- Today we invite Scar to check out my newly built storage room featuring a handy shulker swapping organization system. We use our moss factory to power a new bonemeal bamboo farm.
Then we head over to the Frogger game to do some testing with Cubfan and Bdubs, and focus on fine-tuning the game mechanics for it.

Oo that gives me an idea for the Frogger game! What about "badges"/"achievements"/custom items that you collect for score? And a way to keep track of *which* items you get, so if you can predict certain situations that the hermits might get in playing the game, and if those align with places on the roads/areas, those items would be dropped specifically there
One of them could be "but did that make you jump?" And other hermit/etho references
"Ladders. I go up and I go down."
Ravager name ideas:
-A School Bus
-a Little Old Lady
-Ethos Frog
-Skill Issue
-a bad Driver
-Traffic Jam
-Traffic
-Exhaust Leak
-Taxi
-E-fish-ency V
My favorites are "a little old lady," "skill issue" and "a bad driver" lol
Some other ideas are:
-Boredom
-Allergies
-Thanos' Snap
-Laughing Too Hard
-Their Lack of Self Control
-Voldemort
-The Imposter
-Questionable Descisions

Tango you're great!
You're nothing compared to Etho.
For the Zombie (Snake) in your frogger game, you could add a villager on each side of the moss and have it alternate showing the villager to the zombie so it’ll walk back and forth instead of always following the player
Good idea!
The wiki says:
If a zombie sees a player and a villager together, the zombie prefers to attack the player first. A zombie already chasing a villager continues to do so even if the player is near, until the player attacks it.
I think this means there might be complications when alternating
@@janfilby7086 I would think that would just require a starting area so you can make sure the zombie agros on the villiager until you get closer. Maybe idk though
@@shelymarks952 but let's say, when the zombie loses sight of the right villager so that it will target the left (by blocking sight of line with a piston), the zombie will instead target the player. I haven't played in a long time so yeah, it's still worth testing
Edit: unless you want it to just hug the walls, until player gets close which could work
@@janfilby7086 exactly, so it would more likely just randomize where the zombie is before you start as once the villagers switch once your out of the starting box it would agro on the player
you can always use carpets for 'potholes' and with the honey, they become much more effective. its also a very easy way for you to change up the pattern so the hermits dont find a repeatable path.
Came here to say this too! Great taste 🤗
Also I think the carpet looks the most like asphalt even though it's "2012" frogger came out in the 1980s!
Smart
I was also thinking of slow falling potions, for a sprint jump disadvantage.
In addition to the carpet potholes in some spots all over the road in general I'm wondering about maybe some snow layers for potholes at some of the painted lines in the road. Blend with the lighter color somewhat and also get to control how much it dips down instead of needing to go all the way down to carpet height.
It's too bad there aren't more things in the vanilla game with that snow layers behavior though. Imagine if there was ash, for example. Layers of ash would work much nicer than the carpet for shaping some dents into the road.
Hm, any decent trapdoors for this? That's something that'd be thinner than a slab and thicker than carpet. Probably aren't any that'd look good as part of a road, though.
As every programmer knows you spend the first half of the project doing 80% of the work, and then in the second half you do the other 80% of the work. Great job sticking with the game!
And then you come back with a second project to fix everything by rewriting it all. And then the third project...
Mumbo's 80-20 principle has turned into Etho's 80-80 principle.
Do not remind me.
*glares at his mod*
I love the slabs over the honey because in order to go fast you have to jump, which makes you feel like a frog! Great episode as always btw 😁
The way the player jumps on the honeyed slabs really makes me think of a little frog hopping along, so I think it works out really well ^^
I thought the exact same thing. Looks just like little frog hops 😂

