    I just recently traded my father for a 74’ D100 club cab, Adverturer with a 360 under the hood that was overhauled 40k miles ago. Brand new automatic transmission with maybe 600 miles mostly original with the addition of disc brakes in the front stepside bed, four barrel carburetor, and aftermarket heads with barely and exhaust. Just need to add the MSD box, and a custom gas tank that mounts under the rear axle. I love these trucks too and mine with be with me for life.

    Nice truck man, like suspension 💡 the newer wheel set up. Just got me an 85 d150 2wd 318. Looking to slightly restomod it but keep it mostly original apart from wheels, suspension dynamics and a few other additions.

      First of all I want to say thank you very much for watching the video and your comments really upset the channel. Yes the truck has over 300K. I think the actual mileage is like 360,000 mi on it or more and however, now the engine is while it still runs pretty well. It does consume some oil and that's only getting worse as time goes on the more I drive it but also two I've noticed the more I drive it the slower and the slower it gets. So it's not as much fun to drive as it used to be used to be a lot funner to drive. But I've got something in the works that's going to correct all of those problems and make the truck a lot funner to drive. I'll give you a hint just go look at the all the videos I did on the 360 build and you will see you'll catch on all right. Thank you again have any questions feel free to ask

      Hey there, first of all thank you very much for watching the video and thank you for your comments. No, my lower control arms on my truck are not boxed but I would like to offer you something. I'd like to make a video about this and put it out there explaining a lot of this a whole lot better than what I can in the comments. Okay, thank you very much and have any further questions feel free to ask. God bless

    Does this apply to First Gen Cummins trucks also ?

    • @slantfish65sd
      @slantfish65sd  3 месяца назад

      First of all, I want to say thank you very much for watching the video and thank you for your comments. To answer your question very briefly, yes, all of these items will apply to the 3/4 and 1 ton Dodge trucks d250 and d350 now. However, I'm referring to the two-wheel drive whenever somebody says d150 d250d350 that's two-wheel drive now if we're talking four-wheel drive a lot of these same tricks work, but you have to keep in mind four-wheel drive. You got a solid axle up front so some of these ideas won't work or some of these ideas. You may not be applying to your vehicle like the sway bar however, a lot of Dodge trucks are a four-wheel drive. Came with a front sway bar but not all of them. Also, something else to keep in mind is that most likely and why I'm saying most likely is I don't have a 1-ton Dodge here to measure from. As far as the frame rail height, the half ton the frame rail is going to be not as tall. The 3/4 ton and wontons are going to be taller most likely so that will mean that those braces in the front that run from The cross member that runs underneath the radiator to the frame rails in front of the engine cross member. Those braces that I showed in the video. They will probably have to be shorter now. However, do keep in mind that I will be redoing this video. I'm not entirely happy with it. I think the videography could be a little bit better and the camera I was using was filming it backwards. So all of the images and video is flipped. That's why it looks like I have a right hand drive truck when I don't. And also too I will be making a video about making these braces so that's coming up pretty soon as well. All right? Thank you very much for watching and if you have any further questions feel free to ask

    The best mods for first gen 4x4s is an earlier model reverse rotation steering gearbox. Eliminates bump steer and is a must for lifted trucks with bigger tires. Durango mini starter motor is great too, turns over faster , saves weight and has more room if you're running headers. Ive grabbed several for 15 bucks at the wrecking yard. They bolt right up with no mods both big and small blocks.

    • @slantfish65sd
      @slantfish65sd  3 месяца назад

      Thank you for watching the video and thank you for your comments. Yeah, this video was centered around the two-wheel drive trucks and while there is some of these modifications, we'll work on either two or four-wheel drive the reverse rotation steering gear box. I've never even heard of that but there again I don't do a whole lot with four-wheel drives but sounds cool anyway. And the mini starters. Yeah that's always a great idea. You got to be careful though with some of them that that rounded piece on the nose of the starter that goes into the bell housing. Some of those are different sizes and they won't work with your bell housing. So just something to be careful about. But yes, the mini Mopar mini starter is a great idea and they are proven and saves about 7 lb

Usually forestry services usually by the four-wheel drive trucks which are w200. Anyone know of aftermarket fuel tanks for 70’s dodge trucks?

    • @slantfish65sd
      @slantfish65sd  2 месяца назад

      What's wrong with your factory fuel tank? Is it missing or is it just damaged? Or I don't know of any aftermarket fuel tanks for '70s Dodge trucks. But I will tell you this all of them that I've ever seen from the '70s from like say about 74 onward. Almost all of them are plastic and they're under the bed. I'm thinking 1974 they went and they put the fuel tank under the bed. I could be wrong on that year. It may be a little bit later. Maybe 75 or 76 but I'm thinking 74 was when they went to the fuel tank under the bed and got it out of the cab. That being said, their fuel tanks are usually plastic and they're usually pretty durable, but I don't know of any aftermarket ones. Let me know what's happened to yours. I might be able to come up with a fuel tank for you maybe?

