My wife and I watched this every year from the first time it was broadcast. Always moved us deeply. She died in September, 2010, leaving the upcoming holidays something to dread. I eventually remarried, but that ended in 2018. I moved back into my house with my adult daughter. Her boyfriend lived with us, sleeping on the couch. In September 2019, my daughter died 2 days before her 30th birthday. I haven’t watched this movie since my wife died, so it must have been 2009. I may watch it tomorrow…♥️.
Dear Jim, Blessed, Merrry , Christmas, just because it may be the New Year, 2022; it is s till Christmas in my Faith. Being all the way to Feb. 3rd. Something prompted me yesterday, to look up this movie, & watch it on Utube. Your story of your wife, & daughter touch my heart. I am so sorry, for the loss of your wife & your daughter. I hope that you will be up to watching watching it once again. It is bittersweet,to be sure, but has so much love in it.👼❄ Thank you for sharing your feelings. Jeanine FaIth Marie Fitzpatrick-Lewakowski
@@jeaninemarielewakowski5974 I did watch it. It was truly bittersweet, especially since I now relate to “Mary”. It is the best Christmas movie, in my opinion. Thank you. I have some friends in Ukraine and they are Orthodox Christian and celebrate Christmas on January 7th. I prefer their traditions because they exchange gifts on New Year’s Day. So New Year’s Eve and day are very festive, secular celebrations, while Christmas is reserved to celebrate the birth of Christ. I attend a Pentecostal church, and though these are my own opinions, my church is why I prefer to keep the focus on Christ and not materialistic gifts to loved ones. I think if there is a tradition of giving gifts on Christmas, we should give to homeless people and people living in poverty. Not buy expensive electronic “toys” for people we could buy for any day of the year. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year
Hi Jim, this is December 3, 2022. I hope you are still here in good spirit and getting ready for another Christmas season. I just found this movie again tonight, I watched it last year for the first time. It is so touching! Wishing you a merry Christmas and be well and happy! Chantelle from California
If you want to see the previous story of this one search on RUclips and type "Timepiece". That is the story of Mary (the old lady), how she met her husband... and how she left her house to this family. It is a beautiful story that gives you the whole picture that is connected to " The Christmas box".
I read this book 10 years ago after a family member made a choice, that caused me to be homeless...that year I came across the book and was overwhelmed with the spirit of healing and in the following April's general conference, I was blessed with the spirit of forgiveness. So grateful for the blessings of this book and Our Heavenly Father and His Son, Jesus Christ.
The Evans family lived across the street from us when Rick was writing this book. Their daughter Jenna is the same age as our daughter and one of our daughter's good friends. It was a wonderful opportunity to be a part of this story and participate in dedicating the Christmas Box Angel in the cemetery not far from here. The actors portrayed the sweetness and tenderness of this story and the family well. Love this!
Did you get the pleasure of meeting them all? Maureen O'Hara is my favorite Actress with John Wayne. I love those two together. Thank you for sharing this 🙏🏼 Blessings!
Beautiful story about the true meaning of Christmas! Ms Maureen O'Hara is outstanding as always! She was a special lady, a true professional at her trade with quality sincere performances that will remain in our hearts forever.

Maureen O'Hara was approx. 75 years young when this was filmed and she looked beautiful! This is a wonderful and very poignant story about life, loss and love. So glad I found it ❤ Have some tissues nearby.
Maureen O'Hara was such a Elegant, Beautiful Woman and my Beautiful Mother died recently after being diagnosed with terminal cancer and She died 2 weeks later. I am so glad that My Mother didn't suffer. God Bless Everyone. 🤗❤️
How I could have missed this precious jewel in all these years, I will never know. Perhaps it's just my religious training, but I knew full well that the first gift of Christmas was a Child. This film should be seen repeatedly! Thanks so much for the post.
I have always loved all of Maureen O'Hara's movies & I grew up watching Waltons Mountain. This was a beautiful movie, I know I will watch it again. It reminds me that we are only here for so long & we must not take for granted our loved one's.
That was really good! I was about 10 minutes in before I realized, oh wow that’s Maureen O’Hare! I’m used to seeing her in old b&w movies when she was in her 20s. Still beautiful. Still classy and feisty. Love her.
