So many good memories of Resi 5 and 6 co-op with my roommate from uni. They arent perfect survival horror but they are a blast to play as horror themed action.
@@TOMMYDACOMMIE I think resident evil 6 is a good game when you’re playing with a good friend. And really I think any game is good when playing it with friends. But I think the co-op experience is why so many people liked resident evil 6.
@@TOMMYDACOMMIEafter playing 5, 6 was such a disappointment to me. The lighting is better in 6 but the art direction is terrible and the mercenaries levels are poorly designed compared to 5
@@Ad-im1ne It still has creepy or unsettling moments and has similar gameplay to RE4 so it is a resident evil game at heart it just takes a backseat with horror though it still has a lot of gross monsters so once again it’s still resident evil at its core, horror isn’t the main ingredient in a resident evil game
As an African I loved this game. My first playthrough me and my friend played co-op and we had so much fun coming home from school and jumping on our PS3s to play this game.
RE5 is pretty good, the reason why the flamethrower wasn't working on the boss was because the 60 FPS Upgrade makes it so that the falmethrower phases through it. That's where the Rocket Launcher Strait is recommend.
One person needs to flamethrower him simultaneously while the other targets it's weakpoint with the Magnum Works everytime and can kill him in 5 minutes. I just did it
I mean yeah, i love old re4 more but if the remake made people happy then i will accept that, also old re4 got a latín american dub mod and i love it, i know that remake has latín american voices but the mod was made by really beloved VA and i love vanilla more so yeah, i preffer vanilla.
As much as I enjoyed the RE4 remake, I hate that it's existence is pretty much an excuse for Capcom to just remake every mainline numbered RE game they released. No matter what you tell me, we should not be discussing if RE7 deserves a remake 8 years down the line.
the explanation for the 30min boss fight with the Uroboros Mkono is that the game being in 60fps now instead of 30fps like the consoles made it is weakpoint retreat faster causing his regen to be faster as well as soon as it retracted. its almost impossible to kill it without the rocket if you want to keep your sanity.
I don't think it's that cause I have zero Issues killing it on PS4. The Flamethrower only exposes it's weakpoints. While the other player needs to shoot the weakpoints as one flamethrowers it. I find Magnum to be the best as it only takes a few shots from it fully upgraded. I've never had problems with that boss one time in my life. I'll never get why people have a hard time with that lol
@@MistahJay7Dude, I was unloading the elephant killer, straight up mag-dumping on the weak points and the boss just refused to die for almost 10+ minutes. This fight on newer gen consoles is legit bugged and/or glitched.
On CO-OP it's easy but on solo it's stressful because he will regenerate faster and sometimes Sheva will be too dumb to attack him if you have the flamethrower. Back on my 360 days he was not as hard but once I replayed on Xbox One on veteran, it took me almost 2 hours to kill him using the flamethrower strat.
Capcom did somewhat confirm an RE5 remake was coming, by teasing that there are 4 RE projects being worked on right now, and considering how well RE4R did its basically guaranteed RE5R is being worked on, along with RE9 and two other projects.
My guesses? RE IX: 2025 (Ideal premise for a returning character: Sherry Birkin. If original 2 is still canon, designing the entire game around the unkillable, immortal, regenerating Sherry Birkin could be an interestingly bombastic idea.) RE5 Remake: 2027 RE Revelations 3: 2028 RE X: 2030
@cursed770 REvelations 2 mentioned a bunch of Wesker Clones (or siblings, I don't remember) with the main villain being one, so I imagine they were always planning to bring back Wesker in some form. Also they may end up changing RE6 in a remake, so either they will change Jake Wesker, or replace him, but its possible they will merely redesign him to look more like wesker at the very least.
it works so well, too! the right stick while running works even better. i use it in both 4 and 5 to quickly snap my aim to a corner for turning quickly or targeting someone on the side of the screen, but re5 even lets you to it vertically and it's just so responsive
14:30-14:55 I believe this issue is exclusive to platforms with better hardware, as the boss doesn't really have an issue dying to the flamethrower on PS3/360. Something about better frame rates just makes that boss way more durable so if you're on PC you can at least cap your FPS to make it more in line with how tanky it's supposed to be. For something like PS4 tho, rocket cheese is pretty much the only viable solution.
