It's the curse of becoming big in music. These kinds of shows are impossible now not because they're any different, but because for the most part, they're not even allowed to play independent venues. Too many people would show up. Too much chaos. Sucks, but it's not their fault.
Keep in mind that this was a 6 night event at the Troubadour and Rise Against was headlining all of them. This was right before Sufferer when Rise Against were starting to get big. They also can't do these shows anymore because they don't play these songs or have the same creativity as they used to. In 2009, Rise Against sold out the Metro in Chicago and played all of The Unraveling and Revolutions Per Minute. I'd much rather see them play their Fat Wreck Chords songs now. They've abandoned them since they got big because the songs weren't as marketable as their radio hits
I'm a fan of their older music and newer music but god, I think everyone has to admit their old smaller shows seemed so much more amazing along with the enthusiasm of the fans as well.
id love to see them play a show with just songs from their first two or three records. I love all of their stuff but i feel like a show with just their real hardcore/ pre-major label shit would be great

The big dispute was that in the beginning punk was a small underground movement, everyone knew everyone, not even kidding; then punk became more mainstream (More people discovered it), and this made all the underground kids pissed off beyond belief, so they did what they did best, they protested against it every second of their lives. In honesty, it's not that bad that punk went mainstream, mostly all the punk bands were happy about this, because they were getting their music out to more people

yeah i know it was the major label debut, but it was still a great cd. ive just seen them live 4 times, all just before and after appeal to reason came out so ive seen most of the songs of the recent 3 cds but not as much from the first 3. so id be pumped to get a chance to see songs from the unraveling, RPM and some of the less played siren songs like rumors, tip the scales and state of the union which ive only seen once. still love their new stuff, ive just seen most of it already
whoever hit the dislike button just doesn't like this video. it's that plain and simple. I personally think the FAT WRECK CHORDS rise against even beats the best bands like bad religion, nofx, anti-flag and the flatliners.

Exactly! I found them through guitar hero 3 playing prayer of the refugee, so about the time of Sufferer and the Witness. I know that isn't there most mainstream but the first album I bought was Appeal to Reason which is there most mainstream. Them I started to get a bit bored of it and listened to the older songs, my god I was blown away. I've been completely in love ever since!

Does anyone else remember how fucking excited they were that this show sold out? It makes me so sad watching this now, knowing that we'll never get these years back. It was good while it lasted. I haven't even listened to anything after The Sufferer And The Witness, and even though I think it's alright now, that album was their downfall. I pretend they broke up in 2007.

Punk has many gengerations. Nasdrasil knows what hes taking about, since he knows about the gengerations. But this is a form of punk. This is the punk of the year 200 onwards. It starts around 1970's yeah. Every 10 years. It changed in some waty, and this is todays version of punk. Blink was counted as punk. In the 90's btw. Im a massive fan of blink, rancid, black flag rise against all those, and i absolutly love violaters. All those are different generations of punk

although I love all Rise Against's music. I still love the aggressiveness of their early music much more than APR and End Game. I wish they could replicate it, but I think they won't because they are getting older.
I actually started with their newest album, and slowly worked my way backwards. The Unraveling was the last one I listened to. I'd say RPM and then The Unraveling are my favorites.