This is one of my favorite movies, and i will watch it again, and again. I have it onVHS but watched it tonight in You Tube on my computer. Beautiful.🙏🙏🙏❤❤
One of my all time favourite Christmas movies. I have not seen it for quite a few years. So nice to find it on RUclips. A wonderful story and a fantastic cast. Maureen O'Hara was beautiful right to the very end of her life and such a talent!
That was such a beautiful story. How thrilling to be reminded of God's most important gift to us . . . His Son, Jesus.. All our love to You, dear Heavenly Father. ❤️
Had never seen this movie before. Such a strong message and excellent acting throughout. Hallmark movies like they used to be (a strong script with excellent lead actors and supporting actors). Back then it was quality and not quantity of films turned out like today. Thank you for posting such a great Christmas movie.
omg every year i look to see if this is on and it never is,,and never free on youtube..took a chance and here it is!...hope it stays up long enough for me to watch it :) thanks for uploading
I've watched this several times. Each time I see this movie it creates a magical feeling inside me. How important for all of us to cherish the time we have with our loved ones and to not take it for granted.
The Ski Company named “The Ski Company” was a very smart addition to the movie. This movie is great for all ages and I highly recommend watching this with your family.
I watched this movie because I love Maureen O’Hara movies. I wouldn’t watch it without her in it. I really really get upset when a man works so hard to provide for his family just to hear them complaint why he’s not home. But bringing work home is unacceptable. I draw the line at that.Just my view on ungrateful families.
Mo was 75 here, and remained impossibly beautiful well into her 80’s. She and Loretta Young kept their looks better and longer than any other Old Hollywood actresses of their era.
I love this special film!! I have loved it ever since it first came out!!!! Everytime I watch it,,it's as if I were watching it for the first time!!! It always brings tears to my eyes at the end of the film. Richard Thomas,,Maureen O'Hara and Annette O'Toole have done a work of art in this great all time beloved film. I thank you RUclips for putting it back on for all of us to enjoy!!!!!!! Blessings to you all!!!!
This is one of my favorite Christmas movies!! An excellent story about a family who discovers unexpected blessing and friendship while caring for a lonely widow who needs compassion along with their companionship. The touches of humor along the way lighten up the more serious aspects of the story while the film clearly portrays the amazing love available to everyone through Christ's birth. The actors are great in their roles and I especially like Maureen O'Hara's beautiful, touching performance. What a classy lady! Thank you so much for making this special movie available for all to see. Merry Christmas!
If you love this movie I highly recommend Maureen O'Hara in a tv movie "Cab to Canada" - based on a true story of an elderly woman who goes to a funeral and decides to hire a cab driver to drive her all the way to Canada. The film is about how these two strangers develop a phenomenal friendship. Stars Jason Behgle - made around 2000.
It sounds like "Diving Miss Daisy" with Jessica Tandy and Morgan Friedman in 1989. She, an erderly woman who can not drive any more and a chofer who is black. Throughout the movie they developed a nice friendship in spite of their diffrences and believes. Wonderful movie!!
What is my favorite part of this film? The entire thing! How closely it follows the book is impeccable. They portrayed Richard perfectly, from his poorly time jokes to his kindness to all. Don’t get me started on the perfection that is MaryAnne, she’s so kind to everyone from the start and gives the same lectures on entirely useless things, truly wonderful. The booming business of the Ski Company, beautiful company name, during the warm summer in Salt Lake. The not needed nor wanted conflict was such a perfect addition for the movie. This movie is going to become a yearly watch for me, truly heartwarming and perfect.
I read this book for the 1st time 20 years ago. I lost a daughter who was 6 when she died, so I related to this story immediately. Richard Paul Evans way of writing drew me in from the start and I've read nearly every book he has written. Richard Thomas did a good job portraying RPE well.
I've never seen this film but now that I have, I will probably be watching it every Christmas. I'm still sobbing. Such a sweet story and it embodies the real Christmas story. I am so glad I found it. Maureen O'Hara was and is my favourite actress and Richard Thomas has always been able to tell such lovely stories. I saw him first in The Waltons and I've seen in other stuff. Always loved both these people.