this reminds of dead space and how it was not letting me through the first door because my fps was too high and the physics engine was tied to the fps lmao
Not nessisarily I think it may come to the individual playstyle actually! As was described J was using Assault Rifles and Shotguns Bosses have a range of Damage Resistances Uroboros Mikono has a default 30% damage resistance for every limb except main weak spot, which takes "normal" damage THEN certain weapons deal modified damage, Shotguns only deal 40% normal damage, and Machine Guns deal 70% Knives deal 300% The strat is to use the explosive barrel, then one player flamethrower the core while other player hacks away with knife
It's definitely an fps issue because his weak points don't appear when using fire weapons at higher framerates. I had to lower the fps just to make the flamethrower make the weak points appear. This is also a problem with the Jill Wesker fight where you normally have 7 minutes. At higher fps the fight duration seems to shorten massively.
12:30 If you equip the ammo and approach your partner, you hand ammo to them in parts instead of the whole stack. It goes "20 for handgun, 100 for MG, 10 for shotgun, 10 for rifle, and 6 for magnum", according to a Steam post comment by Snypor
Neither did RE4, yet they remade it. So we're probably getting a RE5 remake, whether we want to or not. I just hope the coop will be as fun and will have a split-screen option
Fun factoid: The "tribal" majini looking and acting the way they do is actually specifically noted in a diary entry or something of the sort, and is a weird side effect of the las plagas infection. It's called out by a young member of the tribe, and specifically noted as being super weird how all of the adults start painting themselves up like their ancestors did.
Yes, and Quiet had an in universe reason for being half naked in MGS5. Doesn't really change the fact that Kojima just wanted a half naked lady in his game and made up a BS excuse for it.
@@StarWolf5298 its utterly a stupid reason too, The plagas literally made them "revert to their tribal ways" which to me is even more insulting should have just put them in the game and not explained it at all.
@@EdgeO419I agree it's still problematic but it's not wholly unprecedented in the series. The Spaniards in 4 start using medieval weapons which is essentially "reverting to their primitive ways". But at the end of the day it's still a half baked excuse to have you fight tribal west Africans.
I recently replayed RE5 with my girlfriend who hadn't played it before and it was a blast. It wasn't what people expected when it came out but its such a fun coop game :)
11:20 this is actually HUGE! As someone who loved RE5. I would play the “hoard mode mercenaries. I would always go for “animation kills” and during the animation I would open the menu and reload my weapons. That mode was dopamine incarnate!
Just starting the video so can't comment on what is said, but we need an RE5 remake as much as we needed an RE4 remake, which wasn't at all. BUT, I am glad we got one and since RE4 and RE5 are basically the same from a design and gameplay standpoint, it would make sense to remake this too, and then of course RE6 would benefit from it to just bring everything in line with the modern era. But there is no need to ever remake RE7 and beyond.
@@777GabrielGP_moneyYHVH yeah, it makes me laugh when people praise RE4 as being one of the best games ever but hate on RE5. I get people not liking the co-op aspect, it is janky when playing on PS3/360, but the AI is much better today on last gen systems/PC, also give Sheva just a sniper and she will just hit 100% of her shots. But it really is just the same game at its core, it plays the same, it looks similar, it just doesn't have a merchant
re4 and re5 are like 99% the same except 5 has co-op in it and the inventory change, slight camera change. I'm still not positive how their dogshit REengine is going to be able to support that.
I feel like if Capcom is gonna focus on remaking RE games, they should turn to the ones that weren't well receieve and deserve to be remade like Code Veronica or Survivor.
The Flamethrower Uroboros fight is actually the most fun coop battle in this game. The thing people usually get wrong is that the flamethower itself won't do much damage to the boss. You use the flamethower to actually keep the boss weak points exposed while the other player/AI partner hit it's weak spots with conventional weaponry (the orange bulb things that emerge from it's tentacles while you burn the boss down).
@@travisgeorge1553 dunno about How the AI perform with weapons in this Fight, since I always employ Sheva the Flamethrower duty when I play and Just discharge my Rifle at the weak spots. The AI partner keep the Boss stunned with Flames just fine
Just a question: you talked about Sheva didn't use rocket launcher in the game but all of your footage, Sheva is in the Cover mode, which is more conservative. Do you know that was a command to make the AI heavy action focused(Attack mode)?
