Beautiful area, I need to get back out in the woods myself. I have been doing more cycling over the last few years, road and mainly mtn.
I highly recommend a pack that allows for a hydration bladder. Both, my day pack and backpack, have a pocket built in for one. I carry a 3 liter hydration bladder and a 2 liter packable "bottle" that I will fill when I get to my campsite.

Thanks John. I’ve kinda been opposite doing more hiking than cycling. I had plenty of water reservoirs but my inexperience played in on my lack of water. I hear ya on the bladder. My pack supports a bladder but I rather it have its own pouch on the outside than inside like this REI.

And so here’s where a person needs to find out what Is right for them. I would NOT recommend a hydration bladder in a backpack. You don’t know that they have a leak until it’s too late and all your stuff is wet. Also ... you can’t easily tell how much water you have left. Youll try to get a drink and realize there is none there. But, whatever works for you and keeps you going out there. Keep it up 👍 good job 👍

Enjoyed the video and thanks for sharing. In my sixties now and have always loved the two lakes area. Good job on getting out and expanding your horizon and skill set. Just to make a recommendation or two, backpacking enjoyment goes up as your pack weight goes down. Also I would highly recommend trekking poles. Great for stability at creek crossing and invaluable on downhills. Wish you the best on all of your adventures!

Thanks! Yes trekking poles are on this year’s gear list. Any recommendations?

I love it. I am an experienced hiker but never backpacked overnight. I have plans to do so this summer! I am encouraged to see you are still smiling lol. Great video, I just found your channel on another hiking channel and look forward to following your adventures. Your campsite was perfect

Whitewater is a nice park. Love that little lake there. Is that odd Wally World water park still around the corner?

I used to use em all the time too... found that they were very handy to use when and actually easier to stay hydrated when they worked properly. But one leaked out on my sleeping bag, another time the bite valve was squeezed while traveling ( and emptied the bladder) to the trail and by the time I realized it was empty I was pretty far from a water source. Just too many probs for me.
