You prolly dont care but if you are bored like me during the covid times then you can stream all of the new movies and series on InstaFlixxer. Been streaming with my girlfriend for the last few days :)
I did too for a lot of years before I got to build it. I definitely catch myself gazing out the living room window at it. Sometimes I have to remind myself that isn’t mine Lol
very nice build ready for extreme situations! all the people saying it's over the top have never been stranded in the middle of nowhere and had a battery die or worse!
Age 66 here. A 2004 GX470 Mint condition shows up on Craigslist. Im literally handing the previous owner cash while he's fielding calls from Colorado begging, ready to get on the plane. Now I see this upgrade. Im in AZ. Im not clueless. They do this down here. There is a God and He wanted me to have this GX.
Love what you have done with the gx470. Just purchased a very clean 2009 and now have many more ideas how to spend more money. Thanks and good job on the video, look forward to seeing more from you.
Great video, camera work, editing, your presence on camera etc. Such a sweet build too. I'm totally inspired. I'v got a 2002 Jeep TJ and my wife has a 2005 4runner. I'm really thinking the 470 will be my next vehicle. I love the entire platform and people like you have proven to me that there's a thriving after market community for these bad boys.
I have a GX too, what a great idea taking out the second row seats and using the third row! I never thought of that. Most owners take out the third row and put them on a shelf forever!
FWIW, 3rd row doesn't have LATCH tie-down. Seatbelts work well enough, but not as secure/safe as LATCH. Considerations and battles, definitely not a deal-breaker.
Great mod but, wouldn't you want the scoop on the snorkel facing the back(the otherway)? You would think if you are traveling off road you would get less dust or dirt going into the intake.
I came across this channel after seeing the new concept vehicle from Lexus, the GXOR. I loved it but since it's only a concept vehicle I did a search for Lexus GX off-road and this is the first suggestion I got from RUclips. Glad I clicked because I loved the build and ideas plus the video and narrating are very professionally done. I've been fixing up a 2001 Cherokee that I use for moderate off-roading but now based on your videos I am really thinking of doing some overland expeditions with the family. I subscribed and look forward to seeing more vids.
I wish i would have bought a gx those years ago instead of a FJ> Decided to go back to shcool , once im out im getting a gx . Thanks for the video. Gracias para todo!
I just missed out on a 2008 gx470 somebody beat me to it stock truck. One owner 159k kilometres 14.500.00 Dam. That’s a great built hats off to you and have great time on your journeys 👍
I’ve owned two GX’s over the last 15 years, and it’s the most trouble free and best built SUV ever to me. Nice build, but with all the quality upgrades kind of bummed to see that cheap snorkel.
993mike haha well I spend my money where it’s most important and to be quite honest there both made from the same material the only difference is a safari is about 300% more. I’ve got a safari on my 80 series and for abs plastic $400 is a bit steep but to each their own I just tend to learn from past mistakes. But I totally agree amazing rigs that’s what brought me to the GX, the luxury of a Lexus but pedigree of a land cruiser.
Is the GX 4.6L v8 aluminum engine as reliable as the 4 runner 4.7L v8 or 4.0 v6. Any thoughts or advice appreciate. Looking at purchasing one of them. How many miles on the your GX and repairs. I assume just because it’s Lexus badge it more expensive than repairs on Toyota Thanks
very clean, would like to see the full packed version with the kids in the back. but definitely an inspiration for my build. the switches on the factory locations, makes everything stay clean and uncluttered. The roof rack and the rear bumper very clean on the outside, looking forward to the trip
TintioT thank you very much. You’ll get to see the packed version this summer when the better weather hits and we get the family out, just starting to come out of hybernation.
Thank you was really looking forward to this video. Its very unique you removed the middle row. I myself removed the third and built a storage box/bed system in the back.
Yeah that was the original plan for us but with the kids and the trailer it seems to work out well so far but the downside is there’s no storage space.
I’ve been considering selling my 2019 Tacoma Trd off-road for a used one of these. There a great looking vehicle and you can find them for a great price. With the extra money I can build one out pretty nice.
