Seen a couple of people go with the Shockworks coilovers on their GR Yaris' now and with all the good reports I'm seriously considering getting them for mine.
Love the choice in wheels a classic performance wheel that still looks great on just about anything you put it on.
Your comments at the end about the car are spot on. I've had turbo and supercharged 4 cylinder cars and this thing in stock form is better than most. Of course some of the 2 liter 4 cylinders will have a higher ceiling in what you can get out of them compared to the Yaris but in this platform with its driveline and weight it won't be hard to match heavier competitors.

OMG no caps for the rims buddy? should go to the wheel place ask them to make a set from aluminum, looks like they just require a threaded cap set up ,so get a engineering place to make a set which are like the rolls Royce they stay in the centre while your driving no matter how fast your going, which i had that idea back in the late 1970's, cheers :) its not that hard really its all about the engineering so bearings which are pressed on the inside of the wheel caps, but set so its off set to the weight of the caps and bearings as well, so the wheels are spinning but the cap is also spinning but only in the center of the cap, which will say fullboost?

Mate, great video. My question is seems the factory wheels studs is very short. I tried a set Te37SL 18x10+40 265 tyres. It didn't work cos the studs is too short, there is not enough threads to secure tighten the wheels? How do you get away from it? Do you have a set of special lug nuts? Thanks in advance.

    • @fullboost
      @fullboost  Год назад +1

No, standard studs, there seems to be plenty for them to screw on, are you using tapered nuts? Most Yaris have aftermarket wheels now and not many have changed studs. Also, 10 inch wheels, 265s, you may get scrubbing and will probably need more camber on the rear.

On the road only and keeping esc ON, this standard car set up, once binning the average dunlops to f1 asymmetric 5's, in my case, is absolutely brilliant!! I own a uk convenience pack.
It grips incredibly well, dry, wet, Sleat, 30c to 1c to date.
Yes, electronics are working beneath you and the variable torque moving around.
I drive mine 95% of the time in track mode, 5% sport.
Driven the uk Circuit pack/Oz rallye to you 5 times now and genuinely prefer the standard set up. Suspension is so much more relaxing but still sufficiently firm for sports driving. Yes, about 20-30% softer and more lean.
But that's obviously subjective and in my circumstances, only for road use, keeping esc on and wanting a car with totally planted awd grip, plus a manual and significantly less weight to any new competition.
Circuit/rallye is definitely the choice, from factory, unless getting your early 40K give away examples, if tracking and into added mods. The 40K standard version allows plenty of spare cash to modify, and according to owner preferences! Personally believe both specs need, especially Standard, significant mods to really make them track oriented, and don't think either is truly designed for that. Plenty of brilliant rwd and fwd cars that are arguably better.
It's a B road blast for virtually all weather/road conditions, within reason, and if it becomes too winter extreme, a tyre change is all that's needed.
But as a road car, especially as a daily, the standard set up is far more comfortable, especially noticeable in longer drives, e.g 4-5 hours.
Steering a little lighter and so much better on longer drives.
Drove a circuit pack a couple of days ago whilst mine was in for 1st service, 5th circuit pack drive, and after 4-5 hours I was getting tired.
Can drive mine the same time and definitely feel far more relaxed.
The standard set up, once putting better rubber on, is brilliant for grip. No understeer, wheelspin, bunny hopping, torque steer or oversteer. Just grip, grip, grip...
That's on the road of course!!
Only in my last circuit pack drive could I feel the torsen activate on the road, and that was due to me exaggerating my turning on a sharp left.
5 drives of same sharp bend, esc on, increasing my Steering angle and I felt the torsen kick in 3 times.
I was actually very surprised the 1st occasion, due to never feeling them activate in the previous 4 circuit pack drives and also seeing reviewers stating that the torsens are only really relevant when disabling esc.
I guess "really" was the poinient word, lol..
I'm sure on a track and particularly once esc is disabled, plus with intentions to slide the car, the torsens are brilliant.
But on the road I actually found the aggressive turn to the left on those few exaggerated sharp turns a little disconcerting.
Slightly artificial, too aggressive, more so on the steering wheel than the actual wheels, but it needed correction to pull it back in line.
Perhaps similar to a mazda 3 mps and focus rs mk2 I test drove many years ago?
My previous fwd i30N performance pack's e-diff was, imo, far less theatrical, simply did the joyful slingshot turn sensation but without the aggressive steering wheel sensation. That was however totally useless unless dry lol...
My convenience pack's open diff's set up feels far more natural and still grips unbelievably well.
Likely the same as the circuit/rallye, on the road and keeping esc on, up to around 8 tenths. Maybe it's due to knowing her very well now, but I definitely prefer it.
I also personally love the standard wheels and grey callipers.
The minimal 13kg weight saving from the circuit's forged bbs is a fraction of the extra weight from the circuit's 2 lsd's.
And heaven forbid one needs to replace one of those wheels, or more, through a buckle 😕☹😪😉lol. That's £1600 per wheel b4 tyres vs £460 for the standard wheels 👍

So its about saving money Toyota ( all Car Manufactures) make a rally spec car so to speak ,so they have a platform to work with and then make a every day version for those people who want to buy one and then have to spend even more money because just the basic suspension from factory is crap for Australian roads they make the suspension to pass the requirements of each country's laws that's it nothing is made to hi end specs or materials because if they did the cars would cost over 1 million dollars each?

Toyota Australia sell two versions, the base pack (UK convenience pack) or a Rallye (same as Base PLUS track pack). Our base pack was out for many many months before the Rallye went on sale and the Rallye was in very limited numbers.
