Julie Andrews and James Garner were perfect in this touching story. A quality film, good camera work, great acting, in which most of us can connect with the family's emotional stresses and the need for forgiveness. My second time watching and so glad that I found it again. Enjoy.
It just amazes me how quickly the deceased spouse is forgotton and the "fresh start" begins. On the other hand, I suppose when one partner becomes sick and the other is the caretaker, the grieving process has already begun.
Forgotten??? Moving on with life has nothing to do with forgetting. He'd lost is wife to Alzheimer's long before she finally passed. That aside, what makes you think the deceased spouse was forgotten? After my husband passed away I never stopped going to his grave to visit on ALL the special occasions - even with my new beau in tow. My husband loved me dearly & wanted me to find a "good man" after he passed.
Alzheimer’s disease- is a kind of disease which hurts the love one and family and friends… much much worse . Cause the one catch it - is often off- and when is on is not there - let’s feel what a wife or husband who’s a care giver , feels his the one alive and is forgetting- every second feels his wife is not feeling him anymore- it’s a lonely time while the wife is in the house or hospitalized the man has to deal with his wife is there but not see him no more - I think they feel they basically not included in their wife’s minds - so after she passed- it’s still hurts and sad - but if some one comes around-- it’s the way to move on .
Romantic and warm movie. I am fun of James Garner since I saw him in Rockford TV drama when I was a child,and Julie Andrews on Sound of Music was one of the classic.
They were together in two wonderful films-a British film, Americanization of Emily and Victor, Victoria. Just finished reading a very enjoyable memoir by Julie and she gives the distinct impression she had a major crush on Garner.
Beautiful film which i could watch again. So many true hidden meanings and being a believer of fate and what is meant to be will. A realistic and down to earth feel good factor story. Two great main actors with a cast of very fine supporting actors too. Very well produced and directed. I loved it. Thank you.

He was young and handsome in that western, and I never missed an episode. As a matter of fact, he never lost his good looks and aged handsomely. I sure miss him.
Haven't seen such a nice romantic movie for a long time! Laughed a lot listening to the conversation of the main actors and even cried! I've recommended to my friends!😍
