Oh I love this man. I fell in love with all the actors. My childhood was horrific....and when I watch The Waltons, it calms my spirit. God bless you.
As a kid,, I always wished my family was like the Waltons.
He’s in no other love & it’s a pretty good movie it’s on tubi
@@karendegraaf1146 I still do with 54 years. He still has the voice of John Boy ❤️❤️❤️
The reason I’m watching it now. It calms me

I don't care what anybody says. There is not one TV series that has touched my heart as much as The Waltons. I'm 71 years old and have watched them all of my life. I still watch them today. I miss you, Richard Thomas, in all of the latter episodes. It just wasn't the same when you left.
Yes, I had a problem when he left as well. When many of the main characters left I hate it....I have watched it once all the way through. But I love when all the family live under the same roof....
Richard Thomas is a great actor; his talent was so apparent even 50 years ago on The Waltons.
I loved the Waltons growing up and I still love it. I watch it every day. There are no quality shows like this anymore that the whole family cam watch. They need to bring back this kind of show.
I totally agree.
I have them taped. I consider them soul medicine!
people that have met him, like at bookstores in New York, say he is the nicest person.
Glad to hear Richard still has that great connection with Michael Learnard. "Mama"
Richard you still look great!!!!
When they replaced Richard Thomas
with the other guy in season eight and nine
It was like invasion of the body snatchers
there was no spark
Thomas owned that role
I always wished they never did that. Especially because they did a few reunion movies and John Boy was played by Richard Thomas again. Weird.
I totally agree, it just didn't work on any level!
The Walton’s was one of the best shows on television. I loved the characters of each one. Grandpa was my favorite.
There were others
like
Eight Is Enough
Family Affair
Family
etc
@@QueenAnitaSoul and I liked them all growing up.
They can remake the Walton's as many times as they want but there will never be another John Boy other than Richard Thomas. He left an indelible mark on that character & portrayed him with such depth and sensitivity. He can't be replaced.
I started watching The Walton's in April of 2022 season 1 for my first watching the show im now it june 2022 im just started season 4. I love this show so far.
Waltons, grew up watching it. I always wanted to go live on Waltons mountain. I love all of them. I still watch it the original Waltons. Richard you are the only John boy. 👍❤
Still my favorite show , watch it every day! They were all great actors! Although, definitely missed Richard Thomas at the time he left the show.
Yep, this is our household’s peaceful time each evening, just as it was when I was watching The Waltons as a high school student in the 1970s. Thank you to all of you.😀
As far as I'm concerned there's no other John boy But you Richard ❤❤❤
Richard, you'll always be my John Boy! What a lovely interview! Thank you!
I don't know what i would do without you. I have some of the d vd.s not all I took care of elderly people all my life. Now I'm 68 and disabled I lifted to many people . Now in pain all the time with my back and I get as its not much so i can't get them all but i keep watching the ones I have over and over.u are like my family.u keep me sane .I wish I grew in a loving family
I hope you're doing better today. Thank you for helping others. Greetings from Pennsylvania.
@@JB-ug5mf I'm trying to get one of the shows u made on my phone can't get it
@@irenelundell3285 Hello. What do you mean the shows I made? I have a lot of saved videos that I've watched and enjoyed on youtube but I don't make any videos myself.
Love the Waltons. Best group of people ever.
Wonderful actor.
the book burning episode still brings me to tears
I agree. "The Firestorm" is a very moving episode.
I hope you're doing well today. Greetings from Pennsylvania, US.
During the nineties, I was going into this book store in Glendale. This guy waited and held the door open for me.
I didn’t realize who he was as I entered and then thought? John boy!
Wow, no kidding?!?!
Very nice encounter with him. It puts a smile to your face when you meet someone you admire even if it's only briefly especially in a regular way in every day life.
Have a good day!
The narrations were fantastic especially the accent. The Waltons will always be my favorite. It was so realistic to me
Richard Thomas and Judy Norton, who were the among the main characters on "The Walton," are the only actors that I have not met. All of these wonderful actors are just down-to-earth individuals. I love this show. Bought the entire series and movies and watch them over and over. The show just made it appear that anyone could just drive up the dirt road to Walton's Mountain, stop, knock on the door, and have a cup of coffee and cake with Olivia and Grandma.
Yes!! It always felt inviting ❤️
That is so true. No matter what your intentions were walking up that dirt road whether good or bad they seemed to turn even the bad intentions into something good at the end of the day.

I met Richard in 2017 down in Schuyler, VA. He was so nice. My John-Boy always!
I love all the Walton characters but John boy and Mary Ellen were my bright spots
Literally am watching the Waltons on MeTV at this moment🤗
In the intervening years, since the show went off the air, I learned that I'm a distant cousin of the Hamner family of Schuyler, Virginia. Now, when I watch the show, I have a new appreciation for our common ancestry. Earl was a Facebook friend and one of the finest examples of a Virginia Gentleman.
