Don’t forget to post that catch can install video. Sounds like a good addition for the new truck.
Check lmfscrew
If you need an install video for a Catch can you don’t need to be doing any installs of anything on your truck
@@bigbeef8935 what a silly thing to say
I worked for k&n for 12 years in maintenance, great american product, and truly made by hand in the usa.
I agreed 👍 💯 the k&n works excellent my mechanic installed the pedal commander and the Corsa exhaust system is a excellent combination. 😊🤝🤝
K&N 63 series, (3) mesh resonator deletes, and 18" Magnaflow muffler - perfect combo for me. Quiet at idle speeds/rpms with very little drone (but still slightly noticeable), and roars like a throaty beast with super low tone on medium to high acceleration. 2019 Silverado 5.3.
k&N is all that he needed too 😂😂
You have, by far, the best Trail Boss videos on YT!
I appreciate the comment! Just doing my best 🤙🏽
2020 camaro zl1 1le package 6 speed manual of course 👍🏻👍🏻
ZL1!!
Ewww not a camaro 🤢🤢
Had a Camaro traded for a truck tired of being slow
Okay, I have a 2020 Silverado 5.3 and did the coldair intake and also a JLTPerformance catch can. Wife is loving the feel of power increase and pedal response. Thanks for the ideas!
Good stuff!
Stoked you bought this truck. I have a 2007.5 2500HD, you gave me a lot of ideas and info when upgrading it. & Just bought a 2020 Trail Boss LT yesterday 🤙🏼
Just bought a brand new 2020 blacked out trail boss 5.3 and this info is priceless. Definitely will be getting the cold air intake (after my truck bed spray, truck bed mat, tonneau cover, 1.5 inch level kit, and, uhhhh, wife isn't happy)
Go with the 2" it totally levels it
Same! Thanks for the video by the way. I went with the S&B CAI and IT DID feel punchier. Mileage hasn’t been too affected by it, but it sounds great! Partnered that with a Borla S-Type exhaust and my neighbors hate me at cold start. No drone on long drives, just a smoother and better sounding drive!
If you're still looking for a catch can I highly recommend ADDW1 catch can. I have one on my 2016 silverado and it works perfectly, very good quality to boot 👌
I went with a S&B Filters Intake set up on my 2019 Silverado and it definitely gives it a growl.
Chris Kelly 5.3 or 6.2l?? Did you see any difference? And also did you went with Oil or Dry Filter?
I have a 2015 chevy Silverado and did the same thing recently. Had been wanting one since I watched another tuber change to that with it on the dyno and showed real change. Well built, lots of air flow, and brings the engine to life. Those resonator boxes really kill the sound of the engine.
Congrats, CAI is a great system. Added one to my 2019 LTZ, Silverado along with Magnaflow exhaust system. I love the sound and definitely can feel and hear the difference.
Ordered my cold air intake 5 minutes ago. Thanks making the video. I bought the same truck you did.
The big box “ugly thing” is an intake resonator. The reason you hear more I take sound or every cylinder intake stroke sound is because they eliminate that crap!
Definitely get a catch can! On top of the cai you could also heat wrap the intake pipe to further keep the heat out of the intake charge.
Love this guy he is so dam happy doing these mods and explains it well
Also, the air moves through the intake tube so quickly during acceleration the temp change in the plastic intake tube VS the metal one is negligible. If you’re a top fuel dragster then you’ll care about that 1/2 degree difference but for reg people it’s not really going to matter. If you want to you can take some fiberglass exhaust wrap for motorcycles and put it around your K&N tube. That’s what some of the drag cars do.
The build quality is nice on the Cold Air Inductions kit, but the K&N servicability is better. I'm happy with the K&N intake on my 2012 Silverado.
As a 2019 new body style owner, you MUST get a pedal commander or some sort of throttle response module. Its a 5 min plug and play install and COMPLETELY changed the throttle response in these trucks. It is soo much more fun to drive!
CustomBoss2019 2019 new model owner here just subbed to your channel!
@@carlosruiz9246 thanks dude!
I hate how slow my 2020 downshifts. Does it help with that at all?
After exhausting searches, final 3 were, KnN, pedal commander, and the sprint booster. I'm trying the pedal commander. 🤞🏼 hoping for no codes, and better response. Thanks for the lead.
Hint: If you watch enough vids, you can find $30 off.
