    hmm, for some reason, when I tried to do it (just a single part) the whole picture got coloured... is it maybe because of the line art is not 'enclosed'?

    • @DavidRevoy
      @DavidRevoy  4 года назад +138

      It's often because you put just a single color; try to put a second one to fill your background. (hard to tell, I can't see your monitor).

    • @abobbins
      @abobbins 4 года назад +76

      @@DavidRevoy Thanks for taking the time to reply. I had the exact same issue trying it out tonight. So I added more colours, and added white back to background where colour had bled out, and it sorted it. Obviously the algorithm gets better as it has more inputs to process.
      Thank you very much.
      Amazing tool.

    Man, that's so cool. I especially love the part where you showed the gaussian blur at the end. I've been having that issue where the color layer is too sharp and doesn't look good against the line art. I can't believe I never thought to add any blur filters to it.

    • @DavidRevoy
      @DavidRevoy  5 лет назад +31

      Thank you! On the future video I'll show how to add the blur in a non-destructive way (on the panel with the gaussian blur, you can click on "Create filter mask" then the filter will be dynamic and children of the pixeled color map. This video was already a bit too long to include this tip, and I also wanted to benchmarch first what filter is quicker for that: (Box) Blur or Gaussian Blur. Especially to paint on the top. Here I always used the destructive methods for my comics (when the color map is done, I rarely edit again or use fill tool bucket on it again), but that could be interesting to keep the flexibility of editing until the end of the artwork.

    I know this is old but thank you for this tutorial. In my 2nd month of using Krita, transitioning to digital art from pen & paper and coloring/shading/highlighting has easily been the thing that seperates my work from reaching that next level. Everything would look fine till I begin coloring. What I had been doing was just using regular brushes and manually doing everything in a paint layer, and only recently realized just how many people use masks tools to color their digital art and knew right away that it was part of what my work is missing. I'm excited to see how my next work comes out after trying this :)

    Some HINT here: I TESTED, and it is VERY IMPORTANT to color the line fill well on the sketch, ZOOM helps a lot, - IF you ONLY do PARTS of the sketch, the DOMINANT COLOR, color everything else, after RENDERING, it is BEST to give it time and COLOR whit precision (COLOR EVERYTHING) and you save a lot of time before rendering the sketch... /// McRoman ... PS: GREAT TOOL when KNOW HOW TO DO IT, BUT IT NEED A LOT OF PRACTICE and TESTING 4 SURE... This HINT makes me "LOVE" KRITA... ;) ... Also THX for sharing this KNOWLEDGE Mr. Revoy ...
