I’m here because I am a Catholic who strayed from god 30 years ago and I’m now 52 year old man who has not seen my family for 10 years..I live alone and pretty much a recluse but I’m once again trying to re connect with the Lord..I remember my grandma visited Lourdes in the late 70s and brought me back some holy water in a statue of our lady ❤..Would you please pray for me 🙏🏼
I was diagnosed with tuberculosis JUST TODAY. My husband and I watched this movie just last night. He chose it without knowing that St. Bernardette died of tuberculosis, which I knew. After watching it, my weeks-long fear and worry over testing positive for tuberculosis completely left my mind and soul, just like that. As a matter of fact, I even felt joy! God prepared me this way, His way, to deal with TB without complaining and to, on the contrary, follow St. Bernardette's example by offering up my symptoms for the healing of the sick and the salvation of souls! Coincidence is not mere luck or a casual moment. No, coincidence is God's way to convey to us what He needs us to see, hear, think, feel, say and do! God is so good! 🙏🏻🥰
It was 90 yrs after Bernadette discovered the spring that anti-biotics were invented to treat TB and other bacterial diseases. Miraculous waters have been found in many places around the world. The pain and suffering that was attributed to the disease as the doctor said was too horrible to describe. How God has the power to shield you from such pain is a miracle in itself.
Giving your suffering a purpose is beautiful. I had cancer 3 years ago and the treatments about did me in. It was through the example of Saint Bernadette offering herself for the love of Christ that inspired me to do the same. The cancer is gone. Another 2 years I'll be considered as cancer free. God bless you, your in my prayers.
I have visited Lourdes in France my daughter had leukemia at the age of 3 she is now 31 drank the water look the bathes it’s a magical place like no other this was a special movie to me very well done enjoyed watching it .
I sincerely pray for your brother and you and your family God bless to each and everyone of you may the good lord 🙏 ❤️ be with you and your family always God.
I was 10 I had a day off school I watched a midday movie I didn't have a tv program in my house so every day was a surprise to me . I was so moved by this movie I wanted to convert as a Christian to a Catholic that day. I was hooked on Christ.
I’ve been watching since the 1960’s too. I’ll be 63 years old next week, I’m still moved by this movie and my faith is as strong now as it has been, every time I watch it.
I went to lourdes years ago. It was wonderful. The processions and the grotto and the baths of miraculous water. Some people got out of their wheelchairs and put their walking sticks over the grotto. I believe 🙏
Thank you for sharing this movie with us. I used to watch it with my family as a child back in the '60's. Perhaps it was once a year on our black and white TV. 📺😊Brightest Blessings to whomever chooses to read this. Happy Easter. ☺️✌️❤️🦋🙏
Many people that have watched miracles happen in front of their eyes still don’t believe, may god be kind and WECOME you into the heart of this church. I am no one special I don’t even go to church as my church is outside every day, Robert
My name is Bernadette. No accident that i found this wonderful movie tonight. My life has been hard. My only child, my son died covid related on Dec 14, 2021. He also suffered with severe RA. I miss him every day. In early Jan, 2025, I'm having a tumor removed from my brain. No cancer, but im afraid. I am asking St. Bernadette to intercede to Our Lord on my behalf. To all who posted, please keep me in your prayers. God bless you. Merry Christmas. ❤❤❤