Richard Thomas, I will always love you. Such amazing talent. Can't wait to see you in To Kill a Mockingbird. Keep on keeping on!!
Wow! He looks great. I never missed an episode, I loved John boy😍
By the way, John you look amazing. I could recognize that voice anywhere?? Love ya John.❤
I love ❤️ some Richard Thomas 😍.
I am 62 and only now discovered The Waltons. Have been binge watching, from S1E1. Lovely to watch something with substance in this crazy times. And of course have developed such a crush on John Boy!! Be well Richard Thomas. Thank you for what you do.
The Homecoming: A Christmas Story will always be my favorite Christmas movie. It set the tone for the entire series. My hubby and I continue to watch The Waltons on Hallmark most every day. Wonderful characters, great stories during hard times being tempered by familial love and community strength.
One of the best memories for me was the Martha Corrine role played by Beulah Bondi. I love the "It's a Wonderful Life" connection with her and Ellen Corby both being in that incredible film. I can't wait for any future iterations of the show. I hope it's thoughtfully done and takes into account Mr Hamner's vision.
L O V E Beulah Bondi!
Favorite role: The kind woman who runs the orphanage in the Cary Grant movie, "Penny Seranade".
" She's like NO other child ...." ☺️🙏💖✨
I swear this man doesn't age, he doesn't look like a man who is 71.
Hey!.....Actually, the only thing that gives away his age is his old, wrinkly turkey neck...
He still has his mojo
@@Luvie1980 that he does
i love him he's my favorite actor
Still thinking about Richard's performance this past Sunday in To Kill A Mockingbird. Absolutely brilliant. Richard's humanity and warmth shines in everything he does.
@Louann ~ well said and very true!
I’m going to see it this week. Can’t wait.
Love the Waltons! I've been hooked on watching the reruns, and I'm at the end when John Boy isn't in it(missing him)...wish they were on earlier too!
So great to see Richard Thomas, a wonderful actor!! Always enjoyed his work!🤩
I still watch it every day. Loved it then and love it now. And love YOU, Richard Thomas. I might even take another trip to Skyler (the real Walton's hometown) this summer. Thanks for keeping the story of this show alive.
I love Richard Thomas. Great actor.
It’s good to see Richard
So nice to see Richard Thomas. I loved his character, as John boy Walton, on the show. Richard being cast as, John boy, was epic. Earl Hammer, had a great eye, for Talent. No one could have played his character better than he did. When Richard left the show I, literally cried. The epic scene, with Richard Ralph Michael and Will, on the porch, when he was leaving the show, is one for the history books. It was so sad. I loved that scene between them all on the porch. A absolutely, wonderful actor. His performance on the Walton's, was Outstanding. Great interview. 💜
It's so great to see John again.
I love the Waltons, and John was a fantastic actor. You know I still watch it every day. I can't get enough of it..I loved all the characters. It was so believable.
Like the family I never had, but wished I did. Would have loved to be part of Earl Hamner's family.❤
Can't believe how good Richard looks..and that voice brings back memories of my old childhood..I loved the character of John Boy great to see him and hear him again
Thankyou for this interview.Wow cant believe it has been 50 years since the original Homecoming was screened.Grew up with with the Waltons .. and to this date i am still 5 years younger than Johnboy and same age as Jason. My favourite episodes were "the Journey" with Linda Watkins ,Homecoming (original) and Love Story... now i have the dvds watch the Waltons episodes over again .. Frances Buckley (Australia)
Same here in Austria
Thanks for doing this interview Tony; wonderful questions and insightful. We love you Richard; your past, your present, and I'm sure, your future.
We need shows like The Waltons today. So glad they are still running today...MeTv and Hallmark.
Hey Richard. Nice to see you
what a wonderful treat to see this interview with Richard Thomas. He is a wonderful and talented actor who has brought such joy to the screen. I am interested in seeing the remake of the Waltons but will always feel there is nothing like the original. I own every DVD of every Waltons show even the specials. My all-time favorite series
Richard is so on point with his views & insights. I grew up watching the show at age 7 & now have even more respect for it as an adult. Glad to see it's being revived!
I was always in love with John Boy! This past year, I went back to watching the re-runs daily and they’ve certainly kept me sane and happy, I hope those times come back when life was simple! 💖🙏🏼💖
I am such a fan of Richard. Maybe because we are close in age. ( I am 1 1/2 years older). I just love your acting. I watch the Waltons over and over.
I liked very much watching the Waltons, and I still do. I was a young teen watching the original shows and now I’m in my grandma stage of life. It’s still very meaningful to watch!!! I’ve always wondered if Richard was a writer in real life because he played that role so well on the Waltons.
I still watch the Walton until this very day. I love each an everyone them. I know they are just actors, an actress, but they made you feel like they were a true, family. I just loved the grandma, the grandad, mother, father children, eve the Godseys, so many fun an loving memories, John boy was my favorite.🤷♀️
I've been watching the re-runs for weeks! I love this show. Takes me back to my childhood
My favorite episode was The Love Story, John boy's first love.
