    Your sketch is already cleaner than my lineart

      Haha! Well, this was a "clean-up" sketch... meaning I had an initial rough sketch, then sketched over that - to refine it! :) Don't worry pal! There's nothing wrong with a messy sketch! I love em!

    Brush- Tool Options - Stabilized - turn off delay - set distance to 200.
    My line art was hella smooth afterwards

    • @allft3838
      @allft3838 5 лет назад +6

      Lunar use the pen (hotkey : b) and then at top right there should be tool options. When you click that there is a tiny box that I think says basic or none. Click the box and the stabilizer option is at the bottom.

    One of the things that really confused me is that a lot of teachers tell you not to "chicken scratch" or "pet the line" when doing line art, which led me to believe that you're supposed to do single strokes for *every* line in a drawing. Thanks for the tips!

    • @dreamcyfer7793
      @dreamcyfer7793 2 года назад +2

      I think how ever you need work your tools to create and enjoy creating can't be "wrong", it's just not how someone else does it and sure teachers are paid to teach how "they" do it and "their" process...but when you are in your own space and time there are no "rules" when it comes to creation, just general practices that tend yield a more pleasing product or maybe save time....nothing more or less. My opinion is that these "rules" are what got me to not create a thing for nearly 15 years, when I just started making things I thought were interesting without judgement I got going...then came back to some techniques, but once burnt twice shy when comes to the "s'posta's", as I call em. Forget what supposed to do, just do as thy will harm none. Period. Ya dig?

    • @hihie2195
      @hihie2195 2 года назад +1

      Teachers tell you to not chicken scratch because chicken scratching leads to bad habits and inhibit your learning process.
      Drawing single, continuous lines will enable more mistakes, but in turn train up your motor skills.
      You can go back to chicken scratching if you have learnt how to draw without chicken scratching.

      YES! Ctrl-Z should always be a very close friend :D Depending on the art style, I'll use it more or less. With this clean edge line art... I tend to use it a LOT... but, a more messy sketch style line art... not as much :) You do NOT suck :D

    • @TutsByKai
      @TutsByKai  5 лет назад +46

      A lot of work? No no! Where'd you get that from?! It's exactly the opposite! :D Digital IS MUCH easier than traditional. Traditional costs money, every time you want to paint something. Traditional can't be undone. Tradition is always a one of a kind, unless you make more than one. Digital is the no-brainer to me :)

    Another way to change the line color is to simply click Lock Alpha (the checkerbox) on that layer and wash over the lineart you want to change with the new color, though clipping group you show is nice because it's non-destructive and you undo it by simply deleting the sublayer.

    An other way to change the color of the lineart and pretty much everything that you drew on a layer is by just clicking on the little chessboard at the top or where the layers are listed. If you then color the layer, you can only color the things that you already drew

    • @TutsByKai
      @TutsByKai  4 года назад

      You mean creating a layer at the top, then setting it to screen (or another blending mode), and dropping the opacity? I do this for photomanipulation - but for drawing, I like to have more control over what colors go where and how strong they are :)

    @ubuntujackson9133 4 года назад +1

    So 0:55 changing the pressure there is the only thing you need to do in able to get both edges of the line sharp? It's normal that you need to move while starting the line for the start of the line to become pointy?

    • @TutsByKai
      @TutsByKai  4 года назад

      If you whip the tail of the line, it should have a "pointy" end. For the start of the line, you'll have to start soft, then press harder to get a sensitivity to your liking.

    • @ubuntujackson9133
      @ubuntujackson9133 4 года назад

      It doesn't work even if I whip the tail. Did you only change the pressure on the brush? If that's not the case what else did you configure with the brush?

    What's the flaw with scanning an actual drawing in and importing it
    Words can describe how much I hate drawing on this site but I'd like to use it for coloring since it's all I have access to

      Not much. Well... unless you plan to use the lines as your final line art. If you do that, the lines will more than likely not be clear enough... but scans work GREAT for sketches!

    I know I'm really late in this video, but I recently got into drawing on the computer and on krita, and I've been having an annoying problem! I followed all the tips you and everyone else gave me, but the main problem I know have is that my ink is really pixelated! I have my pen size to 4 and 5, yet when I zoom in to ink, the lines aren't as clear as yours and it's extremely pixelated. One more thing that adds on to that is that with my pressure, the pixel's opacity (i think?) changes and my lines end up being really ragged! I'm probably sounded dumb right now but some help would really be appreciated!

    • @TutsByKai

      Bezier curves are only good for if you're drawing without a digital art tablet OR for if you need to create a 100% straight or perfectly curved line! I wouldn't use them for regular line art.

    How do I make the lines themselves smooth and not pixelated at the edges?

    • @TutsByKai
      @TutsByKai  5 лет назад +1

      When you zoom in super close, the lines will always be "pixelated", that's the nature of raster graphics. You're literally just painting a bunch of pixels... you're just so zoomed out, you can't see it. If you want your lines to be 100% smooth NO MATTER how far you zoom into them... you HAVE to use vector graphics. Try out Inkscape! It's GREAT :)
