There is nothing wrong with changing or staying the same and there is also nothing wrong with growing apart. It may hurt, but it's fine.
okay but why do people act so weird when you start going by a nickname? my sister's name is penelope, but she's been going by penny all her life, so everybody calls her penny and nobody cares. i started going by the name ami this year, and everyone keeps making up stupid excuses for why they won't call me that. i don't care if "i don't look like an ami" it's what i want to be called godammit. this video reminded me of that because nelson kept calling bea bethany when she specifically said she went by bea now. same with a lot of my trans friends, this one kid at our school transitioned way back in elementary school, and everyone uses his correct name and it's not even a question, but the moment somebody who has only transitioned recently starts going by a new name, it's a whole deal. why can't we all just call people what they want to be called? it's not that difficult
So many of my friends have switched from using their first names to their middle names, and people are like "well _____ isn't your first name, so I don't have to call you it". And I'm like "well your first name isn't 'disrespectful' but I'll still call you that"
Yea the parallels to being deadnamed, especially with Dhar Mann seeming to say "this isn't her true self", makes it easy to read as "trans people aren't being their true selves", which I will give him the benefit of the doubt and assume he wasn't intending that, but wow he should've thought harder
I've also started using a nickname instead of my first name. You sound pretty young (and I mean no offense), but you stated that your sister's been going by Penny all her life. That's just how people know her. To everyone around her that's Penny, not Penelope. You simply haven't been using your nickname long enough for people to associate that with you. If your sister suddenly wanted to be known by Penelope I'm sure people would have a hard time transitioning to that as well. It's tough switching to a nickname but you need to be patient and understanding, yet firm and correct people when they call you by the wrong name. It's a different story when people openly refuse to call you by what you want to be called but generally it takes time for people to really associate your nickname with who you are. Just give it some time and be on their ass about it while also giving them a little bit of leeway if you know what I mean. Soon enough they'll call you Ami as if they've always been ❤️❤️ .
yeah no it’s wild i’ve gone by katie my whole life when it’s just a nickname for kathryn and whenever someone finds out that my legal name is kathryn they’ll make such a big deal out of it like sure it may be a bit surprising but it doesn’t change who i am 😭😭

