I love Previas. I used to tell people (when I had the AllTrac SE Supercharged version) that I drove the minivan equivalent of a Porsche 911 a turbo. Mid engine, all wheel drive and forced induction. Glorious car!!
I was never a minivan customer but I remember the sensation caused by the Chrysler Minivan in 1983 (for 84). Toyota came along 7 years later and 4 years after that was the Honda Odyssey. If Toyota had been the only Japanese challenger to the Chrysler Minivan, it would have caught on quickly but Honda had established their reliability and came along with a simpler design, nice appointments, better looks and a lower price. I own a Tacoma and I would never purchase a unibody "pickup" like the Honda Ridgeline.
previas are sick, i have one similar to this that i modded and go camping in (n/a, rwd, slighly less clapped out). theyre good comfy cars with a surprising amount of room and have decent capability with suspension mods. main downside is they're a absolute nightmare to work on (especially when that headgasket goes👎)
I feel like whenever these junkers rises to a challenge like this, it deserves a rebuild. I want a build series that turns the Previa into a fun little off-roader.
I actually think it would be an excellent offroad vehicle. It is well balanced and reliable. Raise it, give it good suspension and tires, and let it run wild.
@@aaronburkeen6409 true plus most old japanese minivans came with a 4wd option so i wouldn't be surprised if the previa did too. If they swapped that in combined with the manual trans+4wd box and fixing all the issues i think it would beat alot of off-road vehicles

I live in the brutal winter midwestern Wisconsin and the awd platform was ahead of all its competitors. In the summer heat the over head auxiliary ac unit was so delightful for the rear passengers. I would have gladly donate one to Donut if I had one today.

What other 30 year old vehicle can you daily with 250k on it and do nothing but oil changes and brakes to in a 4 year span?! Side note, that squealing was something mine did too. It was because of water that had gotten in with the freon. Flush your AC system and it should go away. And that sensor that got melted was the VSS so that's why you had those shifting issues. Previa's are so rad man. You guys did an awesome job showing off how great they are.

You guys need to continue this kind of series… it reminds me old times oh Top Gear, you guys sound like the next generation of that freaking trio, peace from Brazil
That rug really ties the room together.
Put the free LSX you guys are getting in the Previa for the next Gambler in a few months! It was “free” after all, and would be amazing to see. Love the vids
These guys have the OG Top Gear energy. May, Hammond, and Clarkson can never be replaced, but maybe
My family had a '91 Toyota Previa growing up and that shit lived to 600,000 KM/373,000 Miles. The on board freezer and the rotating chairs were the coolest thing ever. Ultimate road trip vehicle tbh.