Oh yeah the boss at 14:30 it's basically a framerate issue given the og version in the PS3 and 360 was running at 30 FPS, so yeah, it is very common for Japanese devs to tie game logic to framerate so that's why that boss is basically broken, rocket launcher all the way, great video J, to this day I honestly still love this game
The tribal enemies were explained in a note. It was from the perspective of a child in the marsh section. The child talked about either umbrella or tricell when they were giving medicine to the adults, and he hid to avoid getting it. Over time the child noticed the adults getting angrier and angrier and acting weird. Then the child noticed adults adoning tribal gear and thinking it was odd because there were no festivals happening to warrant it. The child then said something along the lines of the adults not appearing human anymore along with the weird behavior. Then the child was caught and forced to take the medicine, and the rest of the note was the child losing his humanity as the medicine he was forced to take was the proginator (i think?) virus.
@Caes3r_ stream controller input. Just left click the game in library and enable it. Then you can change any controls. I made re4 remake controls like the original dead space.
Only the most delusional of RE4 or Leon fanboys say 5 is the worst, and they are still salty that 5’s STILL the best selling in the series. They are likely shitting themselves about a remake destroying 4’s remake
@@ph43draaaMercenaries in RE6 with the new mechanics (at the time) was great but the story is a complete dumpster fire and it’s understandable that they essentially rebooted with RE7.
Resident Evil 4 especially didn't need a remake, but they made one anyway. Resident Evil 5 isn't as good as 4 anyway, so I fully expect them to remake it too. The real issue is they keep ignoring Code Veronica. That game is ass cheeks and desperately needs a remake.
they're in a rush to make money they dont give a shit what they fk up at this point cuz the toxic fanbase laps it up and shouts anyone down who disagrees.
I might be the only one but I really want a remake of RE0. Rebecca chambers was such a cool character but was wasted so much past RE0 and technically RE1
13:51 That occurs cause you set sheva to "Cover" you, instead of set her to "Attack". That's why there's a "Cover" or "Attack" on the HUD next to the life bar. She will use heavy weapons only when you set her to attack.
The only reason they'd remake RE5 is to make sure Wesker survives this time for a potential return to RE9. And I assume that game will be out by 2026, celebrating the franchise's 30 years. So hopefully we get the 5 or CV remake by next year
I wholeheartedly disagree. Wesker should stay dead in RE5. Capcom should not have to resort to milking a villain over and over again when they have so much more creative potential.
I remember I got RE5 on launch day and my cousin came over to stay the night and we stayed up all night playing it co-op and beat it in one sitting. Such a good time.
I played this game co-op with my best friend for the entirety of it. I didn't know the A.I. sucked. I didn't know that dialogue is not spoken while you are playing co-op. In addition, the Wesker final boss fight was infinitely replayed because my best friend and myself didn't know what to do. What needs to be done is spoken and performed by the A.I. partner. I feel like this is the game's biggest flaw.
I actually got to meet TJ Storm at a convention and he was a really cool guy and even did a josh impression when I said I played RE5 one of the coolest interactions I've ever had.
One of the few games I actually got every achievement for just because I liked it. The biggest problem I had with it was the co-op mechanics cause it affects the single player as well.
RE5 > RE7 I can still see some semblance of the RE universe on it, unlike 7 when it's focused on being a ghost story like movie game. That's NOT resident evil.
How can you say 7 is not resident evil but say 5 is ? All action, shootouts w enemies, co-op, lack of tension, lack of puzzles. This take makes no sense
@@MR.__G resident evil 4, aka the best game in the series wasn't that scary of puzzle heavy. And didn't had fucking ghost girl imagery. That's a way worse offense
@@CYB3R2K how is that relevant to you saying 5 is more of a RE game than 7 ? Btw I do know 4 is where the series took a different approach. It started the action and QTE trend. It’s a great game but most original fans feel is not a true RE experience
@@CYB3R2K once again you’re ignoring how you said 5 is more of a RE game than 7 lol… yes OG fans who started from the original in 96 not you who started in 01
I thought I was the only one that felt this way resident evil 5 doesn’t not need a remake at all. Crazy thing is capcom is still willing to remake it over code Veronica
@sarunas8638 RE 5 and 6 is canon along with the cgi movies like RE damnation and RE vendetta even RE Death island only thing that’s not canon are the RE novels but if they remake them then there will be two different timelines
If RE5 doesn't need a remake, then RE4 absolutely didn't need one. I know a select few of y'all are going to hate hearing this because I'm stating the obvious at this point, but there are vastly more things wrong with 5 than there is with 4, mainly in terms of story and artistic direction. If any of the RE games needed a serious makeover, it's 5. And 6 too. But that one might be too far gone to ever fix.