True. When I was in high school, it was always the freshman and sophomores that bullied people. Juniors and seniors were a lot more mature and a lot nicer. And middle school was just hell.
As someone who has worn glasses their entire life starting at age 4 let me tell you, the things that make me self conscious about having glasses and being nerdy is media like this, almost never my actual experiences. I know I might be biased but I genuinely think everyone looks hotter with a good pair of glasses lol. I’ve had plenty of dates and boyfriends, so they’re not stopping people from finding me attractive. And being nerdy was a bit tougher to deal with, but not because everyone was making fun of me for it. It was just hard for people to see me outside of that box. To any kids watching: none of this stuff actually matters. If you’re a nerd, own it, and you’ll find thousands of other people who love the same stuff that you do. People will find you hot whether you wear glasses or not. If you don’t want to wear glasses, please just get contact. You need to be able to see. But yeah, it’s okay. You’ll find your people no matter what you’re like ❤
Dhar Mann high school actors are either 7 or 27 there is no in between- they try and work around the 7 year olds by making them smart enough to have skipped some years but it just makes everyone else look even older 😭
Works of fiction that portray high school as having an established and enforced social hierarchy is really bizarre to me. Maybe it's because mine was so overcrowded and underfunded, but usually people just hung out with whatever group was nearby and tolerable, and people would be targets of bullying based on someone else having a bad day and noticing they exist (and other factors like race and sexuality and such but you know). It was kind of impossible to have "popular kids" because no one was known by enough people at once to care. And kids who were assholes would be assholes to like twenty different people a day. Hell, that villain girl in the video probably would have gotten the shit bullied out of her in my school, just because she made such a scene and was being cringey, only for everyone to completely forget about it in 3 days of course.
cant believe chat, which loves to call everything a continuity error, missed the HUGE CONTINUITY ERROR of nelson being announced as the first ever freshman in junior-level math while bea/thony is in the same class!!!
The reason why we haven't been getting any bingos is probably because Dhar Mann watches Jarvis and is catching on to the game. He is changing his ways so that Jarvis gets thrown off. Dhar Mann hopes that one day he'll end all bingo games 👀
The most surprising thing (to me) is this guy is the first freshman in a junior level course cause I'm taking junior level math even though I'm a freshman, but there's also like 50 other kids. What would be more impressive if the kid was like my friend (who's also a freshman) and taking AP calculus
Great news! I got hired to be in a new Dhar Mann sketch as a high school freshman! It's such great news, I can barely believe it! And on my 40th birthday! Woohoo!
The silliest part of this is that academic excellence is treated as uncool? At least when I was in high school, the "popular" kids kind of had the trifecta going for them? They were good-looking, sporty, and in advanced classes with lofty university goals? Like yeah, the other "popular kids" stereotypes were in play (in some people more than others, obviously even "cool kids" are three-dimensional people) but like... ain't nobody making fun of anyone for being smart.
Mine too (that was like ten years ago, admittedly.) I was in classes with a lot of them, especially after I combined my junior/senior year, because they took AP courses fairly often. They weren't necessarily from the valedictorian group, but those kids weren't particularly disliked either. It is possible there was bullying I didn't see because it wasn’t the kind that gets broadcasted. I think people probably bullied the pregnant girl in my year, but it didn't look like Dhar Mann's version if they did. I mostly got harassed by a guy I had PE with every year while my teacher watched and did pretty much nothing, and there was a weird thing where some popular girls I'd never spoken to came up to me, asked if I was indeed dating this one autistic kid in their year, and said it was "cute" when I affirmed their belief, which made me profoundly uncomfortable in a way I didn't entirely understand at the time (I wasn't diagnosed with autism at the time myself, but it was still weird.) I think I missed most of the "mean girl" stuff by not going to most of middle school, though inside sources later revealed that there were rumors at the time, which he felt uncomfortable repeating. And there were the guys who all were camo and were really into hunting and extremely homophobic who I guess decided to bully one of the most popular seniors because he was a theater kid and appeared to have no insecurities about physical contact with his guy friends. I know there was a less popular theater kid who had some kind of issue with homophobia, but I don’t know what happened there. Also he was a guy probably being bullied by other guys, which can be a whole different thing, I think.
Maybe it's just me as a trans person projecting on to this, but everyone disrespecting how Bea wanted to be referred to, treating changing her appearance/identity as "lying", and exposing it in front of people? The whole video doesn't really map onto this reading, but those parts... kinda mirror a trans experience with transphobia.
I want to see the sequel when Nelson becomes a billionaire tech mogul and the mean girls apply for jobs at his company or something. The interview process includes a chess problem.
I feel like if she is more interested in dressing or acting in a certain way, I think she should. It's ok to change throughout school, the problem comes if you are putting yourself or others down to be "cool" or whatever. I hope you guys get what I'm trying to say 💀
One of the bingo squares should be something along the lines of "the only adult in the scene let's children bully each other" or something. I noticed it too at the end of the "Kid Uses Cheats To Get A Girlfriend" video. The only adult at the tournament didn't stop the bully who got his shoes stolen by the hacker kid from threatening to kill the hacker kid and chasing after him at the end (keep in mind both kids seem to run right behind the adult to get backstage). I know sometime the adult will just be like "stop that" when kids start bullying, but it rarely goes farther than that; as if teachers and adults in the Dhar Cinematic Universe don't have the authority to break up bullying attempts in any meaningful way.
I fucking love how thorough Jarvis is. This is literally so fucking cool that he made this bingo game, like when I found this a few days ago I was so happy. I have been binging since.
i’m a junior and at my school the math class options we can take are pre calc or functions. We use common core but for functions i currently don’t have a curriculum- our new math teacher quit on the second week of school and we have yet to find another one after like 2 months...
@@COSun25 it's extremely rough for teachers right now, the pay is still awful and they keep getting sick and bringing it home to their family or roommates. seeing students get sick and lose family members really gets to them. the only reason my friends are still teaching is cos they love their students too much to abandon them. good luck with school, abbey! i hope you get a permanent teacher soon. the teachers that are still there really care about y'all :)

