- A short discovery of certain years in my horrible childhood, a playthrough of Fantasy World Dizzy for the Commodore 64, with commentary by me and my horrible friend Gabriel.
The company founded by the Oliver Twins is Blitz Games, not Blaze Games as I say in this video. OOPSY DAISY
Ten years ago our dynamic duo started this marvelous series. May it never be forgotten.
Hear hear!
Time to roll through again gang
I am stil subscribed, i stil have hope.
@@vvvv4341 same but I don’t have hope tbh :/ like maybe Yahtz might upload something here but I’m almost certain we’ll never have another LDO
Btw, i just found out how lifely these boards still are after al these years and there is nothing i love more right now.
11 years old and I still use this has a sleep aid. Thank you 🎉
It's a decade later and I still enjoy coming back to this channel to listen and watch my two favorite internet homosexuals
I remember a user named Based Papa would comment something along those lines every week... I've never forgotten... I'm still here... pretending time hasn't passed, twiddling my thumbs, and flicking playing cards in a subway tunnel... smacking my chops, while I fight Eddie Guerrero on the television...
Still here in mid 2024
I miss Gabe
I could listen to these until the end of time
@@bigrigjoe5130 you miss Gabe? But Gabe’s fat
This channel and the old xfm shows with Ricky, Steve and Karl are 2 things I will still be looping back to (probably) for the rest of my life. Never gets boring.
I'm going to watch these videos on a loop for the rest of my life.
grantd165 You and me both
Ditto
I just started another loop sans the Portal 2 ones. Just can't do those yet
AND I'M GOING BACK THROUGH AGAIN OH GOD HELP
I still am
Seven years later and I'm still watching these things!
lol 11 years here!
*fistbump*
Hello.
This brought a tear to my eyes. I know so many of these by memories... Going though the loop again.
@@felixap9286 me too! It really helps in January.
Just wanted to post a comment saying thank you for keeping these uploads available Yahtzee. Cheers buddy.
used to watch these several times, ahahah. never got into the "let's drown out" since I liked the commentaries to be focused on the games themselves. these are a joy still!
They sounded so happy back then...
I know, its so horrible!
They ruined there friendship by having sex, they couldn’t go back after it
This is still interesting in 2021. As a study on Yahtzee, Gabe, alcooholism and eggs.
Back back back again. Forgot about this for years until a friend mentioned something about Dizzy the Egg and I dammed near lost my mind remembering that Yahtzee did let's plays with an aggressive Australian hesitate-to-use-the-word friend..
The idea that this beautiful partnership could end breaks my heart; rewatching the innocent days, brings a tear to the eye.
+Emily Nelson What are you talking about?
gskaloyan That Yahtzee's moving to America....?
Emily Nelson oh he is? Dang I had no idea. Been a while since i had enough time to watch let's drown out. I was worried maybe they got tired of each other and split.
A fair worry. I don't think it's 100% certain, but at this point it's more likely than not. Heart breaking.
Better to have loved and lost, than never to have loved at all
rewatching for nostalgia. I remember loving this channel when I was a teen
Still using these to fall asleep in 2020
Also me
@@Nondescript_Brit one love brother
Truly the greatest lets play channel.
It's almost scary how much he knows about this game.
Still watching in 2019. I miss these videos
The best duo on the internet. I wonder where life will take them next.
I come from the future to say--more of the same. Gabriel is co-host of a gaming podcast-y Let's Play-ish duo, with scads less vitriol.
Yahtzee moved to the United States, got married, and began streams of playing games with people whilst talking over them.
Neither really recapture what we enjoyed about them. I've lost track of Yahtzee ages ago, and I look at Gabriel's side infrequently. The Yaht-'n-Gabe days were the best, and neither are really that enjoyable without the other.
They've collaborated since the split but very infrequently, doe obvious reasons.
@@Thylonicus they collaborated?? Where?
@@atom_zero5413 Assuming you mean the Yahtz-and-Gabe bits, you'll have to look at The Escapist's channel. One was, I *think*, a year and change ago? Something like that.
The best course would be to look at the Let's Drown Out subreddit. If someone hasn't asked already, you could and you'd get an answer soon enough.
@@Thylonicus Thank you :)
@@atom_zero5413 Very welcome.:)
When "TO BE BOINGTINUED" popped up and it played Vic Reeves and the Wonderstuff's 'Dizzy' it made me pine for the days in Zero Punctuation when Yahtzee used songs with relevant themes at the start and end of his videos, and not that generic rock track. Such heady days.
Happy 10 Year Anniversary to this playlist!
It's amazing to think that we used to have the patience and dedication to plow through games like Dizzy.
It's impressive that Ben could make it through this game.
I have to agree with Gabriel; when I was a child, I wouldn't have had the patience for this game.
Although...if it was the only game I owned, I probably could have made it through somehow.
Entertaining stuff Yahtzee.
Thanks.
And, once again, I begin The Pilgrimage!
"Everybody is a genius. But if you judge an egg by its ability to make real estate decisions, it will live its whole life believing that it is stupid." - Albert Eggstein
Here from Slightly Something Else. Funny that your video of this game is the first response on RUclips for it.
