    Bought one last year. Great for all around mountain riding for speed, control, pow and stable on kickers. No real chatter over 50 mph. Rails well on the carves. Great ollie pop with the camber. Not great for rails and presses but I do some on it anyway. I love the mid with for my size 11s on the 162. Best borad I have purchased in many years. Great if your home hill has some steep and vertical. Super stoked on this board.

      Have you actually GPS’d or used a radar gun to check your speed? I have and was shocked that what I thought was about 60mph was closer to 45mph. I had to straight line down a freshly groomed super long and steep run, early in the morning when the snow was at its fastest to just break 50mph.

    As an east coast rider, size 11.5 boot, and can only afford one board while trying to progress all types of riding, I couldnt be happier with last years Standard! After 51 days of riding, I think these guys got it spot on! I love buttering my standard, it floats well, feels so cool set back and twin, great off jumps, solid at high speeds and powering thru chunder. Love this board!! Loved the review :) send some of that powder our way would ya?

    Love the channel! I'm kind of stuck between the Standard Uninc and the PYL Uninc. I'm pretty much only on groomers, don't do any park and like to cruise and carve, with the occasional small jump. Which would you recommend between the two? Thx in advance

      Thanks! hard to help you decide based on the info you gave about yourself but I could say this. Go Standard Uninc if you like a non-tapered ride and want to be able to weight your turn front footed, center weighted or back footed. Go PYL Uninc if you see a lot of powder and like to carve more back footed on groomers.

    Thank you for the detailed review! In terms of fun, stability and speed, would you say the Lib tech BRD is a better board for that? I'm an intermediate rider living in the PNW. 5'7 155lbs size 9 boot. Currently torn between the 156 BRD and 153 Standard Uninc

      Thanks! So those are two very different boards so very hard to compare. One is an all mountain directional twin with a lot of camber and the other a pretty tapered, set back directional back seat freeride board with a good amount of camber but less than the Standard Uninc. Both are fun, stabile underfoot/track well and both can go pretty fast. I think it really depends on how you would like to ride. I would go to the site and use the comparison tool there to see what works for your riding style better. thegoodride.com/snowboard-reviews/?mens=1

    I'm 5'10, 160, size 9.5 boot. Is the 156 a bit too wide for me? Looking for the quiver killer that won't die out in powder. I like the Uninc construction but I'm wavering between the 153, 156, or just the 156 standard construction. Mostly riding trees , side hits, and park jumps. Not a lot of jibbing these days. Thanks for any input! Currently riding an older TRS 154.5

    • @thegoodridesnow
      @thegoodridesnow  Год назад +1

      I think the 153 Uninc would be the call for a better carver that still floats increadibly well. The 156 Standard will be better in powder but it will turn a little slower and not be as fun to turn. So it's all about what calls to you more.

    I'm down to the standard uninc, basic uninc (hate the graphic though lol), and the burton freethinker. I'm 5'10.5", 180 lbs., size 10 boots. I'm also riding mostly Vermont. Is the basic uninc quicker edge-to-edge? Does the standard uninc have good switch-riding/is it lighter? Which do you think would be best for east coast riding? How does the basic uninc stack up to the free thinker (if you've ridden it)? Thank you for all your help

    • @thegoodridesnow
      @thegoodridesnow  Год назад

      Yeah both will work really well for you. Yeah like I say in the review, the Standard Uninc is a true twin on sidecut so it rides switch really well. Both ride east coast really well and have exceptional grip. Rode the Free Thinker. I like the Basic Uninc better overall but it doesn't have as much pop because it isn't full camber. The Standard Uninc will give you similar pop. You might really like the 156 Standard Uninc.

    Do you recommend to wax and sharpen a YES board from the factory? Picked one of these up for the season and wondering if I need to get it tuned before heading out to the hill

    • @thegoodridesnow
      @thegoodridesnow  Год назад +1

      Definitely wax any board you get. I would leave the edges unless you are very particular about how you like them sharpened. Most will be fine with what comes out of the factory. You could de-tune a little before the tip/tail if you plan to butter a lot but that would be about it.

Bottom line is all three boards are very different so they all appeal to different riding styles.