My dear, I realise this is easy for me to say, but the hardest thing in the world to do. Try to trust that your sweet son is safe now in the Holy Arms of God. He is in Paradise now, where he will never know pain, tears, or fear. You will be together again when God wills that the time is right. I came to know a little more about suffering. This wasn't through studying theology at university. It wasn't through the blessed experience of being a novice in a religious Order. It wasn't through having had a childhood of abuse and a hard life. It wasn't through being chronically sick and disabled. It was from a little kitten called Pumpkin. Two girls brought me a cardboard box. In it, there were two little balls of fur. They were sick kittens, and the girls knew I would care for them. I wasn't housebound then, so I rushed them to the vet. The little girl is called Buttercup. She is looking at me now. I nursed Buttercup and Pumpkin, and they recovered. We had some fun times together. Then Pumpkin got sick. Really sick. I took him regularly to the vet, nursed him day and night. Buttercup cared for him like I've never seen before. I was given lots of things to do by the vet. Unpleasant medicine, injections. I even had to bathe his little bottom. An event that I suppose to be most undignified in cat world. One day, I was holding him in my hands, giving him these unpleasant treatments. He looked up at me, and I could swear he was asking why I was making him suffer. I gently told him that he was a little kitten and I was a human being. I couldn't explain in a way he could understand why I was making him suffer with these treatments. I then said he knew I was his mother and loved him very much. I found myself saying that I can't explain the suffering, so all I ask is that you trust in my love. I think he understood. Trust in my love. That is what God asks of us. He can't explain the reason for our suffering. He asks us to trust in His love. I nursed my little Pumpkin in ways much more loving. In the end, Jesus took him home. Feline leukaemia contracted in the womb. Buttercup was strong enough to fight it off, but little Pumpkin wasn't. We know that God tells Job that his terrible sufferings could not be explained in ways he could understand. God reminded Job that He had made the mountains and held the seas in the palm of His hand. God created this incredible world full of interconnected elements so accurately that the slightest change would have meant earth, and the life on it wouldn't have been created and functioned. If God is so intelligent so as to create this, it stands to reason He did so for a special purpose. We know His beloved son endured grievous suffering. We should find joy in life. In those million moments that God scatters through our day. But when suffering comes, I believe God says to us what the Holy Spirit inspired me to say to little Pumpkin. Trust in my love. I hope something of what I said made sense. I wish you well, God bless, Sr. K
I am soooooooo sorry for your loss,l lost my son to a brain tumor. It was malignant, l know the burden of that loss, it's been 27 yrs since he passed and l still weep for him, you are in my prayers, may God keep you safe in his arms during your surgery , and every day after❤
John 14:6: "Jesus answered, 'I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me'". Might want to rethink who you're praying too.
I am a buddhist boy from srilanka . I saw this accidentally . But i addicted to this. I want to see this again and again again and again . Sautation to st. Bernedette !🌺
Preethi, I read a 600-page biography of St Bernadette last month, and she was extraordinary - simple and good and yes, very funny. God bless you and your family.
Dear Preethi, I hope you can learn more about Bernadette and also the children of Medjugoria. Our Lady still appears there. She always points us to her son Jesus. She said "do what ever he tells you". ❤❤❤
My mother’s confirmation name was Bernadette. I lost my mother 6 years ago. She spoke of this movie and her story. I am watching now in honor of both my mother and the saint. Ty for sharing this film.
My wife died almost 3years ago and miss her so much,a beautiful woman just like Bernadette, this was a wonderful ,wonderful movie that really moves me to tears every time i see it ,the most wonderful actors and actresses, and brings the great Lourdes to life and all its wonders and miraculous cures to life.@@Mick-h7i
My beautiful beloved husband was diagnosed with stage 4 inoperable glioblastoma...please, ask Our Lady of Lourdes to pray for him, I know the more voices that request this, She will come to our aid. God bless you all 🕊

