Getting my 335i ready for a road trip and sure enough I had to pop that adjustment rod into the socket for the light to function properly. Thank you! This video saved me the trouble of removing the headlight assembaly to figure out the problem.

FYI the driver side headlight is lower because it helps to not blind on coming traffic. and that is the factory setup not malfunction.
The headlight level before your adjustment seems to be an appropriate level for safety.

The driver side should be lower, but not like I had. It was misaligned completely. At the end, it's still slightly on angle and pointed down so it doesn't point at the oncoming traffic, but I can actually see where I'm going now.

I was going to say the same. If a right hand drive car then the right light would ail lower

I have a 2012 335i f30 with n55 engine. I need help with this similar issue. I have a check engine light on for this problem and am having a problem passing Emissions testing because of the check engine light being on, I bought it from previous owner who said he replaced the headlight on the passenger side and it’s had a check engine light on since I’ve had it and is throwing a code for “ CD8E10 LIN Bus : Communications Fault “
I also have a adaptive headlight malfunction and headlight vertical aim malfunction. I need to figure out how to code these errors out or atleast find a solution to the problems without having to spend thousands of $$

Heres my car. Steering completely straight both headlights are straight but in my opinion to low, my left headlight is even lower. If the steering is centered and the lights are straight and i turn the steering all the way to counter clockwise the lights stay straight do not move at all, if i move the steering from full counterclockwise to center again they dont move.....but if i go just a degree over center clockwise both headlights go to the right all the way through steering clockwise, and both will go left as i turn counterclockwise back to center steering again but once centered they will not go even a degree to the left. So they both have the ability to go left and right up and down, but they remain straight with left light downwards even more when i consider the "higher" right one to be to low. Did some dingbat adjust my steering with the wheel all the way clockwise and then manually straighten them or something? and people tell me the left headlight pointing down is to avoid dazzling people but it think that is retarded considering this car is 17 years old and the xenon or even high beams arent even 1/10th of whats on 2020+........is this some coding bs or can i just turn my wheel all the way counterclockwise and adjust them to the left and try to find the center of the adaptive headlight motors......then keep re adjusting as needed...... im gunna check the level sensors but the issues im having doesnt really point to a failure in the lights more to a terrible adjustment....afterall they move in all needed directions.

Could be the little controller in the headlight. There are videos about it
