  • We finally got the 4x4 Dream Camper running well enough to put it to the test! In this build series we build a DIY 4x4 snorkel and put it to the test by driving through a pond depth puddle while dragging will in an inner-tube. This ultimate back yard go kart needs a few more bald eagles to make Cleetus Mcfarland proud but we will be there soon!

    Just some tips if you plan to go deep: di-electric grease the spark plugs and make sure to run all your carb vents is high as possible and put one-way valves in the carb bowl drains. Also vent the diffs too

    Your little pipe piece that you call a bung. That is actually a bunghole. A bung is what fits into the bunghole. Bungs came about in sealing casks which would hold wine. They would fill the wine cask. Then fill the bunghole with a bung, a round wooden stopper.

    Btw. The snorkel should be at the roof. That way you can drive the snorkel in deep water while breathing in a divers snorkel yourself...! -Basicly submarining the thing throug mudholes... you might need an ecco location device... LOL

    Love your videos. Keep in mind that needing to choke the engine can also mean clogged and dirty ports in the carburetor. I know that removing the stock filter makes many carburetors a bit lean especially on smaller engines but needing that much choke makes me believe that it will run bad even on the stock box.
    Either way, there is definitely more power to be gained.

    • @TKettle
      @TKettle 2 года назад +3

      It's definitely got "afterfire" too, so along with clogged jets or venturi ports, it could also be unhappy with the exhaust back pressure. Or maybe a vacuum port that should be capped off.
      One thing that takes newbies a long time to learn, is adding more air and fuel almost never increases power in any significant way to carbed engines. At least not on off road vehicles. Manufacturers have no reason to limit power on a quad or dirt bike. The only way you'll make bigger power is with big bore kits, porting, and changing cam profiles.
      Usually all that happens when changing airflow and jets is you kill the efficiency and reliability, and turn it all into extra noise (which some people think is more power).

    • @B58_G20
      @B58_G20 2 года назад +1

      @@TKettle Manufacturers have plenty of reason to limit power and you mentioned them... reliability and fuel efficiency. Many bikes these days come quite lean so they can pass the emissions requirements, adding fuel and air has been shown on the dyno to add power.

    Hey guys, Ethan if your having to choke the Barbi camper with a plastic bag it's probably more than likely got a vacuum leak. there could be a vacuum hose disconnected or it could be at the carburetor flanges. it's not unusual for them to get cracks in them. especially if it's been sitting around for awhile. they get dried out and get hard and cracked and it's sometimes difficult to see the cracks. and there's a possibility that it needs flattened up. because if you opened up the exhaust and they intake larger than original. it may need a richer air fuel mixture. the Barbi camper is really cool and it has it's purpose. but I'm sticking with what I originally said when you built Colonel Sender's. it's going to be a long time before something tops it no doubt it's truly badass. I'm curious what are your plans for the Odyssey. I've been looking for one, I have an engine from a sled to put in one. but they are sort difficult to find. well the Barbi camper is coming along great. and it's probably good to have the bonus creature comforts built into this build.

    2 things, not hate just suggestions about the kawi motors, I don’t know what year the motor is but on the older ones before 2012 the oil pump was at the front, wile going up inclines it will dump oil in the rear cylinder and starve the front cylinder of oil and will sometimes go into the air box it will burn oil when this happens as the rear cylinder is being flooded with oil and number 2 always always check the oil on the kawi motor they are notorious for burning oil even if you don’t notice it I assume you check it every time the motor gets driven but always check up on it not really to do with the motor but with a snorkel for the air intake there also needs to be a belt intake and belt exhaust or else your belt will get wet wile in deep water and then it will slip and not move, cvt machines are a pain

Small repeated bumps to the head can be really bad news when it comes to head injury, people that do sliding sports end up with a condition known as "sled head" from the vibration and bumps. The louder I talk, the more people assume I know what I'm talking about. Works every time.

    I would suggest fixing the head banging problem by redoing the left & right bars and fill out the space of the side windows so there more out of the way basically just widening them

    You my friends could carry a re-make of the A-Team... No. You would put the series to shame.
    Love your determination/creativity/videos! Keep them coming! xD

    Use a baffle to choke the intake down to the right amount, then lock it in place with some spot welds.