Truly never understood people’s problem with Sheva. They expect the AI to carry them instead of the reverse. I give Sheva a non-upgraded pistol and nothing else (sniper in some sections) and do just fine on professional lol
Fun fact: Resident Evil 5 is a much shorter game then Resident Evil 4, so much so that if you want the infinite rocket launcher, you have beat the game in less than 5 hours, which is very easy to do Compare this to RE4 being like 12 hours long on an average playthrough
Glad you liked this game! Me and my buddy played the heck out of co-op and got the platinum trophy (hard to believe it was 15+ years ago). Was such a fun experience; again, glad you enjoyed it as well. Nice work on this video.
It didn’t, but I’m glad it did. They got rid of bad game design in RE4 2005. The mobs in re4 2005 were full retard. Enough so you can knife run the entire game
so many ppl give big reasons why re5 is good in its own way instead of being bad and garbage yet others dont see it and hate on it for no reason, re5 is above re4 for me and both are amazing in THEIR OWN way and is my favorite re game
You say there wasn't really any big controversy right after talking about how every mainstream publication weighted in on it and even Capcom changed their development process because of it. So which is it?
Lol Playing so much classic megaman made you blind at excrement games You play games exploiting ais and insta killing it with rockets/most op weapon that makes the experience inexistence
To make sheva more aggressive and use more powerful weapons, you need to hold the “come on” button until a menu shows up and select “Go”. He will then pull out her better weapons. Cover mode makes her more reserved
RE4 doesn’t really have improvements in the remake besides graphical. Most things are changed not for better or worse, but for a more appealing gameplay style for modern players. But RE5 can be improved in one aspect alone, the AI companion. Gameplay is probably not gonna be that different from RE4:R with some 5 aspects like no pause when using inventory.
This is the second RE game I've played the most. New and current one is RE4R. RE5 is the most polished RE game and so much fun to play (even much more than the remakes). I've played alone and unlocked EVERYTHING, both on PS3 back in the day and on Steam the last few years. Alone and with friends. I just love it and I believe people just like to talk shit about it because internet. I don't know how a RE5 Remake could be, but the team will have a harder job trying to make it better than the original (which was very naturally accomplished with RE4R, IMO).
I think you’re for sure wrong on capcom not making changes to “appease the mob.” The world has changed a lot in 10+ years. I hope capcom holds strong because the argument is baseless and stupid but I wouldn’t be so sure.
I wish they made more levels in swamp area in RE4, it kinda gave RE4 vibe from village, but all this daytime levels, locations, zombies with guns etc, killed RE vibe. Im glad they kept some sounds from RE4. They removed merchant, weapon constumization is not fun as in RE4, also inventory is limited and you cant change weapon while game is paused.
RE5 is my first and probably most played RE game. Had so much fun with co-op. I liked the live inventory system. Nothing better than pulling off a melee attack while reloading in the inventory mid-animation.
I admire the amount of research you did, as well as the commitment to play through everything the game has to offer. I absolutely love everything about this game, story, voice acting, greenish over saturated filter, boulder-punchcing Chris… Loved your commentary and insights, nice video!
