Hey good video, helped me out a bunch getting rid of my adaptive headlight warning on my 2008 135i. Just a heads up for anyone that this isn’t working for you may be required to do an extra step after you “FA_write” to the CAS and the NFRM; you will need to “Change Job” select “SG_Codrien” then “Execute Job” to apply the changes to your CAS and NFRM.
To anyone having this problem, Try resetting your battery, I believe you just disconnect it for a few seconds for the system to clear, If that didn't work more than likely your motor is going out or one of the adjuster arms may be broken and that means the whole assembly would need to be replaced, At that point coding it out may be best. I think the adaptable headlights are kinda neat but not at all necessary, It's just one of those wow whizzbang features.
Through this process can I activate my adaptive headlights? My car came without the modules and without any error in the panel, I bought new modules, I plugged them in but they didn't work. Through this DIY can I activate them again?
If your car came with adaptive headlights, and you bought new modules and fitted them, then you need to add the code he removes in the video to your VO/FA in the same way he removes it. And then code the modules that holds the VO/FA (frm, cas and I think kombi). You might also need to do a factory reset on the modules to set them up with adaptive light settings. Might not be the best explanation but.
Thank you so much for this video. My version wasn’t quite the same, but hours of searching online didn’t clearly show how to get through it for the first time. I appreciate it!
Ty for the great video. Can I use this method when replacing my E46 Xenon Adaptive Headlights to Non-Adaptive Headlights ? Reason I am replacing to non adaptive is because passenger side headlight is out and it’s too expensive to replace with original headlights
@@steveromeocars Hey, sorry I live in the US. I'm not sure what all is involved in MOT tests. We do have annual vehicle inspections (not every state requires it but mine does) but I've never seen them check the headlight beam height. Not sure they could anyway, there's never a wall in the front of my car to shine the headlight on when they're doing the inspection. If I recall, when I coded the adaptive headlights out, the headlights did not automatically adjust their height anymore. I could manually do it though using the screw on the back of the headlights. I've since replaced the ahl module and coded them back in since the module is pretty cheap now.

You need to factory code them also, to change the coding on them. They still have the coding with adaptive lights in them even if you change the VO. Factory reset reads the VO and sets up the modules for the codes listed in the VO.
I have an f30 with headlight vertical aim control and sidelight failure messages when it's not the case will this software work with f30s or is it only compatible with e90s?
