Happy Christmas Ade and msny thanks for the video. Just a thought you will also require a cross slide lock that will be on the gib side and the carriage lock will prevent access to it.
Marry Christmas to you and your family. Thank you so much for all the videos you make, thank you for your time and knowledge. And I hope you have a great new year. Cheers.
Hi Ade. I have a mini lathe which doesn't have that cut-out on the right side of the saddle. It had a carriage lock already installed using a counter sunk allen bolt. Yours obviously does the same job. Well done. Best wishes for Christmas. Cheers Nobby
Merry Christmas to you also. If you watch joe pie's video it will show you how to eliminate the heavy burrs. Make the first cut on the leftside with the bit going to the left and the next cut on the far righr with the bit going right the finish the rest in the middle of the cut. You will not get the heavy burrs on the sides.
I think you already have a carriage lock. look at the saddle lower left hand corner. On my lathe which looks identical to yours there is a grub screw. If you tighten that grub screw it should lock the carriage. The problem you will have if you use the T-Nut lock type is the under side of the lathe ways will become uneven over time and if you need to use a tail stock it will be a bother. But if you prefer the T=NUT typer of carriage lock more power to you. BTW, love what you're doing to this mini lathe. KOKO!
It does have the grub screw as you said. my issue with that is when using it lifts the saddle upwards away from the bed by design . this can cause rigidity issues when parting etc. I suppose there is no correct answer to how to do this but it turned out ok. Cheers Ade.
Just another comment! Be sure to place the screw that tightens the T-Nut does not get placed too close to the cross slide gibb adjustments screws. It can be very annoying if that happens. Ask me how I know?
'Appy 'Olidays to you and yours, Ade! Keep on chugging along, At 20:00, is there some sort of magnet or magnetic spot in your vice that's picking up that "spiky stuff"?

Does that grub screw damage the ways ?
I haven't noticed any damage to the top of the v-way.@@kimber1958
