Hi mate, I’m an English Christian, veteran and ex small arms instructor. The stupid U.K. laws make it really tough to get a rifle any way, but over a .22 long it’s bloody near impossible. Really frustrating as I loved combat shooting and teaching the lads. My father in law gave me an old compound bow and my wife loved it and would shoot it whilst I practised with my air rifle to keep on top of my marksmanship principles. She loved it and I bought her an infinite edge pro for her birthday. I was so impressed I bought one for myself and never looked back! Your videos are awesome mate and really motivating- when you mentioned with pride that you are a Christian and love the Lord, it made me feel amazing! We are small in numbers and being persecuted world wide, but such is the love of God that we will prevail against all odds. Everyone of my Christian American brothers and sisters have a place at my table any time. God bless you and may your family and community be safe and loved. Always a Sapper.
Thanks brother. I lived in London for a year and was surprised by the attitude of anti God and anger toward God. The flip side of that was that all the Christians worked together regardless of denomination. God bless you.
Sean's Outdoor Adventures- thank you for your reply dude. Funny isn’t it, we are thousands of miles apart and can talk at the press of a button. Still amazes me! In England, the demonisation of Christians and the constant mockery has exacerbated exponentially with the import of hundreds of thousands of ‘them’, who block vote in support of one political party- who also hate Jews and Christians alike. This pandering to the most horrific and dangerous cult in history is costing people their lives and destroying families at the hands of serial child- rape gangs, all under the protection of the police and government (couldn’t be called racist could we now?) Winterfest has replaced Christmas in Birmingham and saying merry Christmas gets people looking uncomfortable- not patriots or people from the Hindu or Sikh communities, but every day people that fear ‘them’ hurling abuse and even worse. This has to stop my brother. We can all live together in peace and I truly wish our governments didn’t play divide and rule. But there is a serious and dark undertone to all of this, not just the human tragedy, but the spiritual one too. I left the Sappers 18 months ago and moved to the countryside. It is all the same culture and everyone loves their heritage and community. After a conversation with a stranger, which was so very uncommon in a town or city, saying God bless promotes a smile. I truly love it brother, I honestly do! I thank God and praise Lord Jesus every single day for the opportunity to live in peace amongst my own people and culture- needless to say, the crime rate is absolutely minuscule- zero graffiti and children play without the ever watchful and fearful eye from their parents. I mention this, because I fought alongside fellow US sappers in Iraq and we were truly long lost brothers- our shared cultures and mentality was something we all deeply cared for. The American lads would say a prayer before an operation and I’d wish we had that in our Army. After returning from an op, I’d be drawn to the church (I’d not been christened yet) and thanked God for my safe return. Long story short brother and sorry for the long one, our culture, heritage, morality, law, integrity and so much more- stem from Christianity. We of European descent are the creators of the free world and all its treasures and marvels of technology, medicine, art, literature, infrastructure etc, I could go on. We have so much to thank our forefathers for my brother, but the ‘elite’ are trying to destroy their gift to us by saturating our homes with foreign people and cultures (as you saw in London, the vast majority HATE white people and if they knew you were Christian and proud you could be in trouble) and have the media call every white man evil and responsible for the worlds problems. I say this because unless something happens and soon, the people are going to fight back, Europe is a tinderbox and the EU is finished. Globalism has tried to destroy white Europeans and we are waking up to it. I’ve never been a racist and never will be, but come into our countries, respect your hosts and be grateful. Again, I apologise for the rant mate- I just don’t want the kind and brave people of the USA being subjected to the same fate as us. Almighty God in heaven, protect my people, my Christian brothers and sisters abroad and at home- and please stop the evil synagogue of satan genociding our race. Give us the strength to raise the flag of freedom and give us the strength also to put on the armour of God. Amen
@@mikeyengland6363 Amen to your prayer. Also, it is definitely neat that we can write from across the pond with the click of a button. I can relate to the undertones you spoke of. Thankfully, it is not as bad here in the USA.
Had the bow set up at a pro shop. It performed just fine ruclips.net/user/postUgkxQEKUoxLWwayEDZR0NKB-5limn4MBU-2L . And I would say this is a good starting now that I could pass down to my son when he is older. But the package was missing the release and a nock was missing from one arrow.Dealing with customer support was terrible. They suggested I buy a new release rather than correct their own quality control issue because it’s to expensive for the. to ship it out from China.Update: manufacturer got back to me and resolved the issue. I retract the above statement.
I've been shooting for a long time and tested out that middle finger trick...so far its been huge to stabilize the bow and maintain a level grip. Keep up the good work Sean!
Thank you for being confident to say you're a Christian, it encourages me when I see someone do that. It seems to be harder to do than it was when I was a kid. Very sad. Keep it up! :-)
Just bought a Browning Explorer II and getting the string replaced today. I have 2 crossbows but I have never shot a compound bow. I figured I would just wing it and learn the bow but this is very helpful. Im not using for hunting, just recreational target shooting (for now) Thank you for taking the time to make this instructional video!
As a beginner I liked how descriptive this was. All the other videos I tried watching were just "draw it back, make sure the arrow is on the rest, and release" and didn't help much. After watching this I feel confident enough to take my first shot. Thank you. I will subscribe and watch for more tips.
Sean....Very good solid advice for beginners. I would not teach beginners to do what I do but I hold the bow lightly in my hand , almost floating in my thumb crotch as you described but I curl my index finger around the bow grip, again barely touching it, if at all, until the index finger contacts the tip of my thumb and completes the circle. The bow itself is held in place in the thumb crotch on the draw cycle by way of the backward pressure on the draw. In my experience this has completely eliminated bow torque as the bow will "float" naturally without any pressure applied finding its own "center". ...but that is just me...not for everyone. Your teaching style transfers easily to new archer's in that there is no "fill" as in (when I was hunting for Elk with my three friends and six pack mules") in your descriptions and every word holds your attention to the point you are making. You are a "TEACHER" Sir gifted with the mannerisms and light hearted seriousness that you convey to the aspiring. A personal note outside of archery....I will be locating my permanent marker poste haste to inscribe on my grand daughters and my own fletching because in all honesty who am "i" without HIM.
This is so helpful I used to be really into archery and I own my own compound bow. I’ve recently been trying to get back into it and this is amazing advice
Excellent video. Returning to the hobby from 25 years ago, and just bought a new bow and took a couple of lessons. You solidified a couple of questions I had, and I KNOW my stance was not correct. Can't wait to hit my range again tomorrow to true it up.
Awsome video...bought a compound bow few months ago and by watching this video helped me learn the basics and fundamentals...I recommend watching all of Sean's videos....Thanks Sean...