The priest referred to as father exclaims Bernadette sees the Blessed mother as another girl did. Yet, Bernadette under a deposition did not agree with the prosecutor putting words in her mouth saying Bernadette calls her vision of the lady the Blessed Mother the church Bernadette attended for religious catachism Instruction seemed more harsh then Spiritual in taking away a reward holy saint card and discrediting Bernadette for lack of knowledge to the Holy Trinity. The card depicted taken away was the birth of Christ with the Blessed Mother. Perhaps God loved her so in revealing to her the Blessed mother as God did to Mother Mary conceived of the Holy Spirit called the Immaculate Conception the purpose of a Savior we look to then and now the highest our highest Priest in our Lord Jesus Christ who I doubt would have denied her a Holy card and would have taken piety and Mercy on Bernadette 's sickness caused by Asthma and would have healed her instead of chastising and ridiculing her abruptly for my discernment not a disposition of Jesus' general love and teachings not fixing my beliefs just glad I believe and Spiritually perceive According to this article source 🔗 ....Bernadette earnestly begged the Lady to reveal Her name, to which the Blessed Virgin replied, joining Her hands and raising Her eyes to Heaven: “I am the Immaculate Conception.” To add into Source 🔗 fatima.org/news-views/our-lady-of-lourdes-and-fatima/ 🙏🕊️💞🌍👁️
@@karenkhyyiam151 - I learned after "The Song of Bernadette" Hollywood started to make more religious movies since it became a positive force in Hollywood. They had many individuals reading books and so they can write screen plays to make more of these wonderful religious movies.
Wouldn’t be awesome to have beautiful movie more present today? This movie is excellent. I love vintage movies like this. 🙏🏻 🕊️ 🙏🏻 The Chosen series is is about the life and death of Jesus Christ. Very informative.
Wondering why you need to choose another name to confirm yourself. In the Bible, it never mentioned need to choose a name other than the name that you were given at birth or if the person legally changes there name.
@@scottbellagio The truth is: catholics don't choose a new "name" at confirmation. They choose their personal patron saint, and they borrow the name from that saint. Please, educate yourself.
The Song of Bernadette is one of my all time favorite movies. I’ve seen it many many times and I cry every single time. I cried now when I looked at it here. The look on Jennifer Jones’ face when she sees the Blessed Virgin Mary is absolutely beautiful. It is perfection. Jennifer Jones won the Oscar for Best Actress in this movie. It also won Oscars for Best Score, Best Cinematography & Best Art Design Interiors Black & White. It was also nominated in 8 other categories. Alfred Newman’s musical score is magnificent. That makes me cry too, it’s so beautiful. He has done the scores for many Biblical movies. I have several books on the life of Saint Bernadette. Her body did not corrupt. It’s a miracle. Thank you for uploading this movie on RUclips. I hope it get a lot of views. God bless St. Bernadette. 💜✝️🙏🏻
What you say is so true! This movie will bring you to your knees !Did you know out of all the actresses that applied to be St Bernadette in this movie could not identify the picture they showed them all but Jennifer Jones could ? And did you know Alfred Newman stayed up all day and night weeks after weeks smoking packs of cigarettes to apply the music for this movie ! Isn't that something !
Sorry I meant to say a picture of The Blessed Virgin Mary was shown to all of them and Jennifer Jones was the only one who could identify her the rest did not!
Oh nice to know that her body did not corrupt. That goes to say, it is still well the same. Is not it? What does this mean? Does it mean that on the final judgement of God, St Bernadette will return to life? I am asking . God have mercy on us, Christ hear us, Amen
Yes that's questionable ! But they keep digging her up so much that her body started to decay now the Catholics have done so many things to preserve her body why do they have to put her on display leave her body in the ground why did they find it nesseccary to keep digging her up ?Leave her body alone !
One of the most beautiful shots in 1940's cinema is at 2:14:42 - Unlike any other moment in the film we see the suffering humanity of Bernadette and a lonely grandeur reminiscent of Christ in Gethsemane... "if you will take this cup from me..."
This is my all time favorite movie. Jennifer Jones' acting luminous, humble, quiet and gentle, yet she shows strength, determination and tenaciousness in her performance. Utter perfection.
It's incredible, isn't it? Jennifer Jones was 24 and the mother of two boys when she made this - presumably a sophisticated person, having lived in New York and arrived in Hollywood three years earlier. For all that, was saintly innocence ever more credibly portrayed? The only discrepancy was height, since Bernadette was 4' 7" and Jennifer a foot taller.
In Chicago, when I was growing up, we had a TV show called Family Classics. Every Easter Sunday they showed this movie. I watched it every Easter for years. Still love it!!
I remember watching the Family Classic show from Chicago also. The best of the best in my opinion .WGN ! BOZO was also on that station . Saw the show live with my family. Waiting time for the BOZO show was at least ten years. My daughter was picked for playing on compaction game on show . Her team won! Good memories. 🤔🤗👍🤭👌✌️
Chicago was once a great city to live sad ppl didn’t follow our roots they be happy when old to have a great childhood n memory n we watch all of what you say amen
I recalled reading in the inside of the movie information that Teresa Wright was considered and another actress too, but she and another had taken other roles and couldn't accept this one. She also has the same glow and innocents of Jennifer Jones. This movie gave Jennifer Jones the vehicle to get that Oscar due to her physical acting of digging in the dirt and placing dirt in her face as real as she can which most actresses would not have done.