For the ending of the Frogger game, those frogs gave me an idea... each one leads to deals only for a specific froglight color! So, if you want the green froglights at a lower price, you have to get in to a specific frog's mouth to purchase it. It will shake things up and force players to try different paths, as well as tying the game more closely into the shop!
It sounds like they need to activate all of them to win the game and they only get froglights if they win. So this doesn't quite work how you think it does.
@@1Jamesinator I mean its also not set in stone yet, I don't see why this concept wouldn't be possible as well. TBH I could see both being a thing, you could either aim for one froglight color and only have to win once (but you only get that color and you have to aim for a specific frog) or you could activate all 3 to win in general.
@@1Jamesinator They just gave an idea, they didn’t say that’s how they think it currently works
+1
@@1Jamesinator I think his original plan is to have it so winners get froglights, but old mates suggestion is only a discount on the colour you make it to.
Having watched a LOT of the decked out building and ravager wrangling process, I feel the need to save you from further heartache by gently reminding you that fishing rods are great for nudging ravagers into various places...
Etho is in his cute era with the hermit statues & cutie frogs. Ethouwu indeed.
Don’t forget the storage system!
I’m a huge fan of the way you’ve recreated the feel of the original Frogger game! You could possibly add soul sand underneath the center block where Snake is at to slow down his tracking and allow people more variety. Still incentivizes getting out of the grassy area though
Yeah currently Snake seems a little too fast. I like that idea, thanks!
@@EthosLabthank you for responding!
@@EthosLab If slowing down the player in the centre is a problem then maybe slowness potions would actually be useful here instead.
soul speed boots and soulsand would also work
An endermite could also work. It looks kind of like a snake and it might track the player a bit less during the road part.
In the Frogger game, you could add "oil slicks" on the road that are just covered up ice to add some variation
Ooh that sounds really cool! I had a similar idea where Etho would decorate each road lane a different season so like one might be winter themed with snow piles and icy roads, kinda like your idea, or maybe a spring themed one with flowers but some of them are wither roses that might damage you and knock you into a ravager. I love reading all these creative ideas in the comments and I hope Etho takes inspiration from them :))
Hahaha now that's pure evil
Slip right into the ravager's face XD
Keralis showed Grian how to make thin stripes to define his parking lot at the permit office using light color signs under dark carpet. That would look great for your road
Wouldn't work here because of the honey beneath.
Couldn’t wait longer for an Etho‘s video that I am watching this episode for the second time
The obstacles on the road should be stuff like traffic signs/lights, a fire hydrant, bench/busstop. I think that would elevate the look
Yeah that is a good call. I might be able to do some cool detail stuff if I use banners.
@@EthosLabyou could use honey blocks with carpets on them as potholes that slow you down
@EthosLab Maybe Cleo can set up some armor stands, if the hitboxes won't get in the way.
I like the idea of street islands with berry bushes on them 😊
"The trick is to not worry about making it too accurate to frogger" - etho, two episodes before adding not just every feature from frogger, but even more features than that
etho is too good
To be fair, he isn't making it accurate to frogger. Those extra features aren't accurate at all.
Pshh, still missing the floating logs. lol

20:40 You should name your "frogger ravagers" something like: "Sunday Driver #1", "Sunday Driver #8"... so the game gets more "personal",
so people becomes like: "Damn that Sunday Driver #11 always gets me!" :D
I think the frogs look perfect. Just frog enough to be frogs, just goofy enough to make the mini game more fun!
Another benefit of using the 5 individual tracks with dedicated ravagers is that you'll be able to rename the water ravagers to be actual "alligators" instead of "sunday drivers" somehow running you over in the water!
you do drive boats that have engines... obvious not if you row them... but yes, dedicated "alligators" would be pretty cool.
I mean, with how Sunday drivers are, finding them in the water wouldn't surprise me at all 😂

