My favourite part about reactions to this song. Like 90% stop when Fred started to sing and go something like "what a great voice, I get why I should react to this!" and my brain goes "wait for iiiiiiiiiit" and then they get to Henning and don't even know what is happening to them. Haha. 😁
I think hearing Hennings and Fred’s voice after one another really brings out each tone a whole lot more. They work so incredibly well together and compliment each other!
The Guy with the Super deep voice is Henning May , he is an awesome singer and it always flashes me when he sings.

Henning May could be a world wide super star if there was a record label who's brave enough to introduce a band with mostly German lyrics to the international markets. Entering the USA market worked well for Rammstein. There is no reason it wouldn't work for AnnenMayKantereit too.
For non German speakers, translating AMK lyrics is worth the effort. They usually are deep.
I could be wrong but in the first room was the band annenmaykantereit and in the other room were the members of the giant rooks and at the end thye merged together

I also recommend the songs "oft gefragt", "Pocahontas" and also "Barfuß am Klavier".
Mostly they write sad songs about the life and love, but the voice is always stunning :)

Two most talented bands in Germany, yes indeed! AnnenMayKantereit is my favorite band atm, and has drawn me looking more German artists. They are exceptionally good, and after getting into their original songs I started re-learning German and found so much NEW GOOD MUSIC. But yes, Henning is the shining star & everyone else follows several steps behind him.
Btw.: i saw Suzanne Vega (who original wrote that song) live in the theater hall of the univerity in Bremen at the 14th october 1985 with maybe an audience of a total of 50 people. That was short before she became famous, and at that time only one radio guy here in Bremen was playing her a lot, especially "Marlene on the Wall".

Original Artist is Suzanne Vega. Tom's Diner was written in 1981, but it's been released in 1987.
room 1 was Annen (guitar), May (deep vocals), Kantereit (drums), Huck (bass), Schwarz (trumpet) + Rabe (Giant Rooks vocalist). room 2 is Giant Rooks. room 1 people move to room 2 eventually.

I would suggest some "older" german artitst who are around for decades and still in the charts with their new albums! Like bands who had their first chart hit in the 70s/80s, but still releasing chart hits in 2020+.
That's even better than the Tom's Diner Cover. I also like the original The Police Version, but this cover too.

As you were interested in german hiphop in another video, pleeease listen to 'hurra, die Welt geht unter' from K.I.Z.! Hennig may (the guy with the big voice) is featuring it and it was kind of his break through to get a breader audience. Its a completly different genre, than his other music but its a great colab and the lyrics are great!
Rumour has it that the guy with the big voice is gargling every morning with thumbtacks - just like that 360 pound guy with the long beard you mentioned. 😅

If you're interested in another collaboration of that amazing singer, check out "K.I.Z. - Hurra die Welt geht unter ft. Henning May" but try to get a proper translation. It's in german and I'd say the lyrics are important. (Or just ask me if you can't find anything. I'd be happy to translate)
The vocals are fresh and interesting, but I think I would prefer a more mellow texture to go with that beautiful instrumentation.

🙂the singer from AnnenMayKantereit is much admired for his voice. As far as I know, he was 19 years old when he came to public attention with the song: Barefoot at the Piano. Most of the songs the band plays are composed by the singer. They very rarely cover songs. I personally think the song: Orangenlied and the song: lass kreisen are his best.

😎I would highly recommend KNORKATOR - if you like that kind of music? It's kind of METAL, but many fans just call it the KNORKATOR style. The musicians have been in the business for a very long time and have had music training since early childhood.
The music, as well as the lyrics, are sometimes a bit quirky, but on the other hand, incredibly professionally realised. As a result, KNORKATOR can easily be consumed as METAL on the one hand, but those who want to delve deeper will be offered much more. (Btw., there is even a song in Thai with "Mai khao djai, Khid tyng baan".)
I would recommend the last Album (2023) "SIEG DER VERNUNFT" as an introduction. The album is unusually critical of society. The songs "SIEG DER VERNUNFT" and "TUT UNS LEID" are typical examples of this LP, and it's definitely worth having a look at the lyrics. The song is a cover of Suzanne Vega's Tom's Diner (1987).
This is a collaboration of two German bands: In the first room AnnenMayKantereit are playing and Henning May (deep raspy voice, May pronounced like "my") is their singer. And in the second room Giant Rooks are playing, Frederik Rabe is their singer. A little later AnnenMayKantereit join them. AMK does mostly German songs, Henning can also sing without that rasp, his voice is amazing, but I like Frederiks voice even more. Giant Rooks do English songs, even though they are Germans as well. Bavarian Pop : Handling with Karussell or hab die lang schon nimmer g'sehn. He make music over 40 years. His music was very often in TV / Bayrischer Rundfunk.
Giant Rooks only sing in English, so I didn't mention them last time. They are absolutely my favorite German musician. Even though I only "got to know" them last year when they were the opening act for Louis Tomlinson for his North American tour. I actually had to get used to the voice of Henning May from the band AnnenMayKantereit, as I found it too deep at first! :D Now I like listening to it too!