Cool stuff! I’ve never heard of cold air inductions. Looks like it’s actually quality though unlike some other cold air intake companies that we all know that just give you either slightly better plastic crap or a very thin aluminum tube and a small/medium filter... Either way being a fabricator and studying to be an automotive engineer, after a little research I made my own for my 03 Silverado as a fun project and somewhat of a test and between that and a ported throttle body I surprisingly improved my no load/no trailer city/highway cruising fuel efficiency by about 1.76 MPG. Obviously not my main goal but I’m certainly happy about it! Unfortunately I don’t have a dyno yet or access to one though so I don’t know how much power it added. I know not a ton, lucky if it’s even double digits but it has to be something.
I was on the cold air inductions channel watching their video on this product. Within the first few seconds soon as I saw it was your video I stopped the video and immediately came over to your channel to warch. Rock on Bro
I'm surprised they wouldn't have to plug into the computer because of the difference in airflow now.
I've been thinking about changing my system, and yes, that sounds like a silly question, but with vehicles and computers, it wouldn't surprise me.
I've been checking out some of your videos, and you do a great job.
One correction, it actually does get more air than stock because the filter and intake are more free flowing, not only colder but more cfm's
I’m wanting to see the Monte Carlo build. Let’s make that happen. Love your channel
Monte!!!
I just installed a JLT catch can on the driver side PCV system of my 2020 Silverado but not on the passenger side yet. I’ve used JLT on my past F150s and have been pretty impressed.
Got love for the OG since I have a NNBS Truck myself
I am running Air Raid CAI and a Borla Atak pretty happy with the outcome also covered the mesh resonators.. So far no drone and the CAI sounds great so much better!!! Love the videos keep them coming.
after installing CAI and catback (no lift, on my back in a much dirtier garage lol) on a couple vehicles i'm wondering how this compares to just getting the performance package from the factory. "better" is relative -- one thing i've noticed with various CAI brands over the years is it often adds more cabin noise than the exhaust since it's closer to the driver. sounds cool to me, makes my wife pissed on road trips. :-D looks good, sounds good! might have missed it, but anyone doing this (or anything) be sure to check tightness of everything after the first few drives since it can loosen up from temp change and vibration.
Hey man - where's the catch can video? Would like to see what you use!
I think an 81-87 Chevy/GMC C10 would be a beautiful addition. I’d love to see your how-to videos on a Holley EFI swap or body work for a classic
Just installed my new cold air inductions on my 2020 6.2 trail boss! Excited to take it for a spin now.
Will something like this void the warranty?
I put a cold intake on my 2007 Silverado. 2 weeks later. I was traveling down a road and it just stop raining. I could see water crossing over the road way. The water was about less than a quarter thickness. When I crossed over the water area, my engine shut off. Rolled to a stop, I tried to start my engine. It would start. engine made a bump sound while trying to start..Called a friend of mine that's a mechanic. Friend told me that I had a hydro lock. My reply " what's that"? . It's when your engine sucked the water into the intake of the engine. Engine unable to compress water, snapping the engine rods out the side of engine.....now, was air intake in a box? Nope. If it was then that would take away of getting as much air into cold intake. Take this lesson from me. DONT PUT A COLD AIR INTAKE ON YOU VEHICLE'S!!! PERIOD!!!

@@toniohernandez8443 yes. Best not to make most mods like this. We can dig though your history and find them even if you remove them prior to taking them to the shop. Most of the time it's not even that difficult. CAI's don't do much anyhow....certainly not worth the risk. But hey, it's your dime....
Just installed my CAI from Cold Air Inductions on my Trail Boss thanks to this video!! Thanks for this!!

Great video . The background in your neighborhood looks a lot like where I live in Lubbock Texas, flat no trees
LOL, I lived in Abilene for 5 years and I think all of west Texas looks the same. lol,

Sweet. I may have to get one of those. I went with flowmaster super10 muffler and it sounds pretty good.
Get a High Performance M.A.F. it helps out to. Have one on my 2014.
Long time sub here (since about 3k or so). Please do not get rid of a car that you love, just because the views aren't kicking off with it. BUT if you want to get another car that YOU actually like and enjoy- that also gets engagement... that is fine too
Put a CAI System in my 6.2 Midnight Edition TB with a Pedal Commander. Wasn’t satisfied with CAI and slammed on a K&N. Not that CAI didn’t perform, it did I’m just a K&N Fool. Borla moved in. Now I’ll pick up some Hookers and Whipple
Thanks for the video. Just ordered on for my 2021 Trailboss 6.2
Check out Stillen cold air intake scoop. I get mine next week! They have a RUclips video on it.
Incredible motivation man lol, this is the second video I've watched now . Definitely the motivation I'm subscribed now and going to be checking out your videos.

@@HOMER122767 thanks boss . Should also fix your splash gruad protection system you should never have water that high to reach your air intake filter buy water simply splashing up unless it was flooded water levels.... or put a snorkel on the side. Lol.
