    An excellent primer for beginners, and a good refresher for those of us who only occasionally shoot our recurve bows.

    Great instructional video Sean, thanks!
    I have been bowhunting with a compound since the late 80s and actually shot the old fiberglass recurves as a youth in the 70s, so I've always had an interest and actually had an old bear grizzly passed down to me in the 90s that the limbs ended up warping and then cracked, so I was without a recurve for a number of years up until about 6 years ago when I purchased a PSE takedown and did minor shooting but never hunted with it since I want to be more proficient.
    Recently, I picked up a new Bear Grizzly recurve and will be target shooting with that and hopefully get good enough to hunt with one day.
    But even after all these years I always pick up extra knowledge and tips by watching your videos. Thanks!

    Ive been subbed to you for years and this is the first video ive had of yours pop up in my subs in the past 6 months. Noticed it with a few other channels too.

      Thanks for sharing. I have many people write to me telling me things like that or that my channel keeps disappearing from their subscribed list without them knowing why and then they can't find my channel. Sounds a bit strange to me on RUclips's part but I guess it is what it is. All glory to God either way. Thanks for watching and sharing. God bless you

    Sean
    This is just my opinion by recurves should be shot instinctively. The old throwing a base ball process. You don’t aim a base ball when you throw it, you learn from trail and error.
    God bless.

    • @seansoutdoors
      @seansoutdoors  Год назад +1

      I enjoy instinctive shooting too, but I'm not of the opinion that it hase to be done that way. I like to leave room for people to practice archery in the way they feel personally compelled to practice it, even if that means using a sight and taking that approach. To each his own, I say. Thanks for watching and God bless you.

    Hey brother.. That's awesome. We have the same draw length, so 32" length on the arrow should give a proper anchor.. am i thinking correctly? I think i will get myself one of these bows, too

    • @seansoutdoors
      @seansoutdoors  Год назад

      Yes you are correct. And I'd personally get feather fletching if I was buying arrows but that's just me. Depending on the draw weight you may need a different spine if you go much higher in weight. I think this came with 500 spine and it seemed to be good for the draw weight.

    How come you gripped the compound bow tight, but keep fingers loose on this recurve bow ?

    • @seansoutdoors
      @seansoutdoors  Месяц назад

      It is a relaxed grip for both. Never grip the bow, just let it rest against your hand. It may appear differently to you, but it is likely more related to the differences in the construction of each grip. Recurve grips are very different from compound bow grips.

    Aren’t you supposed to move the sight pin to the left if it’s landing right of the target

    • @seansoutdoors
      @seansoutdoors  2 месяца назад

      No, move the pin in the direction of error. If it is hitting left move it left.

    Can you ballpark investment in a beginner bow if you’re not sure about getting into it big ..

    • @seansoutdoors
      @seansoutdoors  Месяц назад

      I would say you can expect to spend around $120 US Dollars for a recurve setup.

  • @benthecaptain7419
    @benthecaptain7419 Год назад

    But I don't have a sight on my recurve! I've been more consistent with 3 fingers under and using the arrow almost like a shotgun barrel. I've been told this is not typical but an option.

    I wish I had your number to contact you I do have your email I had a question if I put a better string on my dragon x 8 do you think that I can get closer to 70 lb draw on it right now with the factory bowstring it's only 63.58 lb a bow shop in my area said if I put a different string on it I can probably get the 70 lb weight wanted your opinion

    • @seansoutdoors
      @seansoutdoors  Год назад +1

      No they are incorrect. You can only get 70 pounds at the longest draw lengths. As you decrease draw length the peak weight goes down.. I have a review video where I show what the peak weight goes to at each draw length. If anything you can add twist to the cables a little to increase the draw weight but you don't need to buy new ones for that. You can email me through my website.