Hi Yahtzee I only recently stumbled upon Zero Punctuation and got completely hooked. Your intelligent and snarky commentary, and your unique voice made my ears and brain very happy.
Then I found this in recommendations which is cool
This was the start of my let's play and gameplay commentary obsession back in 2012. Yahtzee, Brainscratchcomms, Critikal, GeneralSecura and many others. Those were crazy days for me
I love this video. It eases the pain.
We will always remember
It's weird to hear Yahtzee speak slowly.
Hmm If I have normal speed he talks too slow, when I have 1.25X speed he talks too fast, we just can't win.
It's 2024, better start the LDO playlist again
"This is his friend, Denzel, who is also an egg." is such a good sentence that I can't believe it
Here we go again...
Hell yeah
rewatching the very beginning now that it's ended. Memories~
Its nice to see this getting some attention, I had a commodore 64 as a child, too. Infact this was one of the first ever games I played.
I have completed my pilgrimage to where it all began.
Here we go again, from the beginning! Perfect listening while I labor away on my game project.
W00t! More Yahtzee and Gabe!
Despite being a C-64 guy back in the day, I'd never seen this game before (and it probably would have pissed me off for all the reasons you pointed out so far).
Man, now you've got me wanting to go down to the basement and dig through all my old C-64 floppies. If I look hard enough, I think I still have on original box of, "The Hitchhiker's Guide to The Galaxy," with all the cutesey pack-ins...
Looking forward to part 2!
Never forget the discomfort! Never forget the good times! ❤️
After reading some great LDO quotes on twitter, it's time to go back to the start, friends
They'll make more some day. You'll see.....
*YOU'LL SEE....* :'(
Dizzy's definitely a booze-hound, hence his name and how accident-prone he is.
I've been watching all of these nonstop for the past week.
SOMEBODY HELP ME
It's so cute coming back to the inception of this channel
I've watched all these videos, countless times. I've never done all of them in a row, though. Might do that now. Wish me luck.
I'm in the process of doing the same. Cheers!
@@Vic2point0 - Let's be honest: We're all doing the same.
They'll do more some day...you'll see 😢
@@misterwishart Lol, right! They're just taking a really... really... really really... long break...
I miss these. Gabe too. Well. I’ll just rewatch them until global warming murders us all.
Gabe does RUclips stuff! KeepEtClassy! He and his bud Aaron do videos often!
Ah the old days long before the routine of LDO made them a bitter, fighting married couple.
Holy shit I thought this game was a fever-dream.
Feel like somebody should put together a discord for everyone to reminisce and socialize anyone missing all this.
(btw yahtz and gabe did an unlisted stream 'semi' recently of some vamp game I'm sure if you search you can find.
Please please give more specifics. I fucking need this.
I dislike both of them in modern standards but if I can hear them again my life would be completed.
I use to love this game , never completed it though. Great commentary
FILL THE VOID! FILL THE VOOOOOOOOOOOID
I read this in Dodger's voice
Planken you mean Jesse's voice from the animated co-optional about mugs?
Chocl8215 yes. I mean Him. Huh...I don't know why I wrote Dodger's...i blame it being three in the night.
2012 - I want to go back damn it.
Don't we all. I was in my final semester of college when this video released.
Gabriel keeps going off on interesting tangents and then stopping :(
Reading this 7 years later was amusing. Gabe's tangent adventures became a staple of these videos
The good old EGA graphics :)
DO MORE OF THESE 😭😭😭
Well when a female chicken and a male rooster love eachother very much and decide to have a quickie in the pond beside the nuclear facility.
Nice video. Looking forward to seeing part two.
Damn, it's been 10 years...
I do think the drug users idea was clever, it fits so well that i wonder if it was not thought of by the devs.
I wouldn't be surprised if it was intentional, because drug gags like that were really common in C64 and ZX Spectrum games back in the day. In this one racing game there's an ad for a coke knockoff whose name translates to cocaine in Spanish and in one stage of another game you can find a shrub that's clearly meant to be marijuana.
has it really been 4 years? This is one of the few videos where you can see Drunk Gab
Was he drunk? I thought he already quit by this point.
Such is the curse of a life without punctuation.
No one can tell when you've finished a sentence.
Viewer's log, Year:2021
Have returned to this wonderful content to fill the empty void after the binge year of 2020. Thankfully we defeated the robo murder hornets and realized that soap, water, and face coverings can defeat the common cold.
@Samuel Wood They did a podcast for a while called "show & tell" before they started doing these videos, when one of them floated the idea of adding a third person to be the idiot of the group, Yahtzee came up with the idea of having terrible games as the idiot of the show. It has been uploaded by some completely random RUclips user. They acknowledge that someone uploaded it in one of the Drown Out videos.
I just realized they have a dragon underneath their town...
Btw, this game got a remake in the NES released last year titled Mystery World Dizzy (2017)
Was it better?
@@ossnd5238 Haven't tried it myself. From what I can see from the gameplay on youtube. It looks nicer and it runs on a proper framerate...
@@tehfoxxy9630 Cool, I'll have to try it out
So when is someone going to start a petition to bring these guys back together?