I get the point of the story and how Bethany/Bea shouldn't pretend to be something she's not and to be embarassed of herself and friends no less, but her two friends trying to actively tell her to go back to her old ways was kind of aggravating to me. There's nothing wrong about changing your appearance or moving on from hobbies and passions you once had. You can still be true to yourself even if you don't look or act a certain way you did a couple of months ago. Of course you shouldn't abandon your friends over something as trivial as trying to be the popular type but since it's a Dhar Mann video it lacks all of those nuances that come with growing up.
Also, the combo of changing her prefered name and appearance kind of gave me a bit of trans vibes. Plus the way her old friends were disrespecting her changes felt a bit gross
@@JinStreams I think that's going a bit too far and seeing things that aren't there but I think trying to force someone to act a way that you find preferable because you can't appreciate their own growth is the real issue with her friends. It's like they can almost immediately tell that Bea/Bethany didn't like her old look and wanted to become someone she's not just based on her new appearance rather than seeing it as a "glow-up" or just a simple change in style.
This is literally Mean Girls but dumbed down to be easy for kids. And they took out the part about trying to take down Regina, but kept a lot of the same points. MC meets love interest (I choose to use math here) There’s tutoring in regards to math The mall stuff There’s a party where the MC goes in bad makeup where the antagonists try to make her look bad This is just a bad version of the movie Mean Girls
I just finished binge-watching the rest of the Dhar Mann Bingo series (playing them in the background while I work) so I was really happy to see there's a new episode. This series is so funny.
Nobody would judge you for how you looked in the past. Like imagine two adults going out, but then the guy finds out that the girl wore braces in middle school and immediately breaks up with her.
Yes and no- I was bullied for being weird, part of that was being nerdy and loving learning (I would get super excited about learning and still do). But ti wasn’t that I was smart. A lot of it was like super subtle mean girls style like asking questions knowing you are oblivious then laughing with their friends- but I literally was oblivious 99% of the time. But mainly it was because I was a weird kid because of undiagnosed neurodivergence. This is secondary school in the Uk so like it was 11-15 and most people grew out of that by like 13/14- but it defiantly still went on to the end of year 11- but it was nothing like the video lol
The one point t his DM video DID make, is that the rudest popular kids are self loathing. Usually the worst offenders arent this cartoonish, but they are simultaneously self loathing and self important. Rich, only care about themselves, and over obsessed with appearances and drama.
Maybe I just go to a weird high school, but where I go, at least for the girls, higher level classes are where the "popular" girls try to be. Some of the class clown douches were proud to fail classes, but most of the well known and well liked athletes and cheer folk were in finite math and pre calc with me. (It sounds stereotypical to mention athletes, but my small school focus a ton of money on sports to bring in money. We've had a golf team for a while, but we only got watercolor paper for art this year)

As a european who is Also confused as to how this works: Yeah
I think both Bea and her friends had some good points. If Bea wants to stop looking nerdy and actually have fashion she can do that. If her friends want to stay like they are and play chess they can.
@@blueismylove3128 this is true! irl i go by sie (since high school) and that's pretty much how people call me now. online tho i go by ryn since i do like that name more
of everything dhar mann's written, "i miss middle school" is the MOST unrealistic sentence
That was the worst times of our adolescence omg the hormones!!!! N identity crises every other month ugh.
Not for me I moss middle it was honestly the best
I love how being smart is seen as a nerd thing that every popular kid tries to avoid when the popular girls in my middle school were either A: really smart, or B: couldn’t GAF about their grades let alone anyone elses
idk why media like dhar mann think that the cool/popular/pretty girls are different from the smart ones. all those girls in my hs were geniuses lol all aps honors etc
Yep. All the popular girls were extremely smart at my HS. 😅
“haha smart people are so dumb” is for some reason not a common sentiment
yeah, it’s really people doing “badly” that struggle socially, usually. Or they have nothing to do w each other
100% !!!! Literally most of the national honor Society at my school was the popular kids that were mean and that cheated a lot. I was so excited to be accepted into NHS until inauguration, and I realize that there is really nothing honorable about this group. It was more just to be able to put something “prestigious” on your college application.
Lol I haven't been in high school in a long time but a good number of the "cool kids" were in AP classes with me. And I was in high school math as a 7th grader. When the older kids found out they were just impressed for a day and then moved on. I was worried for nothing
Right? At my high school the smart kids were the more popular ones. It was a small school, though
humble brag okayy
lol kidding, that is seriously impressive!
@@sourgreendolly7685 I burned out in college tho. Never graduated and now I'm stuck figuring out what to do
Yeah the cool jocks loved math nerds, because they could copy off of them. Lol I "helped" the class president get through Algebra III and he always remembered me fondly for it 😆😆
@@msjkramey go back to a different school/degree if you're interested! I finally went back to get my bachelor's through a local college, mostly online (at age 33 oof). Lots of hard work but very worth it
I start laughing really hard every time kyle appears out of nowhere 🤣
I love how being smart is treated as a flaw
As someone named Bethany, I cannot explain the psychic damage I took from this video
"sorry I didn't see you there🥺" yeah because you stopped wearing your glasses 😭💀
Dhar Mann's depiction of high school is grossly inaccurate. Like wow. It's actually awful.
Especially the part where anybody considered a nerd would 'miss middle school'
@@stickitydoodah seriously, middle school was TRASH.
Middle school was depression central
True. When I was in high school, it was always the freshman and sophomores that bullied people. Juniors and seniors were a lot more mature and a lot nicer.
And middle school was just hell.
Middle school is more like this. _Thats_ when kids are *vicious*
Jamie: "I guess you like to get good grades and pass tests or something, huh Bea?" 😒😂

