I was broke and living in a car when this song came out. My life had come to a total stop. This song came on the radio, and it spoke volumes to me. I knew it would be a long way home, to get back into decent living and no longer a waste cake. 50 years later, I'm back home in my home state, and have a home and a family and even a show car. It was a long way home. My next home is Heaven.

I was only a kid when I fell in love with this. My parents listened to it all of the time. After we lost my father in 88 my mother started taking every back road she could find on her way home from work. It was her chance for a road soda and to breath before coming home to reality. I lost mom to cancer in 2018. Now I find myself going out of my way to take the long home Happy Mother’s Day.

This song always speaks to me. My wife and I have made 42 years together but not always easy ones. I owned a business she never seemed to want to understand. It was very successful, after a rocky start. But she never saw that. The words of being on stage and how wonderful that is, only to go home to a wife that used to be so nice and didn't understand really hit home. I saw Roger in concert a few years ago. My wife chose to stay home that night. The song means nothing to her, but has pulled me through on many occasions.

When I was a kid my dad would always take my brother and I on drives for fun. Every time when we would head back home my dad loved to go a different route and no kidding, this song would come on the radio! I really miss those times with dad and I think of him when ever I hear this song.

How music can bring back memories. When i was a kid i was fan and stil am.I must sadly admit i had a bit of a shitty f**ktup childhood, but every time i was sad,i put my headphones on,played my vinyl record ,,Live in Paris" from Supertramp on, their music made me strong and forget my f**ktup time i had at that time...wel for a while though!!Unfortunutly You can't escape the reality for ever.Favorite songs were Dreamer,A Soapbox Opera, hide in your shell,Fool's Overture,Crime of the Century,It's raining again,Child of Vision....wel now that im writing these songs down every song i can relate to,and i find them all even greate songs.I cant say there is 1 song i dont like!Wish to you all Supertramp Fans a great and happy life.✌👊

Hey I lived in Fairbanks AK in the 80's! Came back to the lower 48 in 1991. I loved Supertramp so much back then I used to play Breakfast in America tape all the time, so much so that my friends started calling me supertramp! Not very flattering, but they did not mean it that way so I accepted the nickname. The 3 guys that used to call me that were Elvis fans. I am sorry but I never really liked Elvis, music or movies. still don't. There are maybe 1 or 2 songs I like, not love by Elvis and that is about it. And they would ONLY listen to Elvis. Hell I listened to many groups back then and still do, but Supertramp was always one of my favorites. My music goes as far back as the Beatles, Otis Redding, Procol Harum, Doors, Cream, Stones, Vanilla Fudge, The Monkeys! LOL! Hendrix, Janis, (Saw Janis as well as Led Zep, Cold Blood in concert in the 60's, I was to young but I got in) Zepplin, BB King, Alice Cooper etc. I have a very wide range of music. Never got stuck in the past always moved onto new things. I love to meet people from AK. I went to Anchorage 1 time and had a great dinner at a 5 star restaurant, then went to the Alaska Bush Company. In the recent years I met the guy who owned the Bush Co., he is family to me now thru my daughters marriage to his son. Amazing how small the world can be. Dusty the 2nd.