Wow Jason that thing is pretty fancy man. Looks like you got it figured out. I also got rid of the 80 series and in the process of building my Tacoma. Looking forward to seeing more videos peeeaaace lol.
Overland 80 oh man sad to hear that I could never part with the ol 80. She definitely been neglected since the princess has been so high maintenance but she’s my first love. Lol. The Tacoma and the GX will be much more comfortable. Thanks for following along.
Outlaw Xpeditions Overland Adventures yeah it wasn't an easy decision but going from 10 miles to the gallon on the hwy with the cruiser to 20 with the Tacoma puts a big smile on my face and it's been nice being able to pass by a gas station on an adventure and not needing to stop and top off lol.
Either is great in fact there almost the same truck obviously the Lexus has a bit more of the creature comforts but good support for both the GX is probably a bit cheaper. What are your deciding factors?
I am picking up a GX470 tomarrow. I have to say my favorite things are the SSO rear bumper swing out and the 33gal Aux fuel tank. To bad looks like SSO doesnt sell that rear swing out anymore for GX470 only the rock sliders which look way more beefy than Metal Tech and cheaper.
Shadowplate yeah agreed SSO keeps talking about a group buy for gx owners. I’d stay away from MT there lots of folks having issues both in quality and customer service. I actually bought their sliders then sold them cuz they didn’t attach very solid. The tank though is awesome almost 700 mile range is a game changer. Good luck with yours!!
Awesome build, I would be happy with half that. Can you if haven’t already give break down of cost of each mod and average installation cost , It would be helpful to determine to go with Used GX vs new 4Runner TRD offline trim. Looking to start over-landing in US Thanks
Jay Burke yeah I looked at it but with the climate controls locked into the entertainment system I didn’t want to risk aftermarket products while traveling abroad. It would suck to not have heat or ac. Lol
I am loving your truck and set up. I was always wanting to overland, but started with utv's which limited how far I could go and carry. I bought 2 lol! After outfitting those things and buying a 26 foot trailer and also a heavy duty truck, I would say I am in over 70k. It didnt last long, I still love it, but you have done what I really want to do. I work hard and sit at a desk most of that time, but i need this in my life. My kids are 17 and 20, boys and we need this to reconnect and get away. My youngest son is pumped about it. Going to find a gx and try to start building at the end of next month. Any pointers you could give would be great. Thanks for the info on the video. Great job!
Finally! Found the truck! I bought the gx460. 119k miles, black, 2010 for 20k. 1 owner. Thanks again, your video sparked this! I hope you guys are well. Gonna start ordering my stuff now. Peace your way.
joseph powers thanks 🙏🏽. Yeah I’ve looked at them in the past but there’s so little support and after market upgrades that it’d make it a very difficult build process.
💥🚀... bravo!... nicely built.. way to cover your bases... have you thought about adding lockers? I think that's the only thing missing... keep on trailin!..🙏🏼🤙🏼👊🏼
R. Sean Griffith it’s got a rear locker we swapped the 8.0 with a locked 8.2 rear end out of an FJ. It just came after the video was shot. Thanks for the kind words
Great video. AWESOME RIG! Sweet film quality and production! What camera are you using? Looks like the focus is a bit off on some shots. Either way still the best GX channel around
Yeah it’s a constant balancing act between weight and preparedness the way I try and think about it is “what is going to keep me from making it to where I can repair it.” that’s how I balance my decisions.
Nice video and great ideas on how you’ve modified the car congratulations. Have you had any problems with the audio on the car? I owned the same vehicle and it is very reliable the only problem i have with it right now is the audio sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn’t but other thant it is a great vehicle.

The fact that you don't have at least 2 million subscribers and 1 million views yet with your editing and story telling is beyond me?!!!
Cristian Damian awe thank you it’s a slow grind baiting in those subs but we’ll get there some day.

Smart call on the long range fuel tank to go with extra water.
Thinking about getting a GX470 which lead me to your video. All I can say is WOW. First class vehicle and video presentation.

Michael Macillicutti right on welcome to the GX family make sure you check out the Facebook group GXOR lots of good info on there

Thanks Garrett Pittman lots of good stuff to catch up on!!
Very cool. But a stock GX can get out there, provide joy, no issue. But this build is epic good.
