Fun fact: When the author of the James Bond novels (Ian Fleming) died in 1964, other leading novelists were told to put pen to paper. Roald Dahl, the author of classics like Charlie and the Chocolate Factory and James and the Giant Peach wrote the script for You Only Live Twice.
@@MickyD I was thinking; yeah! Roald Dahl wrote 'You only live twice' and Mike Myers played a Bond spoof as Austin Powers and also played 'The cat in the hat'. Then I realised Roald Dahl isn't Dr. Seuss and now I am super confused. Thanks Micky!
5:19 they're actually really useful in that one mission in the Hotel where you're mostly using fists since few enemies drop guns and the guns always have barely any ammo.
Yeah, they were tough. I remember my buddy and I would come home from school every Friday, and we would play the co op missions. Took us like 2 months to get through the first mission.
Honestly, I never really thought about this, but it's pretty funny how the Green Goblin himself, Willem Dafoe, is the villain, and you have spiders in this game. Also one of my favorite things to do with the mission right at the end is just let St Germaine fall and look the other way while she's screaming in terror, or just die on purpose and slowly watch Bond fall...damn, I'm a horrible person.
Neat, he mentioned my comment! Guess that means he’ll do one of the more obscure (but still fun) adventure games in the franchise at some point, even if it’s just to avoid playing Rogue Agent.
your commentary is great man, interesting and funny. Reminds me of the glory days of let's plays. also this game is super nostalgic for me, thanks for making quality content for it.
I remember playing this game on the gamecube when I was a kid took me until James Bond shooting at the window to realize that I played this game before when I was around 6 years old. (I don't think I used the strobe coin either)
The 'falling while destroying' level design would later be utilized in the Star Wars: Force Unleashed games. Specifically the sequel which was meh. Speaking of, Force Unleashed one of these days? I think it would be up your alley. Cheers!
You getting shot with a rocket immediately after you picked up the body armor is the hardest I've laughed at a RUclips video in a long time so thanks for that
All the levels you claim are difficult are supposed to be stealth missions, thats why they're difficult cos you run around like a maniac shooting everyone. The dart gun is OP, it knocks out any enemy in 1 shot no matter where you hit them
@@Lady_Violet22 it’s too bad 3 isn’t very good. I remember getting a hold of it after playing the original game and it only held my attention for a few hours. Maybe I should take another look at it
@@buildinasentry1046 I would recommend it, personally. 2 and 3 are a real depart from the first game, but they're fairly enjoyable in their own way, especially if you're into Monty Python-style humour. They kinda took that bit literally in 3, though, adding John Cleese and all.
okay what the fuck, as a scottish kid that grew up in the 90s, you gave me a fucking major flashback showing the alive o cover, holyyyy fuck, i hope im not the only one that had a crazy flashback seeing that lmfao
I really hope the stigma in Hollywood about voice acting a game goes away. Christopher Judge as Kratos is a great example: ‘There was kind of this… if your career was flagging you’d do a video game voice for some quick money,’ -Well you're Kratos now! $150 million plus project (you will always be Teal'c to me however)
Man i might be a filthy millennial or something but Peirce Bronson is my 007. Someone says James Bond Pierce pops into my head. People could probably argue his version of Bond is one of the weaker ones but i dont care...
Yeah, Pierce is definitely the one I most associate with him, though admittedly most of the Brosnan-era Bond films were not great (Goldeneye is fantastic, of course). Still a better average than Roger Moore (who had a few great ones, and he was the only Bond who faced off against Jaws), but not as good as Sean Connery. My personal favorite though was Timothy Dalton.
@@RepKyle95 wow a rare Timothy Dalton fan! He and Brosnan are the most believable bonds. However , Brosnan is ironically the least believable Irish person considering he's from Navan.

I don't know how many supermodel scientists working on science fiction technology my suspension of disbelief can withstand. But it's reaching its limit.
"We once played bridge together, he lost." is possibly one of the best lines in a Bond anything.

Mike Myers played the cat in that
People that asked didn't understand that there's more than one person called James so thought jatgp was a Bond novel

Prettt sure Roald Dahl was also a secret agent irl.
Anyone else read the Young Bond books by Charlie Higson? I'm using a couple of them to elevate my TV cuz my PS5 was in the way :P
The old Bond games had facial graphics that were way ahead of its time, wow.
Even Sean Connery said he fell madly in love with the character model they made for him when they made From Russia with Love on the PS2
@@basedbattledroid3507 That’s the one Bond game I’ve never played but always wanted to. I heard it was great.

"Bond, did you encounter The Jackal? What happened?
"She's fallen for me."

"i'm not listening to ya. i'm just singing along to the bond theme" i think that's exactly what bond does every movie when he gets his new gadgets
I remember the multi-player levels on this game being hard. Me and my friend was stuck for hours on like the 4th level. Was still fun tho.
Yeah, they were tough. I remember my buddy and I would come home from school every Friday, and we would play the co op missions. Took us like 2 months to get through the first mission.
quantum of solace i think was the same way on ps2, co-op was crazy hard and a bit buggy
The shipping container storage section of the Kremlin bunker gave me gray hair as a child. 003 got out easy
007 comes from how John Dee signed his letters to Queen Elizabeth, John Dee was an alchemist, they give Bond a gold bike
nice

12:50 "Sorry Basil, the car's destroyed"
Literally just pictured Q turn up with a branch and start thrashing at the car.
The way you almost never take cover in a cover-based shooter and somehow still make it through these levels is impressive.

Darts are supposed to actually work irl isn't that insane
And it's used on angry organisms too so they have less reason to be knocked out

Back when I played this game, I went nuts using the coin grenades. Sometimes I'd use them first just for fun, them switched to guns. :3
The gadget guy is fricking John Cleese?! I swear it is! Wow. Nice.
John Cleese put the most effort into the role which is great at least

Didn’t Ian Fleming also write Chitty Chitty Bang Bang?
