That is awesome transferring the line of sight to arrow check line on the face to that of the peep to shaft at full draw ,i really learnt something there ,thank you
Thanks again, Mr. Dudley! Glad to leave you a comment, always appreciate your videos. Taking up the bow in the last two years kept me sane and I found a really great community of people. All the best from CA!
John, Thanks you for everything that you have shared over the years on how to properly setup, tune, and shoot a bow. Three years ago, I borrowed a bow from a friend that took me whitetail hunting for the first time, and that year and I tagged my first deer. Fast forward to today, I now refurbish and build my own custom bows, hydrodip and make graphics, build my own arrows, make my own strings and cables, and tune everything myself! I can truly say that I wouldn’t have acquired half the knowledge to do any of that without your help through sharing your knowledge. Now I’m completely hooked and can’t stop launching arrows. This has also turned into a full family hobby/sport for myself and my young kids. I can’t thank you enough, sir! Your dedication to sharing knowledge is appreciated more than you would ever know. God bless you and your family!
Man, thank you so much for the kind words! I am so pumped to hear where your archery journey has taken you. That is amazing and there is nothing like being self-sufficient. Keep up the good work and thank you again!
Greetings from Texas…. I wanted to say thank you J.D. for all of your videos that you post. They have helped me so much in my archery journey as a home bow mechanic and bow Hunter.
i just got new bow other day, this going to help me get it better set up, im partially disabled need try get outside shoot some targets to try get some anxiety out of my system. thanks for your time, will be trying to get a nice release one day,
Really useful, thanks. I had my bow setup having never shot one before! So when they were asking me if I thought it was in the right place I was just guessing. There wasn’t even a sight on the bow so I wasn’t sure what I was looking for!!! Wish I’d seen this video before I had it done 🤦🏻
John, once I found your channel I have been swallowing up your training videos like crazy. I got my first bow about a month ago and have found your teaching to be the most useful, by far. I now use your 6 step process each time I pick up the bow. One question regarding peep height. Can you get that vertical measurement by measuring the distance of your pupil to the space between lip and chin with a ruler in front of a mirror? Thank you for sharing your knowledge with us.
Wow, i wish i came across this video earlier. Some shops really dont know much or are no help and i had to come up with the solution myself but this video really does explain everything well
Was just thinking about this recently as I noticed unnecessary neck strain when I’m done shooting. I’m noticing I’m having to tilt me head down to make sure things are aligned. Just a tiny bit off but this video is very timely.
Gems of wisdom for someone that hasn’t shot a peep sight in 15 years. Now with new bow it seems like I’m starting all over learning to get comfortable with using a peep. Thank you
Great video! Just got my first bow setup, and we shot quite a bit until my peep and form seemed just right. I've since been practicing at home, and my peep seemed off. I wasn't sure if it was my form causing me to be off, or the peep. Now I have some things to check next time I shoot my bow. Going to Setup my camera when I shoot tonight. Thanks.
Hey John thanks for the videos, I'm trying to learn over here in Australia and have just received my first compound bow! There isn't much stuff over here in the way of archery shops and stuff it's all very limited where I am so I'm coming to your videos for help. Please keep them coming :D
Always enjoy the information you share and explain! I don't know your experience or the amount of information you have on good practices for those that shoot with fingers on a compound. I'm sure we're in the few minority as releases seem the way to go for most but I'd be curious on your thoughts and maybe a video talking point?
I really need to check my peep. So many so good videos thanks!!! It would be so much nicer to watch these videos if you would have better microphone, now its like phone quality and hard to listen. Or maybe the mic is good enough but room acoustics makes it sound like only mid frequences.
I moved my peep down and found my 30 was crazy low after shooting 20. This is the exact video I needed to see if what I did was correct. Thank you (it wasn't)
Thank you John for the great teaching videos. Could you make a video of your shot trainer. I purchased it to practice my anchoring position and surprised shot with back tension. I would like to know if I am using your shot trainer properly for the most benefit. Thank you, Tim
I would love to be able to sit down with you for a day just to pick your brain and have you check out how I shot bc I feel like you would make me a better shooter in a day compared to wat I can do for myself in years lol, plz keep up the great work your amazing
Any recs with regard to slider sights. Set up peep with front sight around 40-50ish? If you set up at 20 will be hard to see when slider is down to 100?
I just bought the embark . My local shop sent me home with everything wrong . Timing out peep and d loop twist d loop is on the wrong side im a lefty . What do i do go back to that shop i have no other shops within 3 hours
I keep struggling to get my bow up to get my pin on the target. After an while my bow shoulder fatigues and accuracy falls off. PLEASE help, thank you.
Hi John. I am really struggling with my peep position. I have a long draw say about 31-31.5". I have the nock on embark so as you know the draw length on it is only 30.5" max. In order to have perfect position (corner of my mouth and nose tip) of the string on my face i have to bend my bow arm. If i keep my bow arm straight my anchor point moves forward on my face. The problem is that the peep moves further away from my eye. This makes the peep seem smaller and thus the sight dont fit. The sight is forward as far as it can be (cbe tactic). If i take a peep one size bigger, it is far too big. So i tried moving the peep lower on the string but this cause me to move my head down to make nose to string contact to see through the peep. As said in your video, this is not good at all. I move the peep back to where i dont have to move my head and i cant align my sight with the peep. How do i fix this? Do i have to get special cams or is there a simpler way to correct this? Can i dril out the peep (composite)? Is there over size modules that i need? I dont want to shoot with a bent bow arm to see properly through the peep.
Hi Gary - Personally, I am not a nose button or kisser button fan. For sharper string angles the draw length may need to come back a little further and use a slightly smaller d-loop to make up the difference.
Think I’m having the problem with my peep size. Got a bow 10 years ago. Haven’t shot my bow for the last 6 years due to life. Picked my bow up two days ago and shooting all over the place
Dudley has forgotten more than I’ll ever know about archery. Such a huge help that you’re willing to share so much🙏
That is a correct statement.
Thanks for the kind words. I'm learning every day. Glad it is helping you!
should've seen him back in his comp days, dude was a MONSTER
All of these are incredibly helpful John , as a new comer to archery , it’s a minefield, these are super easy to understand and digest . Thank you 🙏
So pumped you have found archery! I am glad these have been helpful for you. Be on the look out. A lot more headed your way! Keep up the good work!
So many great tips in this video that didn't necessarily have to do with peep height. Thank you.