My god he did it again. Casually reinventing storage in minecraft. I think it's the first time i have ever seen a storagesystem with redstone that i could imagine myself making.
It feels like etho is going through different phases of minecraft cultivation, from simple to complex only to arrive back at simplicity with and understanding of its complexity.
I love the frogs, they're super cute and immediately recognisable. Honestly, the whole thing is looking amazing, and I love seeing all the thought you put into each step. It's also really fun hearing you explain things to another Hermit (redstone stuff especially) because they get to ask you questions about it in the moment, and they're usually similar to questions I have, so I learn more that way. I hope all of the Hermits start doing inter-Hermit base and project tours!
I love how Etho is like *THE* storage guru of Minecraft. Especially the smaller Hermitcraft storage solutions always look like something I myself would want to build in my base!
i agree! i had such a habitual storage system for my own enchanting areas in any new world... then i saw how he organized his and switched immediately! lol
Weeell...I almost feel like Etho is T H E Minecraft Guru in general. The man has been finding smart solutions to technical problems others do not even realize they exist for over a decade. He has been building with a philosophy and aesthetic others couldnt imagine for over a decade. He has been finding a way to do shenanigans, compose music, play pranks and build games that others would not even think of for over a decade. BUT most importantly he still manages to have a lot of fun playing the same game every day for over a decade..and that takes some serious skill and ingenious creativity. When I started watching Etho I was 14 and back then I thought..wow this freaking guy thats damn smart! Now I am 24 and I think wow this freaking guy thats damn smart, looks great and I sort of understand it because that damn guy is a great teacher as well. LONG LIVE ETHO. As long as I breathe and he uploads I will find the time to lay down, watch and think damn this guy what a great entertainer.
I think he and I have a similar thought process when it comes to storage. With shulker boxes, there really is no point to having huge storage systems like many create. Unless you are actively just mining tons and tons of material, your personal storage system should be one configured to how you play the game.
For example, similar to Etho, I tend to group similar items together that don't tend to pile up and it's greatly reduced my storage system size and made it easier to drop off and look for items. It's totally manual, but I've found the auto sorter system just doesn't work with my play style, especially playing on servers that aren't meant to be super long term.
i do love me some storage systems! and his are my favorite
Etho is in a golden age fr. The storage tech, the frogger, the FROGS!!
hes always been in a golden age

Those decorative frogs, the "short little stubby guys" - they look so good! They do give off that vintage Frrogger vibe, just perfect!
I think the half slabs are perfect for the feel of frogger because you have that tiny little hop. I think you should have the player bring buckets of tadpoles over the roads!
mumbo's confusion and adoration of the statues on his video was so funny :)
I was really hoping that we'd get a clip of that, maybe even a quick screenshot
In a recent tango stream Etho said that he only made the Etho and joel statues... So we are up for some shenanigans from another hermit I think.
I agree with Pearl, having someone over for a tour as a way to show off a build creates more dynamic content and I enjoy it!
ETHO, for scorinng for the frogger game you could have an item counter at the end. You pick up tokens and coins along the way. The player could also be wearing really low durability armor so when they get hit the armor breaks. the armor also gets counted in the scoring at the end.
more items=higher score
etho has inspired me to tear out the storage room i have in my current survival world and put this shulker organization in. it's simply better, and this is my new storage system with every base in the future
Scar dying by flying into the ceiling was so funny
To make the lilly pad area more challenging, you could add dispensers above them that will shot snowballs to disable the pads. Kind of like the logs that rise and sink
Plus 1 to this, that sounds cool
Genius. And/Or even just log blocks on sticky pistons set to an "Etho Hopper Clock" to go up and down.
I loved Snake's look of confusion when the moss block was destroyed. He seems like a *solid* addition to the game 😉😂
I think the carpet on the honey block will be fine. It's a game and the way it works is so much more important than looking the best. The hermits will be too worried about staying alive to think [well Etho should really have used diamonds there] as long as Frogger finally is made all will be fine. Your frogs are cute.
I'm not sure why BDubs always becomes an assortment of collectibles each season, but I appreciate it.