No all the actresses that applied to play St Bernadette were given a picture of the Blessed Virgin Mary it was very faded but Jennifer Jones could recognize her and said that's The Blessed Mother ! So she got the part ! Way to go Jennifer!
Ms. Jones was certainly recognized in her own time for _The Song of Bernadette_ . With a budget of $1.6 million in 1943, it was 20th Century Fox's highest grossing picture with $4.7 million ever (back then they went by how much the studio took in, so that meant _The Song_ made Zanuck and Co. almost 200% profit). It also was nominated for and won numerous awards. The film was a runaway hit, and it reached those records during the middle of WWII, of all times.
Mother Mary is not a story but a Gift from Heaven. She is daughter of the Father, Mother the SON, JESUS and Spouse of the Holy Spirit. Bernadette is what should be the simple innocence of a child full of LOVE 💘 💕 💗
I suspect you are not alone. Now go there. Bernadette is there, in her dank house, but mainly at the grotto. So is Our Lady. Mary keep you dear friend-
I agree! I watched this movie as a very child and it never left me. I was not Catholic but entered the Church when I was 19. I took the name Bernadette for my confirmation. I have visited the grotto where our lady appeared to Bernadette. I was chosen read the second reading at the Mass in the grotto that day. What a grace! St. Bernadette please pray for me…
I to have watched this movie many many times and cry each time I watch it! I suffer from chronic pain syndrome and I offer my pain up to god each day ! I also know I will be happy and painless should I go to heaven! Bernadette is my patron Saint and have been to Lourdes! It’s was a very emotional visit! One I hope to make again. It’s the only place that as I arrive I broke down in tears with emotion! ❤🙏🏻 I’m am in my sixties a male but I love mother Mary with all my heart!
Jennifer Jones became a superstar with this movie but unfortunately there's only one Bernadette in history. I don't think she repeated this caliber performance again.
My late aunt was named Bernadette, I hope she's in peace and rejoined her loved ones in Heaven. All her sisters and brother and the rest of her family miss her all so very much. Rest in peace Bernadette 😢❤
My mom saw this movie as a young kid living on the farm, she was 16, left home worked as a telephone operator. She lived with a coworker that lost her husband , in WWll. Mom and I were watching it , her friend came over , she watched, too, I made popcorn, served root beer, after the show , they reminisced seeing the movie, when it first came in theaters.😊
I first saw this movie when in grammar school. On Thursday's we left classes early to attend "religious instruction at the church. (Catholic) I chose the name Bernadette as my confirmation name. That was over 60 years ago. Seeing this now, has rekindle some very special memories. I wanted to become a nun. That never happened. Instead, I became a minister after raising 3 children. I guess the calling never was withdrawn. So blessed am I.
. Have you heard of EWTN. Catholic "JOURNEY HOME" hosted by Max Grodi. It's an amazing program about people who have come or come back to the Catholic Church.💥
I saw this movie as a little girl and watch every time I see it is on the tv. Non catholic but as a believer I’ve always thought what a beautiful story and why wouldn’t God speak to his people in different ways ❤
Yes, it is a good fiction. A pretty woman who "had visions and is theoretically a virgin. Yes, that would attract a lot of fans. The Bible says as well that the devil can disguise himself as an angel of light.
@@Eyelash85Fiction? Only Satan disguised as an angel of light would say such a thing. Jesus said a tree will be known by its fruits. Only good fruits were made through this apparition. The bad fruits is when Satan appears as an angel of light, and tries to sow confusion and doubt such as negative comments. The wickedness of our heart is revealed through our life, deeds and nasty little comments, just as a tree is known by the good fruit it bears.
This lovely film was seen by me when it first came out 76 years ago, i drove my poor mother bonkers talking about it afterwards. I finally entered the Church in ‘65. My family was not amused but accepted my conversion eventually! . ‘The Song of Berbadette’ has much to answer for. Every time I see it, it hauls me right back to a little eight-year-old who was enchanted by the story of a girl of 14 who saw a ‘beautiful lady’ who said’ “I am the Immaculate Conception’
I adore this movie. It was made during the dark days of WW2 to try to give people hope. I am going to visit the Lourdes shrine someday. I never knew until recently that Jennifer Jones won the Oscar for her portrayal of Bernadette.
I visited Lourdes in 19723 as a part of a school trip, we stayed a hotel the Bon Pasteur(?) , I think it translates to The Good Shepherd, we visited all the places connected to St.Bernadette, taking the Holy waters and most memorably the candlelight possession.
I wouldn’t bother if i were you. Having been there it’s a tourist trap and Catholic con job. One comes away thinking how perverse the church is, manipulating the hopes of the pilgrims and accepting their money on false pretences.
Everyone Of You Can Pray 🙏 To Jesus Christ Yourself and Pay Very Close Attention To Exactly What The Gospel Says ( The Only Mediator Between God and Man is Christ Jesus ) 1st Timothy Ch-2 VS-5 ) St Bernadette Was Never The Mediator Between God and Man (Christ Jesus) Anyone Not Preaching Sound Doctrine Is Not A Pastor In God’s Eyes, and Everyone Is To Rebuttal Anyone Not Teaching Sound Doctrine ( Titus Ch-1 Vs -9 ) All Those In The Church Congregation Refused To Rebuttal Anyone Not Preaching Sound Doctrine Is Also Disobedient The Same As Adam & Eve 👍🙏
This world appears uninterested in Saints, Christian mystics and the anointed. So many people could be saved because the Living God still shares prophecy.
Bless Bernadette. Her life is meant to be remembered, however Bernadette no doubt had no interest to be prayed to. That is wholly for our Heavenly Padre via our Saviour Cristo 🙏
Thanks be to The Heavenly Father for this most beautiful touching & true life of St. BERNADETTE. She is an inspiration & wonderful example of true Catholic Faith. Praise The Lord. Amen.

