I love how the horns have become such a chaos that the hermits dont even know anymore whether a person speaking is an actual person or just a horn
It's like AI voice cloning. Cub created a monster. Combine that with the Maple Prince and Iskall's unfinished real estate and we've got the season of scams on the horizon.
I do worry that some of them will start to get annoyed by them before too long though...

I’m the kind of geeky dork who was grinning like an idiot while Scar was in his own video getting nerdy and talking about how the Death Star has changed visually over the years. I love Star Wars. A lot. Maybe it’s not Gem’s thing, maybe she simply never had a friend/family member to introduce her to it growing up. Still hurt a bit to hear she didn’t know what a Death Star was.

A Star Wars watch party with Gem and Scar is JUST what my summer needs!
You saying that if someone came over and saw what you were doing, they would think you had no idea how to build; that is a very comforting statement for someone trying to get into organics like these. Because when I pop down a couple goofy looking shapes and actually have no clue where I'm going with it, I find it pretty hard to not just tear it down immediately because I feel like I'm making a hunk of ugly diamond blocks
Wow. Just the LOCATION of Gem's Ocean Shop gave me build ideas. Specifically, a shop where the floor is just *under* the surface of the water, and all bottom half, water logged slabs, so when you walk in you're walking in half a block of water, like the place is flooded, but in reality, it's built in a lake, with proper supports going to the lake floor. It's just that the supports are *one block* too short, so the store is just that little bit under the water.
It is not one block too short, it is merpeople accessible.
like those "flooded" ruins someplace in southeast Asia or Oceania, I forgor where.
I was kinda hoping for an aquatic conduit-enabled storefront section in the sea, myself. For pickles and coral and Tridents in their "natural" habitats.
@@calebadam2576 Well, remember. Gem's build will include more of a store lower down. This was just my own idea, based off where she chose to put her build.
@zachwillett5853 True, but given the general theme I'd love to see more aquatic stuff; water and a conduit allows for some really interesting verticality in a build compared to grounded designs, and provides challenging variety to convert land-based lighting and Redstone to an underwater environment.
Plus I'm just a sucker for underwater bases and the like.
For those unaware, “sell space in an unfinished building, use the money to pay for construction” is a big part of how corporate real estate works IRL. And someone halfway through the process running out of money and declaring bankruptcy or vanishing, leaving everyone owning parts of a half-finished structure isn’t unheard of. Which, yes, is an insane way to run an industry.

@@Jay-mm4dp I’m going to spend money now for property later, that I HOPE will be constructed in the way I was told it will be, when it’s scheduled to be completed, and that there won’t be any major bad shifts in the market between now and then. And if anyone screws up in the process and runs out of money, we’re all screwed.
Yes, I can see how this might be an investment that’s worth the risk. I also just think it’s a very stupid way to finance construction.
My home city had this guy try and build a hotel in the main tourist area. First, he had to start over because the ground was unstable. Then, he built the parking garage and ran out of money. It's been sitting there, boarded up, for decades, collecting graffiti with its fading sign advertising what it was supposed to be. My best guess is he's hoping either the other hotels or the city get tired of the eyesore and buy it off him.
That's not capitalism. That _is_ what happened in China, though, with many of their unfinished cities. That's *corruption.*
Capitalism (consumerism) is you saying "I want to buy a computer" and several people offer you a computer a different prices with different specs. Then you _choose_ which one you want to buy. You have both agreed on an exchange of goods and you both come out better for it.
Consumerism (capitalism) is why people in "poverty" today have cell phones, which the rich didn't have even 50 years ago.
My employer is supposed to move into their new building in a few months-lease terminated on the current property and everything.
The "new building" is currently a mostly excavated pit.

Instead of selling tridents, you could rent them out for a week. Have different prices for enchantments and an extra fee if it breaks. The hermit should also leave their head under the trident they rent

I gotta say, I LOVE the trident shop, the statue looks incredible! Also I appreciate you talking about having the stage where you just kinda want to give up and take it down, because I have that with almost everything I build. It's so reassuring to hear that one of my favorite Hermits and inspiration for my own builds is struggling with the same thing sometimes but pushing through and getting amazing results in the end!
Gem's idea of a summer Star Wars marathon just so Scar is slightly happier is so wholesome!!
For the underwater pickle and coral shops you could take inspiration from the Siren fortresses on the game "Sea of Thieves." Could even add a swimming mini game as well.
Or like .. idk stuff
You could redo the base of the statue later, and incorporate some coral and sand. Make it seem like the statue's been lifted from the bottom of the ocean - and then put the coral shop inside of the "coral reef base"

I felt a great disturbance in the Force, as if millions of voices suddenly sighed in exasperation.
Turn the water column falling from the Shop's hand into a bubble elevator for people to get up to the shop. They can always jump off to get down, but it would be a really cool way to enter the shop: The hand is summoning the water up from the lake and into her hand, carrying Hermits with it if they want.
I really love your builds Gem! If only i could build like that too..

Suggestion for the trident shop - place a lightning rod at the tips of the tridents, so if there's ever a lightning storm, it'll be free marketing.

Love the statue; you're so talented with proportion and shape--especially in Minecraft! This might have been harder than a skirt or leg, but a mermaid tail would also look really cool on this!