How do you always manage to impress me, even years after I first found your videos? Love the game, and how hard you are working to keep it faithful to the original.
Two suggestions:
1. Use more orange and white for the road obstacles, to mimic construction cones and road work signs
2. Give Snake a sword with enough damage to kill in two hits (similar to the ravagers) and knockback. This way, players don’t get stuck and take a chain of quick hits, and they can choose to gamble health for a small boost into the water section.
As always,
Take care and keep up the great videos
I've been going through Etho Plays Minecraft series from like 13 years ago, and seeing his Frogger game here made me happy to see he put some time into doing that game again! I felt nostalgic, somewhat.
Absolutely love an Etho shopping segment, it's so fun to see Hermits actually use the shops that we've seen built.
I feel like a needy british street urchin and etho just dropped a copper in my cap. Off to the gin shop lads
Pip pip, ol' boy!
when an etho video pops up and you just let out a "cor thanks mister!"
Suggestion for Etho. For frogger you could put moss carpets on honey blocks to separate the roads. That way it would clearly be individual roads so it doesn’t look like a parking lot, plus it would slow players down even more when they cross them!
I think it'd be great if you incorporate some of the carpet/honey parts as some of the obstacles in the road, like proper potholes. That way you get a mix of both movement types and you can take out some of those red glass gates on the road to mix up the obstacle types. Absolutely loving the build and can't wait to see where it goes!
Your perseverance in things is insane. I don’t know if I would ever have the will power to redo, problem solve, and fix the same projects over and over again like you do. Mad respect.

he did this to scar already lol. the Canadian maple syrup prince, iirc
I don't know how to tell you this but Etho literally already did that
revolutionizing storage once again, this is probably my new favorite system. also really loving the cool ways youre incorporating crafters into farms!
Carpeted honeyblocks would make for great potholes to replace the fences. Easy to avoid normally, but I think with the game running the chaos will make for some funny stumbles when they forget to look where they're stepping. Also might be a good idea to honeyblock the 'snake' lane to make it less of a mad dash through the first section. Snakes in frogger don't tend to stalk the player if I remember correctly but that'd be tough to work around in the space in another way. Call it a Minecraft special to have a slow heavy hitting zombie at least try to ambush the player. The point being to not overpower the intricate ravager mechanic with a zombie that's always going to hit you since it seems the test runs didn't involve dodging or stalling to check the zombie. A final addition would be some cobwebs or something along the walls, to preempted any easy cheese strats. If they can manage to still hug the walls without that hurting them, they deserve the respect for towing such a thin line haha!
In the distant future though, an interesting expansion theme would be ice levels or spider dens. Another fun idea would be replacing the ravagers with zombies, pigmen also snake for a pop-up witch for some fun underworld/cavern levels.
*! VERY IMPORTANT INFO FOR ETHO !*
You can unstuck the ravagers by placing a minecart in between them!
There are two ways: Ether place the minecart from the side of a rail, which is sadly not possible in most cases here,
HOWEVER you can also place dispensers below the rails, facing up, which will place the minecart!
This should help with maintenance quite a bit, especially in hard to reach areas!
Heck there might even be a chance to automate this, by chain activating them and sorting the empty minecarts out when they reach the holding zone. And a furnace minecart and/or just one-way sections for additional empty minecart cleanup help!
Good idea! If the redesign doesn't solve this issue, this might be the easiest fix!
I made a quick demonstration vid and its a really simple and effective fix!
Etho doesnt allow links, so you have to edit it a bit or look on my channel:
[RUclips]/watch?v=z60F6G1EP7w
I made a quick demonstration and its a really simple and effective fix! If you want to see it, I put it in my "Unlisted" playlist
Ok but now that you mentioned sorting empty minecarts, he could also just have activator rails (those are the ones that will eject mobs from a cart, right?) sending them all into an actual holding pen, and then pick up ravagers with the recycled empties. I guess thus also assumes they will enter a minecart fast enough for the game.
@@JD2jr. Yes that also works, but you can detect with a simple piece of string if there is an entity in the minecart and filter it out based on that. Its really easy and space efficient.