There's two parts where I felt really hard how AI Sheva sucked, the battle against controlled Jill and Wesker, and later in that part against the two JJs
I am a massive RE5 fan, ive played it on PS3, PC, PS4 and have done all sorts of runs for it for years. It's unapologetically one of my favorite RE games and I have played the classics and I love RE Outbreak as well as a side note. However I do believe a Remake should be welcome, often i am opposted to Sequels like I don't really want one for Bloodborne for alot of reasons I just think Bloodborne is a very complete series as it is, perhaps you have similar ideas for RE5. RE5 is amazing but it's been 15 years and everything that has been done or yielded from RE5 has already been done, there have been spinoffs using the RE4/5 format and the things learned of it like RE6 and Revelations. While I don't think everything about the recent RE Remake games are perfect adaptations, I think they do bring new things to the table about the original source material. When you think of it at a macro scale RE5 is to this day still one of the greatest couch co-op 3rd person survival horror shooters of all time, there's not much competition because there simply arent many that capture the same energy as this franchise. Perhaps a similar game of the time that sort of does is DeadSpace3 but RE4/5 and DeadSpace have alot of cross pollination going on. There is something special about the co-op horror shooter genre, i would even say Outbreak online is a very early instance of this genre, give it a try via emulator fan servers obsvr if you haven't already. The dependency on one another 1 to 1, against the terrors clashing with the smooth co-operative combat actions and the interplay between players surrounding objectives while also having moments for characters to simply enjoy taking in the world with one another is just a bit of a rare in gaming. I would love to see RE5 one of the best co-op survival horrors to do it come bac for a remake just to stir up the current landscape of co-operative shooters and offer both the industry and consumers something new to consider to maybe find new broader appeal with this genre. I wouldn't mind if RE5 had segments that sought to be more horrifying legitimately, and I'd love to see more nuanced co-op dependency beyond just sharing items and ammo with one another online or guns offline. I really do appreciate some of the fluid instances that happen in outbreak where you might have to hold a door to prevent zombies from breaking in and over running your group when in doors, or even lock picking. I really did appreciate this aspect of Lost in Nightmares RE5 having more of this kind of gameplay where jill is the one who has the skills to pick a door lock. The players have to co-ordinate a bit more to kill specific enemy types, and while i do think these segments could be better it was a refreshing change of pace to the constant nuts to wall action of the main campaign. It has that sort of calm that befalls the original classic survival horror games but no mistake it is still RE5. TLDR: I'd love to see an RE5 remake because I accept original RE5 for what it is, we've truly gotten everything we could get out of it i think and I'd love to have more of this format but with new innovations that could possibly stimulate the broader games industry to have another chance to see that people really do like co-op adventure shooters with survival horror elements.
@5:00 this inventory system was already implemented 6 years prior to this game, we have Outbreak to thank for that. And it was more annoying in that game too. A classic survival horror tank control RE with real-time inventory, and it was also online co-op multiplayer, too. Shocking that it didn't get a shout out here, it's not mainline game, but it's still canon
What non of the current RE can compete with is RE5 mercenaries. It has the highest skill ceiling of all the mercenaries. Much harder to maintain the 150 streak while haven’t massive time differential.
When RE5 came out, some store in New Jersey got it a week early. I don't know how, but they put up a post on some private site my buddy belonged to and somehow, my buddy heard about it. Neither one of us believed it but I was like, "Well, I have nothing going on today. Wanna give it a shot?" So he jumped online, reserved a copy, we crossed our fingers and set out. My buddy and I got high, drove 6 hours to New Jersey, picked up the Limited/Special Edition with the figurine, ate a bunch of crap at White Castle, and drove another 6 hours back home. Apparently this random guy that owned a game store in New Jersey was actually legit. That night, we played all night and beat the game. By the time we were done, it was like 6am the next day. One of the best memories I have from that time. I wish I was 20 years old again.
I’d love for RE5 remake to include more co-op reliant obstacles/ challenges like those broken ladders or relying on each other to pull levers. Also more background story campaigns like Desperate Escape and Lost in Nightmares. Maybe a campaign of Alpha and Delta teams’ demise and how Josh survived all the way to flying the helicopter above the volcano.
The only reason Re5 gets the hate it does is because it just so happens to be the sequel to one of the greatest games of all time (Re4). It gets an unfairly review because of this comparison. Re5 took goods of Re4 while cleaning up some of the mistakes the game made. All in all, Re5 was a really good game. Re5 isn’t that scary because it’s suppose to be game about hope and revelation. That seemed to be the theme. Also this was suppose to wrap up the finale of the Wesker vs Chris story
Interesting to see someone review RE5 in a single player context. And tailoring your playstyle after the ai companion is pretty good way to go about it, letting Sheva shine in a supporting role. Small tip; almost nobody mentions it, but Sheva can be ordered into "Attack" mode where she takes point and uses more powerful weapons she is holding and is less discerning with her ammo. It's good for when you need her to take a little more heat off you in frantic combat situations and bosses, but leaves you both a bit more vulnerable to incapacitation.
While the current dev team have proven capable of making good remake, it still feels like their talent is being wasted when they could be making great NEW games.