Absolute brilliant delivery of fundamental information with the capability of significantly improving one's safety, accuracy & confidence during the critically important beginning period of bow hunting . Liked & subscribed.
my wife and I are new to archery and we spent many hours watching videos and researching data pertinent to what we would enjoy as new bowhunters, and being that we are avid hunters we've embraced archery and look forward to honing our skill sets to be able to bow hunt as well as enjoy practicing target shooting, having said all that I shoot daily working on the basic 5 fundamentals of shooting a compound bow, the time spent before actually having a bow (we both now have 2018 Bear Cruzer G2's for the last month) was invaluable in implementing the proper body mechanics and reiterating the need to focus on those all important fundamentals, just wanted to extend our gratitude and appreciation for your efforts, bless up eh for the gift that is each day! 8^)
This is absolutely the best video I’ve found and I give this video credit for my success today. I’m on target at 80 yards and splitting arrows at 20. I share this video with everyone I know wanting to get better at archery. Thanks again!

You're absolutely correct in what you say Sean. All beginners should learn from your video to become an accomplished archer. When beginners started off with heavy poundage bows they will have difficulty practicing the correct grip. Thanks to your video they will learn to do the correct thing.

Great video brother. I’ve haven’t shot since I was a teen and have been thinking about it since following Joe Rogan’s podcasts the last few years. I’m of First Nations background and have always felt, it’s the truest form of hunting, and I can honour the spirituality of the hunt and the animal. I’m excited to learn as much as I can and find a bow suitable to my needs. 😉🙏🏼🇨🇦 Keep up the great work.
Good lord what an amazing gift it would be to have a bow set up by you. I don’t have the knowledge and mainly the equipment to do EVERY thing by myself. But to see a fellow archer that is so obsessed with detail as much as I am is awesome. I can only imagine what kind of beautiful compound bow could be created with your knowledge and attention to detail. I would do anything for a chance to own a bow you put together. God bless you man! Thanks for all the knowledge you’ve given me!
I'm a Christian and Jesus Christ is my Lord and Savior as well. I'm a very big gun enthusiast and I hunt. However due to the current situations were facing I've recently taken up bows. I've watched many vids and I find you have explained the fundamentals the best! Thank you for your time brother!!! God bless
Seeing no negative comments but dislikes on this video. So dislike with no explanation? I’ll be hunting for the first time this year and I feel so much more confident after watching this! Thanks!
Thanks a lot for this video, I recently got my first compound and I'm looking to get better at it. These are great tips and I subscribed to your channel, as a fellow Christian I can expect to get good, honest advice. Thanks again!
@@seansoutdoors God bless you too, Sean, and keep up the great content for beginners like me! I do have one question, I got a secondhand Browning from someone taller than me. At full draw, it comes past my ear. Do you have a video explaining how to customize the pull length? (Forgive me if I'm misusing any terms)
@@captainjackknife5817 Each brand has its own way to adjust draw length, and some do not adjust for it. You need to check with the manufacturer to see how it is done.
I'm an avid muzzle loader/gun hunter that has always been intimidated by bows. I don't have many friends that hunt and no one that bow hunts. Without Sean's videos I don't think I would have started. I'm totally hooked and shooting well. Also dusted off the good book and started reading scripture again. Thanks Sean for all you do!!!
Hey Sean, glad I found your site. Got into bow hunting many years ago, but haven't had the opportunity to do so for a few years. Your video was a nice refresher. I use an early model Bowtech ... a 2006 Tribute...and love it.