Something to consider with the Frogger minigame, making some spots have no honey or even carpeted parts over the honey for pot holes can allow the players to learn possible patterns/paths to want to take, similar to the drip leaf section having an "quick path". They honey under the road makes the players hop like Frogger to move across the game which is very nice for feeling like a frog crossing the streets.
Loving every Hermitcraft episode! Keep inspiring others to make fun builds!
Good idea!
I was also thinking of having the players take damage before playing so they don't get two chances of being hit, only one, which is more akin to the original.
it been over 10 years of watching your videos my childhood omg
Can't believe you did that run for Bdubs with only 1 heart and made it.
It is a valid game design to have the player be forced to fail and blame the game. It actually causes you to play more because then the player doesn’t always feel sad they were not good enough, they sometimes can vent at the game itself which breaks up failures being always sad. The road being random and the lily pads being skillful might actual be a genius design, you can blame the game early on, but after it’s all on you.
It’s one of the reasons frogger is super random and the sequences feel impossible sometimes, they actually are. But then you play again to get better luck.
dark souls cope
I disagree with this take. At the end of the day, a game is supposed to be fun. Challenge adds to the fun of a game, but too much of it can start to feel annoying and if the player starts to blame the game it starts to feel pointless playing it bc the game feels unfair. However, if the player blames themselves, then they feel that they need to improve and better their skills instead of hating how the game works. Idk, this is just my 2 cents.

Considering you are a frog, I think I prefer the half slabs since it means the player is constantly jumping around as their movement. Really helps them get into character!
I believe hiding the track behind the columns would also help. Now you see the ravages coming from miles ahead and you can anticipate too much
The frogger game is really evolving! I never imagined the possibilities. The storage solutions are so awesome. Etho is an excellent example of a player really using the full potential of the mechanics of the game.
The Frogs look great! Now that the roads are a half slab , you could definitely put carpet on some honey blocks instead as the potholes, which also slow players down more compared to the slabbed sections and add a dodging element that isn't above the road height
The evolution of the Googler, in a way, because I find this new system much more intuitive and also the much easier to understand the minimal redstone. Really love watching Etho organizational systems.
For the Snake, if it's too fast you could put honey blocks beneath moss carpets every X blocks until it's at a good speed. Like, 3 normal blocks between every honey block to give it a little bit of a slowdown.
I really like the slabs with honey because when you jump sprint, it looks like you are hopping, kinda like a frog.
For Frogger, it could be interesting to have only 3 exits which match the 3 colors of frog lights. Whichever exit the player gets, they receive more of that color. This way if they lose partly through the round, they still get bonus of a color they are after.
oh to be ethos frog

People might still be able to get into the closed doors in frogger if they jump while shifting.

The frogger game is very well done. I've been subscribed to the channel since 2014 and have seen the previous iterations on the single player let's play. It's so satisfying to see a minecraft frogger not only done, but hugely improved upon. The logic, the obstacles, the water section all come together to make a seriously fun looking game. Not so hard as to be impossible or overly frustrating, but hard enough to be a fun challenge.
Very cool to see it all come together!
The storage system is so great, it’s something that I could actually try and build, and it’s compact. I’m excited to try it!

If you can figure out a way to send double cars for the frogger game. It will make it a bit harder.
I suggest having a second row of ravagers in storage above the main storage line. Then a randomizer would eject a ravager from the 2nd line to fall onto the track and follow a 1st line ravager. Making a double car.
To restore the ravagers, a check can be done at the last slot in the 1st storage line to flip a track to go up to the 2nd storage line.
I think it would be a really cool idea to make the carpet potholes on your fogger level for the road
I saw in Tango's stream that when they start, they can make long jumps, because starter line doesn't have honey blocks underneath, so it makes it easier on the road part...
The thing I love about Etho is when he first starts a project you think it’s just a simple project but then you see that throughout the episodes it blooms into one of the most thought out and executed projects of the Hermitcraft season. (I.E. Frogger)
Etho basically said he treats his item storage systems like Nintendo or Yzma. “This is ethos item storage system, he gets a new one about every season or so. This seasons model is called Kronk”
Frogger is turning out so cool! Just an idea for if the ravagers get backed up/in a traffic jam again, you could probably use a fishing rod to get them separated from each other if needed.
on the 3 frog builds - try switching between the full block above the eye and the eye itself
You know after a few years of Comp Sci watching Etho explain redstone and automatically translating into coding/logic and understanding it is very satisfying
