I noticed that the same thing with heel edge washing out a little on my Standard from last year Even on flatter terrain etc. I thought it was just maybe the rocker section because I've never had a cam-rock profile before. Interesting that this one does it a little too.
This sounds sweeeet.
Damn you and your positive reviews.
I can't afford a board hoard habit.
love your videos. why do you prefer the Standard Uninc to the Greats Uninc?
The ghost lives on!!!!!
Without Tadashi fuse...who mysteriously disappeared and on sims japan
I have a standard and am in love with it. Not going to lie though this board has been calling me name and I might have to leave my baby behind
Will pick this one up through your channel, appreciate the review! PS: You reco'd the LibTech TRS last year, spot on, top of quiver. PS: Weight is right between the 159 and 162. (215lbs) I'd like lower swing weight 159, and I have quite a few boards 160+ already. Boot size 10. Pros and cons appreciated on the size diff.
You can get away with it, it'll just be a bit softer for pressing and won't have as much lock and power when you're on edge.
Top (any brand) choice of binding? If burton, the Cartel, the X, or Malavita? Your thoughts?
There's 3 recommended bindings in every review so...
When I see volume shifted boards, I think *powder board* - but this one seems different. Great review! I'm a cheap-ass so hopefully I can catch one one sale in the spring.
this isn't volume shifted.
@@himboslice_ This board is volume shifted compared to the 1st gen Standard. 2nd gen is mid-wide with the square-ish tip. I had 56 1st gen, 53 and 56 2nd gen. Love this shape.
Great and on-point review! The real question though…. Would Slim Whitman like this board???
It's not rear wheel drive and a convertible.
Great video. Looking to buy a new board to go alongside my Korua Dart, currently deciding between this, Capita Indoor Survival and the K2 Tony Hawk Party Platter. Looking for an all mountain freestyle board that I can ride fairly fast and aggressively - not too bothered about it's performance in powder. Any thoughts on which one I should go for?
Neither. ruclips.net/video/cRFcVmLWTgE/видео.html
Great review. At 170 lbs, size 10 boot and solid intermediate skill looking to progress at carving on the east coast, would you recommend 153 or 156 length?
56 for sure.
I was considering this years Yes typo until watching this review. I’m looking for something that does the job while buttering and jibbing but also is good on the east coast hard pack/ice conditions any opinion on this or any other recommendations?
Typo is a lot easier to butter and jib on.
Seriously considering one of these as a replacement for my 2016 Mercury. I was wanting something similar in what it can do but would be a little happier going switch. The Merc I have had the big set back and still to this day is pretty damn stiff in the tail. You do feel it.
I've got a 2020 Mercury and it rides very good in switch. The setback is very small, I can ride hard carve aggressively switch. Not sure if that's changed a lot from 2016, but just thought I'd share my experience with a newer version. That said the Standard looks great too, couldn't go wrong with either.
@@Tych333 yeah, the later model Mercury got a way smaller setback. It was shortened to 5mm whereas the one I have has 15mm which I know is not a huge amount. It's not like I can't ride it switch. I can, pretty well too. The setback is one thing but the extra stiffness in the tail is another. I'm feel this deck would be a good replacement and more inline with what I want from a board these days. A new Merc would probably still make my top 5 Quiver killers though.
Hey thanks so much for all your videos, it's really honest helpful information. I was wondering which of the two boards: Yes Standard or Standard Uninc you would recommend for a yearly trip to Japan for deep powder and the remainder riding in Australia on groomers and tree runs. I love pop and playing off the sides of runs, a bit of buttering and jibbing. Would you go the Standard or the Uninc?
Standard
Would appreciate any opinions...I went from a 161.5 directional twin Libtech T Rice Goldmember Fundamental with XC2 BTX which was super responsive and relatively stiff, made for just bombing down the hills. As I got older I thought I wanted something more mellower and playful and got a Bataleon Boss last year (similar to the current Evil Twin+). I couldn't get used to the washy 3BT feeling after years of such a responsive edge on the LibTech and especially the magnatraction that saved my ass and gave me way more confidence at speed in hard packed/icy patches. Would a board like the standard uninc be a nice middle ground where it's more playful than the LibTech but still provide good hold or would it be too similar to the LibTech I had?