You missed one important detail about the inventory system. You can use it while performing a melee attack where you are invulnerable. Try to combine herbs and reload weapons. It works well, and it makes the game way faster.
I love the menu in this game! Fun fact: you can menu reload the gun by selecting the ammo for that gun in your menu and dropping it on the corresponding weapon to reload it. Works well for bypassing slow reloads and reloading during melee cutscenes. Edit: Nvm. You said it. lol
Resident evil 5 is gonna be harder to remake than 4. Good luck trying to remake those weaker scenes. What I loved most about RE back then was that the story evolved with the gameplay. The Chris/weaker feud had an epic finale in 5.
RE5 can use a remake. Especially the game play graphics, some story elements, etc. If they do as good as they did with the RE2 remake and RE4 remake, then it definitely will be pretty good.
If you played this game with a friend you truly got what it was about. My friend and I had so much fun with this game. I still prefer four, but anyone who says this was a 'bad' game needs their head checked.
I lacked hardware that could run RE 5 when I was kid and actually wanted to play it, and when I grew up and had money, the online hate for 5 and 6 was well known and I essentially gave up on it. After seeing the game come up in the public eye again due to a remake in development, I’m actually really excited to play this game now that I have an actual gaming PC, and will probably also try RE 6 and give it a chance, especially because I know what it is going in and can adjust my expectations toward a campy action game and enjoy it for what it is.
I clicked on the vid out of whim but mad respect for enjoying RE5 and not spending 20+min riding it's back. Some of my fav childhood memories came from RE5 playing with my uncle and brother and I can totally agree that a Remake "would be nice" but it'd be totally content with how it is Can't wait to see your RE6 vid!
So I actually have a little story with this game. Every night when I was like 5 or 6, I’d watch my dad play this game, he was in love with this game and the series, beat it several times. That brought my love for this franchise, that I wouldn’t discover again til 7, afterwards I’d play the remakes and ever since I’ve loved this series, so much so I went out and got a real re4 inspired Bowie knife. This series means so much to me and it’s all thanks to this game.
The best thing about RE5 is that if you want to get a better grade on the missions, you don't have to replay the entire game. You can pick and choose the chapters and difficulty in which you want to play that chapter.
You can also move around items and reload weapons from the inventory while engaged in other actions, like going up and down ladders or punching/kicking enemies.
we said the same thing abt re4, cause its just one of those games of all time. but we got one n it was a 500 out of 10. so i'm patiently waiting tbh :)
He really barely scratched the surface of the melee system. He didn’t address finishers and even said that Rebecca doesn’t do any physical takedowns… even though she does if you shoot them in the leg or attack them from the back after shooting their arm. Sucks because the melee system was so much more of a highlight of this game than most people realize
I don’t think it needs one yet, but I would play the hell outta it when or if they remake it. They should remake Code Veronica, overhaul Umbrellas End and Operation Javier, then do a remake for 5. But if 5 is the next remake after 9, I’d be happy to play it.
The game really is quite an experience to have, and fun fact before the first chainsaw majini if you angle a grenade throat just write you can actually break the lock without needing to throw sheva over there
There’s an easy to install mod for the game that lets you disable the built-in piss filter with a toggle key, and good god the game looks so much nicer without it. there’s a surprising amount of color to the environments that get drowned out by the yellow/green filter, its worth giving it a look :)
11:30, I don't know if console can do this, but on PC you literally just drag and drop ammo into an appropriate gun and it'll be reloaded instantly, and you can do it during a take down animation too, if you do it efficiently, you effectively eliminate ALL reload in the game
14:30 Me and my friend had that issue when we played RE5 together and used the rocket launcher strat. It's some sort of bug, maybe tied to the higher framerate? But either way, the boss becomes invincible on PC. We know this because we used ALL OF OUR RESOURCES one attempt...
The DLC "Lost in Nightmares" is what really cemented this game for me. I know RE5 got alot of stick when it first came out, but I really enjoyed it. Graphics were really striking at the time, it was vintage Capcom bringing the new technology.