Sean's Outdoor Adventures ok I bought a compound bow today none of my arrows that I use with my recurve fit in the rest They get caught in the brushes on the rest and won't go down range
Sean's Outdoor Adventures I don't see how any arrows I've seen would be able to fit through the rest unless the fletchings are about a 8th inch the passage is small also its one of the hostage rests that ive seen reviews on but never seen a review of them in use or attached to a bow so they might just be poorly made
Awesome and educational videos, I really enjoy watching them so I become more consistent. I also have my daughter watch and shes 8 cause I want her to learn the right way; we love Bow shooting and GOD BLESS you and thanks for sharing.
Just bought an older compound bow for my 13 yo boy that's never been shot and is at least 10 years old. Its an Alpine. Took it to an archery shop and they said it was ok without ever even pulling it back. (I've never used one). I've heard the string needs to be waxed. I presume that is something that can be done myself. My family Loves the Lord too so it's cool having a bro with a channel like this. GBY and Merry Christmas!!!

Making a "true" connection with my teenage grandson is my goal. When they are little, it is easy. Teens get drawn to their piers. So he is interested in bow hunting, competition, and backyard target shooting. I am wanting to learn as much as I can, so I can be on the same page. I also want to get him more interested in reading something he likes and draw him away from the "screen" of a cell phone, Ipad, etc. Your video is the first I have watched and was thrilled to hear that you are a Christian, I learned a lot already. Yeah I got my first compound bow and I actually came here to make sure I'm supposed to release at the very end of the draw. It felt a little odd with the let off as I came from a recurve. I'm glad I've been doing a lot of things right and I'm even more glad that I use the "finger resting"bow grip as opposed to gripping it like it's a .44 magnum. Sadly I did do something wrong. I used the wrong arrows. They ended up being waaaaaayyyy too weak for my bow and actually broke into three pieces. I'm glad nothing else got damaged, but my string derailed. Thanks for the information and keep loving Jesus brother!
seansoutdoor I just got into archery and got my first compound bow this past week. I have some back issues and sometimes have a trimmer in my left hand do you think a single adjustable sight would be better for me?
seansoutdoor i was told you can use only one type of arrows for recuve and compound bows. Can you use compound arrows for recurve bows or dose it matter?
seansoutdoor so since i can't use 30 pound arrows on a 30 pound draw weight what can i use? and fletches on my arrows are like this foam material. God bless you
I am very thankful for you showing how hand positioning is supposed to be. I am a beginner in archery and was taught to have my hand open but after seeing that picture I am definitely changing my ways.
Thank you for the video. I don’t hang out with many archery friends anymore so I really appreciate the refresher and insight. I look forward to seeing more of your videos!
Great, please make sure you wear an arm guard when you shoot! Trust me on that one. Just about every beginner hits their arm with the string and it can really hurt and leave a black and blue mark. God’s blessings on your efforts.

