To question why and where this one can be used - Kakhovka Dam was blown up, and huge amounts of water flooded more than 40 villages and sites. Water covered 2 floor houses up to the roof, and these Atlases were used for saving people. So they are extremely useful in such situations.

I live in northern Alberta and I see these around every now and then, the oilfield people use them to prospect and plan. They are perfect for up here because its very soft swampy ground.

It wouldn't be great for a warzone. Tires that squishy and big would get destroyed by any mines, grenades, etc., especially since the flooding ended up washing untold numbers of naval mines from the reservoir into the now-flooded lowlands.
Nonsense. Mines can not travel this much. They might get maybe 10 meters from place where they where installed. This thing saves people lives kilometers from mines. Maybe we'll see armored version of it for the army. That would be cool.
I’ve become convinced that James is an absolute joy to work with, seems like someone I’d want to be my coworker. He’s hilarious and it’s clear he makes everyone laugh all the time, but he also seems like the kind of guy that gives people compliments unprompted. I agree with your vision. It was quite different a few years back. In the early Donut- days i felt like a lot of the video's revolved around James his personality. And even though i love those old video's and the kind of energy James had back then, i'm really glad that life humbled him. We al loved his "Energy", but it was not healthy, hè was not healthy... I'm so glad that after al these years he is still here, happier and healthier than ever. And i feel like the whole situation a few years back really accelerated his personal development in a good way. He seems so much more confident and genuine wich also gives space for other people to take. And because of that we get this cool duo of Justin and James! I was just doing evacuations in Kherson which was flooded after the dam breach, as water levels lowered and some vehicles could start entering the area we stopped operating in boats and the Ukrainians started using these - well i saw one at least. Not much room for people, but enough for a couple of stretchers.
So both the Atlas and the Sherp are made in Ukraine, apparently. Both seems like a vehicle suitable for recovery work across all terrain. Even places like Pripyat or what's left of the Kherson floodplains.

wow they cost more now, back in 2016 they were $65k new ones based on same old underpinning of the last gen . same goes for the Russian 8x8 AVTOROS SHAMAN $137,000 but now $289,360.00. when these were starting out they were cheap now they staggering price out reach for many. a lot rescue people got them to help people far out in the wild got these things when they cheap but now 3-4 times the cost are they really worth it any more are they now out the reach for rescue services to buy because at these prices im sure you could make one in usa for cheaper

This vehicle was invented by a guy from Russia. Little latter Ukrainian guy bought all rights of this car. And launch production in Ukraine and Russia. Little later owner prohibited production in Russia. But Russia still produces this vehicle, without permission of the owner.
I think the biggest difference that sets this apart from the "Sherp" is that it actually has wheels that steer whereas the sherp uses a skid steer system

Sure you could probably call it Russian if all they did was change a few parts but the Atlas really looks like it was designed from the ground up with the good characteristics the Sherp had going for it and fixing the shortcomings on the way.

@@AI-qd4vb thats just not true. It exerts... 2 psi of pressure at the contact point. And the tires deform such that the contact patch is large enough to support the truck at 2 psi. If they could deform enough it would no longer be at 2psi. I'm not sure what the surface area of a human outline is. Just not one of those things I've had to calculate yet, so I can't give you a proper estimate on the weight you'd feel, but 2psi is pretty low, I really doubt it would crush you. And 0 psi would be hovering in the air. It legitimately impossible for that to crush you.
I would absolutely love to have one of these, more so than most other vehicles. I think it’s really cool because I love vehicles that can truly conquer most any terrain, and this is the best at that.
Some interesting politics going on here. If we overlook the axes to grind, this vehicle is an evolution from the sherp design and borrows most of the core concepts while adding some features on to them. Sherp was designeded in Russia by a Russian, and then bought/licenced in Ukraine by an "entrepreneur" and made in both countries. Atlas then spins off from Sherp and pursues a very pro Ukrainian marketing strategy, whilst looking to internationally manufacture and sell their version of the ATV as entirely separate and competing product. Shortly afterwards, the Ukraine based HQ/division of sherp manages to suspend the licenses to the Russian side and now owns the name and patents as far as western business law is concerned. This while they are still being manufactured in Russia. So what does this mean? Both vehicles can definitely trace their origin to Russia even though the both companies are technically Ukrainian now. As an analogy, you could think of the Sherp like the T80/84 tank, Russian/soviet in origin but Ukraine made. To extend the analogy, the Atlas would be more like a polish PT91 with definite Russian DNA, but a separate animal.
Well, the issue's here in that is at first was snow/swamp vehicle named SHERP, which was invented in Russia, and then Ukranian businessman came and start production. And now, because of war both countries make their own same vehicles but in different names (Russian variant calls Typhoon).
Ukraine’s engineering abilities aren’t really that well known, which is sad. They also developed the largest airplane in the world, which was destroyed by Russia.