@@robertkeenbuildingmylifesh3429 when I say, the water that was crossing the road was less then a thickness of a dime. I mean a dime. That's scary when it come to a chance of damaging a engine, mined, the air take wasnt in a low position. Thankfully my insurance handled it. Gave me a brand new engine. No questions asked by the insurance company. Brand new engine. 3 yrs warranty with a rebuilt transmission. I wont be buying a new truck for a long time. Especially the cost of the trucks
I put a JLT catch can on my Jimmy 5.3 bit that's on driver side only. I haven't seen passenger side catch cans, at least not ones that were designed specifically for that engine... Of course you can do a DIY, or at least change the PCV pipe configuration to fit passenger side... Though I've heard that the passenger side is not the worst offender... The one you gotta worry about is the driver side because it goes directly into the head, at least the passenger side plugs into the stock intake so it had to go through the intake before it goes into the throttle body... With a custom CAI, might have to put one on passenger side as well.
Ordered mine and finally came in today...well I thought it did. Turned out to be just a cardboard box with bubble wrap in it. So that's fun...
Reached out to the company told them they definitely gotta check you out great advertising for them good work 👍
mane i just threw a high flow air filter in the stock box which is already set up like a ram air style system so your probly gain like 2hp to 5hp from that new intake ,
ZL1 or SS 1LE! Looked at CAI for my truck however S&B was more competitively priced so I went with them, definitely like having the enclosure.
Check out the trupower by stillen cold air intake scoop to go with that cold air inductions intake
I can't wait to get a Trail Boss. As soon as my 2015 Silverado is paid off Ima make the upgrade. That truck is so tuff.
Don't do it. I'm trading my trailboss. The 5th gen silverado is trash.
@@tonylewis1771 explain? Why is it trash? And also what type of trail boss do you have? 5.3 with the 10 speed, 5.3 with the 6 speed, or 6.2 with the 10 speed?
and also what year is it?
If you love that Intake noise, then you HAVE TO install a throttle body spacer! The whistle combined with the “woosh” or suction noice from the CAI is very addicting. Not to mention the slight gains in power and efficiency. 🤙🏻
you can’t be serious right? you believe that 😂😂
@@bigbeef8935 for sure, nothing drastic, but definitely slight gains as I mentioned. Noticed it right away on mine.
Bro I’m cheesing over my brand new 2021 Trail Boss cuz it’s literally my first ever new truck and my first ever truck at that 😁😁😁
You and me buddy
My favorite mod I've done to my 2020 Trail Boss is peel off those ugly Trail Boss stickers. Both your trucks look great!
That’s one of the reasons I love my trail boss. The ugly ass stickers. But I also love the old renegade stickers on Jeep CJs, the trans am fire chicken, and old 80’s ugly stickers. I guess the trail boss reminds me of the ugly 80’s stickers growing up 😂
I know you said you always read these comments, so with that said! My favorite vehicle is still the OG silverado! Great videos man and always look forward to them! 👍🏻
So much love for the OG 💪🏽
JLT performance has a good catch can. I like it and was easy to install.
manual Camaro🤷🏽♂️🔥 you would have a clean GM line up
I was thinking if he’s keeping it Chevy might aswell go with a camaro
It sure saves a lot of time working from home and gas money …btw what do you do for a living ? Great video keep it up.
I have the CAI intake on my 2011 Silverado. The sound is so addictive. I didn't notice the mpg gain for a week lol
Nicely done and very well explained vid. Got my CAI intake on order, hopefully it'll get shipped soon.
I have the same CAI on my 2019 trail boss, just uploaded a 1 year later review on it.
🤙🏽
Does cai void any warranty?
Matthew Hand I’ve had them on two trucks under warranty, never had a problem bringing them in service. you can also just call the service Dept as a random caller and ask at your dealership.
JLT is $150 on AmericanTrucks. Get me one too for my 08. Thanks boo ❤️
Does your trail boss have lights on the sun visors when you open them? If not, do you know if there is a way to put one in that looks factory-ish? May be a good idea since there is nothing out there on this topic that I have found. Awesome channel.. keep it up brother!
I feel your excitement awesome job. Just sold me on exhaust and cold air intake thanks.
Finally got my 6.2 back.8 weeks to the day.RST non Trailboss.Bad valve body, stuck on/open solenoid.Had to wait for a redesigned component.Time will tell....
No fun...

I have the black on black.Only options it does not have is the z71,moonroof,and trailer vanish camera.Kind of a small run.Ive only seen 3 like mine in my state so far.Im thinking carbon fiber hood w ram scoops, carbon fiber grill insert would be sick.Going to get dark blue rim accents and chassis, brake pads etc.Interior getting rid of the fake wood, going carbon fiber and blue led accents.
