Taking Basque Iberia With the Newest Religion in CK3

- In this CK3 challenge video we are going basque to the basics and reviving Era Zaharra as Navarra in the new Fate of Iberia DLC / update. Era Zaharra is the newest and rarest religion in CK3 and as a basque one province count we will attempt to revive Euskal Herriak and inflict pain upon Spain.

16:44 as a basque person, i love when a foreign person tries to say H in euskera ( i am not insulting you, i love your chanell!) but it is pretty funny. Also very good video because navarra is a tough nation to play!

How do you say it?
For example Zaharra Za is normal but the h you do not say it, you entone the a saying ZaArra, in this case for example (idk if i had describe it good, im bad at english sorry) if you didnt understand tell me, another easy example, hau or this in english, you dont say the H, you entone again the A saying Au and dismiss the H. Euskera is the hardest idiom in the world if you didnt know.

I also nearly lost my mind when I realized conquering the whole of Iberia did not actually let me end the struggle
I united the thrones on my first playthrough, so got locked out of several achievements for that
Conquest is not the goal. It's establishing religious, and cultural dominance. It is a bit frustrating when you get locked in the wrong phase though.
@@derekskelton4187 how can you justify this dumb mechanic? In my game i have a fully catholic hispania. But i cant end the struggle because uhh muh culture. Is that not something that would warrant the title of "Conquistador"?
@@notyourbusiness8475 Change primary culture to Navara and culture change it, it's relatively small so it wouldn't take as long as to for example giant aragon
@@afrovarangian I know the requirements, but its stupid either way. Like think about it, you conquer and convert all of iberia.. but there's still a struggle? With who exactly? This is an rhetorical question becuase I know who: the 6 or so unlanded mercenery company leaders that are still ash'ari or muwalladi.
Starting as a king isn't my thing either.
I often forget it's even an option, strangely enough. I just don't feel comfortable unless I've personally crafted the entire kingdom and seen it's entire history start to finish.
I don't really know how this game works but there's a theory the Basque have been whaling off the coast of Canada since possibly as far back as the 12th century so I'm wondering if any of that is mentioned. I wrote a paper on Basque-Algonquian pidgins and its fascinating.

Alzabo just wanna let you know your my favorite content creator for paradox games and your videos make me want to try out CK3 so last week i tried my first run and im not gonna lie it was pretty hectic and not that fun tbh, im more use to the way of EU4 where i have pretty much absolute control about everything but then i tried something else instead of beign the monarch i decided to start as a count and worth my way up to a duchy from there i carried my monarch stupid ass to victory playing hyper tall with a single duchy and joining all the wars of my monarch NOW that was actually a lot more of fun then managing a big ass realm and now is my default way of playing when i open the game i just ask myself "So who are we gonna carry today?"

You should do a Manichaean religion playthrough one day. It’s one of the only religions considered a “world religion” to die off completely. I think only one province starts with the religion in Siberia at the very beginning of the game. Would be super cool to see someone reform the religion in a short term video.

I wish a wee bit that you went a bit into what Era Zaharra actually was, I kinda wanna know more about it.
Apparently, not much is actually known about it.
I try to explain in my awful english. Basque culture was pretty much matriarcal were the principal godess was Mari-Ama Lurra or Mother Earth, Mari is said had a fire like appearance and blonde hair that she combs with her gold brush. She is the godess of fertility and controls weather and the earth. Her husband is Sugaar a man without legs only a snake tail or dragonlike figure. They have eachother several homes that are the principal mounts of Euskal Herria, the most famous is the Anboto where you can enter in the Cave of Mari. It's said that if you encounter Mari you must speak to her informally (in hika) and never lie to her if she ask if you have any possesions cause she will take them if you do so. Also you should never sit while you are talking to her. Her assistans where the sorginak that you can identify as witches but in reality are more like old wise woman that acted as religious leaders of the old basque tribes
They have two sons Mikelatz and Atarrabi eachother representing good and evil.
When the Christian church arrived they demonized Mari and the other gods of basque culture like Akerbeltz who was represented as a black male goat also a god of fertility but of the livestock and his rituals the Akelarre or`` place of Aker´´ where people wish for better their health or get pregnant.
There are a lot of more gods and genius in the basque culture i'm sure you can find info around the internet.

Hey I like the attempt to make the editing a bit more fancy, however I do think it becomes a bit too much with all the fade and slide effects. I also think there could have been a better explanation at the start of what the goal was. Took me some minutes to realize why you were starting in France, if that makes sense.

I'm actually a huge fan of the marital ceremonies cultural bonus, as it raises the bonus of spouse skills from 50% to 75% when specialized or from 25% to 37% when generalized. These bonuses, especially if you're Prowess Focused in the military tree, can be further exploded into either 100% specific or 50% general skill. It's basically just free skill points. The downside of being unable to divorce IS very big;
But that's why you just reform to Polygamy or pick up a different religion. Har Har. Polygamous + family Business + marital Ceremonies = extremely efficient nepotistic multi-branched dynasty. I actually ended up winning the Iberian Struggle via peace by taking over the whole region, buying all the kingdom titles, granding the areas and the vassals there to each of my children, then allying them then clicking the struggle button to instantly win simply because by dynasty was huge enough for me to just move my kids around and beat the game.
