I mean, sure, but this is a Dhar Mann video and he was clearly gonna give her detention anyway-so it was pretty unnecessary to make her do the paper thing _and_ give her detention. I don’t think Jarvis was advocating detention as a solution and accidentally supporting the school to prison pipeline.
I dunno man, either you never get help for bullying and can be suspended for self defense or you and your ex have a tiny petty game, someone rats one of you out, and then the principal can legitimately recommend a court case for domestic abuse. Personally, as an adult, I sleep with a nightlight so I don't trip over my cats (or whatever shit I left on the floor lol) when I get up to go pee in the middle of the night
I like having lamps on, because yeah being surrounded by total darkness freaks me out lol. Especially since it straight up renders me blind, unsure how people who aren't legally blind witness the dark but it's just kinda weird for me.
Ok, so because Jarvis didn’t call this out & my friend missed this too I want to point out that what the “new girl”’s father is accused of doing is exactly what Dhar Mann did but slightly more dramatic, taking from a starving children’s fund instead of public works. As if this is just a baseless rumor and not a matter of public record.
I thought about applying for a laugh because I definitely wouldn’t have gotten accepted, but it’s a high application fee!! Never got my Harvard rejection letter. Still pretty upset about it.
I got rejected from Tufts and i was so heartbroken over it, esp cause that day a lot of other folks got acceptances to other schools. But I ended up feeling like where I went was a much better fit. You'll grow well where you're planted etc.
I went to a very small academically rigorous and competitive international school. We had a lot of bad school politics but there were definitely kids who only applied to like, Ox-Bridge or Harvard or Cornell thinking they would get it. Meanwhile I got into a school lots of other kids got rejected from despite being average amongst the cohort and was hated for it 😎
as a current tufts student, youve absolutely been blessed w your rejection. this place sucks HAHA. glad the school you went to ended up being so much better for you :)

Lmao Dhar Mann literally ripped this whole cloth from a common Jewish fable. Except in the fable it’s not paper, it’s a feather pillow. A man gets in trouble for spreading gossip, goes to his rabbi, and the rabbi says to empty a feather pillow from on top of his roof, and when he returns, the rabbi tells him to collect all the feathers and then all his gossip will be forgiven. When he says he can’t the rabbi tells him gossip is the same way.
holy cow, this video made me feel uncomfortable - Bria was geniunely malicious, and although most dhar man villians are cruel, they're also kinda cartoonish, like caricatures of people. Bria, on the other hand, was just cruel.
it reminds of people i knew as a kid, who would act very kind to the neurodivergent kid in the class, and then mock them behind their back. i remember being taken to the guidance counsellor, crying, because i happened to overhear one of the worst offendors gossiping in the changing room, and the counsellor telling me 'you're already 12, far too old to be crying about someone not wanting to be your friend', and then forcing me to 'take a photo and make up', which they then posted on the wall of 'solved cases'. for everyone to just immediately forgive Bria isn't just unrealistic, it's also not a message that should be sent out to his impressionable audience - you shouldn't feel obligated to forgive someone just because, a breach of trust is a breach of trust regardless of whether or whether not the other person has similar experiences. if i were to slap John, and later John saw me getting slapped by someone else, that doesn't mean that John has to forgive me for slapping him.
not to add to the tired private uni discourse, but also it could be that their high school is ranked worse than other Harvard applicants, making it impossible for anyone in that school to go no matter how good they do, and thusly perpetuating unequal opportunities in higher education 🙃
Anne of Green Gables: The Animated Series already did the "tear up paper, toss it in the wind, now try to get the pieces back" analogy to teach why rumors are bad like 10 years ago.
Jarvis saying he got rejected from Carnegie Mellon really hits cause I was just rejected from CMU this year but also there’s so many different options for peoples future kinda lame that such a big deal is placed on going to college when your in High School the pressure can be a lot
rt, I really wanted to go there but it wasn't even an option for me cuz they have no financial aid for international students :((( I love my current school though I'm sure you'll have a great experience elsewhere too
19:07 me & my older brother slept in the same room for a few years just because we lived in a small apartment with only 2 bedrooms. they literally could have just had her sleep in the same room without throwing in a dead dad lmao
Or her brother coming in sometimes, also without a dead dad. My father is very much alive, but my young brother still came to my room or my sister’s room (she had a much bigger bed) some times, it was actually something that needed to be worked on before he could get a bunk bed.
So Bria apologizes to the Harvard girl about telling everyone she didn't get in, but doesn't apologize for lying straight to her face when she called her out on it?!
I weirdly do relate to the Harvard thing 😅. I was really shooting for Stanford as my dream school, and I have a fantastic resume because I worked my butt into depression during school (I promise I love it though lol. I wanted to get in for myself, not cause of anyone else) but was rejected from all of the Ivy leagues I applied to. It was a bit crushing and left me wondering what the point of all the overworking I did was if it still wasn't enough, but it's definitely not something that I would have kept a secret. It was a bit embarrassing to have to tell all my family members though, cause they'd been telling me for months they thought I'd get in 😭 that's just how it goes i suppose lol
That detention slip was a really good prop. I was expecting the use of a sample from the web that still had the watermark on it. I think Dhar Mann did a good job with this episode.
"Hello Bria, I want to play a game. You have used your silver tongue to deceive others into believing in your false sincerity, only to flock to your herd of sheep, and like a shepherd, guide them into believing the lies you twist from what you learn. These people put their faith and trust in you, and you threw it away. What was it all for Bria? Validation? A desire to feel a sense of control over other's beliefs? Well, either way you will need to now prove your sincerity. Before you is a list of all of the lies you have told. You must tear this list to shreds, scatter the pieces in the wind, and then reassemble all of these pieces correctly in order to survive. You cannot take your words back, but maybe you can take these back. Good luck Bria." The principal is like Jigsaw with his convoluted punishments.

