    Nice truck's! I'm a technician for GM and MY process is that if i can directly associate the problem to the aftermarket accessorie then i let my manager know. If GM kicks back the claim i personally get back flagged but so as long as I have a manager involved and they authorize the repair I'm covered from getting back flagged

    I’m in Edmonton and have a 2019 AT4 with 73,000kms. At 70,000km i had a rough downshift from 4-3. Brought it in, they called me 3hrs later saying they felt the rough downshift but asked me if i heard the ticking noise. I did but thought it was just a noisy injector or something. Sure enough it was a bad lifter. I have a afe magnum intake and jlt catch can. No issues with warranty. 1 lifter and push rod was damaged. They replaced all lifters and the one push rod which fell under the remaining powertrain warranty i still have. I was originally told i would have to pay for the transmission relearn but if that didnt solve it, to bring it back and it would likely be mechanical and would be covered. They fixed it 100% and put the transmission under my powertrain so i owed nothing.

    I’ve heard taking the cover off of the port allows for more dirt and debris to enter the intake. Saying you drove on dusty roads had me a bit concerned. In the end though it just means you may be buying filters more often. Unless you get the washable one.
    Love your trucks sound! When I get the money I’m likely getting a Borla system myself. Got the S and B intake 3 days ago.

    Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act. OE warranty CAN NOT be voided unless it is proven that the aftermarket part is what caused the failure of another part. I worked as a dealer tech for several years and I've seen dealers try to claim aftermarket parts void warranty to entire vehicle.

    Here are the facts, regardless of what any dealership tells you. Anytime you install aftermarket parts, it is against federal law for the vehicle manufacturer to void your warranty. The only thing that happens is that the dealer can choose to not cover that aftermarket part and if anything goes wrong with the vehicle, they must prove that the part you installed is the cause of the issue. Therefore, if for example you installed an aftermarket cold air intake and the mass airflow sensor goes out, the dealer can choose to not cover it and force you to pay for a replacement as long as they can prove that the intake caused the problem. However, if your radiator leaks or whatever, then they are required to cover for the cost of repairs as long as your warranty is still valid. So to answer the question does it void the warranty? The answer is only in regards to that specific part. This also means that if your lifters go bad, which unfortunately seems to be getting more and more common with the 6.2, that the dealer will be required to cover the costs because a cold air intake cannot possibly cause your lifters to fail. That issue is a manufacturing problem.

  • @Mike-dd8bd
    @Mike-dd8bd 2 года назад +4

    There is something to mention that a lot of people forget. When it comes to small warranty repairs the dealership has discretion to fix it under warranty. But for major repairs like a engine or transmission usually the car manufacturer not the dealership will want to investigate. The manufacturer will definitely want to blame aftermarket parts on anything they can. Even if you believe the part did not cause the failure you will have to fight them in court. The protection laws you mentioned are not enforced by the police. They are enforced by lawyers.

    I really appreciate your videos and thank you for all the research and everything you do. I have a question for you a little off subject. I have searched and searched…with no luck. I would assume you have the infotainment 3 UEI hd radio and back up camera in your at4. I have an SLE with the IOR radio and the back up camera screen is extremely bright at night. To the point it’s white washed out. Do you have any information about this issue? I don’t know if it affects the HD quality radios. Lots of people online looking for answers.

    • @Donslife
      @Donslife  Год назад

      I briefly looked into this. Seems to be a shared issue at least in part with several models for both Chevy and GM. I luckily don’t experience this with my 8” HD screen. I have two adjustments. One via the ambient light sensor which will allow day, night and auto. Then the cabin illumination control by the fog light switch will dim or brighten the screen with the rest of the interior lights. My reverse camera is also a correct brightness level too even with my upgraded lighting from my tailgate LED strip and license plate bulbs. I will keep an eye out for you, but I would think it could be corrected via a software fix should GM choose to pursue it. I am not aware of a TSB for your issue either

    I am so happy that you mentioned that you ran the Cold Air Inductions intake before the S&B. Which do you prefer? Did one make a bigger difference than the other? Would you recommend one over the other if you were going to keep the exhaust stock? I really appreciate all of your videos on your AT4!

    • @Donslife
      @Donslife  Год назад +1

      I like both the same for different reasons. The S&B is louder and I feel suits the theme of my AT4 more. The CAI is quieter but still gives similar gains to the S&B. It is also an easier install. Both are well complimented with an aftermarket exhaust. With a stock exhaust you’ll notice the S&B’s noise more bit it also has a larger and more exposed filter that will potentially dirty faster

    I'm suddenly curious about something after seeing this video. I have a 2019 AT4 w/the 6.2L and have almost 26K miles to date. Twice during this time, since driving it off the lot, I've had all of the "idiot lights" turn on for whatever reason, and there was a point in the video that reminded me of the same notification on your dash display. Does this mean that I may have a lifter issue as well? Is there any correlation? The last time it happened was just a couple days ago....drove into work (26 miles) with the idiot lights on from the start and when I went to back into my parking spot the parking brake was engaged. I'd not engaged it, it was just on and my vehicle wouldn't move. I disabled it and was able to park. When I left for my lunchbreak all of the idiot lights were off, but it's certainly concerning seeing your dash light up like mine did with those warning lights, so I'm just curious if I could potentially have a lifter problem (based upon the info given). If anyone would be so kind as to chime in I would appreciate it.
