Hattie McDaniel was criticized for stereotypically playing maid roles. She said "I'd rather play a maid than be one." She made a very good living and biyght herself a beautiful home and treated her friends and family.

This is a gem of a movie. It rivals "It's a Wonderful Life" to me. Wish my Mother and I had seen it together when she was alive, but I believe she did see it at some point in her life. She often spoke of Claudette Colbert and Joseph Cotton. I was very surprised to see Shirley Temple. It takes me back to a time that I wasn't here and could see life as my Mother was growing up in a very difficult time when the country was struggling. From the script to the incredible actors to the music and the realistic set, I am so thankful that I found this and definitely think it is one of the greatest films of all time.

They had two sons and were in the process of divorcing during filming as she was leaving him for David O. Selznick, the producer of this movie. Walker was devastated and began drinking, he was only 32 when he passed away in 1951.

Shirley Temple still had that cuteness 😊
Claudette Colbert (mother) always reminded me of Jane Wyman must be the high cheekbones 😊

For all the youngsters. If you're wondering why the husband and wife had separate beds in thier bedroom. It's due to censorship. Back in those days movies and tv weren't allowed to show adults sharing a bed. In real life I assure you grandpa and grandma heck great grandpa and great grandma did sleep together.😊

With black and white you are able to use deep focus. That is why it is not blurry