❤️ 😍 Richard Thomas
Oho ooo wow Richard Thomas of the Waltons! Love watching this show, great Actor & Actress, family show, thank you so much for sharing this interview Richard! From Canada 🇨🇦 NB. Bless you! 👏👏👏🙏💜💜🇨🇦💜💜👍👍👍
Have been watching the series all over again on Hulu. Very few good shows nowadays. Love the Waltons, all the characters. 😍
I was in love with John boy. He is such an amazing actor. When you left it was never the same. I love the Walton's to this day and watch it all the time.
The Walton's is part of my family forever.💚💚💚💚
When I see Richard Thomas I always think of John Boy and also Bill Denborough from IT.
Oh boy, driving in NY..nightmare! You are so awesome! Love everything you are ever in and so great in interviews!
I still watch the Waltons, available on Prime.
Cool. I love The Walton.
I watch The Waltons every day on METV at noon, Monday-Friday.

CONNECTION. family, community, reconciliation, unity, LOVE.
More needed today than ever.✨🙏✨
Someone said he's 71 years old. He can't be that age. I loved John Boy. He was my older man. I loved his spit fighter acting he stood for what he believed then.
this man is so lovely and talented and multi-faceted - I wish he would adopt me haha :)
Richard was outstanding in Ozark ..The Waltons was never as good after he left the show.
It was not the same for sure. Especially lost when Ralph Waite left.
Hey!.......Agree, was horrible after he departed.....
We grew up in a small home and my mom was in love with the house. In the episode when the house burnt down she was devistated. It was a good down to earth tv show. Looks like we've done the full circle and life is going back to the simple ways of life..
A lovely interview. Thank you for sharing! (I didn't realize the artist themselves selects the episode for their Emmy consideration by the Television Academy.)
He's a killer Puck, too.
Lol .... silly funny
I love the show, watch it now on TV reruns and have the videos for a time when it will not show again. I too had a horrible childhood, and wished I could have experienced such love this family had, and still has. I was disappointed about how they pronounce the town Schuyler, as a family from this origin, it should be pronounce Shoe-ler, not Sky-ler, so I wonder how this pronounciation came about.I watch and cry many many times as I watch this show daily. Thank you for being part of it, and giving you talent and personality to the character. Much love to all the people involved in making this available to all of us.
Thanks for this lovely interview! 🧡💐
That’s my John-Boy!
Love the Walton's!!! Goodnight Johnboy
The book burning episode would be more controversial today then it was when it aired in the 70s.
I had the biggest crush on John Boy
Well, Richard you certainly do not L👀K like you did on Ozark! 😂 I have had a crush on you and your dad forever! 🥰
Love RT!
R.T ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Richard has great energy. He doesn't look anywhere near 50 years older than his 21 year old self when he started the Waltons series in 1972.
Mr. T looks incredible.
I love the Waltons, love all the cast Grandpa, Grandma, John, Olivia, John Boy, Jason, Mary Ellen, Erin, Ben, Jim Bob and Elizabeth. But my favorites is John Boy and Elizabeth 😊
He was great in Barefoot in the Park.
❤🙏
How I'd love to spend. 1 mouth with u all
The Walton’s , the best ever. Like the golden girls, can’t do it again, we loved everyone. Who hasn’t said good night to their family and everyone in our family pretended they had a john boy. .i know you will be great as addison
Earl Hamner Jr. wrote 8 really good epsisodes of the Twilight Zone.
I never knew that!
@@kittenkorleone2918 Falcon's Crest too!
How about the Waltons on Broadway?
I love Richard Thomas. My favorite tv show was and always will be the Waltons. One of my other favorites was the movie “The Christmas Box” with Maureen O’Hara. I am sorry to say that I cannot open my mind to a new version of “The Waltons”. This is possibly due to endearing feelings I have for all the original cast. I hope they have success in making this new version. Just not for me.
nice brows, j b.
Lucky is not an issue in life just as there is no coincidence in life or in Thanksgiving...
He’s a vampire…must be??? Doesn’t seem to age 😮
There have been great tv shows, Breaking Bad and Mad Men have got close. Nothing approaches The Waltons series. Won`t work today sadly.
How about the old movie where he stalks brooke shields-thats a creepy one🫣
He has acted in several scary films! Another is Death in Small Doses! He's a scary villain for sure! Great actor and kind person!🧡
Richard Earl Thomas debe ser sentenciado por ningún motivo debe ser liberado
I wasn’t impressed with the New Remake Homecoming .. Sadly lives up to how Most Remakes are NEVER AS GOOD AS THE ORIGINALS..!!!
I more or less lost interest in the show when he and Michael Learned left. New film ? Are they doing a new Waltons movie ?
hate to say this, but why would anyone want to re do the Waltons when you can just watch the old ones...new faces playing old characters won't make it...why not do something new and different....
