Love the video. Stunning presenter - quite captivating! Lovely broadcasting style - you speak so eloquently. Should be on mainstream television. What fools they are by comparison. True beauty and brains.

Thank you Olivia for a wonderfully educational video. I bought some Alchemilla plants, heven't planted them yet and found your video when I was looking for tips to grow them. I love the historical background of the plant and how much you enjoy the plant yourself. You''ll be an asset to the gardening world, I'm so glad to have found your channel.

please keep my view to view the plant in front of you while you present as I want to study the plant as you lecture. Love ❤️ your health, no makeup looks. Beautiful women do not need makeup!!! Also I came across a beginner gardening book for kids. It showed how to plant this in a container or rock garden. It recommends the Lady’s Mantle but I did not know what it was in the America so I went to your site to guide me on it’s use. The book recommends this plant as having small roots along with Caraway, Tickseed Early Sunrise, Cosmos Sonata Carmine & Sonata White, Avens, English Lavender, Orchid primrose, Balkan Clary. Nancy Welch from Michigan. 😊

I was wondering what kind of soil mixture is best for this kind of plant? I just picked up a few of these today

This is a very unfussy plant and will grow in any soil type as long as it has some moisture especially when establishing. We are on very sandy soil and it behaves quite well but if your soil is very fertile keep a close eye on it as it can self seed quite prolifically.

Thank you. Very informative. Alchemilla mollis is often mentioned as a drought tolerant plan due to its grey/green leaves and hairs which repel moisture. Do you have any thoughts on this? 😊

      Hi Angela
I have never heard Alchemilla mollis used as a drought tolerant plant. I always thought that it preferred moist but well drained soil. It is however pretty unfussy and grows on any soil type including our very sandy, free draining soil. I do find in a dry summer it goes a bit brown and crispy though!

@@MurphysGarden Thank you. I have checked the RHS and you're right in that it prefers moist well drained soil. There is the common understanding in horticulture however that most plants with grey/green furry leaves tend to be more drought tolerant than those with average green leaves. Love this video however. Very thorough. 😊

Spring or autumn is best but it can be planted in summer so
long as you keep it well watered until it establishes.

what's the benefit of such a plant? Does it attract wildlife? Does it sprout flowers?

    • @MurphysGarden

It has lots of benefits and is used medicinally to treat a range of health conditions, especially gynaecological issues. It has lime green clusters of flowers which are honey scented and attractive to pollinating insects and it flowers from June to September so is good at filling gaps and is a good backdrop to other more colourful flowers.
      Hope this helps