l love jennifer jones' movies. she always seems so reverent and magical when she performs, like a fairy tale figure. this movie is one of her best. she's very unique in the world of acting. may she rest in peace.
Amen! I know she's in Heaven yet her life was not easy ! I know she already met St. Bernadette in Heaven ! What an honor !Did you know that Jennifer Jones was the only actress who identified the Blessed Virgin Mary in a picture but the other actress s couldn't !
I was raised by the Blessed Virgin Mary nuns! I have a great faith in every word that proceeds out of the mouth of Jesus Christ!! Good foundation for what is to come soon. Watch and pray 🙏. Come King Jesus COME!!!
My Patron Saint is Saint Bernadette . By the age of 50, I'd gone through some bad times that out way the good. I moved and left that life behind, only to spend the next 14years managing a charity shop, helping those less fortunate, counseling too. At the beginning of this time, I was hanging out the washing, in my new back yard, I felt someone looking at me. I turned around and looked up, and there She was. Very tall, transparent, palms facing upwards. I had a feeling of utmost peacefulness. I didn't want to blink incase Mother Mary disappeared. Her presence gave me strength to face the trials and tribulations ahead. I saw her, once, but that was enough to last a lifetime. On retiring, I was given a card, by one of our volunteers, with Mary on it, and I said to her, that's exactly how I saw Mary! My friend said, She's the bringer of Peace. I've always preyed for Peace, since 17yrs old. Our prayers are heard, even though we may doubt at times. Pray in asking, but without expectations. Thank you for this beautiful movie.
I remember my mother reciting the rosary everyday.Sometimes, i made some snide remarks about what she was doing and telling my in law that maybe my mother is practicing to become a nun.. but, now i found myself praying it everyday as i believed that the BLESSED VIRGIN MARY will intercede my prayers always to our Lord Jesus . Thank you mama.
Just by accident I found this film. The title was familiar and something draw me toward watching it. Slowly I remembered That I saw this film before in my childhood, over 55 years ago. I remembered the scene went the man with the blind eye put his hand in the water and then to his face. This is the only one I vividly remembered. Finding this film was a blessing from God. My soul will sleep happy tonight.
If you’re talking about Mary, there are two devotions I know that might help. These aren’t approved by the church, so it might not happen, but the church doesn’t condemn them either, so they might happen. One of the promises of the 7 Prayers of St. Brigit is that Jesus will come to you one month before your death. One of the promises of the 15 Prayers of St. Brigit is that He and Mary will come visit 15 days before death. The 15 Prayers of St. Brigit takes one year and the 7 Prayers of St. Brigit takes 12 years. Do with this information what you will. Edit: I just checked. The 12 year prayer only promises that you will be made conscious of your death one month in advance. However, the eighth promise of the one year prayers is that Jesus will come to you before your death with the Blessed Virgin, it doesn’t give a time though. You can find these prayers on the RUclips channel Catholic Crusade.
This is my all time favorite Saint Bernadette movie of all time. There are others out there, but this is the best version telling the story of Saint Bernadette...I love you so Saint Bernadette, pray for us. 🙏
I remember watching this for the first time on tv as a grade schooler. I’m not Catholic but I had every intention of becoming a nun afterwards. Beautiful beautiful movie. Thank you for uploading ❤
Please consider entering the Catholic Church. It's the only Church founded by Christ & salvation comes thru the Catholic Church only. (Mark XVI, 15-16 "Go into the whole world & preach the Gospel to every creature. He that believeth and is baptised shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be condemned". There is no salvation outside the Catholic Church. 🙏
@@johnmorgan4313 Mr. Morgan, please forgive me, our Lord Cristo is not the founder of the Catholic Church. He practiced Judaism during in his very short life. He clearly commands us to pray directly to Heavenly Padre through HIM, not by anyone else. The Catholic Church brain washed n continues to do so. I grew up in the "CC", then I returned in my 30's to become a Nun & fortunately I'm so grateful that Padre God allowed that journey to take place for I'm happier in my still infant walk. I so pray you realize that we Believers of Padre God & our Lord Yeshua/Cristo have a real Judaism heritage that the "CC" seldom acknowledges. I myself yearn n will someday begin my studies with Jewish Christians, for its their that our Saviour's Apostles continued as instructed & commanded 🙏
@@johnmorgan4313 That is an absolute lie.!! Only those who believe in Jesus Christ as their Lord and Saviour will see Eternal life in Heaven, Shame on you for leading Souls astray. You'll have your penance when God judges you