I think they look similar because they both use same principles that work: giant balloon tires with paddle style thread for mud and water, no suspension, and a big light cabin with lots of room. It seems they looked at sherp and thought, I'd rather have one with 4 wheel steering instead of skid steering and a bit longer for more room and better uphill stability, and went and built one.
Atlas activly competes against Sherp by working out some of the problems of the Sherp. Both are of the same class and have the same purpose, which is why they look similar.
Where is Jeremiah? 2psi is not that low for the area of those tires. Maybe slightly low but I’d guess pretty similar pressure as any OEM tire inflation recommendation. Maybe a good topic for B2B. Specifically send Jeremiah to help me with ideal pressure in aftermarket wheels/tires in my 1966 Dart.

I think the Formula Off Road guys in Iceland might disagree with the statement that the Atlas is the most capable off road. Their cars don't float but they do drive them across ponds & lakes and they race up vertical cliffs. If you haven't seen what they do you should check them out.

This vehicle was invented by a guy from Russia. Little latter Ukrainian guy bought all rights of this car. And launch production in Ukraine and Russia. Little later owner prohibited production in Russia. But Russia still produces this vehicle, without permission of the owner.
I think the biggest difference that sets this apart from the "Sherp" is that it actually has wheels that steer whereas the sherp uses a skid steer system

Sure you could probably call it Russian if all they did was change a few parts but the Atlas really looks like it was designed from the ground up with the good characteristics the Sherp had going for it and fixing the shortcomings on the way.

@@lucasmoriones22 on its contact point those tires are exerting enough force to keep a multiple ton vehicle of the ground. It could have 0 psi and still squash you like a bug.
@@AI-qd4vb thats just not true. It exerts... 2 psi of pressure at the contact point. And the tires deform such that the contact patch is large enough to support the truck at 2 psi. If they could deform enough it would no longer be at 2psi.
I'm not sure what the surface area of a human outline is. Just not one of those things I've had to calculate yet, so I can't give you a proper estimate on the weight you'd feel, but 2psi is pretty low, I really doubt it would crush you. And 0 psi would be hovering in the air. It legitimately impossible for that to crush you.

I would absolutely love to have one of these, more so than most other vehicles. I think it’s really cool because I love vehicles that can truly conquer most any terrain, and this is the best at that.

If we overlook the axes to grind, this vehicle is an evolution from the sherp design and borrows most of the core concepts while adding some features on to them.
Sherp was designeded in Russia by a Russian, and then bought/licenced in Ukraine by an "entrepreneur" and made in both countries. Atlas then spins off from Sherp and pursues a very pro Ukrainian marketing strategy, whilst looking to internationally manufacture and sell their version of the ATV as entirely separate and competing product. Shortly afterwards, the Ukraine based HQ/division of sherp manages to suspend the licenses to the Russian side and now owns the name and patents as far as western business law is concerned. This while they are still being manufactured in Russia.
So what does this mean? Both vehicles can definitely trace their origin to Russia even though the both companies are technically Ukrainian now.
As an analogy, you could think of the Sherp like the T80/84 tank, Russian/soviet in origin but Ukraine made. To extend the analogy, the Atlas would be more like a polish PT91 with definite Russian DNA, but a separate animal.

Well, the issue's here in that is at first was snow/swamp vehicle named SHERP, which was invented in Russia, and then Ukranian businessman came and start production. And now, because of war both countries make their own same vehicles but in different names (Russian variant calls Typhoon).

I think they look similar because they both use same principles that work: giant balloon tires with paddle style thread for mud and water, no suspension, and a big light cabin with lots of room. It seems they looked at sherp and thought, I'd rather have one with 4 wheel steering instead of skid steering and a bit longer for more room and better uphill stability, and went and built one.
Atlas activly competes against Sherp by working out some of the problems of the Sherp. Both are of the same class and have the same purpose, which is why they look similar.
Just a cheap Ukrainian copy of Russian atv that even Ukrainians don't buy😅.

Where is Jeremiah? 2psi is not that low for the area of those tires. Maybe slightly low but I’d guess pretty similar pressure as any OEM tire inflation recommendation. Maybe a good topic for B2B. Specifically send Jeremiah to help me with ideal pressure in aftermarket wheels/tires in my 1966 Dart.

I think the Formula Off Road guys in Iceland might disagree with the statement that the Atlas is the most capable off road. Their cars don't float but they do drive them across ponds & lakes and they race up vertical cliffs.