I used to play a lot of RE5, and one thing that doesn't get brought up a lot in reasons that it isn't so good is the equipment upgrade system, and by and large how your permanent inventory works. The major difference between RE4 and RE5 is that RE5 is chapter based, letting you play each level individually. And thus you can grind completed levels for cash and treasures to max out your weapons. The problem is that your bulk inventory (that is to say whatever weapons you didn't bring into the level) and the gameplay are on entirely separate tracks, making your money and weapons progress permanent. This means not only _can_ you utterly cheese the entire game (with the sole exception of El Gigante at Home... yeah, I don't remember what it's called, either...) on a subsequent playthrough, but... you basically _have_ to! At least you can toggle infinite ammo off, but what's the point when a maxed out 1911 holds _a hundred rounds?_ Once you upgrade your basic handguns, they _stay_ upgraded forever until you sell them, and even selling your stuff leaves you with a buttload of money you're _not_ supposed to have in early levels. Unlike RE4, you can _never_ get a clean playthrough from the start without hard resetting your game data. You are obligated to either play New Game Plus all the time, or hard reset your entire game data. No backsies. In RE4, your loadout was commensurate to your progress in the game. Thus, each save file only had as much progress as that file made. If you screwed up and mismanaged your resources, you had to live with your bad choices. By contrast, if you played well, you'd become a shotgun turret with legs. This is how every other video game I've ever seen handles things... except Resident Evil 6. But in RE5, you have one inventory that every mission had access to. And you get a chance to go to it whenever you want so long as you're willing to give up progress since your last checkpoint (which is basically all that dying does to you). And since your inventory will essentially bloat infinitely with any healing items or ammunition you fail to use up by the end of each level (or grab, restart, and drop off in your inventory if you're a cheating scrub...), you will stockpile _insane_ amounts of supplies and fully-upgraded weapons after even a casual playthrough. Let players have multiple inventory save files. How is any playthrough after the first supposed to even remotely challenge you when at literally any time you can duck out and visit your Lockheed Martin fairy godmother and return to the fray completely restocked? You're not getting these resources for your masterful conservation of what the game gives you. You get supplies by sheer attrition.

RE5 is pretty good, the reason why the flamethrower wasn't working on the boss was because the 60 FPS Upgrade makes it so that the falmethrower phases through it. That's where the Rocket Launcher Strait is recommend.
wow that's crazy... reminds me of RE4 HD button mash being much more difficult 😅
I used the flame grenade strat
Yep. I always just blast it with the rocket launcher the second the fight starts
oh man, that explains why it took us like 20 minutes to kill him :D
One person needs to flamethrower him simultaneously while the other targets it's weakpoint with the Magnum
Works everytime and can kill him in 5 minutes. I just did it
I mean we also said that about RE4 and when the remake arrived we happily took it
I mean yeah, i love old re4 more but if the remake made people happy then i will accept that, also old re4 got a latín american dub mod and i love it, i know that remake has latín american voices but the mod was made by really beloved VA and i love vanilla more so yeah, i preffer vanilla.
4 was almost a brand new game imo.
As much as I enjoyed the RE4 remake, I hate that it's existence is pretty much an excuse for Capcom to just remake every mainline numbered RE game they released. No matter what you tell me, we should not be discussing if RE7 deserves a remake 8 years down the line.
The game got a lot of dubs. So far it's the only one that I think I can play in Mandarin Chinese
It is a different case and if you keep playing dumb, people will keep treating you as so.
the explanation for the 30min boss fight with the Uroboros Mkono is that the game being in 60fps now instead of 30fps like the consoles made it is weakpoint retreat faster causing his regen to be faster as well as soon as it retracted. its almost impossible to kill it without the rocket if you want to keep your sanity.
I see
I don't think it's that cause I have zero Issues killing it on PS4.
I read it was 5 projects. Hopefully Code Veronica and or Zero are among those games.

RE IX: 2025 (Ideal premise for a returning character: Sherry Birkin. If original 2 is still canon, designing the entire game around the unkillable, immortal, regenerating Sherry Birkin could be an interestingly bombastic idea.)
RE5 Remake: 2027
RE Revelations 3: 2028
RE X: 2030

Or you can shut the hell up.
this reminds of dead space and how it was not letting me through the first door because my fps was too high and the physics engine was tied to the fps lmao
Not nessisarily
I think it may come to the individual playstyle actually! As was described J was using Assault Rifles and Shotguns
Bosses have a range of Damage Resistances
Uroboros Mikono has a default 30% damage resistance for every limb except main weak spot, which takes "normal" damage
THEN certain weapons deal modified damage, Shotguns only deal 40% normal damage, and Machine Guns deal 70%
Knives deal 300%
The strat is to use the explosive barrel, then one player flamethrower the core while other player hacks away with knife
Usually it's the opposite on pc ports, high framerate makes you do more damage.