I read this wonderful book 2 years ago. I found this movie accidentally while I scrolled thru. My only child John died of COVID in Dec. 2021 just before Christmas. On the 14th it will be 3 years. The first year I was numb, going thru the motions. The second year the pain started. I can't explain how I survived. I went to The Compassionate Friends. I see a Grief Counselor which really helps. I'm having brain surgery in early January. I'm celebrating Christmas with friends, lunches, breakfasts. I suffer with depression but my eyes and heart are starting to open. John doesn't want me sitting around crying, ignoring my life. I believe he's in Heaven. No more pain. I know he loves me and is smiling. This movie is lovely. A true testament to love and our brief time here on earth. Merry Christmas everyone. God bless. ❤❤❤
I'm so sorry for the loss of your son. My niece was 44 years old, a mother, wife and nurse. It was an enormous loss for my sister and her husband. For all of us. She was their only daughter! 💔🙏💔 You will see your son again❣️🙏🇺🇸
You dear soul. May the Lord bless you always. Your son is eager for you to have a joyous Christmas season with your dear friends. Blessings with your surgery and recovery.❤
It was years before I finally watched this movie but it was well worth it. A beautiful story and wonderful message. Maureen O'Hara and Richard Thomas are such good actors.
This movie is so wonderfully done! The addition of all the unneeded and unnecessary comments tie it all together. The whole story is accurate to the book. My favorite part was how Richard decided to go through an old women's stuff and confront her about her dead daughter, literally broke me. This movie is such a classic!
Been watching this movie around Christmas time since I was little (was born in the 90s). Such a beautiful and touching movie ❤️ Truly heartwarming but also thought provoking.
This movie & John Denver's movie, "The Christmas Gift" & then "Christmas Vacation" are my 3 favorite Christmas movies. I have to watch these 3 before any others.
A real tear jerker, a reminder that life is short and should be appreciated and treasured, protected and remembered. A seller performance by Maureen O'Hara, Queen of the Silver Screen.🎉❤❤❤❤❤❤❤🎉
The government has commissioned this film to brainwash the bad people as they don't get the correct order of their priorities and they generally don't care about being kind. But will they watch this film? The government needs to order another film, about the drug dealers having dreams about angels and ditching their immoral business! Now we need a film for the government, ordered by the ordinary people, to teach the government how not to lie to their people once they get elected and how make the word "bribes"obsolete. Obviously, you need more than a pinch of salt ...🤔
I wish the Network would show "The Timepiece and "The Chritmas Box" together Every Holiday Season. The Story of David and Mary over the Years is So Beautiful and Touching. I Never Tire of their Story!!
This movie is always my favorite. It’s absolutely amazing how clueless everyone is about every little thing. If it’s the snow in the end everyone is amazed at, or going through the Christmas box looking in the distance everyone always seems to be clueless. This movie is absolutely amazing. Being in SLC and seeing how it is during Christmas, this is no where near close. The lack of decorations always amazed me. If I talked on the phone as fast as Richard I’d be getting stuff DONE! Absolute beautiful movie, definitely all about what Christmas should be about!
this movie came out when i was a little girl about 5yrs old id watch it with my mom bc were a sap for movies like these, i always loved maureen ohara bc i remember her in john wayne movies and the parent trap. this movie never used to make me cry lol but today it did bc it showed me how precious life is and how we should treasure family, especially now with the last 2yrs how crazy it has been, it has showed me how getting closer to the lord and cherishing my children and husband and family has truly meant to me, idk if its bc im 37 weeks pregnant or the fact that tv isnt what it once was but this movie being a wonderful example of the true meaning of christmas is just wonderful and i am happy youtube has it up. but the tears are sure falling and im excited about christmas, put up my tree and played christmas music now having lunch and enjoying this wonderful movie. please cherish every moment you have with your loved ones. and remember its never to early for chritsmas time bc it does go by so very fast and the sooner you start the longer you can enjoy it.
I remember reading this book and seeing the movie not too long after I lost my grandfather. My closest grandfather who use to tape Batman the series for me..R.I.P grandpap.
We read this book in class then watched the film. I loved the sound of crickets...indoors...in the middle of winter. It was a nice touch that I never would have thought of while reading the book. Changing Richard's store from a men's formal wear shop to a ski company called The Ski Company was a stroke of genius. I could really see why business was booming in the middle of summer. Very enjoyable film. Fun for all ages. I highly recommend it.
My favorite part was at 59:37. The man in the bookstore is a perfect, legendary actor. This movie would not be what it is with that oscar winning performance.
I used to watch this movie every year. I first watched it with my Aunt. It has been close to 25 years since I watched it last. I’m glad I remembered it today. Thank you for posting. It truly brought me so much happiness.