Another golden nugget from Mr. Archery himself! Thanks for all you do for us and keep up the hard work. 👍
Thank you! NOCK ON!

I like how in depth your videos are, very well explained as usual 😁
Really useful, thanks. I had my bow setup having never shot one before! So when they were asking me if I thought it was in the right place I was just guessing. There wasn’t even a sight on the bow so I wasn’t sure what I was looking for!!!

Switching to a new bow, this was a good reminder. Getting that arrow to peep distance is key.
For sure! And, once you have it, you will always have it since it will remain consistent from bow to bow. Good luck!
@@nockonarchery my peep to arrow height is identical to you… so I got the that going for me 🤣

Super useful. So much in this video I need to unpack and work on.
Glad it was helpful! Good luck.
So much detail! Best videos available!
Measuring the distance from peep to center of arrow is a game changer when you shoot multiple axle to axle bows at 31.5" draw!
Great video! Just got my first bow setup, and we shot quite a bit until my peep and form seemed just right. I've since been practicing at home, and my peep seemed off. Great structured explanation of best practice and motor skills as ever! Thanks John! 😊🏹🎯
Love your you tube coaching videos
I'm shooting compound for the first time and having trouble with opposite eye dominance. Any magic tip? Great vids.👍🎯❤️🇺🇸

John's the man.
Actually, Bill's the man. Thanks, brother.
Can you do a video on how to get rid of peep rotation
What if nose does not contact string without tilting head forward?
Same question here, I have to tilt head forward to get my nose on the string..
Peep perfection with a handful of hair love it.

Isn’t sight alignment dependent on the yardage set on the slider?

Glad you enjoyed it!
Are supposed to use your level when using the peep or no
Great video man ! Thank you !
Glad you liked it! Thanks!
How does peep height correlate to your sight housing? If you move the peep sight down, does the sight housing go up or down?
The teaching videos are awesome. Thank you
Glad you like them!

If tipping the head slightly is needed to contact the string, would you recommend using a nose button?
Hi Gary - Personally, I am not a nose button or kisser button fan. For sharper string angles the draw length may need to come back a little further and use a slightly smaller d-loop to make up the difference.
Very informative 👍
Looks like a sneak peak on the grip of that bow.

Height. Not heigth. Heigth isn’t a word. So many people get this wrong. Length has a th. Length has a th. Height has an ht, not a th.
