I'm sad to see all this hate for the Chap. I admit, I'm not a fan of his playing. He has the most amazing ability to make all guitars sound the same (still I will never be as good as him). However, I love the guy for his personality and I wish people will troll less and love more.
Chappers and Lee have a dynamic. Rob shreds, Capt... Plays some soothing blues. This allows you to hear the gear in two very different contexts, allowing you to get a better idea of what the piece of gear sounds like and whether or not you will like it.
What's with all the hate on Rob? Let's not forget that he was one of if not the first person on RUclips that made cool videos about guitars and the Andertons channel would be nowhere near the size that it is today without his videos being there in the first place. You've all been spoilt by amazing players like Rabbea, Mick and Pete but Rob has an undeniable passion for music that should be appreciated by all fellow musicians. Rob in my mind is still an amazing player and teacher and if it wasn't for him I wouldn't have picked my guitar back up after leaving it unplaced for two years.
I like the little 'surprises' on these videos. Like when they were feeling the neck and it squeaked and when lee waves his hands about and a beach ball appears.
I think Rob is getting way too much shit these days. He is one of the pioniers of guitar playing on the youtube platform, he has played a major role in Andertons becoming as popular as they are, he built up his channel and helped the Andertons channel grow to a point where they can now basically exist on their own, he started a guitar brand which is growing every year offering great guitars, and he is part of a great band. He has never been the best guitar player on the platform (still a whole lot better than i am, let me tell you), that's not why people watch him. They watch him because he is a nice guy, with a great sence of humour and is an awesome human being, especially towards his friends. He is the nerd we all secretly are, deep down. For me it is the chemistry between him and the captain that is simply irreplaceable. You don't have to be a massive fan of his playing, but please give the man some respect.
Yes I agree. Stop with the hate rob stuff. Its unfounded. However rob could use slightly less distortion when demoing sounds. However that is not a criticism of rob. He is a great player and promoter of guitar playing.
Wasn't watching at 1:16 and thought that Chappers was just switching to his bridge pickup. That pinched bend was filthy. Major props Captain, your playing officially fooled me.
For those of you who don't want to have to look outside of this video for pricing, here's a guide: Plain Top: Expensive as shit. Figured Top: An extra one and a half grand for a pretty top.
...we all have our own way of playing the instrument. I love the combination of chapper&thecapt specially when it comes to gear reviews. Rob is also one of the people in the internet that inspires me to keep playing the guitar. And then I love the capt's knowledge about the history & info of the gears their presenting. This two gentlemen are part of the reason why i save a lot of money to buy good gears & spent a lot of time playing. More power on you two fr me in the other side of the world.
Rob's playing is as amazing as ever. Equally amazing is that I watched Captain's playing go from not as good as me to far better than me, in a matter of months. Killer progress.
Not sure why all the Chapman hate today... I still love you Rob and I'm more of a Lee type player. Enjoy the difference in how each player attacks the instrument. So informative for my own personal needs. Love the videos guys!
Why do Gibsons sound good in a Marshall if Marshall didn't exist when Gibsons were around? Because they designed the Amplifier with a Gibson plugged in, Lee :)
Love Andertons, fantastic guitar, amp & pedal info, they've really ignited my passion for taking up the guitar again! Great show lads keep up the good work.... Charlie
The Captain has become much more assured with his playing over the last year or so. He has benefited from having such great players on staff. The negativity focused at Rob is unfortunate. He's a talented musician. The whole reason for this show's success has little to do with playing, and a great deal to do with the fun atmosphere Lee and Rob create during their videos. There's no need to establish a ranking of all the Anderton's players. This is not a sport. All of them have their own touch, their own feel. That's how it should be.
I love both Lee and Chappers, but recently I've had some problems. Chappers just plays the same fast, repetitive high gain scales with a guitar that REALLY isn't made for that kind of stuff. The intro was a great example, with that tapping. I like Lee because he puts more emotion and feel into his playing, and he seems to even experiment when he plays, playing outside of scales. But of course, we all know Rabea is the best.
Holy crap - what got into Lee at 1:16? - massive MEAN long bend followed by a nice descending fusillade at 1:26. Someones been practicing. Frankly I enjoy the videos because if I have a day where I'm not inclined to get out of bed I watch these two playing and bantering and I get on with my day.