🙋I have watched this movie several times over the years. I always tear up / cry 😢 at then end. As a Mom of 2 and a sister who lost a younger brother way too soon it helps to be reminded of the importance of what each person means to us. We can get so busy that we often forget. Cherish each other and God's love for each one of us. There is an additional movie to this one that explains the back story in more detail. It is called "Timepiece" and is a great addition to the story. Merry Christmas to anyone reading this in 2020. God Bless you.🎄☺
Yes, watch this movie first and then the Time Piece. Time Piece is the story of Mary as a young adult and this movie is Mary in her advanced years. Both are outstanding, but I like Time Piece a little better.
My first time seeing this movie and indeed I teared up and my heart just melted! I could not believe Maureen O’hara’s name showed upin the credits! Wow! She never disappoints even in her old age! She was gem!
I Love This Film. I Love Richard Thomas and Maureen O Hara. I know this film ofg by heart as ive watched it so often. Its such a lovely story. Thsnks so much for posting it. 🤗⚘🤗⚘🤗⚘🤗⚘
It is Christmas 2022 and I just found this GEM …. It is a wonderful movie..a wonderful story…and I will share it. Thank you everyone involved with this… ❤️❤️❤️. 👼🏼
EXCELLENT 👍 MOVIE!! 🎥🎟️. This presentation is absolutely , truly the reason of CHRISTMAS!!! Im thrilled that this movie film 🎥 was actually produced, for all the general audiences!! CONGRATULATIONS! This movie film should be commended into the ORIGINAL CLASSIC for the ages!! Warmest Regards, Linda M Cinnamond 💜🤗🙋
I recently just read this great story the Christmas box in my english class. This was a great story! The book was almost an exact replica of the film, these stories were both very similar. I love how the book took place in SLC and the film was clearly taken place in California. The book had snow and winter weather. The film was almost the same taken place in the summer with clear sky’s, I love that part. I love that Mary was the same exact loving character in both the great film and the book. Reading and watching the film really bright tears to my eyes and brought out the true meaning of Christmas.
i always have cared about you maureen. my friend. i still care. rest in peace maureen. you are deeply and truly missed. you are still greatly missed. maureen o'hara and maggie smith and terri garr. and countless others. they are deeply deeply and truly truly missed. they are still greatly missed. kelly preston and kirstie alley. among others.
What an absolutely wonderful movie. Such a Beautiful story. Maureen O'hara was always such a Beautiful Lady. She is a true legend. For anyone who's never seen it, i would like to recommend another wonderful movie with Mrs. O'hara. The forbidden street is a really great watch.
Believe me this movie changed my life forever!!! 🎄🤶✝️ I went from hating Christmas to...well...hating it even more!! I loved the Christmas spirit everyone had!
It's been so many years since I've seen this. I'd forgotten a lot. The casting was perfect. I love Maureen O'Hara. I have the book to this movie somewhere. I'll read it again. Thank you for this. ❤
What a touching and meaningful movie! And oh God, I love Richard Thomas so much! How can he be so wonderful? He can pull off any role perfectly. His gentleness, sweetness, and loveliness make my heart flutter 💖💖💖
Edit to first comment: Richard Paul Evans, I believe one of his first novels. Excellent cast, beautiful story, powerful message. Highly recommend! Thank you for the upload!
I love the way the movie showed how nice Mary was to everyone, like it was portrayed in the book. And I also love so very very much how it was wintertime in Salt Lake throughout the whole movie.
I sure do love myself a good’ol’ classic Christmas movie. I loved the beautiful snowy scenes throughout the movie, This movie was just an amazing example of what a Christmas movie should look like, 11/10 would recommend for anyone who likes movies.
I cried like a baby watching this movie. Just lost my husband of 53 years 12/2023. He loved Maureen O'Hara and thought she was so beautiful and a wonderful actress.

I wanted to guy it all was really expensive. All 3 were good and those prequels explain The Christmas Box. Maureen Ohara is one of my all time favorite actresses.
I love this movie. I am glad that I was able to view it on u-tube. I had to get this movie on dvd.
What a lovely film & how stunning was Maureen o'hara ?
Never got to see this before- was too busy with life, now it will be a great movie to watch over again! Thank you
I've never seen this film but now that I have, I will probably be watching it every Christmas.
My favorite Christmas movie since I saw it when it first came out . Love the music in it , and the story , beautifully done.
I love Maureen O'Hara. Great movie.
I saw this movies maybe 10-years ago and couldn't remember it. Wonderful and beautiful.