I know I'm late to the party but wanted to add my experience with the "hurtful things said cannot be taken back" lesson. My mom came up to my best friend and I (she lived with us at the time) and told us to spray some perfume into our hands. She then said "now put it back in the bottle". We tried but of course, you can't really get all of it back into the bottle after it's been sprayed onto something. She then said "When you say something hurtful, it can't be taken back. It can't be undone. Some of what you said will always remain in some way, either with the person you said it to or with it being passed along from person to person." Good job mom you're almost a Dhar Mann character 😂❤
Re: the bathrooms, I think the handwashing area is shared and the toilets are off to either side. That's why we can see the women's toilet sign whilst they're standing by the sinks.
Hey Jarvis, I'm only saying this because I know you care, and are a great ally to the trans community. (Disclaimer: this is just my two cents, and isn't necessarily the case for every trans person, obviously.) So the whole bathroom scene most likely shared sinks connecting the two bathrooms, like you said. It could have been a continuity error, but seeing as it's SO ingrained into our society that there are only two genders, and Darh Mann has yet to show any LGBTQ+ supportive content (as far as I am aware) it is safe to assume he did not consider any of those characters being trans or non-binary. Now what I will say is that the jokes chat was making saying that the person could have been "bb trans" and commenting to not assume genders seemed to me to be the kinds of things I often hear said by queer people, in a light-hearted way. It's not jokes meant to put down anyone - trans community or the cis person making an assumption - it's sorta used as a friendly reminder to think about other possibilities when you don't know a person's gender. Queer people are usually left out of the conversation and so this is one way we insert ourselves into the narrative. So I don't know if you saying that you "don't want to make jokes about that" was saying that the people in chat making those comments were making the types of jokes you personally would not make, or you are referring to other types of jokes. But it's okay to make lighthearted jokes to remind each other that queer people exist. Ya know? Especially in a situation like this where we know, for the most part, everyone watching with you is in agreement that trans people are valid in their gender. And especially because it makes the experience of watching something like Darh Mann - videos where they constantly ignore our existence in favor of being palatable to the general public - more enjoyable because we insert queer people as the explanation instead of making it a "continuity error" or another explanation. Tl;Dr it's okay to make jokes about trans people when used correctly and especially as a tool to add trans experiences into a narrative that otherwise would leave us out. Thanks for your videos, I always enjoy them. And I appreciate you reading this comment. 🖤🤎❤🧡💛💚💙💜
I've seen Jarvis say that a few times before when the chat is making inoffensive LGBTQ+ jokes (like in the video about the eleven-year-old kid and the football player in high school, whose essay was clearly copied and pasted and used "she/her" pronouns, so chat started headcanoning him as trans). I think he's fine with chat joking around like that, but doesn't want to participate in case he oversteps his boundaries and something comes out the wrong way. Or so someone doesn't clip him out-of-context and use it against him. It is nice to be able to joke about things like being trans in a way that isn't insulting or derogatory for a change, but I can understand some cis allies opting to play it safe and just observe.
@@Kyran1996 that makes sense. And yeah I remember thinking the same thing during that video with the essay. It does make sense why he may want to avoid those jokes, but at the same time it feels a little like trans people are just being ignored. Does that make sense? Idk. I know he means well, don't get me wrong. But it still feels a little bit bad that trans people are just left out in order for a cis person to "play it safe".
yeah i agree w a lot of this - but, i will say, i interpreted Jarvis's reflexive caution to those jokes as a result of the other jokes that used to be rampant: the "DiD yOu JuSt AsSuMe My GeNdEr?!?" jokes made in bad faith by cishet ppl. i think of these as like a tamer successor to the fkn ""attack helicopter"" jokes in the sense that, while the punchline is still essentially "isn't that a ridiculous concept for ppl to be trans lol", it had enough plausible deniability that i remember it being so ubiquitous (think circa 2015-18 ish?) and used by loads of non-transphobic ppl too (i have memories of gently pointing out that these were in poor taste to many of my peers, lots of whom seemed kinda horrified by the realization oof). so in honesty i had a similar reflex to Jarvis when the jokes started moving in that direction, even though it was (hopefully) likely fine. anyway, sorry to ramble but yeah ! also, absolutely headcanon the hell outta these vids !! fk it everyone is trans now !!! they cant stop us lmao !!! 😌🏳️⚧️💕
@@clegs8356 yeah, I definitely know what you mean, I have heard those jokes before too. I think you totally have a point! Maybe that is where Jarvis is coming from; he did acknowledge that he assumed their gender, so that was nice. I guess I wish more cis people took the time to understand the nuance in the difference between these kinds of jokes. I just feel weird about completely ignoring any trans related jokes. It's a weird vibe. Obviously I would want the cishet people to be telling jokes that don't harm trans people, so if that's the alternative than I for sure would prefer they didn't even attempt them. But then again if you can only avoid transphobic jokes by not making any jokes involving transness, that also doesn't feel right. Does that make sense? Idk. I kinda rambled there for a min.
@@Themery36 I agree, there’s definitely a lot of nuance to it. I think cis people (well-meaning and otherwise) think trans people get upset when you joke about trans stuff. When really, the problem is when the existence of trans people is the butt of the joke. There are lots of aspects of trans experiences that are funny, there are lots of aspects of the way trans people are perceived that are funny, heck, there are even some blatant attempts to be transphobic that are funny just because of how stupid they are. And with the way internet humor works, in all honesty it can be tell whether someone is actually being transphobic, or just sarcastically relaying common transphobic rhetoric to highlight how absurd it is. I can understand why Jarvis would want to shut it down, then, because you can’t tell if the person is actually being hateful or not, and it’s better to lean on the side of caution. Also, we don’t know what/how many comments he was looking at when he told chat to knock it off, so it could be that he only spotted some of the more misinterpretable comments and responded accordingly. Idk. I just feel like sarcasm and satire, especially over text, is hard as hell to catch and if you’re not in queer circles you’re even less likely to notice these kinds of patterns. I completely agree with you, I just don’t think we can blame Jarvis (not saying that you were btw) for not wanting to mess things up.