    • @slantfish65sd
      @slantfish65sd  Год назад

      Yes, I would definitely do it. Here are some things to look for. Chris, of course you know the usual make sure it starts up. Runs drives stop starts all of that you know with little to no issue that being a 91 it's going to have the throttle body fuel injection unless somebody has changed things on it. But it is definitely worth the money. Those sort of trucks are going for about that kind of money. Some more some less really some of the prices are really just all over the place. One thing to really keep in mind though is that those trucks do use a 16-in wheel from the factory so and it's 8 lug so make sure that the tires are in good shape, The only thing I can think of that would be something to that is characteristic of those trucks if it has the interior pieces that surround the headliner. If it has a headliner and it has those interior pieces that surround the headliner and goes down and trims out the around the windows, those plastic pieces are insanely brittle. They will break very, very easy. Just insane how easy they'll break so if those are all in good shape then you know another plus if yours doesn't have them and some trucks didn't usually like the SEs or you know or what used to be known as the prospect or package those you those usually have those interior trim pieces by 91. I think they were trying to put that on a lot of the Dodge trucks be sure to also check out the steering pot coupler if it has a lot of slop in it, you'll have a lot of basically a lot of swamp in your steering. They do make kids to rebuild those and they're not hard to rebuild. There's not much to them but just something to be aware of. Also, be sure to look for any kind of cracks around the steering gear box where it attaches to the frame also my videos I have showcased the braces that I've made that keeps that frame from twisting and moving around when the steering gearbox is turned. So if you have any further questions feel free to contact me I can be reached here on my RUclips channel or you can message me on email. slantfish65sd@gmail.com

    What kind of plows will mount up to an 84 ramcharger

    • @slantfish65sd
      @slantfish65sd  Год назад +1

      Okay, thank you very much for watching. I very much appreciate you your question of what snow plows will fit your ram charger. You're not really giving me much information about your ramcharger and honestly, I'm not really the best person to answer that question. Your best bet is going to be somebody who lives in a more northerly climate. I live in East Tennessee and we just don't get much in the way of very bad winter weather. Honestly we can go an entire winter and get maybe 6 in total. Accumulation so it's pretty rare. It's a really really rare to see somebody with a plow mounted to any truck regardless, so I do apologize I can't really answer your question. This sounds like more of a question that needs to be answered by either somebody who lives in a more northerly climate or probably doing hey Google or Bing search and see what comes up. Maybe even talk to some snow plow manufacturers and see what they have. I mean I can recommend that if you do use a snow plow. Make sure that your front suspension is up to par. It's up to snuff. There's no like weak springs or anything like that or anything that's cracked, worn out or broken. And also make sure and get a plow that fits your vehicle specifically. I hope this helps. Again, sorry I can't really answer your question but I just don't live where we use snow plows. We just never get that much in the way of snow. Even if we get 6 in of snow in a year or 80 inches or whatever. It usually is gone within a day. Maybe two melt away

      Sorry for the late reply btw , 1987 5.2 318 auto trans
      When i bought i found out it sat for some years , it drove fine the first day , then would stall out . Encountered no start like what ive heard for these trucks when they sat for a while and had a mechanic change the starter , it then cranked up fine while driving home again , right after getting gas it stalled out at the light .
      Brought it to a shop and they thought that might be either the starter relay , so that was replaced . then i encountered the "crank but no start" , so they put on a new distributor , and a new coil . still no change .
      I since then pulled it from the shop or shops in general as when i got it moved to another that could check it they seemingly held it for a week or 2 before asking me if I would sale it (that happened twice in a row) Ended up dropping the tank and found nothing wrong with gas delivery(changed the pump as well). Have changed the spark plugs due to the others looking worn .
      I see that it could have something to do with the ballast resistor , that sits next to the coil , but some forums says the 87 with a computer doesnt have a ballast resistor .
      Hope this helps

As for the braces that are in the front or the frame of my d150, I will make a video about that showing a little more detail about them and show him how to do it. It's really, really simple. They're not very hard to do. Probably what I'm going to do is just show the braces in greater detail and talk more about how to do that at home with just like a drill and a grinder and maybe a hacksaw or an angle grinder with a cut off wheel and I may do a video series showing how to do that. I will be working on an 83 d1150 and getting it going and getting it on the drag strip. So I thank you very much and if you have any further questions feel free to ask