    Would this be too similar to an older LibTech (directional twin) Goldmember C2 BTX? I'm looking for something just a touch more playful but still has good grip in the occasional icy/hard packed snow like the Magnatraction provides.

    • @thegoodridesnow
      @thegoodridesnow  Год назад

      They would have similar all mountain versatility and edge hold but a very different feel on snow due to the camber profiles. The Uninc will have more of a less catchy traditional camber feel vs the loose auto spinny but more forgiving feel of the Goldmember. The Uninc also has a little more set back on board than the old Gold Member but it needs full sized discs to utilize that set back. You will get a faster base too along with a more deeper/turny sidecut with the Uninc that likes to carve harder. The Gold Member is much more forgiving through.

    How does the float compare when in the setback inserts to the Yes Hybrid in reference stance?
    I ask because I’m taking these two boards to Japan and I’m trying to figure out in advance what depth I should use what board in what configuration etc.
    Such a short trip I don’t want to be faffing about tweaking my board when I can plan ahead.

    • @thegoodridesnow
      @thegoodridesnow  9 месяцев назад

      Hybrid is in another world so use that when its super deep and set it as far back as you can with the limited insert pack you have. It will be great to have the Standard Uninc there too as its very good for a directional twin when set all the way back. It could be fun for more shallow days or groomer time. Or if you are riding steeper terrain and want to get big air this will be better for that. I think that's a great 2 board quiver.

    Might be a bit late to ask this but how does this compare to the korua otto? I got the otto but am looking to get a twin park/freestyle board and this is what I found.. Any comments on these two boards?

    • @thegoodridesnow
      @thegoodridesnow  Год назад +1

      Not at all. You know there is a lot of overlap between the two but they each have a very fun personality. The flex is softer and there is more early rise in the tail with the Standard. It also has a little more turny sidecut and feels closer to a true twin when riding centered. It still is very much all mountain so I wouldn't get this for a twin/park board. This is a direct competitor to the Otto. Instead take a look at the YES Greats, Dicey or Jackpot for a twin/asym twin park ride. That would compliment your Otto better. I would only consider the Standard Uninc if you want to ride pipe or hit big kickers.

      Thanks for your take ANETOKILLE and the good words Jason Bunk. I think if you are planning to see pow out west or with a good storm out east the Standard or Standard Uninc are going to be better. Especially if you have a full sized disc binding to use the set back inserts for easy directional float. Standard Uninc if you are ok with a board that is a little more locked in/technical and Standard if you want something more forgiving but less fun to carve. If you have a board already that's good in pow or just want a twin that can ride switch easier then go with the YES Greats. It's hard to recommend Flux XF because they have no shock absorption. I would keep it between the Cartel X and the Atlas. Atlas has way better adjustability and more response. Cartel has a softer more shock absorbent foot bed. It comes down to which of those two appeal to you.

I want to go 156W or 158 but weight specs say i should go 162. 158 was up to 210 bs and I’m intermediate what do you think I should do? I guess I could always cut weight to 210. Should I go 156W, 158, or 162? Uninc is new to me I don’t know the difference but I’m going to CO this month and I live on the east coast. You mean Basic Uninc? I think the 156w would be the better call for you. the 156w feels like it can handle weight better than the 158. If you are talking Standard Uninc I'm not sure this is the best board for an intermediate and especially in a 162. It is not as forgiving as the Basic Uninc. When it comes down to weight vs. boot size it is often better to go with what best fits your boot size. If the board it too wide it is very hard to turn. Hi more of a technical question. I just got this board but i like riding with a tiny setback. im using the same insert holes(reference stance holes) but on my back binding disc(union atlas) i slid it back horizontally a little bit to make the back binding set back 1/4 of an inch.
    Will this board carve differently or not as well on a groomer because im not equal on inserts? im riding it for the first time in a few days so I wanted to know incase i should just keep the stance centered for groomer carving/turning. Also would this effect how catchy it feels?

    • @thegoodridesnow

      That will work fine. I'd only go centered on sidecut if you plan to ride switch a lot but being set back 1/4" isn't going to feel weird. I've ridden it on the set back inserts on groomers when I was in a more directional mood and it performed very well.