i bought a le paul Studio from Andertons in 2015 and have been playing ever since and it seems (ever since I replaced the crappy tuners) the sound has got better and better. The guitars you have demonstrated in this video don't seen as good. But after using it for over 2 or more years I'm sure that they be as good if not better than my Studio. I didn't mind the playing by either Rob or the Cap't as they give us a choice of how sounds with different styles of modern music let us appreciate the different genre of the understanding of art in this music. Get off your high heels and listen to the sound and music and art of this wonderful world'
They've just become 'investment opportunities' for men of a certain age. The complete opposite of the rock 'n roll guitar they started as. It's like Clapton playing the blues in his Armani suit.
Uhh...the sweet majestic sound and sight of the mighty bursts... :) Nothing quite like it. I have 2 of them already (one standard and one ES LP) and I still cant help smiling when I hear them through some nice amps. Thanks Cap and Chappers! Your shows are entertaining and fun to watch, and educating on a lot of occasions!
Not sure why all the negativity about Rob. To each their own but I personally have noticed that Robs playing during demos has changed. He has slowed down and been a bit more bluesy and I like it. As for his personality, he has matured a bit over the years, as some of us do. Subscriber or not, you must come and watch in order to be negative.
It would be good to hear these guitars in the hands of players that like to play clean, such as Pete, Mick or even Rabea. 50's Les Pauls are suppose to have very nice clean tones, almost Tele like.
I have a '16 black beauty...Yep, super pricey...But something is worth what others are willing to pay for it...No regrets on the purchase...They are amazing guitars and nothing looks better in my opinion...Love your videos guys
WOW! We now know that a huge percentage of the viewers of these videos are British - build them up and knock them down! When someone builds and creates something themselves, they can do whatever they like. They're not obliged to do what you prefer. Without sounding too poncy - good vibes emanate from Chappers and he's an absolute breath of fresh air compared to most bellends on RUclips!
God knows I'm a negative bastard, but really, there's no point condemning these guitars for being expensive. Rich people will always favour Champagne over Prosecco, even though it is basically the same stuff. The fact it is ten times more expensive is half of the appeal. Same with guitars. The point is, if all you can afford is an Epi, you shouldn"t feel that you are missing out. There isn't much difference these days.
If you want some mellow tasty solos, listen to Rob's solo EP that's coming out soon. Or a bunch of great Dorje songs. Sometimes us guitarists are just in a more shreddy than bluesy mood.
For all those that are telling us your unsubscribing, just go no one cares that you're leaving. And for those that are bagging Chappers, you can join them. I don't see any of you with half a million subscribers. Keep up the great work Chappers and Capt.
EDIT: The comment this was a reply to was deleted... Just as you are entitled to your opinion, everyone else is entitled to an opinion about your opinion. Also Freedom of Speech applies to the Government limiting your speech, not the consequences for your actions on a public forum.
I like to hear Chappers rip it up now and again - even if I play more like the Captain myself! Why slag anyone off for putting the practice time into building up speed and technical ability. Ohh I remember now - jealousy ;0)
No worries about the critics, Rob. All attention is good attention. Thank you both (and the team bts) for your time and the insight into your minds through your jams :D Looking forward to a lovely 2019 full of Andertons in my sub box! edit: just realised how old this video is LMAO
I don't understand all these hate comments about Rob. Listen to a slash solo and then come back here and blame him on shredding too much. Keep up the good playing!
that run up the neck starting at about 12:22 through about 12:27 is like listening to someone scratch a chalkboard. I like pretty much everything else they play, but this run, everytime he plays it gets on my nerves.
@andertons @robchappman I admire effort that You guys are giving in those videos. I like Captains sounds more than Roberts, because those P.A.F, low output, tube screamery, little brake up tones are closer to my heart. I also like this more emotional slower style of playing. Don't get me wrong, Robert, You are killer shredder and even tho Captain is playing his routine over and over again, when He's taking that 5th gear He is so fuc*in' good. DON'T BE SHY CAPTAIN! IT'S JUST US!!! You can feel comfortable :D BTW. This first Gibbolo that Captain played IS SO KILLER SOUNDING!
Plenty late to the party here, but I enjoy the variety that everyone who demos on this channel provides. Yes, Rob typically does the high gain shreddy stuff, but if you're like me, you're curious to see how well a guitar will handle that. Don't tell me that Bea does it in a better way, since his biggest influences are entirely different to Robs. Every player on this channel has an incredible level of talent. Quit your bitching, and appreciate free content from people who aren't obliged to give you a damn thing.
After all these years people still complaining about Rob's playing. There's a 98% chance he's going to shred. Don't watch the video if you know what's coming. Rob is a shredder and always will be he's not going to switch up his style just because of a few angry people on RUclips.