I’m a fully grown 22 year old man and not even I can feel even remotely comfortable enough in pitch blackness to sit still let alone fall asleep.
Any homies who still need some kind of light at night, I can relate man
Edit: just go to the end lol, my point still stands tho
I also have a Light on during the night, illuminating my Guinea pigs. That way, when I can’t sleep or wake up during the night, I can look over to the little guys, and feel comforted.

I love that the victim’s of her gossiping had an avengers assemble moment
Ok, so because Jarvis didn’t call this out & my friend missed this too I want to point out that what the “new girl”’s father is accused of doing is exactly what Dhar Mann did but slightly more dramatic, taking from a starving children’s fund instead of public works. I went to a very small academically rigorous and competitive international school.
*his writers; they’re definitely running out of material
dhar mann (& co) stealing from jewish folklore because they’re talentless hacks? i’m shocked.
I like the Veggie Tales about the Rumor Weed that Larry Boy had to fight. That thing scared me a little as a kid.
Right? That's what I was thinking
Yeah! I also heard a version with dandelion seeds, where things kept on multiplying.
My gramma always told me that a person who gossips TO you is gossiping ABOUT you. I bet that's true. She was a smart lady.
The actors in this episode were actually really good where is Dhar Mann finding them lol
Especially the girls who are Stacey and Bria. I loved the blonde as Quinn in the last one I watched.
Hollywood is filled to the brim with people with immense talent who aren't getting the work they deserve. It's so infuriatingly insular.
holy cow, this video made me feel uncomfortable - Bria was geniunely malicious, and although most dhar man villians are cruel, they're also kinda cartoonish, like caricatures of people.
The more I learn about America the more I understand why everyone from there is like that
Kinda fucked up
Oh so accurate.
Anne of Green Gables: The Animated Series already did the "tear up paper, toss it in the wind, now try to get the pieces back" analogy to teach why rumors are bad like 10 years ago.
Jewish folklore did it centuries ago

I commented before you said it lol
Hey Jarvis, I'm only saying this because I know you care, and are a great ally to the trans community. (Disclaimer: this is just my two cents, and isn't necessarily the case for every trans person, obviously.)
So the whole bathroom scene most likely shared sinks connecting the two bathrooms, like you said.
