  • There's a LOT to unpack here... Libido is not as easy as an on-off switch. So what is the #1 cause of low libido in women?
    This may come as a shocker to some, but our hormones (and not just TESTOSTERONE here -- we're talking about ESTROGEN and CORTISOL too!), lifestyle factors, daily stressors, and even relationship compatibility all influence our desire and sex drive.
    Libido is not something to be overlooked! Yes, while it is normal to not be in the mood all of the time, it's not normal to NOT be in the mood ANY of the time. If you're feeling like your switch is never on and is affecting your emotional and physical wellbeing (or even your relationship with your partner), it's important to work with a doctor that you trust, and find out what's causing YOUR low libido and what you can do to better support your sex drive!

    After learning so much about men and women I don’t think we are sexually compatible long term, there’s just too many irreconcilable differences between the sexes that can’t be permanently bridged in the SLIGHTEST. Sad but reality.

    Never marry for sex. Don't even make it a priority. Too many broken hearts because of it. Rather see it as a surprising or random blessing that occurs now and then. I have seen too many broken hearts because of it in family courts.
    Just focus on the romantic "friendship", work on yourself (health, fitness, social life, faith, career, kids, etc). And that's it.

    From every man I spoke to about this, it should be actively avoids any form of sex after the last child was born. My access to sex or intimacy stopped 10 years ago when she decided to stop, along with any, feelings to me. I have missed the whole thing and especially the closeness and touch.

      Everyone should have access to intimacy, think about yourself and decide what to do about it, it's unfair to go through something like that

      My answer nr. 1 would be, divorce. Nr. 2, tell her in her face you need sex and will get yourself a side piece.

      Exactly the same. Once she got all she wanted, no more touch, smiles, love, sex or intimacy at all. My needs are meaningless, and her permanent sense of resentment let's her blame me for EVERY THING.

    Interesting that you got to the part where, she probably just doesn’t like you. Very scary for me, because this has been going on for 20 years. Yikes.

      Go easy, gentlemen. Hormone changes are a b*tch and truly affect every aspect of our wellbeing. Connect with your wives emotionally, and research natural helpers together. Tenderness goes a long way when we're struggling.

    Hormones cycle in pre-menopausal women, only. You need to correct this.

    Whay would be the best time in the cycle to test estrogen, progesterone and testosterone? And estrogen should be total or the 3 estrogen individually?

      Thanks for watching! I can't give any specific medical advice. This question can only be answered with more information on age, health status, ect. I recommend establishing with a doctor that specializes in hormones to get the best care.

    But the hating the partner is part of menopause. I dont heard too many women say it. I thought it was me, just not liking my partner, but i find him attractive and love him. You said it wont help that.

    • @DrAlexandraMayer
      @DrAlexandraMayer  11 месяцев назад +1

      Hormones can contribute to feeling that was. Getting hormones in check can help with that. It’s more if you don’t like your partner and don’t find them attractive then hormones might not be the fix.

    So is it abnormal to not be in the mood any of the time, when you are 72 and still experiencing hot flushes and “panic attacks”? My doctor’s words, not mine…..

    • @DrAlexandraMayer
      @DrAlexandraMayer  10 месяцев назад +2

      There's a lot that goes into libido. However not being in the mood any of the time is probably not a good sign. Also, hot flashes and panic attacks are strong hormonal symptoms. HRT is best started within 10 years post-menopause. However, an educated provider should be able to navigate that discussion with you. Basically, sounds like it's time to initiate more conversations with your provider. I hope that helps!

      You are not abnormal, I'm 62 and have completely lost my sex drive this last 3 years. I put it down to a combination of post menopause (but still having regular hot flushes) medication for high blood pressure, vaginal dryness (the product I used containing aloe Vera was discontinued) weight gain in both partners, unable to breathe due to emphysema, loss of feeling down there due to nerve damage from 4 herniated discs. All leading me to a realisation that all that effort, discomfort and mess didn't lead to any pleasure on my part so I knocked it on the head and stopped, it doesn't mean I don't love my partner I do, deeply. Even having a myocardial infarction 5 years ago didn't stop our sex life for more than 2 weeks but the medication has really taken it's toll and my libido is now non existent. I gave my partner the option to get sex with someone else if it was that important to him but he hasn't availed himself of that option, I did suggest trying Tantric sex which is mostly in the head and breathing exercises but it didn't appeal to him so now we sleep in separate rooms. There are many women over 60 out there that have come to the conclusion that sex isn't the be all and end all of life and have made appropriate choices that suit them.

    Women seem to be rather not self-aware. Their body and emotions change throughout the month, and everyone else around them knows it, but if it is mentioned, they become angry and defensive.
    Do women really not know that their man wants to have a sex life with them? Then why would their answer be to do nothing at all?
    It also appears that women do not handle stress very well, but instead of making life choices that moderate or reduce stress, they actively seek career and relationship situations that increase their stress, often to the breaking point. Why do that to your life?

      Good question. In the video I was not advocating for too much testosterone. I get a lot of patients who are overdosed on T. I do not recommend. Healthy balanced hormones is a different story

    It's funny how women use sex to get a husband, then lose all desires for sex once she has him. And punish him with it.

      There is an item commonly partaken of at the Wedding Reception that starts the decline of a woman's libido: Wedding cake. It does not affect men much, if at all.

    I’m a man, and quite frankly, having a sex drive is one of the most exhausting things on the planet. Thankfully, my desire for sex is waning, but I’m having to fight my brain to completely shutting down my libido. I might actually turn to antidepressants to lower it.