Too bad many miss the note.
Yes, and Quiet had an in universe reason for being half naked in MGS5. Doesn't really change the fact that Kojima just wanted a half naked lady in his game and made up a BS excuse for it.

The problem being the A.I., that won't shoot. It only works in co-op, and before this game, that was never a feature.

Nah don’t make excuses for them
You're supposed to flamethrower him while the other guys shoots the weakpoints. It's not a broken boss
I feel like what the RE4 Remake did well it is deepen it's lore on the story by adding more horror elements to what made the first game great
The tribal enemies were explained in a note.

That wouldn’t work unfortunately, RE9 would still be in the original timeline the remakes are in a separate chain of events than the original.

I'm loving Capcom right now with streetfighter & resident evil. Keep em coming team! I'll play anything at this point
Re5 was one of the best co op experiences I've ever had
I instantly recognized chris’ voice actor when i started from assassin’s creed ezio trilogy
I absolutely love everything about this game, story, voice acting, greenish over saturated filter, boulder-punchcing Chris…
Loved your commentary and insights, nice video!
There's two parts where I felt really hard how AI Sheva sucked, the battle against controlled Jill and Wesker, and later in that part against the two JJs
I am a massive RE5 fan, ive played it on PS3, PC, PS4 and have done all sorts of runs
for it for years. It's unapologetically one of my favorite RE games and I have played the classics and I love RE Outbreak as well as a side note.
However I do believe a Remake should be welcome, often i am opposted to Sequels like I don't really want one for Bloodborne for alot of reasons I just think
Bloodborne is a very complete series as it is, perhaps you have similar ideas for RE5.
RE5 is amazing but it's been 15 years and everything that has been done
or yielded from RE5 has already been done, there have been spinoffs using the RE4/5 format and the things learned of it like RE6 and Revelations. While I don't think
everything about the recent RE Remake games are perfect adaptations, I think they do bring new things to the table about the original source material. When you think of it
at a macro scale RE5 is to this day still one of the greatest couch co-op 3rd person survival horror shooters of all time, there's not much competition because there simply arent many
that capture the same energy as this franchise.
Perhaps a similar game of the time that sort of does is DeadSpace3 but RE4/5 and DeadSpace have alot of cross pollination going on.
There is something special about the co-op horror shooter genre, i would even say Outbreak online is a very early instance of this genre, give it a try via emulator fan servers obsvr
if you haven't already. The dependency on one another 1 to 1, against the terrors clashing with the smooth co-operative combat actions and the interplay between players surrounding objectives
while also having moments for characters to simply enjoy taking in the world with one another is just a bit of a rare in gaming.
TLDR: I'd love to see an RE5 remake because I accept original RE5 for what it is, we've truly gotten everything we could get out of it i think and I'd love to have more of this format but
with new innovations that could possibly stimulate the broader games industry to have another chance to see that people really do like co-op adventure shooters with survival horror elements.
RE5 is my favorite coop game. A remake - incorporating the RE4R mechanics - could be very exciting!
We said this about RE4 and it turned out a new masterpiece. Also vr modes are a treat
I hope we get VR modes for all new RE games moving forward. No matter what platform it's on, I'm there.
5 and especially 6 need remakes imo. Although I think 6 might be the trickiest
re5 was my first resident evil game and it holds a special place in my heart. me and my sister loved playing it, especially mercenaries
Great review, concise and very well made. Very nice.
Agreed they should remake Code Veronica instead Re5 needs a remake even less then Super Metroid does.
21:56 I don't feel like anybody black worked on this review.
Some of my fav childhood memories came from RE5 playing with my uncle and brother and I can totally agree that a Remake "would be nice" but it'd be totally content with how it is
Can't wait to see your RE6 vid!
Yes, RE CV is a game that would greatly benefit from a remake.
I would LOVE!!!!! a RE5 remake
I am an identical twin. I grew up having to share a PS3, and this was one of my favorite games that I ever had and it goes down as the best resident evil in my eyes when I grew up and got my own consul for myself I still think that is the best resident evil and was just playing yesterday