It's not going to be more playful because it doesn't have center reverse. It's going to feel more rigid and responsive. The nice thing is that you do get added contact points underfoot which grip exceptionally well.
Nice brocephus. Real nice bro 😎
Hi thanks for the video, I have a question about this board and the Basic uninc, which one do you like better? thanks!
Depends.
Thanks for a detailed review. What would you recommend: this or a Capita Mercury for intermediate+ level?
Mercury
thanks 😀
How would you compare this to the k2 passport? And how is the edgehold in icy conditions on both? Cheers
More twin and more camber. Better edge hold on this than the K2.
How does this compare to the regular Standard of 2022? Stiffer, less nimble and less playful and a better carver?
Biggest difference is this is full camber and the regular standard is Camrocker.
It looks like Ghost have a new name in Yes snowboards line
Doesn't ride like the Ghost though.
I can’t decide between the Yes Standard 156, the Captica Mercury 157, Jones Mtn Twin 157 or another recommendation (not Burton) as a quiver killer snowboard. Right now I’m riding a Salomon Assassin 155 which is just a tiny bit small for all mountain but I’ll keep it as a park board.
I’m an advanced 15+ years All Mountain rider 5’10 and 175-180lbs.
Help!
Take your pick of any of those.
With the added width in the nose and tail, would you recommend sizing down? I’m a 9 boot and currently ride the Mercury 59 for all mountain. Thanks!
You can, probably wouldn't.
Thanks for the video. Currently have a hard charging freeride board and Im looking to compliment it with something ever so slightly more playful without losing too much aggressiveness. Ideally would use it for fast groomers/trees/sidehits/180's/360's. Have narrowed it down to the Assassin Pro or the Standard UnInc. Thoughts on the pros/cons between choosing one over the other?
I'd go Standard UnInc, better sidecut for ripping a carve and better overall pop.
@@AngrySnowboarder thanks for the comment. I was wondering how it compared to the Assassin Pro. I have last years Yes Typo. Great board. I was looking for something a little more aggressive this year. This might be it.
Hey dude just commenting your most recent video because I need some help. No matter what, I have always had an issue with my boots and bindings where no matter what adjustments I make to the straps the material on the outside edge of my boots gets like squished and folded over when strapped in. What the fuck am I doing wrong? Will bindings with injection molded straps help this? Or am I just buying bulky ass fucking boots all the time.
This could be any number of things. Could be you're setting the straps up wrong. Could be you're in too big of a binding to the width of your boot. Could be the boots you use.
In!
Thank you for the vid. How does this board fair in Powder? Does the extra setback work well?
Slam those bindings back and go slash some pow.
@@AngrySnowboarder thanks mate
So what’s the deal with UnInc? Is it like Beyond Medals where they change boards each season, or do you think they’ll have another Standard UnInc for next season?
UnInc is basically they're promodel lines.
Any idea what the topsheet durability is like on this? I've got the 2021 jackpot and it's cracking and flaking from the slightest contact. Looks like it's been through a war-zone.
I don't know I don't run into shit when I'm testing.
My 2022 standard has been holding up great, probably have 60 days on it.
@@flyingbison sadly my Typo from last year has a beat up top sheet. I feel like it is more from the lift line than from park features.
I'm 5'10", 180-185 lbs, Burton Imperial 10 (low profile) boots, should I get the 156 or 159?
Dealers choice.
How would you compare this to the Basic Uninc? Camber, edge hold, switch riding etc?
It's more aggressive over all, has a similar edge hold but with more power, it's a twin so you know going backwards isn't going to be a problem if you know how to do it.
@@AngrySnowboarder Sorry you're saying the Basic is more aggressive? Or vice versa?
Standard.
How does this compare to GNU 4x4 and Mercury?
Similar dampness to the 4 x 4 but lively like the Mercury. It's kind of the middle ground between the two.