We don't hate him as a person, we simply believe his playing (although very skilled) lacks soul and passion. It's like he barely enjoys playing.
WTF DO YOU MEAN. He is one of the best guitarist period
expensive gibson les pauls? oh boy never heard of that before
I like the little 'surprises' on these videos. Like when they were feeling the neck and it squeaked and when lee waves his hands about and a beach ball appears.

Yesidoplaytheguitar Yes very well said. Totally agree.
Yes I agree. Stop with the hate rob stuff. Its unfounded. However rob could use slightly less distortion when demoing sounds. However that is not a criticism of rob. He is a great player and promoter of guitar playing.
The captain has gotten so good at playing. Been watching since 2014. Great to see them grow
Those guitars would be so good for blues

Also, I think the Les Paul tones are closest to the human voice. I think that's why we love it so much.
lee turned up the heat on this one damn hes been practicing
Why do Gibsons sound good in a Marshall if Marshall didn't exist when Gibsons were around?
Because they designed the Amplifier with a Gibson plugged in, Lee :)
Love Andertons, fantastic guitar, amp & pedal info, they've really ignited my passion for taking up the guitar again! Great show lads keep up the good work.... Charlie
Can we have a Captain meets Rick Graham?
bumped
bumped x2
Bumped x3
bumped x4!
Great idea! :)
I love it when you guys manage to crack up Pete behind the cameras

Patrick Tracy well said man
Can we have Fender custom vs Gibson Custom PLEAAAAAAAASE
"The Human DNA resonates with the sound"
Hey Andertons love your shows,
I dont get all the hate at all. Everyone is different. Rob and Lee are always entertaining.
If I ever learn to play Smoke on the Water I'm definitely buying a Gibson custom shop Les Paul as a reward to myself.
Dick Baguette "This guitar with 2 humbuckers played through a high gain amp shouldn't be used for high gain shred because it's VINTAGE inspired"
Cole Gravelle Lol basically. But the style they were playing in the beginning didn't fit at all with that kind of shred.
If you want high-gain riffage, Rabea kicks Rob's arse so hard it's embarassing.
Dick baguette+ Buh Bye!
This videos always want me to pick up my guitar and play! Always!
Man I love Lee's solos
Amazing guitar playing as always.
Those were some tasty note choices Captain!
Always a treat. You're great. Thanks guys!

I miss the challenge videos a lot. They were both fun and informing!
Holy hell, people can really be judgmental assholes, especially for free content. Must be the heat. Thanks for the video guys, keep 'em coming :)
That was a tasty bend by the cap at 1:18...... damn chapppers put it down too. That was sweet intro
Not sure why all the negativity about Rob. To each their own but I personally have noticed that Robs playing during demos has changed. He has slowed down and been a bit more bluesy and I like it. That beachball was class
"Oh we're looping a nice bluesy chord progression, lemme shred all over it.."
Lees playing was on fire in this vid!
5.20 mins in.... beautifully executed there Capt. 👍🤘
That ice tea burst is a life goal ❤❤❤
I enjoyed Lee's intro bending better that Rob's fast run outro. And I really think Lee should do a blues EP with Pete, Rob,etc... Captain and Friends?
It would be good to hear these guitars in the hands of players that like to play clean, such as Pete, Mick or even Rabea. 50's Les Pauls are suppose to have very nice clean tones, almost Tele like.

They are a little different They've actually been Inspected before Escaping from the Gibson Factory unlike most Gibsons lately
I am literally drooling
I am just really enjoying the opening jam today
Expensive yes. Well worth the money, YES !!!!!! I own a 59' Historic and it is the ultimate guitar
Loved the jam!
Sweet playing on this video captain. I think the les Paul brings out the best of your playing.
Lee's comment at 7:44 is very excellent. Rob et le Capitain are fine by me.
I love the hocking when you grab the guitar neck to test the thickness, i laugh every time lol
WOW! We now know that a huge percentage of the viewers of these videos are British - build them up and knock them down!

