding purposes, or other similar uses that different companies may have.

I think Emily and Ed are super heroes with their ability to say, " he/she should be ready to breed in two or three years," without sounding annoyed or impatient, like are you not dying to see the babies Stripy will produce!
I showed my niece the video about Thomas, because she’s five and critters are cool. She was also born with what they call “trigger thumb”, so animals that have limb differences are interesting to her. I showed her again cause she just had it fixed, and she gave him a thumbs up (it was bent and she couldn’t unbend until after surgery) and said “Thomas my special thumb got better! Your leg gets better every day!” 🥰

@@maxrules1402 the tendon in her thumb couldn’t slide properly, so she couldn’t straighten her thumb. It happens in adults sometimes too, but my niece was just born with her “special thumb”. They think it’s a difference in length between the ligament and the tendon but they aren’t sure what causes it when it’s a birth defect like hers. She had just turned five when she was big enough for the surgery to fix it, and her stitches just got taken out a few weeks ago. They had her do some stretches and she was always giving people the thumbs up because she can unbend it’s now 😂

Cute story for you two: I have a cabin in the woods, and it is SO serene and peaceful, and then a snake appeared. I grab a Rubbermaid storage tub and told my hubby, "We have to re-home this thing. It has to go away from our cabin ASAP." My hubby, and kids were shocked, I am a HUGE lover of wildlife. I sit down on the deck where my snake pal likes to sun himself, and one of your videos comes up on the news feed on my phone. My snake pal appears, and I decide to find out what type of snake he/she is. Turns out our snake is a black racer, and he/she doesn't fear people at all, which CAN be unnerving. I saw that snakes little face, and heard Emily's voice in my head, well we named our "neighbor" Woody. Our snake friend lives in the woodpile behind the cabin, and is staying as long as their little heart desires. I just wanted to let you know that your love for snakes softened my fears a bit! Thank you from Woody, and I.

Heat tape actually doesn't take that much power to run. My 3" wide tape uses 4 watts per foot, so my 24" wide 10 shelf rack only uses 80 watts, about the same as a light bulb.

After 3 years of begging for a snake and after three years of researching, a couple of months ago my mom allowed me to finally get supplies for a snake. I went back and forth on what snake I wanted, from king snake to garter snake I settled on a ball python! In August I finally got my first snake, Cricket! She escaped her cage for 3 weeks but we found her and even after that she is still a great eater! My mom was convinced she wouldn't fall in love but now Cricket is loved by everyone in my family! I hold her regularly and she is super used to being handled and has striked a few times they were just bluff strikes. She eats large mice and is a juvenile! She's doing great thanks to your care advice!

What I love about Emily & Ed are that they are focused on education and informing the public rather than gate keeping and shaming.
As they should, when animals are kept incorrectly, they always make sure to bring it up so such mistreatments don’t get repeated, but they don’t make videos shaming people who feel that their reptiles deserve better homes.
Of course, when one gets any pet, one should plan ahead and prepare to ensure the happiness and wellbeing of the animal for the rest of its life. But life throws curveballs all the time, and unexpected circumstances happen to people all the time. It’s important that people know that rehoming is an option if it means the maximum benefit for the animal.

I would love to see a video where you show how you keep track of who has eaten and when they eat next and stuff! If you store or discard the cards with what and when they ate how you know who needs to eat next. I’m always thinking about it trying to figure out how you keep track of all the feeding and care you have to do! Love your videos!

my long distance friend has been in love with snakes for years and has two of her own. snakes scared me until I found your channel and now I want one more than anything! i went to message her the second I became completely smitten with them. then it turned out she found her love of snakes through your channel as well. some things are just meant to be and im taking it as a sign that I definitely need a snake of my own someday. but neither of us would have found our passion for snakes if it weren't for you and i can't thank you enough for that!

They use them in their bioactive enclosures for the springtails and isopods, but she also used to make snake shed jewelry...idk if she still is, b/c they’re incredibly busy. Edit: good eye. I did not even notice them.