Great video Sean. Just watched your video with my boy's who are 9 and 11. They both have been shooting for about 3 years. You provide some very good tips. I just started shooting myself a little over a week ago. I purchased a Bowtech Carbon icon. I am very happy with it so far. I have taken heed of a lot of your advice and it has seemed to help a lot. Keep the videos coming. It's also great to hear your a brother in the Lord. God bless you.
You have what is called a single cam bow. These are good for beginners because they typically have a smooth draw cycle and also do not require as much tuning maintenance. The 1,2,3 is most likely three different draw length settings.
I would highly recommend the books if anyone is at all interested. The videos are great, however, there is something about being able to quietly contemplate technique that RUclips is not able to capture. Another great video Sean, thank you.
@@seansoutdoors Well roll on through Brother and may the grace of our Lord stay with you. I bought my son a compound recently and this video was great, very helpful. God Bless you and your family.
Sean thanks for the great tips man I improved my shot just by holding the bow the way you showed it allowed me to really zone in on the target and group my shots Damn near paper thin apart and on mark. Not shooting w my pointer finger out made the difference these guys at the archery shops were saying I should have my hand opened on the grip of the bow and my shots were inconsistent and when I did what you said here my shots were dead on immediately thanks bbrithet keep the good videos coming and good luck this season now I'm more comfortable going into my 2nd season

Ok wow I can already tell I’m going to have do a repeat watch of this. I’m loving your channel Sean, it’s a treasure trove of information. I got the diamond SB-1 a couple weeks ago based on your videos, I had never shot a compound bow before so I’m just learning and these are some great tips that I’ll have to practice. The first few times I shot the bow I couldn’t even hit the target and I was really discouraged, and finally realized it was because I didn’t even know to use the peep site. Now I’ll have to add those multiple touch sites too. I’ll have to see if I can hold the bow like that, I don’t know if my arms are strong enough yet to hold it with just my fingers
I have watched your videos with focus and thank you very much! I am new to archery and am using your video as a guide to get started! Thanks so much for sharing your knowledge!

I've been shooting for a long time and tested out that middle finger trick...so far its been huge to stabilize the bow and maintain a level grip. Keep up the good work Sean!
Thanks
Best beginner compound bow video I've found. Thank you!
Thanks so much! God bless you
Thank you for being confident to say you're a Christian, it encourages me when I see someone do that. It seems to be harder to do than it was when I was a kid. Very sad. Keep it up! :-)
You are welcome, and thanks for watching. God bless you.
I'm glad it helped
@@seansoutdoors Yessir
As a beginner I liked how descriptive this was. All the other videos I tried watching were just "draw it back, make sure the arrow is on the rest, and release" and didn't help much. After watching this I feel confident enough to take my first shot. Thank you. I will subscribe and watch for more tips.
Thanks, James. I'm glad this helped. God bless you
Sean....Very good solid advice for beginners.
Thanks God bless you
This is so helpful I used to be really into archery and I own my own compound bow. I’ve recently been trying to get back into it and this is amazing advice
Great I'm glad it helped. God bless you.
Excellent video. Returning to the hobby from 25 years ago, and just bought a new bow and took a couple of lessons. You solidified a couple of questions I had, and I KNOW my stance was not correct. Can't wait to hit my range again tomorrow to true it up.

my wife and I are new to archery and we spent many hours watching videos and researching data pertinent to what we would enjoy as new bowhunters,
and being that we are avid hunters we've embraced archery and look forward to honing our skill sets to be able to bow hunt as well as enjoy practicing target shooting,
having said all that I shoot daily working on the basic 5 fundamentals of shooting a compound bow, the time spent before actually having a bow (we both now have 2018 Bear Cruzer G2's for the last month) was invaluable in implementing the proper body mechanics and reiterating the need to focus on those all important fundamentals,
just wanted to extend our gratitude and appreciation for your efforts, bless up eh for the gift that is each day!

Great advice Sean! Good news was that your friend's blood was bright red and plentiful, which probably made tracking himself easier.

God bless you man! look man, i never post comments, in fact this is my first. i started archery a little over two months ago, i got an older bowtech mighty mite. i WAS having trouble with accurate and consistent groupings due to my grip. i was shooting open handed, and i changed it to how you showed us. First group of 5 @ 20 yds i was breaking nocks how close together they are now. I only shoot 3 arrows now between 20 to 40 yds. Thanks a million, truly great vids, along with the others youve made. liked and subscribed
That is great! God bless you!
For beginners, if you're right handed do you use left or right hand to hold the bow? Does a drawn arrow fire from the inner or outer side of the bow?
You hold the bow with your left hand, and the arrow goes on the side closes to your body when you pull back the bow. So that would be the inner side.
I'm right handed and hold the bow with my left hand.
Making a "true" connection with my teenage grandson is my goal. When they are little, it is easy. Teens get drawn to their piers. So he is interested in bow hunting, competition, and backyard target shooting. I am wanting to learn as much as I can, so I can be on the same page.
Glad you were not hurt. The arrows were so light it the bow acted as if it dry fired. Be safe. God bless you