Holy mother of pearl I want that darkburst
Such a tasty lick in the beginning \m/
10:03-10:08 such Amazing Tone from the fingers of Lee...
The Captain's tones are miles ahead of Rob's in this video. I don't know why, but the Red Dwarf always sounds sterile and lifeless in this room.
Beautiful!!!
Captain sounds great today!!
If you want some mellow tasty solos, listen to Rob's solo EP that's coming out soon. Or a bunch of great Dorje songs. Sometimes us guitarists are just in a more shreddy than bluesy mood.

Ian Pugh You Win. Perfect!
(EDIT: so perfect the other guy had to erase his comment).
I like to hear Chappers rip it up now and again - even if I play more like the Captain myself! Why slag anyone off for putting the practice time into building up speed and technical ability. Ohh I remember now - jealousy ;0)
exactly. Obviously BB King wishes he was as fast and technically able as Rob.
i've always wanted to visit andertons
I enjoy ur videos so much
Lee going off in the intro
No worries about the critics, Rob. All attention is good attention. Thank you both (and the team bts) for your time and the insight into your minds through your jams :D
Looking forward to a lovely 2019 full of Andertons in my sub box!
edit: just realised how old this video is LMAO
That amp is around 1800 bucks in the US. I can buy one from Andertons and have is shipped here for just over 1000. So tempting.....
0:51 look for Lee's magic colour changing guitar.
Beautiful guitars. Thank you for no drop tuning on this vid.
Last time i was this early Chappers still had dreads.
Last time I was this early, you were still alive
Confirmed: The Illuminati killed Kurt Cobain.
Kurt Cobain you basically handed it to him ,ppfft
I like chappers a lot don't leave the show
The Captain was sounding really good in the beginning. I'm guessing he's practicing a bit.
Lee is getting real snakey with his licks. I like it!
What’s with all the negative comments.. if you’ve got nothing useful to say, say nothing.. These videos are useful, informative and FREE....
Without being rude like everyone else. There is too much shredding and too much gain to hear the guitars properly. I am sure they are amazing though 👍
Lufie Alice i
um.... no.
The Captain meets Mike Rutherford! It would be amazing!
I want that Gold Top. I want it so bad. Can you lend it to me forever please?
Pete's frickin' Scooby-Doo laugh in the background... XD
what ever people comment rob is damn good guitar player.
I don't understand all these hate comments about Rob. Listen to a slash solo and then come back here and blame him on shredding too much. Keep up the good playing!
Rob Chapman is turning into Jim Royle!
Im sorry, but the fact is Pete and Mick woulda smashed this one out of the park.
that run up the neck starting at about 12:22 through about 12:27 is like listening to someone scratch a chalkboard. I like pretty much everything else they play, but this run, everytime he plays it gets on my nerves.
Brolivia Wilde lmao thought you were joking before I relistened to it.

The Gold Top is surely Rob's new guitar
Plenty late to the party here, but I enjoy the variety that everyone who demos on this channel provides.

11:12-12:56 a Very Nice Musical Interlude--including a rather nice solo from Rob, for once :)
That Iced Tea one looks the business 👍
After all these years people still complaining about Rob's playing. There's a 98% chance he's going to shred. Don't watch the video if you know what's coming. Rob is a shredder and always will be he's not going to switch up his style just because of a few angry people on RUclips.
Perfect just made beans on toast and big mug of tea .... hum spray guard on the monitor too I think ;)
Captain at 1:15 baby, take it downtown.
How bout a "Most expensive green beans v cheapest baked beans" video ?
Captain lick master. Finger banging some tasty Lick's
I just picked up the 60's True historic it's a phenomenal guitar !
Jesus crazy shreddinh from Captain at the beginning
I THINK THE GIBSON LES PAUL WILL BE PRETTY POPULAR!
you are both awesome guys ! Like your work :)
Bring back your Marshall JTM1, with cabinet and speakers.
The hierarchy of guitar players at Andertons....
1. Pete
2. Rabea
3. Lee
4.Chapman
I understand that Chapman is technically good but Every demo he does sounds the same. A blizzard of high gain notes. Slow down and let me appreciate the tone of the instrument.
Mick should slide into your list at No 2
I'd say #3 I think, but thank you! i forgot about Mick. I always associate him with That Pedal Show.
MEDium Studios The new GAK guy is pretty good too.
What if he played random junk every time he compared guitars? It wouldn't be a good comparison at all.
What if who played random junk? Chapman? Thats what he does, random junk lol.