" ReceptionThe game was given a rating of 9 out of 10 by Peter Parrish of Eurogamer.[3] The ZX Spectrum version was voted the 25th best game of all time in a special issue of Your Sinclair magazine in 2004.[4]" From Wikipedia
It'd be funny to see a Zero Punctuation review of this
+Mozata Pumishmumi It'd be fun to have a tantric experience with someone not in my family.
+Mozata Pumishmumi I imagine it'd be similar to the Duke Nukem Forever review. The good one.
+Mozata Pumishmumi I think yahtzee has said that this game will be his last ZP review ever.
he would say it is the best game ever and never do a review again
I just noticed Dizzy wears boxing gloves on the cover. Very odd.
so much more energy back then
Well, the series was called "Let's Drown Out" for a reason afterwards.
I had Dizzy for the Sega Genesis. Man, this takes me back.
It's been a long road,
To get from there to here...
Now I know why Yahtzee always uses this game as a background gag
So out of curiosity I google searched the phrase "happy flappy chappy."
Freakiest fuckin' bat ever.
Awesome. I hope part 2 is already uploading!
This let's play is 9 years old.
Oh god, that "lose a life" tune has come back to haunt me. I seem to remember certain chess pieces that plagued my nightmares.
Coming back to this nonsense and have it play on the background is nice.
wasn't expecting over 400 thousand views on a dizzy game video
...Huh. This is actually entertaining. I think this is the first Let's Play (read: NOT gameplay commentary, à la TobyGames and Yogscast) that I'm interested in continuing.
wow, that hidden cave path puzzle reminds me of the time I played pokemon and skipped getting the flash TM entirely and stumbled around through the ENTIRE CAVE OF MT.MOON (I think, might have been another) in the dark.
I don't recall particularly enjoying it, but I loved the game so much that, since I thought this was how you were supposed to do it, I kept going.
It was rock tunnel not Mt. Moon but I used to do that for a challenge. I got to the point I could get through the entire cave without flash and not hitting a wall. in retrospect I probably played it way to much......
As expected, Yahtzee still has great taste in music. That's probably the one thing that hasn't been improved upon in the newer episodes, the relevant musical interludes over the credits. Now he's just got his one theme song, bad-ass though it may be.
Love coming back to this
I do think Dizzy's later games were much better, Prince of the Yolkfolk and Crystal kingdom being highlights. Fantastic Dizzy on the Mega-Drive (genesis) was a good one too.
I can honestly say you are the person who inspired me to make videos. Its awesome, because I made 100 qwid!
I thought it was Fantastic World Of Dizzy that you called your favorite. That game actually is a plausible candidate for best game ever.
this was quiet pleasant to watch after listening to the podcast.
And people complain about fanboism now. NES vs Master System, C64 vs ZX Speccy or for the rich kids, Amiga 500 vs Atari ST were fun arguments in the playground in the 80/90's.
Either way, I fecking loved Dizzy what ever system it was on
Most of the kids at my school owned an Amstrad. There were no arguments.
Boarding school? I only ever know maybe one or two people who ever owned amstrad. But ZX speccy or C64 seemed to be the weapons of playground war in Ireland in the early 90s.
Hamer the Gamer
Lol, no. Regular council estate school :D
Amstrad wooooo. Roland on the Ropes ftw.
so this is yahtzee's channel...
huh.
I expect you'll be here every week till Yahtzee finishes it.
i came here expecting this to suck, but i'll be damned. you've pretty much got the concept down perfectly.
I like being old enough to remember this game being one of the first games I ever played.
Well I must say I never expected to see this in my updates box this morning, I had wondered if you were going on a bit of a 'troll' like some other interenet celebes have tried in the past. Though i am glad to see you are generally making an effort to make a professional Lp of this. Nice work and of course very entertaining, can't wait for part 2 and I look forward to see if you do any others. Also I have been watching you since before zero punctuation started, so may I just say good job.
"You are carrying a cute pigmy cow." - That pretty much sums up this whole game.
The troll king kidnapped them all to make a walking sentient omelette!
Oh, holy sidtunes, Batman...
I remember playing this awful time vampire as a kid. I look at this and ask myself - why?
Thanks for sharing this with us, Yahtzee.
P.S: when is the Mogworld audiobook coming? Seriously. Please. I'm happy to pay again for something I already have.
Dizzy.. transported back to my childhood
Good to hear Chrono Trigger and A Link to the Past mentioned in this LP. :)
"the guard house" screen with the hawk, spent far too long on that back in the day!
Oh god, I remember playing this when I was a kid. The memories!
Liked, Faved, Shared, Subscribed. I love LP's that tell more about the game and its history and such. :)
A good 4 years
I remember playing this game on the Amstrad CPC464 and later the Amiga 500. *Good times.
*That may be the nostalgia talking.
Closed captions makes this even funnier. No logic between what is being said and what it thinks is being said
I don't expect anybody to see this comment. But, is this videos pre recorded and are they just talking over it? Because Yahtzee says things like "this is where I fucked up" and stuff like that.
onurubu yes, it's pre-recorded
The first one that wasn't prerecorded was the Flashback remake
