I watched this movie several years ago with my late husband . I have worked with the elderly as an occupational therapy assistant. It all rings true. Lovely film.
@@eguirald I seriously doubt the younger generations would appreciate movies of this calibre. They were both wonderful actors, I always loved and still do love all the movies with actors born in the late 20s and through the Golden Years. They all had presence that we no longer see in most movies. The Movie Studios definitely could pick the cream of the crop back in the day of when acting was heart felt and they took their profession seriously, from the heart. My parents met when they both worked in the Cinema, my father was an usher while my mother worked in the Kiosk. Mother had a wonderful voice and performed in Musical Comedies and later in life she enjoyed acting in some plays. My father an electrician by trade, would help with building sets and doing lighting. Being an only child, I grew up literally in theatres, with my debut on stage at age 5. So I was always in love with the Golden Oldies movies. Deanna Durbin had a wonderful voice and presence on film. I also adored Fred Astaire and Ginger Rogers, along with all his many dance partners. When my parents toured America, she purchased a set of Rita Hayworth eyelashes from a Studio back in the 70s. It was wonderful growing up with parents involved in theatre. I was so fortunate that I was never left with a babysitter. I went everywhere with my parents. My first paid job was as a Floodlight Operator front of house for the National Ballet in my country, at age ten. For some reason I was never tired for school. I was lucky enough to play opposite my mother in Belle of New York with her as Cora Anoelique ...the Queen of Comic Opera and I played her understudy Pansy Pinns. My mother had such a wonderfully strong soprano voice, so strong that it was intimidating for me being a mezzo - soprano, singing a duet with her. All while my father was front of house, spotlighting us. I even met my husband while in the theatre, rehearsing the musical Chu Chin Chow. It's lovely at 71 years old, have so many wonderful and unique memories and having lived such a full life. Sorry to bore you with my reminiscing. Needless to say, I have always been tied up in theatre until I was 32, as my husband and I moved to an outback regional town and I ended up pursuit my other passions in life, Dressmaking and Communications.

And if it doesn't, I won't fill my life with less, then I'd rather stay alone until I am no more.
Two pieces of music bring even more joy to this movie: Beethoven's Sixth Symphony, and Ralph Vaughan Williams' "The Lark Ascending". Vaughan Williams' piece speaks rebirth, excitement, and beauty. It appears midway through the movie, and makes the ending even more wonderful.

Thank you Niels. That was lovely and the taxi driver was precious too.
Joss was only about 66-67 here, 5-6 years younger than Mick Jagger.
Mick Jagger was born in 1943, Joss Ackland in 1928, Jean Simmons in 1929, so they were both older than Mick Jagger. Joss and Jean were not my definition of elderly being in their sixties, although they looked much older. Great actors. RIP
British are making the best movies by far.