You should just be yourself… BEA yourself. [The credits roll. There is a standing ovation.]
"Sorry. The old Bethany can't come to the phone right now. Why? Because she's telling stories and changing lives😈💅🏻"
I find it weird that Jamie claimed to have known Kyle since they were kids and seemed to have no idea that he played chess
True 😭💀
I think she just said that so Bea would believe her.
why is kyle, who’s a senior/junior, interested in a freshman 💀 it’s giving predatory behavior
I'm a junior rn and the freshmen come off as CHILDREN even though they're only 2y younger like 😭
If Kyle was someone at my high school, he definitely would’ve been made fun of for going after freshman lol
If Kyle was someone at my high school, he definitely would’ve been made fun of for going after freshman lol
If Kyle was someone at my high school, he definitely would’ve been made fun of for going after freshman lol
It’s a small age gap man, the actors are probably the same age too
Works of fiction that portray high school as having an established and enforced social hierarchy is really bizarre to me.
I didn't even realize wth 😭
Doesn’t the teacher say “oh this is Bethany so we have two freshman in this class”
The reason why we haven't been getting any bingos is probably because Dhar Mann watches Jarvis and is catching on to the game. He is changing his ways so that Jarvis gets thrown off. Dhar Mann hopes that one day he'll end all bingo games 👀
fan behavior from dhar mann
The most surprising thing (to me) is this guy is the first freshman in a junior level course cause I'm taking junior level math even though I'm a freshman, but there's also like 50 other kids. What would be more impressive if the kid was like my friend (who's also a freshman) and taking AP calculus
I died at the part when Kyle said "Is anyone in high school?".
"should we see if its actually checkmate" this is why i stay subscribed.
That one girl's denim jacket said Trans Rights
I can't see pink, blue, and white together without thinking the same thing :p
Great news! I got hired to be in a new Dhar Mann sketch as a high school freshman!
It's such great news, I can barely believe it! And on my 40th birthday! Woohoo!
Dhar Mann is trash
Its like you KNEW how sad I felt!! Thanks Jarvis!!! XO
I felt the same, haha

The whole video doesn't really map onto this reading, but those parts... kinda mirror a trans experience with transphobia.
omg i noticed that too! it may be us projecting a bit (im trans as well) but it was definitely something i noticed
My thoughts exactly my fellow transes
omg i wasnt even really paying attention but this is tru e
literally the same thought lol

