Thank you for an atmospheric video. It's nice to see beautiful places on the other side of the planet with atmospheric music. Greetings and respect from Belarus.
I loved my 97 Disco as well. It had its reliability issues but as an off road car it was the best. Made my 70 Series II A ride like a log wagon. I climbed over stone walls and forded 4' of water to win me "best off road" driver in a Land Rover sanctioned event.
Love this video. Offroading with nice view and relaxing music. It’s good when you can still hear this engine revving. Unlike other videos with loud annoying beat music. Keep it up! 💪
Love your truck!!! I am a complete Disco nut. Own a 96 5dr V8, 98 3dr V8 and a Disco 2 facelift Td5. Keep the vids coming so that I can enjoy your part in the world in one of my favorite vehicles of all times.
Oh man, a 3 door D1 is a dream rig of mine. We rarely ever see them in the US. Sounds like you’ve got a good collection, and I bet at least one of the runs at any given time!
I've never bothered with carrying a chainsaw off-road, but a few years ago I bought a fantastic folding bow saw that lives in my Disco year round. It's made by Agawa, and I just love it. Takes up no space at all!
That’s a good call. I’ve since picked up a Dewalt 60v saw, and it’s come in handy several times. But putting a bow saw in the truck at all times is a good move.
Not bad for an American, try slowing it down a little and consider using low range if you have it. Slowing down will stop you dropping as hard or beating the suspension. I'd personally avoid stumps if you can help it, unless you have the money for a diff case and/or diff. Overall nice video and trailing. Keep up the good work.
@@tfrasca Ahh, I normally use high until 1st doesn't cut it or I need extra torque for steep climbs or more control for slippery ground. Your ratio is a bit higher than I'm use to as I have a Defender 110 so that makes sense regarding being faster in low. Also you're welcome.
Yeah, plus it’s been on stock gearing with the 33” tires, so it’s way too high overall. I just ordered gears and lockers for it though, so that’ll be sorted soon.
@@tfrasca The gearing being a bit lower will be hopefully be nicer to drive in low, and lockers will be a nice addition! Supposedly rear alone makes them fully capable but I'm not at the stage of needing a rear locker yet, nor do I have the money as I need to save for a house ahaha. Hopefully once it's done and you post the videos they'll show on my YT. Lockers will make it go almost anywhere, as I'm sure you know.
@@jackfairman7371 That's my thought too. I could have done everything I want to do with a rear locker, but since I need gears, that means I'll have to open up the front final drive, and if I do that I really should upgrade the diff. Scope creep is real.
That’s actually a brilliant idea. Usually it’s just a race against the clock (childcare/babysitter) but if I ever have more time and want to clear trees, I’ll definitely bring a snatch block.
@@rogermellie8068 2" Spring lift, but I added 1" spacers for 3" total lift. These tires are getting pretty worn, and I've actually been looking at 285/75r16. Wider, obviously, but also just a tiny bit smaller in diameter.
You nearly tipped over! I'm glad you didn't You should be careful using your brakes like that. It's better to let the vehicle stall, then change to reverse and start in gear for a gentle descent.
It's an automatic, so it wouldn't have stalled. Maybe it looked worse on video, but it didn't really get close to tipping. Never say never though, I guess.
Mine has some rust that will need to be addressed eventually, too. Luckily the frames on D1s tend not to rust, mostly the body. And mine has 285k miles, still going strong!
Love to see a disco out doing it’s stuff
Likewise. It’s becoming one of my favorite things to do. Your truck looks great, by the way.
@@tfrasca thank you, I’m considering doing the front bumper cut like yours it looks smart
@@TheNorthernExplorer It was easier than I thought, and you gain a bunch of clearance for the approach angle.
Love this, the atmosphere the Landy.
Very tasteful.
Great car! I have the same car, same color, same model but engine TDI 300. I love it!
Nice! I often wish mine was a TDI. Mostly when filling the tank...

So cool Tyler… looks like a good time
Wow. I'm changing the head gaskets on my 98 discovery 1 right now, big project! I'm in central Oregon, excited to explore more of western Oregon.
I love to hear about another D1 in Oregon. It seems there are surprisingly few left, so good on you for keeping yours on (and off) the road.
@@tfrasca I also love to see it. There are tones of D2's here in CO but i only know of two dico 2's here, including mine.
Love to see this Vehicle in action

Missed my old D1 so much I bought another one, 18 years later.

What inch lift and what size tires are you running
3” lift and 255/85r16.

Did you have to do any trimming/cutting?@@tfrasca
@@joshmckennna yeah, I trimmed the rear part of all the fender arches. “Camel cuts”, if you will.

Usually around 15 psi. I've gone as low as 10, but without bead locks, I wouldn't want to go any lower.

255/85r16 BFG KM3. Great size for 33" tires that can still tuck into the fenders.