You will see your son again❣️🙏🇺🇸
after loosing 2 sons hugssssssssssssssss my dear praying Bernadette
You dear soul. May the Lord bless you always. Your son is eager for you to have a joyous Christmas season with your dear friends. Blessings with your surgery and recovery.❤
My husband died in Sep 21 we had 38 yrs together I echo your thoughts exactly no one understands except people who lost their beloved god bless you
I will pray for you you are in God's hands and he loves you btw my husband died 3 yrs ago
I loved how the company Richard ran was named "The Ski Company", really an inspirational and well thought-out name.
A wonderful movie, the true spirit of Christmas.
This movie is much more than a movie.
It's a classic.
And it brings tears to my eyes.
Such a cathartic movie. Very well written, produced, and performed. Thanks very much for sharing!
Cathartic-- that's what everybody on the street says.😒
One of my favorites! So authentic and a positive message! LOVE Richard Thomas ever since the Waltons!!
Yes! Me too😊
We read this book in class then watched the film.
@@emmaleeskinner1201 Bookstore Clerk is my favorite. He wasn't even in the book. So glad they added him to the film.
I really love the angel statue such a beautiful piece of work but I got to know did anyone find its phone?
My favorite part was when the music was the same volume everywhere in the house he heard it!
I love how close the movie is to the book!. It’s outstanding.

🙋I'm glad you enjoyed it too. I read the book triolgy this year. His writing was very good. Happy Holidays🎄.

I am surprised no more people have washed this movie ...this is one of them movie Richard Thomas have done great movie ....love it ...thank u .
What did you wash this movie with?
Beautiful movie…I was very pleasantly surprised ❣️
What an absolutely wonderful movie. Such a Beautiful story. Maureen O'hara was always such a Beautiful Lady. She is a true legend. For anyone who's never seen it, i would like to recommend another wonderful movie with Mrs. O'hara. The forbidden street is a really great watch.
Loved this movie. Maureen as gracious and talented as ever. Thanks for providing access to this movie.
He's a wonderful actor. I've seen him on the stage twice.
@prairiegirlist How lucky you are! I want to meet him too!
Dreams were very outstanding! Great way to bring music with stone Angel's what a joy!
I read the book many years ago. This is a tender story. Thanks.
Thank you for posting this beautiful movie. Been looking years for it.
I love this movie and it hasn't been on tv in years. Thanks for uploading it. Merry Christmas!
From Maryanne being portrayed perfectly from the book to the movie, and Richard having the same mood in both is amazing. Overall 10/10
Love to you, lost my darling hubby 12 years ago. They are with us in spirit. I talk to him. Merry Christmas, God bless.
I haven't seen this movie for a long time! My favorite Christmas movie! Thanks for posting! 🤗🎁😇
I forgot how funny it is at times too. 😄 🤣 🏂

All the stuff on hallmark & LT is so predictable, boring & already been done a zillion x'zzz !
Maureen O'Hara was such a Great actress ... RIP !
I keep watchin it over & over bcuz u never know ...
Well ... let's see how long this stays loaded for !
I think the Time Piece is up-or else on DVD-this isn't-I am reading the trilogy book now
I wanted to guy it all was really expensive. All 3 were good and those prequels explain The Christmas Box. Maureen Ohara is one of my all time favorite actresses. She in John Candy in Only the Lonely and Mc Clintock with John Wayne.
Heaven Sent which is a Michael Landon Jr. Made it....Oh my you will just melt over this story. I bought my digital copy on Vudu.
I like how positive Mary is at the beginning such a nice old lady. I would work for her and a free house sounds like a deal.
Just caught this movie On Demand and I absolutely love it. I think it’s right up there with It’s A Wonderful Life. It’ll be a tradition with me now 🎄 🌟 👼
I just looked for this movie right about Thanksgiving time and couldn't find it. I had bought the book when it first came out, but was unable to read it. For some reason when the movie came out I didn't get a chance to watch it. With this year off 2020 we had I wanted to watch Christmas films I never got the chance to enjoy...well, here I am. What a delightful story, sad at the end. Thank you so much for posting this film, it's perfectly heartwarming for Christmas time!!! ❄️🎄✝️♥️
Glad you finally unlocked the Christmas box
@@keltonseiller279
Indeed. Perfectly put! ❤️
Yes, sad, but bittersweet sad. Mary is with her daughter now. I hope when my end comes my son will greet me...