She tried so many things to try to get with him except asking him herself. 😭
As someone who does go to high school, it's weird to sit and watch this and be like "wait these characters are supposed to be _younger_ than me?"
The cool kids in my high school were too busy getting high and drinking to care about someone being a nerd in middle school.
currently binge watching these and laughed so suddenly i got acid reflux when the screen showed “BING”
The funniest part of this video is how menacingly Kyle stood up at 35:07
he was ready to beat that girl up
Thought we were gonna get a real violent “what happens next will shock you”
I want to see the sequel when Nelson becomes a billionaire tech mogul and the mean girls apply for jobs at his company or something. The interview process includes a chess problem.
The comment that said "Just for the record, I actually like Stanley Ritter, the previous owner, a little better than Bea" fuckin' got me man
THAT WAS SO FUNNY im so disappoiinted that jarvis didnt see it
It's quite impressive that the teacher is actually more or less the youngest looking person in that classroom.
We're at 90210 levels of oldteens
These teenagers are so old they understand this reference.
how about instead of "what happens in the dark allways comes to light" you make it "a random moral phrase gets mentioned again at the end"
I feel like if she is more interested in dressing or acting in a certain way, I think she should. It's ok to change throughout school, the problem comes if you are putting yourself or others down to be "cool" or whatever. I hope you guys get what I'm trying to say 💀
Yeah, don’t avoid doing anything just because you don’t want to be seen as fake or trying too hard. But don’t do something just to fit in.
The way Jarvis got 50x more attractive when he wanted to check if it's a real checkmate!
Why is Bea's mother picking her up from school to take her to the school's chess club? Lol
they reset the chess board with no pawns and then sat like npcs until bea was done talking to the cool kid
i’m a junior and at my school the math class options we can take are pre calc or functions. We use common core but for functions i currently don’t have a curriculum- our new math teacher quit on the second week of school and we have yet to find another one after like 2 months...
That teacher sounds terrible.
@@COSun25 it's extremely rough for teachers right now, the pay is still awful and they keep getting sick and bringing it home to their family or roommates. seeing students get sick and lose family members really gets to them. the only reason my friends are still teaching is cos they love their students too much to abandon them.
good luck with school, abbey! i hope you get a permanent teacher soon. the teachers that are still there really care about y'all :)
functions? what type of math course is that? typically junior year would be alg ii
@@ardeiwann we took algebra 2 in sophomore year i believe. Also the class is called functions/math modeling and i am in the same boat as you because i literally have absolutely no idea what the course is supposed to be since i don’t have a teacher lol. i just knew i needed to pick a required math class and that seemed easier than pre calc. my school uses a weird curriculum 🤷♀️
@@COSun25 pretty judgmental considering you know nothing else other than the fact that they quit eh? People are so quick to hate on service workers.
I'm glad these are coming back! These videos are perfect to have on in the background while doing other things and I ran out of videos to catch up on!
At this point they’re just getting their GEDs
Imagine thinking chess is lame... I find these bullies in Dhar Mann video so funny, they are so unrealistic and cartoon-like.
in the hoco scene in a real highschool everyone woulda yelled at her to stfu and that no one gaf and to get off the stage
Omg I love that one of the popular “perfect” girls has her belly out n it’s not like super toned. That is so refreshing.
@janner2006 I am definitely projecting but the underlying attitude of denying someone's ability to change themself is definitely there
Twitch chat sees one parking lot and thinks it’s a confrontation
This is literally Mean Girls but dumbed down to be easy for kids. And they took out the part about trying to take down Regina, but kept a lot of the same points.
MC meets love interest (I choose to use math here)
There’s tutoring in regards to math
The mall stuff
There’s a party where the MC goes in bad makeup where the antagonists try to make her look bad
This is just a bad version of the movie Mean Girls

I’m rewatching this, so I didn’t remember everything.
They referenced Mean Girls, and I had just forgotten
Here’s a reminder that when he said “I actually like Bethany better then bea” that the Bethany he’s referring to is a middle schooler

BRUH ITS SO CREEPY THIS UPPERCLASSMAN WAS DOWN BAD FOR A FRESHMAN CJSNSJSNS

Thanks for making Dhar Mann videos bearable Jarvis. You always crack me up!
the immediate sultry tone the actress playing bethany took on when flirting with kyle made me so uncomfortable???

Why are these junior mean girls so proud of being bad at math? 😂
Do bullies like that still exist? Like bullying people for being “nerds”?
@@mrspreminger eh that’s better ig
I suppose if your antisocial and spend all your time studying, other than that no
Yes and no- I was bullied for being weird, part of that was being nerdy and loving learning (I would get super excited about learning and still do).
Bro imagine thinking that someone taking OFF their glasses makes them cuter
“i actually like bethany a little better than bea” is the new “stanley ritter the previous owner”
Jarvis's laugh at 33:18 breathed so much life into me.
Why is it that in every dhar man high school video “Jarvis” is the hot football player that everyone likes.
"Production quality FaceTime" definitely needs to be on a card
Um... Being two grades ahead in math was super common in my VERY average school. I don't believe he's the first freshman to be in junior level.
We've had a golf team for a while, but we only got watercolor paper for art this year)
Damn I have the exact same outfit note for note at 12:17, like I knew I was a nerd but still hurts to get called out so brutally
some of the popular girls at my school had the exact same outfit it's whatever 😭
freshman taking junior level math is super normal bc that’s the only way to get through calc bc in high school
4:28 Hot Jarvis is my favorite Dhar Mann character