One of my favorite movies. I saw it once years ago on TCM, where they did a “making of the film” segment showing how they built everything on a Hollywood set, complete with grotto and river; it was made during the war (1943), and there was no access to the actual site.
The scene where Bernadette digs into the soil with her hands as instructed by our Lady. The people laugh at her soiled face. A reminder to all of us that we are not perfect, but God can help us be one, with the help of our dear Mother’s intercession. Who would have known that miraculous water would then flow out of that spot. Obedience and humility.
Who in this world still has love for the annointed and the Living God. I do. Many people could be saved with the prophecies and messages from the Living God. Jesus Christ is Love.
The Catholic Church honors the nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary on Sept.8 which is my birthday. I feel so blessed and honored. I am so blessed to have a catholic education which was taught to me by the Sisters of Notre Dame at St.Mary's in Sandusky, Ohio. May we all pray for this world, Amen❤
Jennifer Jones is amazing as Bernadette and a young Vincent Price really stands out as well. Great cast for the telling the story of Our Lady of Lourdes.
Imagine how the world would be if we were all like Saint Bernadette? She lived in poverty she suffered so much with her cancer but yet she was still humble ! Like the Lord wants us to be ! St Bernadette you are the most kind and loving person as The Lord wants us to be! May we follow your example and be like you! But this world is full of evil and we must stay on the Path to our Lord Jesus Christ if we don't then we must endure the horror of hell ! Pray ,Fast Repent and follow him The Most High ! Never mind what evil the people do keep your heart and soul on The Most High ! Bernadette you are the True example of what we are suppose to be but most are not !
St Bernadette my patron saint for ever, I fell in love with you. At 5 yrs old, the first time I watched , You in my tv . Then my Mom went to buy your book. Now I chose. You as my confirmation name,. I still watch you, may i have purity of my heart and soul. Please pray for me. Amen
I Love St. Bernadette! I went to Lourdes, France and saw her house. Even though Lourdes is full of sick visitors it is the most beautiful place I have visited. You can truly feel God’s Love.
I’m 91 years old. I saw this movie in Japan. 1962 I came to California as a student. I saw this move on the tv again. I didn’t understand English well then. In 2020 I was baptized at Catholic Church in Anaheim. I named Bernadette. I am in bad situation in my life now. I have lost all my assets in the past 9 years. Because of my naive and I trusted people. Since I have no family, I only have Jesus and St. Bernadette’s I watch the movie every day. I was collage professor till 2001. I still teach and people said I don’t look as 91. I’ve lost everything, but I still have movie and my students and Jesus . Thank you for RUclips. God bless to yuTub. 1:45:43
I was named Bernadette First time to hear of her glorious work I suffer from chronic rhinitis and asthma From now on I will take heed of her glorious work
I am watching this now on the train as I return from Lourdes. What a wonderful place. Sublime in every sense of the word. The grotto was a site to behold. St. Bernadette pray for us! Holy Mother of the Word Incarnate Pray For Us All!
The way they treated this child was horrific, the Catholic church, the priest, the nuns, its people were very judgemental and cruel hearted. This is a true depiction of what scripture says...the heart is desperately wicked and deceitful above all things, who can know it. I loved Aunt Bernard who said that she wasn't cunning enough to create such a story. Praise be to our Lord and Savior!
Aunt Bernard & the Priest Dean , Bernadette are all amazing as I was taught in my 15 yrs of Catholic training inc Jesuits. ! Respect we all shared ! Sadly lack of Respect and the e love of God has lessened! 🙏🙏🛐🛐
When you watch with hate in your heart, all you see is hatred. You had no problem ignoring how horrid the officials were and how many the priest and became her staunchest defender... but those Catholics!!😅 Edit: Here is the historical context. During the French Revolution, all places of worship (including Protestants) were nationalized (owned by central government). Priests and nuns were guillotined for not renouncing their faith (look up Carmelite nuns) and all property confiscated. Notre Dame Cathedral today is owned by France, not the Catholic Church. Bernadette's visions occurred about 60 years after the Revolution. France had 9 completely different governments in that time. Catholic institutions were still under immense scrutiny and subject to government authority. Life was hard economically with most people traveled within only a 10 mile radius in their lifetimes. Hard times create hard people. The Church had to very careful with Marian visions and investigate thoroughly before claiming an official miracle.

