First of all, you’d have to figure out which Link was doing the showing up in Soulcalibur 2, and even then, Smash Bros makes the question of when any given Link exists in relation to Earth just about impossible to discern. He lives at the same time as Mario, so does he live in roughly the present? He lives at the same time as Captain Falcon, so does he live hundreds of years from now? He lives at the same time as the Inklings, so does he live thousands of years from now? He lives at the same time as Captain Olimar, so does he live millions of years from now? et cetera
It totally made sense not to include Mario, Luigi, and Princess Peach in Fight Night: Round 2. Nintendo didn't want to see Mario punch someone in the lips with his brick breaking fists and make the person's lips bleed.
That reminds me of how the Switch version of Starlink: Battle for Atlas includes four special characters: Fox McCloud, Peppy Hare, Slippy Toad and Falco Lombardi. The Team Star Wolf is also here, but only Wolf O’Donnell appears without the Red Moon’s DLC. With the DLC pack, not only is the Team Star Wolf reunited, but Fox’s teammates all become playable. I know it’s not an EA game and it released on October 16th 2018, but it still deserves an honorable mention as the first major crossover of the Star Fox series (excluding Smash, of course).