I put an AFE cold air intake on mine and I get better mileage now.
Same. I was getting like 12mpg on my 19 gmc Denali 6.2, I put the momentum GT from AFE on it and I’m getting 17-18mpg now and sounds and feels better too
You must live pretty close to me. Looks like you drove by our neighborhood in this video. Nice video too!
JLT performance! they have some good ones for these trucks.
Super clean truck brother🤙🏻
I love your videos...You could explain paint drying and it'd be interesting as hell LOL. When I get me 2020 Sierra Denali I'm def upgrading the exhaust thanks to you.
Question for you after you did the cold air intake and the exhaust did you do anything to the computer system or did those two things affect the computer system at all?
done this a few times, and with just CAI + exhaust you can just run stock tune (giving it time to relearn for max gains, after the battery disconnect) or do a simple over the counter "performance tune" from reputable tuners if you burn high test.
JLT catch cans are nice. Just the right size
Any Check Engine Lights or need for Chevrolet Tune after install?
I'm also curious. Any word?
I've heard it throws zero codes.
It won’t throw any codes unless you do not have the MAF sensor plugged in correctly. They have these things tuned really well now to work with OEM CPUs. They had to get with the program because the 2019 and above Chevys have 14 CPUs (computers)
U should do twin pipes black ones coming out of those exhaust pipe thingys
I own a Ford f150 and test drove a Chevy on Sat. The Chevy was a lot quieter.
Better get a catch can on that direct injection motor....JLT Catch can kit has factory style quick connections
Did you happen to look into the warranty in terms of making these mods to the truck? I'd love to add a cold air intake to my 2020 Trail Boss but I'm concerned that the dealer will void my warranty if I make those mods. My son was just told by Honda that they won't cover an issue in his Civic SI because he added a custom blow off valve. Just curious what you think or what you have researched. Keep up the great videos!
Dnt try it
thats why you get one that can be interchangeable in case something goes wrong. swap the oem back and nothing happened
You need an oil catch can! Saves these di motors!
Get a Chevy SS (manual)... throw a LSA on it. I miss my SS. Went to a Jeep SRT -- got totaled about a month ago... so now in a 6.2 AT4. (i'm in McKinney/Princeton BTW)
You need to try a throttle body spacer. If anything it will give you more mpg.
Awesome bud! I have the KnN, and borla s-type. Im curious about your shift patterns at cruising speed. Mine is awesome if i stay heavy on the pedal, but i get "dead pedal" at cruising. When i want to GO it downshifts 2 gears then im gone, but not what im trying to do. Want a tuner, but we know they can't seem to crack the code. Although AEV, and Hennessy seem to know how. Also my mpg went down with both mods at first, then computer figured it out. 96 miles a day during work week some expressway, and I average 19.5mpg. Nice Truck!
Sorry mine is a 2019 Custom Trail Boss, 5.3 new gen. Like yours, KnN CAI, Borla S-type. Mines on 22's, Really like the 18's. I might swap those out little wider, maybe taller tire?
O, another major question. 6 speed or 8? Not sure if 10 is available yet for these?
Also the other reason the cold air kit works is its not as restrictive as the factory
Love the video bro, great info... I just purchased a 2021 tahoe premier and there is nothing on the market yet for it. Maybe after the new year they will have some cold air intakes for me. Muffler delete is already done. I look forward to your next video on that Trail Boss.
Bro check out America trucks.com and get a throttle body spacer for the OG. Since you have the K&N the throttle body spacer will be great. I have one on my 11 Silverado
I think a 2021 corvette would look dope in your garage lol
Speed engineering has catch cans an priced right 🤙
Sorry neighbors....... "" Keeps reving engine "" 😆 🤣 😂
Just purchased the same truck love the look and feel of this new trail boss. Just curious as to what exhaust you installed? Love the sound with that combo you have going. Thanks for the video
I agree you need a matching ZL1
U should do more vids on the charger and put more horsepower:)
Sick videos man keep them coming aloha from cen- cal
The stock CAIs are already extremely efficient
You enjoy in al that tings. I like look at your's video's. I am from europe and I have Chevrolet ltz 😁
you live in the Panhandle? when you were driving around it looked like it lol. Awesome vids man keep it up!
Great video but I’m a firm believer that the engineers for all Vehicles have designed the air boxes to be very well effecient. Cold air intakes are just expensive noise makers in my opinion.
Until dyno numbers tell you different
What about the CAI made by the same engineers? Check out accessories.chevrolet.com
We talked about this. And didn’t we decide on a Monte Carlo? Let’s do that shit. By the way. Dope content

JLT Performance makes one for the new body style runs about $150