I agree! God is great! ❤
Bernadette was my mother's favourite Saint. We watched this movie many times together.
It is an excellent movie. Glad to see it o
She didn't deserve to be treated like garbage by those bitter nuns .. glad I'm Methodist...

I watched this movie in the 1960s... It is now 2023 and I still am watching! Truly, a wondeful movie of love, hope, sacrifice and believing in God❣
Blessings to you and a very merry christmas x 🙏🌹
My first time watching it as a newly hatched Catholic.
i would recommend researching Marian Apparitions its fascinating. i will give you book recommendations if you like
Many people that have watched miracles happen in front of their eyes still don’t believe, may god be kind and WECOME you into the heart of this church. I am no one special I don’t even go to church as my church is outside every day, Robert
Welcome to the family. Welcome home 🙏 God bless you.

Will be praying for you.

Dear Preethi, I hope you can learn more about Bernadette and also the children of Medjugoria. Our Lady still appears there. She always points us to her son Jesus. She said "do what ever he tells you". ❤❤❤

Perhaps God loved her so in revealing to her the Blessed mother as God did to Mother Mary conceived of the Holy Spirit called the Immaculate Conception the purpose of a Savior we look to then and now the highest our highest Priest in our Lord Jesus Christ who I doubt would have denied her a Holy card and would have taken piety and Mercy on Bernadette 's sickness caused by Asthma and would have healed her instead of chastising and ridiculing her abruptly for my discernment not a disposition of Jesus' general love and teachings not fixing my beliefs just glad I believe and Spiritually perceive

I named myself Bernadette as my confirmation name and hope and pray she is watching over me.
I too chose that as my conformation name Marie Bernadette
Wondering why you need to choose another name to confirm yourself. In the Bible, it never mentioned need to choose a name other than the name that you were given at birth or if the person legally changes there name.
@@scottbellagio The truth is: catholics don't choose a new "name" at confirmation. They choose their personal patron saint, and they borrow the name from that saint. Please, educate yourself.
@@NataliaJuliaNowak No need to be harsh. Thank you. 🙏🏻
Hmm
I'm not in a very good place right now. I'm watching this movie because when I was younger it gave me hope. It's a wonderful movie.
🙏🏼
❤️❤️👍🙏
May the Lord be with you 🙏🏼👏🏻📿trust in him
Trust in His Ways because they are perfect and He is with you . ❤
Start working the steps at Alcoholics Anonymous meetings. This is the way to get out from under the suffering.

Me too Rose! Then and Now! Peace be with you!!
For us it was The Ten Commandments or Ben Hur at Easter.
Many of us still remember the host, Frasier Thomas, with fondness.

I am watching again in 2024. I love this movie
Every time. St. Bernadette pray for us please 🙏🏻
Jennifer Jones tried to bring Bernadette back to the public mind. She deserves a standing ovation.
She was great in The Song of Jennie. Very haunting..
I think that movie was called A Portrait of Jenny or Jennie with Joseph Gotten ! Yes it was a strange movie
This story and movie is beyond beautiful! Every time i watch this movie i cry. I LOVE this story and movie so much!
Mother Mary is not a story but a Gift from Heaven. She is daughter of the Father, Mother the SON, JESUS and Spouse of the Holy Spirit. Bernadette is what should be the simple innocence of a child full of LOVE 💘 💕 💗
This movie is what brought me back to the church .
The Eucharist is the centre of the Christian life in the Church .