Thanks for the video. I was really torn between the Standard and Standard Uninc, and ultimately decided on the regular Standard. Just don't see myself needing that extra aggressiveness, especially coming from a K2 Raygun as my old deck. The hybrid camber of the Standard creates a more jack-of-all-trades board which should perform better in deep powder and feel a bit more playful. How would you suggest choosing between the regular Standard and Standard Uninc?
Exactly how you decided on it. Aggressiveness and camber profile.
Thank you for your time and help sir, could you please help me with sizing.? Me: 177cm, 75Kg, 27.5Mondo, advanced rider. I53 or 156? Thanks for a very useful review.
53
Sizing time... I'm 5'11", 185lbs, size 11.5 Nike Kaijus. Was leaning towards 159cm. Thoughts? Or go 162???
Your call.
Why is the 162 so wide? Think it will work with size 10 boots
So you can stomp your landings. Yes
Can you recommend any slightly wider boards that are just as torsionally flexible?
Have you looked at the width underfoot on this thing?
Dust on crust HOW YA DOIN
I have the regular standard and cant decide if I should get a deck to compliment, cus I keep saying - eeh my deck can do that! Its not the tools, its the artist!
I was considering a more playful twin deck that can still handle the all mtn speeds, but can slow down and be a little more butterable for flatground MFM’s and 180’s in and out. Standard does great and dosnt feel catchy, but I have to put my weight really far over nose/tail to get a taller press. I like the spring out tho.
Sorta wanted a full camber just to try that, considered the evil twin+ or fun kink. Or keep the standard as the playful deck and get
something new like the good ol burton custom camber, or huck knife… PYL UNINC DCP…
Im east coast vermont so edge hold is another factor, as well as wide board for 11.5 boots.. standard is the only board Ive ever really ridden so Im not sure if I should keep it as the playful deck and get a full camber. Or if I should lean into my joy of buttering and get more of a noodle side hit stick.
Ty - proud patreon member of you and bombhole podcast lol
Have you checked out the Libtech Box Knife?
@@AngrySnowboarder thanks for that - really liked what I saw. I like the history of lib tech - but overlooked them cus I was thinking of only the t rice boards 🥶😂.
Now its mainly between box knife and PYL UNINC DCP…Leaning box knife based on what I want! Hard choice, but I think I want a more playful compliment and the standard does well at everything the PYL would do for me.
Is it better than the yes greats ?
I wouldn't say it's better it's just a different ride.
How does this compare to the mega merc?
More twin, more camber, stiffer.
Isnt this just a re-badged Yes Ghost they got rid of a couple of years back?
It replaces it.
I got a Donek ad after this 😂😂😂
I love that they pay me to talk shit on them.
@@AngrySnowboarder Capitalism, fuck yeah!
What size should I aim for? 70kg , 12US boot size, 179cm height. Low profile boots ThirtyTwo Tm-2 XLT . Wonder if 156 wouldn't bet too narrow? (slight duck +15 , -3)
32's are not low profile.
@@AngrySnowboarder ouch in my opinion they are relatively low profile :)
Then you've never seen a low profile boot.
I’ve never ridden traditional camber? How’s the transition from camrocker to TC?
A lot easier than going from reverse to full camber.
I own the std uninc it has modern camber. In the 156 there is,like 7cm early rise before the contact point. It rides like Camrock but more locked. Comparable to other camrockers I own...
@@ANETOKILLE nice! I’ll go ahead and pick one up for next season then
@@donvirgo good, make sure your weight is in the right range, at 165lbs with the 156 the torsional flex is demanding and can feel catchy compared to CR., although great for carving. The longitudinal flex (tail and nose) is very good still for presses. in the 156 for me.I will probably size down to 153 next season for a more playful ride.
How does this compare to the Jones Ultra Mountain Twin? Looking for a board that can do it all but my favorite kind of riding is tree runs and side hits.
The camber profile is more aggressive on this as it's not camrocker. Dampening wise the UMT is more damp. On edge I think the UMT grips better and has an easier turn initiation but this board has more power right under foot. If you're doing more tree runs you don't want camber you want camrocker, makes it easier to turn when it gets tight.
@@AngrySnowboarder Appreciate it man! Only other board I'm considering is the Amplid Singular/Singular Twin but I'm waiting for your review to come out first.