      You could easily do both as it's not a stiff or hard board to turn for your specs. Go 156 if you like lots of control, want to butter more and like to make tighter turns. Go 159 if you want to carve harder, go faster and float easier. Not sure because I don't know what kind of boots you have. If you have a soft sole boot I would pass as they cause pressure on your metatarsal as well as strain your arch and overall fatigue you fast. If you have a stiff sole boot maybe it could work if you don't care about adjustability. If you want to get into it more hit me here to give me the info I need to help you much better. shop.thegoodride.com/merchandise/gear-advice/

    Hey guys, love the in depth reviews. I'll be buying a new board this season and this is high on my list. I am exactly Davey's size (only diff size 14 boots), and curious how the feel compares to traditional big guy boards, like the Magnum or the Skunk Ape? Also, I ride a wider stance than 21.5 and wondering if you shortened your normal stance because it's a wider, more stable platform? Thanks!

      @thegoodridesnow  10 месяцев назад +1

      Thanks!. So the 162 Standard Uninc will be too narrow for 14's. You might want to go to with the 167 Standard instead. Skunk Ape could work too. @@thegoodridesnow Thanks for the reply! The pro model actually has a wider platform so the uninc 162 is slightly wider than the standard 167. With my boot size I know a lot of board specs haha. This isn't Davey. This is James but Davey did like the 162. I don't think he would though if he was size 14. Actually it looks like both 162's are wider on reference. I would probably rule out both then unless you are ok with toe/heel drag.

    I ride in Australia. I'm 5"7 155 pounds. Size 7.5/8 US boot.
    Need advice on sizing for the regular Standard would a 151 be best for hitting the groomers, carving, hitting side hits and some jumps.
    Also looking at the union stratas or Burton Cartel X for bindings. With the unions and their mini discs I won't be able to use Yes setbacks. Any other binding recommendations to go with the regular Yes standard?

    • @thegoodridesnow
      @thegoodridesnow  26 дней назад

      So for bindings go Force. I think that would be best. So not only do they work with set back inserts but you can slide them to adjust your stance width. They also do better with side hits/jumps than the Atlas because of the softer foam. What make/model/size/year board do you ride now and how does it fit you?

      I think the Custom is exceptional for turning and getting air but it is more unforgiving than the Standard Uninc. The Uninc has much better grip and much better float in pow if you use the set back inserts with a full size disc binding. I would get the 156 Standard Uninc as it's a better one board quiver.

    • @thegoodridesnow
      @thegoodridesnow  Год назад

      This is very wide under foot in a 162. Check the in depth review on the site. There is an indention between the inserts and the waist called Mid-Bite so the waist width looks narrower than it is. A 162 will fit most 13's (especially reduced footprint 13's) much better than you think because it's much wider where you mount your bindings. I would call this 162 a true wide that can turn more like a mid/wide. It's fine with your weight as well. If you like a longer board you could go with the Standard 165. It will be longer/wider than the Standard Uninc 162 but it will have a lot less camber though.

      You would probably be best with a 153 Standard Uninc and you are in between sizes with the Shadowban. 154 shadowban will be better for buttering/playing around the mountain and 157 will be better in powder and better for turning, have more speed etc. What make, model and size board do you ride now and how do you like it? That might help me determine what you should go for size wise this time.

      Not sure because you didn't include your weight and height but both should have quicker turn initiation than the 157 Hybrid. I think if you want the same but more turny go 153 Hybrid. If you want less of a tapered directional feel go 156 Standard Uninc but it will be in between the 157 Hybrid and 153 Hybrid for what you want.

      I haven't ridden that so hard to say. Seems like it's in between the Rome Cleaver and DOD. You might like the full disc feel of the Atlas along with all that rubber on the bottom to stiffen up the flex of the Standard Uninc. I'd go Force or Force Classic though if you get a lot of air and like better shock absorption. They will still stiffen up the board but just not make it as damp as the Atlas.

      What is your boot size and height? Boot size is most important when sizing a board and that is the determining factor of what board you should ride. Then weight. Then height but all three should be considered. Then you make compromises from there depending on boot size vs. weight vs. height.
