I'm an immigrant myself (in the UK) and honestly I hate when people make it out like that means you can't complain about the country. Every minute I work, every item I buy, ever bill I pay goes directly into the country. I'm getting a better deal than if I were at home but I'm not a leach, the country benefits from my sheer presence, like everyone else who lives, eats, breaths and shits here. I live in this country and sometimes experience negative things, just because I wasn't born here doesn't mean I have zero right to bring issues to light. I'm just as entitled to live a good comfortable life as anyone else in this country.

He literally wasn't. He never even said if the abuse was related to his son being of Hispanic descent, it was only about bringing to light the bullying he was enduring.
And if it was about that? That's not complaining about being in America. Bullying is common in all schools and bullies will always seek out even menial reasons to pick on someone. Complaining about bullying is not complaining about the country they live in, it's about pointing out a very real problem at their school.

Common decency and respect for one another can go a long way. The dad who was standing and laughed at the remark did the right thing. He was very carefree and didn't become angry. Better to focus on the issues that are harming the school, so they can be resolved soon.

And he’s right. I attend that school, the racism that happens there is disgusting. When I was a freshman, I walked into school and a guy was wearing a confederate flag hoodie proudly. To my knowledge the only thing that happened to him is that he was told to take it off because it happened multiple times.

@@maritjohnson I went to a catholic school in one of the most liberal cities. I remember during lunch the white jocks had they're own table. While every other table was mixed with all colors. I sat with the skaters which was thee most diverse table in my school. We really need to work on ourselves.