@Angry Snowboarder Hey Avran!
Some turd destroyed my 4 day old Rome National this past weekend. Absolutely loved the flex pattern and shape, the feel, but wished it had just a littttle more edge hold.
How would you compare this to the National?
Is there another board you’d recommend?
Would be pairing it up with a K2 Excavator and Rome Katana bindings for a two-board quiver.
More edge hold right underfoot due to the sidecut tech. Little stiffer and more camber dominant. Honestly if you wanted something like the National with more edge hold I'd look at the Ride Shadowban.
@@AngrySnowboarder The angry GOAT of snowboard reviews has spoken!
In all seriousness, thanks again for all the recommendations. It helps out a ton 🤘🔥
How does it stack against Capita DOA?
This is closer to the Outsiders than the DOA. The regular Standard would be more on par with the DOA.
@@AngrySnowboarder Awesome, thank you.
Yes pyl dcp review?
No it’s the yes standard uninc review.
@@AngrySnowboarder Don't be such a douche. You know what he's asking.
Would you recommend the Yes Standard or the Yes Greats? Thanks!
Yes
@@AngrySnowboarder Yes as in both Yes boards are great? 😂
Yes
@@AngrySnowboarder Thank you! 😄
So buying my first board I am 46, 5' 9" 175 pounds don't go in the park just groomed area and pow, want something stable....wanted to get your thoughts on a couple boards thanks
Ride shadowband
bataleon goliath plus
Yes unic
Like you're just coming off rentals and aren't that good of a rider first board?
Nah been riding about 20 years would say intermediate rider
Get the Ride Shadowban.
Thank you very much I was leaning towards the shadowbamd, I seem your top 5 mountains freestyle board and it was your number 1, when I heard you say your knees are shot and you don't like hurting at the end of the day that was me lol so thank you
Can I ask what you recommend for bindings? I get lazy sometimes lol
I have been looking at budton cartel x
I currently have yes basic decade and I love how it rides, but now I am looking for something more aggresive, stable on high speeds, good on carve, but also a board which let me just cruise (cannot bomb whole day:). I ride no park. Is standard uninc ok for my preferences? Any other suggestions? Maybe something from capita? Many thanks for any suggestions
You don't need a twin. This is what I'd be looking at Salomon Super 8, Yes PYL or PYL UnInc, Korua Transition Finder, Gnu 4x4.
Avran, thanks for the answer! Would you add to the list capita mercury or bsod 2023? Thanks!
@@kamilwalczuk1970 BSOD.
Thanks. I am 183 cm, 95 kg, us 11.5 (burton photon). Is 162 right size for me (bsod)? This is 262 waist width. I rather prefer narrow boards, so I’d like to avoid wide version.
@@kamilwalczuk1970 So you like toe drag, cool!
So here is the thing, I want a new board and there isnt really a good reason, my current jones frontier is just fine (50ish days old), but do I stop being a pussy and get the Yes standard uninc or will full on camber kill me? Or do I get the regular Yes Standard with camrocker? At what point do you just go for straight up camber? Id class myself as a intermediate-advanced rider currently. Is the uninc version just that much better of a board compared to the normal version?
I mean, people used to learn on camber its only now you have 923 choices that is not camber.
Or you just keep riding what you have, spend that money on a season pass ride more, clap the board out, then reevaluate next season if it's time to buy a new board.
Would you say better or worse than aviator 2.0?
Different.
@@AngrySnowboarder ok thanks, I’m looking for a hard charging board that’s good all over the mountain and holds ok in ice. We usually go in March so I get a lot of freeze thaw conditions
Which would you go for ?
Many thanks
These your only two options?
@@AngrySnowboarder I guess not. I’d got them two from your reviews but unfortunately I’m adding zero knowledge to the equation. What else would you recommend ? Is there a top 5 for hard charging in the spring review on the way, I know eff all and we can’t demo over here so I’m in your hands
Many thanks
Already dropped the Top 5 freeride chargers I'm pretty sure.
For a rider 72 kg ! Experience rider ! What size ! For all mountain boots 9 US
Something like a 56ish.
