What fun editing! Tbh ive always thought about playing scout, but then i got into a match with another scout on my team. We emoted each other and had a little scout moment together. The match started and i immediately died from spawn. A little bit later, i checked the leaderboard. I was second to last... but the other scout was TOP SCORING. I was amazed i told him he's such a cool scout. Ever since then, ive kept slowly trying to play scout more, usually only if our team doesn't have one. Thanks for this video, its really encouraging!
12:34 I LOOVVVE this part. This part is sooo UNDERSTATED! I'm a med main. I LOVE scouts. Theyre very useful if you have a competent one in your team. THAT extra mobility when you attach your beam to him can be the difference between me getting out alive and preserving my uber%. BUT. I hate the fact that MOST OF THE TIME. Hes a dead class. Lets be real. 85% of Valve Casual game will be Dustbowl, OR Payload. And when is the last time you see a scout SHINES on those 2 circumstances? If the enemy team has an engie with a single braincell to put a sentry its over for him. I wish people play other game modes like KOTH (should be 5 minutes for each team) and 5CP more. Its really fresh to see new classes like scout thrives on those modes instead of badwater basin for the 100th times
i mean this as a compliment about how funny you are -- you sound drunk here. this is a great, informative video, thanks! learned new stuff, reinforced a lot i already knew, and im nineteen minutes and nine seconds closer to gaining the confidence to actually boot up a game of tf2 and try to have fun. cheers
I was disappointed when I saw your subscriber count…….. disappointed that it isn’t over 1million! The quality of the video is definitely deserving of more subscribers. I will subscribe today and I may even turn on notifications. Good work and please it up!
you know, thinking on it. Why does scout count as 2 on objectives? My thought, is that since Meet The Medic is very likely set before any game or story events besides the other meet the videos, Scout counts as two because of the dove in his stomach.
best video i've seen ever, 100% recommend to those who hurt people, and not those who sun shines. but actually crazy vid loved the editing and your style
I’ve been chugging these types of videos down for a while (I’m a new player!) and honestly this has been one of the more digestible videos I’ve come across. Love the editing, really kept my attention 🫰Keep it up
A strategy I like to employ against demoknights is to use the environment to your advantage. Because they have perpetually no range, jumping on a crate or rock benefits you as a scout well. I'll just perch on a crate when there's a demoknight around, and then if they get close I'll move in a way where it's hard for them to reach me! This is an amazing video right here, you earned a sub from me!
This is a really well-put-together summary, especially with the coverage of the maps themselves, game modes, and countering. I've never had the confidence to play Scout but I'm inspired to try after this!
i think its good to mention that against Pyro whenever I notice I’m getting killed by them a lot or the team has a lot of em Mad Milk is nice just as a way to save yourself quick. You run up, gun them down, right before the afterburn gets you you put it out. If they get the jump on you, throw milk, run away. Very effective for being selfish specifically against Pyro.
Wonderful video really, you deserve more attention, however, you didn't talk about some important things on Scout and you in some sections, don't know what you are talking about, for example, you should use Scout's melee slot for damage as you said for keeping the stock bat, since he already has his primary and secondary, he will in most cases not need to use melee damage. Now another thing is being overconfident, you sometimes need to trust yourself to secure a kill and run away, and you can make that judgment based on experience, The last thing is to strafe if you want to avoid enemy fire and close the gap on the enemy. Still, a good video that covered the basic essentials on Scout, keep up the good work!
Thanks for the comment! Here's a couple notes based on your talking points. 1: your melee is always going to be a reliable source of backup damage. Everybody runs out of ammo at some point for one reason or another 2: things like confidence and such are more of a mental thing, often learned via experience. I trust folks will learn their limits naturally 3: strafing isnt too complicated, but it's a bit much to dump source spaghetti strats into a simple guide focused on the basics of a class. It's useful, but it would be suited for a video focused on more advanced strategies Thanks for the nice words!
Scout has always been appealing to me but I play almost nothing but Dustbowl so the constant sentries and super enclosed space makes it difficult to stay alive for more than 20 seconds as him, so I actually prefer defense Scout. Also nice use of Hakita/MGS music my friend 👌👌
