As always, a nice video showing the work of a craftsman. Who hasn't cut the wrong half, drilling through the entire piece instead of making a blind hole.....? I see it as a reminder to lower the nose... Looking forward to see how and when it's used.
Keep an eye out for Postman Pat, there may be some Sherwood countersinks coming your way (I needed some more bits to make free shipping anyway). I'll post them in a couple of days.
I made one of those but i changed it a bit and while experimenting made the body from nylon to test the changes. I incorporated a fine feed which tirned out quite nice and seems a little novel in design. I should explain since second retirement my hobby seems to be trying to make the "perfect" dti holder and since that is an unachievable aim i will never run out of things to make.😅 Edit PS nylon actually works, although meant as temporary, being stiffer the the dti stylus spring. Edit 2 like you i try to use one size collet as much as possible and have settled on 20mm, so i had to enlarge Stefan's plans hence the trials with nylon.
Ciao Ades, this is Alberto from AB-SHOP Italy, i have started to watch your channel and your projects !! Very interesting jobs Ades, i have something from your country in my Workshop that i use for my videos, it's a Colchester Bantam Mk1 Lathe, in wonderful conditions, it's a fantastic lathe!! A big Ciao from Italy, Alberto.
Hi Ade. If you run out of room under the spindle you could try my simple 20mm high low profile holder that simply clicks onto the spindle. If you are interested, search for - 20mm high DTI holder with 200mm extended range. Hope you like it, there are other variants on the channel.
Functionally equivalent to Stefan's design should be your trademark for this one. The end result is what matters. Also you missed an opportunity to use the Alexander 2CG to make a dovetail cutter :-)

That's a very interesting build. With some challenging setups.
Hello Ade, that was a clever example of the use of an adjustable parallel. 👍
Ade, this is a fantastic version….. Bravo 👏
That's going to be a handy device to have. Will last a lifetime too.
Steve.
Some very nice machining here Ade. Good of Stefan to share the drawings. Looking forward to seeing you use this in future videos. Cheers Nobby

Went to the post office earlier today. I found some other bits and pieces in the workshop that may be useful!

Nice little job Ade. I keep squirming ea. time you put your fingers near rotating cutters, please use a pointer of some sort.
Very nice work sir.
Nice adaptation Ade. I may well make one of these in time, very handy to have in the toolbox. Cheers, Jon
Nice work Ade. Tricky to do.
I also made one for my last word indicator I done it with out the dimensions I Modeled one in fusion and printed it to verify my dimensions
Nice work
I have Stefan's drawings but not started yet. I need some decent stock and some heat in my garage so it will be a spring project.
good video ADES
Thanks Ade

Hi Ade. Just started watching this video and using headphones and the audio is extremely low. RUclips generally is ok.
2:10 "Half a mill over"
I have recently realised that 'Merkins use 'mill' to mean a 'thou', but I have always meant a millimetre.
Which do you mean?
yes 0.5mm . cheers Ade.
What is a DTI?
Said not to be a dick
Thanks Ade