@Lorenzo Bianchini ... you are correct because it's Jesus Christ's body and blood.
I suspect you are not alone. Now go there. Bernadette is there, in her dank house, but mainly at the grotto. So is Our Lady. Mary keep you dear friend-

It is the blessed visionaries like St Bernadette and the Fatima kids that have restored my faith.
God does speak to us, in many ways, we just do not listen, we are too occupied in. Other task, to listen to what God is telling us
Why non Catholic if you believe it true?
Maybe this movie will convert you to Catholic faith.

One God in three persons God the Father God the Son Good the Holy Spirit
Such a lovely movie. So much of her belief, her strength really should be something for all of us to reflect on.
Buddhist from Malaysia, this movie is very touching! May God blessed everyone and stay safe too!

I adore this movie. It was made during the dark days of WW2 to try to give people hope. I am going to visit the Lourdes shrine someday. I never knew until recently that Jennifer Jones won the Oscar for her portrayal of Bernadette.
i hope you can make the journey. my dream has been to visit the Cova , the shrine of Our Lady of Fatima some day. God Bless 🙏
I visited Lourdes in 19723 as a part of a school trip, we stayed a hotel the Bon Pasteur(?) , I think it translates to The Good Shepherd, we visited all the places connected to St.Bernadette, taking the Holy waters and most memorably the candlelight possession.
To visit Our Lady of Lourdes is #1 on my bucket list
I wouldn’t bother if i were you. Having been there it’s a tourist trap and Catholic con job. One comes away thinking how perverse the church is, manipulating the hopes of the pilgrims and accepting their money on false pretences.

Miracles do happen everyday.
Some we ca not see. Our lord is always watching over us.
This Movie brings back alot of Memories...I do believe in Miracles...
I'm blessed to have stumbled across this. What a beautiful and powerful movie.
This is my confirmation Saint. It’s beautiful to see a clean miraculous movie
@@Rodmic-hd9pn I love this movie, watch all the time.
I hope to see her before I die. I love you Lord giving Bernadette to all. Praise God Jesus I Trust in you.
Im muslim but I loved saint mary always all my lufe and I cry always for her.😢
❤
I have watched this movie many times before and I love it so much.
I love this movie seen it many times❤

You'll have your penance when God judges you
A good move or song in troubled times can lift the spirits as nothing else. Bless and be well all.
I wws about 12 years old when i first saw this movie .My Catholic Faith has never wavered .
I believe Oh Lord help Thou my unbelieve.

Ohh ,mother mary ....so meaningful story of sister Bernadith , we love you . BLESS US ALWAYs....
We only pray to the Father in Jesus name
One of my favorite movies. I saw it once years ago on TCM, where they did a “making of the film” segment showing how they built everything on a Hollywood set, complete with grotto and river; it was made during the war (1943), and there was no access to the actual site.
Interesting!
This movie is fresh for all time because holy spirit in there and everyone in around world get blessed.........oh got so wonderful.................
Sweet mother of God, please pray for all human kinds and bring peace amongst all. 🙏
he is always with you a friendly reminder that some are chosen a fantastic cast and presentation of the almighty blessings
I love this movie. Powerful and beautiful. One of my favorite classic movies.
Jennifer Jones is amazing as Bernadette and a young Vincent Price really stands out as well. Great cast for the telling the story of Our Lady of Lourdes.
I’m left speechless🙏 I only wish that I could be one millionth of what Bernadette was🙏🙏🙏
Love flows like air, water, let the truth in...
St. Bernadette had asthma, not cancer.
This is my all time favorite. Blessed are the pure heart.
I saw this movie and read the book as a child. It stays with me 62 years later.
Thank you, St. Bernadette (and St. Therese), I was so sick last week and asked for her help and had relief from the pain quickly. 🙏❤
I was named Bernadette
First time to hear of her glorious work
I suffer from chronic rhinitis and asthma
From now on I will take heed of her glorious work
I am watching this now on the train as I return from Lourdes. What a wonderful place. Sublime in every sense of the word. The grotto was a site to behold. St. Bernadette pray for us! Holy Mother of the Word Incarnate Pray For Us All!
A classic and very great story. One of the best.
This movie makes me cry every time I watch it❤
The way they treated this child was horrific, the Catholic church, the priest, the nuns, its people were very judgemental and cruel hearted.
This is because they're not born again. Born again Christians receive the Holy Spirit and works through people who let him.
I remember when I growing up, how I love this movie. Very heart warming ♥️ ❤️ 💖 💓 great movie 🎬 🎞 🎥