i really like how this video is structured. I already have a general knowledge of the game, and it was still really entertaining. looking forward to more
good vid, but as a pyro main, scout is the class i have either the best or the best time dealing with. scout has good tools to position himself outside of my range and i often can't hit my shotgun shots on a good one, but if he gets in my range, he's dead in an instant. stock pistol + scattergun can kill pyro in around 2-3 seconds in mid range and you can easily put pyro in a situation when he can't do anything.
I can usually deal with heavies pretty often. Just jump around a lot and get in their face. They can't track a fast target jumping around all over the place.
big fan of this video. theres probably more to say with matchups (take high ground vs soldiers, some heavies can be countered with sporadic close range movement, etc) granted the guide is supposed to be Stupidly Simple. good video. hyped to see what you make next. WE ARE BOSTON. WE ARE LEGION.
My fav scout loaf out by far is what I call the mosquito. Baby face, guillotine, wrap assassin. Allllll the funny bleed which stacks and gives you boost from a good range (if you can hit the throws), it makes up for how easy it is to lose boost quite well. Just zoomin’ around the map- make people bleed when they are distracted- Be the annoying piece of garbage that you are destined to be!
the only times I played scout is to speed cap, or when the team did some all class tomfoolery (we all went scout on upward) Now I think I should give this speedy boi another chance
Criminally underrated video. I've been considering what classes to practice more with since I'm an Engie main, and I've been doing really good with him in my opinion. Might sink some hours into practicing with Scout in the next while.
You should use the Baby Face shotgun more. The trick is to shoot your shotgun shots from afar since you can fill your bar really fast with 1 to 2 shots that way, so youre always fast :) thats what i do. Always keep shooting even if you only do chip damage, and you have aton of ammo anyway.
I really liked this video, but a few thing: Using mad milk selfishly is actually good in scenerios where your fighting a character like soldier or demo in enclosed area since the health you get back on damage will negate thst splash damage. Also, scout is really good against soldier since you can effectivley doge their rockets and you shouldnt avoid them. Also, scout counters pyro really easily since pyro is a close range class, but scout easily out-damages him.I also find that when picking fights to take looking at the enemys your fighting in case its a 2v1 helpd a lot.Never fight a 2v1 if one of the characters is a scout, but if its 2 projectile characters,or a projectile character and a pyro, and theres good geometry (for exaple the tires in the flank on badwater last) you can usually take that fight.
this video was the tipping point to install tf2 and try it myself, though i've been watching tftubers for years like soundsmith, lazypurple, and samwiz1 as well as enjoying whatever 2fort chaos compilation i find. #fixtf2
I love playing as Scout on Brazil with the Force-Of-Nature and absolutely LAUNCHING people off the map. Its some of the most fun you can have; it’s hilarious every single time. Someone on the enemy team got so mad at me for doing it they cheated and doxxed me in the chat though, so y’know. Pros and cons.
anytime i die as scout (i only have about 47 hours ) i'm always like fuck man either this dude is using aimbot probably not or im just not dodging well enough
Well obviously I have the cruelty squad vid up next, but I have plans for a vid on amnesia the bunker, a little throwback to one of the old hello neighbor alphas, a possible video series on watch dogs 2, and of course more videos on scout. The TF2 market is actually in a pretty good spot, and by saying "Buy your shit with actual money" youre suggesting that you cant do that on MP. You absolutely can. Otherwise, great video.
@DeputyDexin I get that, and I'm no shill for 3rd party sites; I usually just buy something off of SCM if I want it. Regardless, that's not the point of the video so it's not really worth nitpicking in the first place. Like I said, still a great video.

Ten seconds in and this is exactly how I imagine scout players as I build my mini sentries.

Damn, this video really makes a man wanna slam back a couple of beers and take a Uey straight to the nearest dunks.
important to remember: to balance the power of scout, whenever you pick him, all flamethrowers get a 600% buff to range & afterburn duration

Peak non-fiction.

7:39 you should have mentioned it does more damage if it flies for at least one second.
The shortstop would be great if the devs were to reduce the damage you take from scouts so you won't get demolished by them.
