I been in the market since last november for sierra 1500 elevation trim with the 5.3 with a center shifter. They are hard to come by. And they want way too much money.
Well I'm in the US and my local GM dealers ( Chev and GMC ) lots are total full with new trucks. In the last 9 months they went from almost zero (O) new trucks in their lots, especially rare was the heavy Duty models beyond, to today where all the lots are full. Even the HD models are starting to stack up in inventory. The truck market has changed, even for GM. With all the high inflation, high MSRP's and higher interest costs, I think even GM is going to be in trouble in the near future.
HAHA over here GM dealers are moving trucks. It's Toyota and Ram that look stagnant with the lots filling up with Tundras nobody wants and Ram HD's that are showing signs of lot rot.
GM is offering 1.9% for 36 months and dealers are giving discounts on top of that. They're cheaper than competitors so it isn't surprising really. The biggest surprise is that the new (ugly) Tundra is really falling flat when it comes to sales. The San Antonio Tundra plant can build 200k Tundras per year and despite the Tundra being the newest half-ton truck with a new twin-turbo V6 that makes huge torque numbers, so far the sales numbers are very weak.
Best of luck with it. For $17k it wouldn't be my choice, but to each their own. I'd find a used, low mileage Corolla. They'll easily go 300k miles if well maintained and won't cost you a ton of money to get there. Not so sure you'd be able to do that with a Fiat.
They start at $50k before discounts and cheap financing. That's cheaper than most competitors. Don't whine about prices because you can't get the top tier trim for dirt cheap.
I bought a 2013 base truck, single cab 8’ bed for $14k with only 30k miles. It will last me the rest of my life. They can keep the $80k country club cruisers.
I have an 02 Ext cab LONG Bed. 4x4. I'll just fix whatever breaks. Lots of parts both new and used available and reasonably priced. Plus they are easy to work on yourself for basic stuff. They built them good back then. It's got 370k miles on original motor, trans and rear end and doing just fine.
You can get regular cabs with longer beds, you just have to order it because dealers don't want them taking up space. Nobody else buys them and the dealer usually has to take a hit on them.
GMC Sierra had their best 1st quarter in sales in the USA Jan-Mar 2024 in history !!! Ford held back 140,000 new 24 pickups until April 24 .. so dealers had to sell 23 models in the 1st quarter which lead to the decrease in sales in the US.

You have to keep them oiled, just like every other brand. Of all the brands I have owned, the Toyota trucks were the worst for rust. I had to drench them in fluid film or heavy gear oil to keep the rust under control.
All three of them Ford, GM and Stellantis have forgotten what a PU truck is about, a simple, reliable and fairly inexpensive vehicle that you use for getting work done. Some where along the line they got it in there heads that a PU is a luxury vehicle. You can barely even get a no-frills, regular cab with an 8 foot bed anymore. Not only did they deliver a new Tundra with even weirder proportions than the Titan XD, they have a ton of glaring design issues inside and out, and a lot of major engine failures. They failed to understand the market to the point that they only sold 135k Tundras last year when the San Antonio plant has the capacity to assemble well over 200k Tundras per year. Normally the newest truck on the market with a big powerful twin turbo V6 is enough to get a big sales boost but sales have been slow. And calling them minivans with 4WD? You're clowning yourself. They can tow more than ever, carry more payload than ever, have heavier duty axles and transmissions than any half-ton at any point in the past, and they do it while still getting 20+ MPG.
