After 3-4 days I learned to now hold my bow drawn properly without that nasty sting. Started off a short distance from the target to get familiar with the bow, Then moving further away 10 ft at a time till my sight is dialed in seems to help. Now working from 20 yards to perfect my stance and etc before moving further back to the next pin.

    Hey Sean, great tips on sighting in your bow. Can you explain sight picture for me. When using a bow with a ring around the pins, do you align the peep with the ring and put the pin on the target or do you center the pin in the peep?

    Hi I have a question for you that you've probably already answered at least to some degree in another video. A lot of my friends ask what is better compound or recurve now obviously the compound bow is engineered to be more powerful a lot of Technology went into it. My friends and myself included have wondered about the odd ball bows like compound recurves versus a normal compound bow and this other thing that I have only recently found out about called a double bow I don't think there's a such thing as a compound double bow I think some people wonder if you can mix all of the bows together to make a Super Bowl and I'm not sure if that would even be possible. Again we're asking if the compound bow is still better than odd balls like compound recurves and double bows?

    • @seansoutdoors
      @seansoutdoors  5 лет назад

      Compound bows are the best option for hunting. They are the easiest to get good with and are the strongest of the bows per poundage.

    Do you ever do the tape strips? So you sight the horizontal axis first? Then the vertical axis?

    • @seansoutdoors
      @seansoutdoors  2 года назад

      I do not use tape strips. You can adjust horizontal and vertical at the same time. God bless you

  • @Waty8413
    @Waty8413 5 лет назад

    I think it's important to mention that the sight needs to be leveled properly for your tuning advice to hold true. While what you described will indeed correct the arrow flight while using the only the 20 yd pin, arrow drift will reappear in the opposite direction when the archer attempts to use the other pins if the 2nd axis was not leveled. The sight should first be leveled according to a perfectly vertical bow and then adjusted left or right to match the corrected flight achieved after adjusting the rest horizontally while shooting only with the 20yd pin. If the shooter starts with a sight that isn't level to the bow, he'll likely cant the bow to bring the sight bubble level, take his shots, then adjust the rest in relation to a canted riser. That being the case, movement of the rest will most likely result in worse arrow flight. If that doesn't become obvious while sighting in, it will almost definitely appear when shooting broadheads. A separate video on walk-back tuning probably would be a good prerequisite for this video. The alternative is first getting a perfect paper tune, accepting that it indicates proper arrow flight and then making all sight adjustments, inlcuding 2nd axis, based off impact point.

    • @Waty8413
      @Waty8413 5 лет назад

      One more thing, if the sight doesn't have a 2nd axis adjustment.... well, you'll either get lucky and it'll all work out anyway or the relationship between the arrow flight and pin alignment will always be a frustrating compromise.

    I have an entry-level bow it's a bear Cruzer X. It's rated at 310 FPS I'm getting around 240 with my setup with the three pin site would you recommend I go 20 30 40 or 10 20 30 to make an ethical kill on a white-tail. Where I hunt I won't shoot past 32 yards but in your opinion what would you suggest. I trust your advice that's why I came to you.

    • @seansoutdoors
      @seansoutdoors  5 лет назад

      I would stand at ten yards and sight it in, then walk back to 15 yards and shoot again and see if you are still hitting the same spot, then walk back to 20 yards and use the same pin and see if you are still hitting the same spot. If you are, then you know you can use 20 yards for the first pin. If your arrow only drops one inch at 20 yards, then go ahead and sight it in for 20 yards and if the deer is only ten yards, aim an inch lower and you will be right on the money.
      If you can only get to 15 yards before your arrows start dropping, you could also just set your sight up as 15 yards, 25 yards, and 35 yards.
      You have some options on how you want to do it. Just see how far you can get with the first pin and then go from there.

    Hey Sean, so I’m new to bow hunting and Ive been shooting my field points and now I’ve switched to my fixed blade and it’s hitting low what do i do? Thanks

      Your nock point is too high. Either move it down or the rest up. Do this till field points and broad heads hit same spot then re sight in your bow.

    Many other archers shoot arrows in their videos. Did you mention that?

      There's not much room to argue. Once they've made their choice it's over. They are very inconsistent

    when i look through my sight hole it seems big, I am not sure what I am doing is correct. I just put the pin on the center is that correct because you should shoot the same way every time or should the sight hole align with the outside of the sight and then put the pin on the target???

      Keep the outside edge of the sight housing lined up with the ring inside the peep sight

    What would you suggest if I'm shooting in metres? Should I do 20m 30m and 40m or the yard equivalent?

      I would set it up in meters. If you can shoot from 8 to 20 meters with one pin then set the first one at 20. If you can only shoot to 15 meters without your arrow dropping lower than about 10 meters then set the first one at 15 meters and the second one at 25 meters and the 35 meters for.yhr third.....

    How are the Trophy Ridge React sights? Do they actually work or are they just a gimmick?

      Works well for me. Easiest sight I’ve ever used to sight in.

    I have a friend that is intrigued with primitive technology and he has a question that I was not quite sure how to answer. I'm not really a bow guy but I think it's interesting and would like to learn more about bows I have never performed any type of archery nor have gun on any bow hunts so other than seeing them being made and hearing how well they function I know next to nothing about them. I am practicing Wilderness survival I'm not an expert I'm still learning and learning how to make a bow from raw materials would be interesting to me. I have as far as RUclips is concerned watch videos on how bows made from animal horns were constructed and have watched videos on the construction of natural recurve bows and composite bows. The most recent bow that I have heard of and I do not know how old the technology is is something called a Penobscot bow. My new question that I'd like to ask you is if I was to construct a Penobscot style bow would I also be able to in corporate the recurve and composite technology into it. Also is there really an advantage in a Penobscot style bow over a traditional recurve or composite bow? This question is not asking whether this is better than a compound bow I fully understand now that the compound bow is vastly superior to any of these other bows as far as technology accuracy and power. However I do not think that you could just go out into the woods and in an hour so construct or repair a compound bow from raw materials. So again how viable is a Penobscot bow in a survival scenario and would incorporating the technology of composite bows and or Recurve Bows assist it in anyway?

      Sorry, but I do not work with those kinds of bows, so I can't adequately advise you on it.

      @@sheogoraththedaedricprince9675 Sure thing, sorry I wasn't more help, but I also didn't want to give you bad information by pretending I was an expert on that kind of bow when I'm not. God bless you.
